Iran has received another installment of its frozen oil revenues under an interim nuclear deal with the P5+1 group.
The Central Bank of Iran says it has received 490 million dollars worth of petrodollars. The money which was frozen under the Western sanctions in South Korea, has now been transferred into the account of an Iranian bank in Oman. This follows the latest agreement between Iran and the group of six countries to release about five billion dollars worth of Iranian funds held in foreign banks by July 2015. Tehran has already received over eight billions of dollars in several installments in exchange for limiting certain aspects of its nuclear energy activities.

Due to the fact that sky-high snowy mountains, extended deserts, verdant oases, turquoise cupola mosques and cultural and architectural relic sites of World Heritage are waiting for all visitors it can be a very desirable destination even for tourists who continuously look for the new and varied. In Tehran the luxurious palaces of Persian shahs, the Museum of Archaeology and the Museum of Carpets and Rugs are the sights that “must” be seen. Yazd and Kerman is well-known for their mosques and bazaars, Naqsh-e Rustam is for its rock-hewn tombs, Rayen and Persepolis are for the remains of their palaces and castles from the time of the Persian Empire. The two most beautiful cities of Iran are the splendidly situated Shiraz and Isfahan that is full of vitality.

My name's Michael and I'm the Marketing Manager for Wild Frontiers. I'm here at the magnificent site of Persepolis in Iran. I've been in Iran for two weeks now and so far I've been enchanted by this fascinating country.
CITIES
The capital Tehran is most people's starting point, and in this busy city you can see ostentatious ornaments from the royal household in the crown jewels museum, and wander around the Shah's old residence, Golestan Palace. Just north of Tehran you can visit the Elburz Mountains for skiing in the winter or hiking in the summer.
But the real highlights lie elsewhere. In the off-the-beaten-track city of Yazd you'll find a cityscape dotted with the ingenious wind tunnels -- which could be described as the world's first air-conditioning system - the ancient Zoroastrian site of the Towers of Silence, the magnificent Friday Mosque and a number of beautiful palaces and gardens.
Shiraz meanwhile is a lovely university town, known as the city of poets, wine, literature and flowers, and is a real delight. I particularly loved visiting the atmospheric tomb of the Persian poet Hafez. In the evenings it has a magical atmosphere as people gather to read poetry and celebrate the life of this revered poet. Shiraz is also blessed with numerous picturesque mosques and beautiful gardens.
The jewel in the Persian crown is undoubtedly the beautiful city of Esfahan, which has one of the largest squares in the world in the breathtaking Naqsh Jahan Square and probably the most stunning Islamic architecture found anywhere. Esfahan is unbelievably picturesque, with its famed bridges and lively bazaars.
ANCIENT SITES
Iran has a long and rich history, with the Persian Empire at one point ruling over 44% of the world's population. The country is home to some world-class archaeological sites, including the rock-carved tombs of Nagsh e Rostam, where Darius the great is buried, and the spectacular Achamaenid palace complex at Persepolis. This ancient palace was built by Darius the Great to celebrate events such as the Persian New Year, when representatives from the four corners of the empire would congregate. This vast site merits at least a couple of hours to explore the ruins and bas reliefs.
SCENERY
But it's not only about the cities and ancient sites, the scenery of Iran is an unexpected highlight. From beautiful picnic spots such as the Murgon Waterfalls, to fertile valleys in the Bavanat Mountains, where you can encounter Kashqai nomads and see a way of life that has changed little over centuries. In the Dena mountains around Yasuj you'll find an alpine scenery of snow-capped mountains, lakes and streams. It is well worth spending some time away from the better-known cultural sites to explore this lesser-known side of Iran. It really is a beautiful country.
THE PEOPLE
The people of Iran are another real highlight, being welcoming and keen to engage in conversation about everything from politics to football. You are likely to be surrounded by schoolkids asking you questions, offered tea and invited to share in picnics with the locals pretty much wherever you go.
If ever a people were misrepresented by a regime it would be the Iranians. Thanks to a baby boom in the 80's, over 60% of its 70 million population are aged under 30. This generation is well-educated, worldly, and exposed to global media through the internet. Walking around the streets -- which are incidentally very safe - this certainly feels like a nation on the cusp of change.
So forget about any preconceptions you may have about safety, security, or the welcome you'll receive in Iran. I've found the people to be the friendliest and most hospitable I've found anywhere in the world. So check out Wild Frontiers' tours to Iran and discover for yourself this fascinating country.

Once again we went to the middle of Tehran and saw the beautiful Tehran Bazzar. Bazzar is not only a place for shopping, but also a place for visiting people especially seeing Iranian people and talking to them. So we went and saw the Persian Carpet Market in Tehran Bazzar. As the second part you can see some natural attractions of Iran in Mount Damavand.
The last part of our journey was visiting Chaldareh in Mazandaran province.

Take a tour of Historic Abyaneh in Iran -- part of the World's Greatest Attractions series by GeoBeats.
In the mountains of Iran is a magical place where visitors can travel back in time.
The small town of Abyaneh has adhered to old, traditional ways of doing things.
The historic red clay buildings of their town climb up the slopes of Karkass Mountain.
The Abyunaki can still be seen wearing the traditional clothing of their heritage.
The village is believed to be one of the oldest in Iran.
It is impossible not to feel the awesome weight of passing years when visiting Abyaneh.

In this version, the last episode of Iran Travel Guide, Mohsen Nazaran , the host of the show traveled to Kish Island. It is part of the Hormozgan Province of Iran. Due to its free trade zone status, it is touted as a consumer's paradise, with numerous malls, shopping centres, tourist attractions, and resort hotels. Then he went to Tezerj waterfall in Hormozgan Province. Then, to The Borujerdi House, a historic house in Kashan. The house was built in 1857. It consists of a rectangular beautiful courtyard, delightful wall paintings by the royal painter Kamal-ol-molk, and three 40 meter tall wind towers which help cool the house to unusually cool temperatures. The house took eighteen years to build using 150 craftsmen. Then he went to Abyaneh, Shemshak ski resort in Tehran, Chehel Sotoun in Isfahan, the old bazzar of Isfahan and Shoormast lake in Mazandaran province.

When it comes to Tehran, it's impossible to avoid politics and easy to overlook the Iranian city's thriving culinary scene. In our first installment of The MUNCHIES Guide to Tehran, our host Gelareh Kiazand introduces us to the bustling street food offerings in the city.
We begin our journey at the capital city's Grand Bazaar, since that's where commodities first arrive. Gelareh beelines for the market's food stands, where she samples dried fruits and nuts while waiting out the line at Moslem Restaurant, frequented by up to 5,000 kebab connoisseurs daily—well worth it for her favorite tah chin. At the more modest and bygone Tajrish Bazaar, she's the proverbial kid in a candy store, wading through copper and carpet vendors in search of sweet snacks, such as grape molasses and lavasak (fruit leather).

Climbing Mt. Damavand was everything we expected and more. We arrived in Iran wanting to climb this Volcano and quietly confident we would be able to reach the summit. Only after our first night at the camp did our doubts start to arise. The altitude got to us and we really struggled to sleep at night. We chose not to hire a guide after meeting some Polish guys who had just arrived back from Damavand. They assured us it was quite achievable without a guide, although i would recommend a guide for anyone who likes piece of mind. There were a few occasions on our adventure when a guide would have come in handy. But at the end of the day we made it and I’m sure anyone else could have. It was very physically demanding but in saying that, there was a group of european middle aged people doing the hike the same day as we did and some of them would have been 40-50 years old. Although they were hiking a lot slower they still reached the summit. I would recommend anyone going to Iran to at least go to the bottom of the mountain and check it out. The wild poppies are beautiful and the mountain itself is a masterpeice! Please do not hesitate to contact me for any further questions or information in regards to climbing Mount Damavand. We found it extremely hard to find good information before our climb so i will happily answer any questions to help inform anyone wishing to make the climb. Thank you Mt Damavand!

Britain said on Sunday that it wanted to work with Iran's central bank to make it easier for UK banks to finance trade and investment in the country after a thaw in diplomatic relations.
"I think it would be very helpful and very positive if we could begin a dialogue about how we can create conditions which would allow British banks and British financial institutions to engage in the financing of trade and investment in Iran," Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond told Valiollah Seif, governor of the Central Bank of Iran, at a meeting in Tehran.
Hammond said banks, mindful of penalties imposed in the past by U.S. authorities, were cautious to ensure that they were fully compliant when they return to Iran.
"There is a huge appetite both on the part of our commercial and industrial businesses to engage with the opportunity of Iran opening up and there is huge appetite on the part of our financial institutions to support that activity but of course it has to be done in the proper way," he said.
Seif said the countries had a positive relationship in the past, and they could build on those experiences.

A senior US official is urging South Korea to reduce its crude oil imports from Iran to put pressure on Tehran over its nuclear programme.
US State Department official Robert Einhorn on Tuesday also urged Seoul to "unwind" its financial dealings with Tehran's central bank.
South Korea restricts financial dealings with more than 200 groups and individuals with suspected links to Iran's nuclear programme.
But Seoul hasn't yet announced plans to cut oil purchases from Iran.
Einhorn told reporters that Washington is sensitive to its allies' economic interests with Iran.
But he says the world should pressure Iran into negotiating seriously over its nuclear programme.
However Kim Jae-shin, South Korea's Deputy Foreign Minister, said many Koreans were worried that further sanctions against Iran "may destabilise the international market of crude oil and accordingly bring about some adverse effect on the Korean economy."
Iran says that programme is for peaceful purposes.
A small group of anti-American demonstrators gathered outside Einhorn's meeting in Seoul on Tuesday.

Iran's economy is a mixture of central planning, state ownership of oil and other large enterprises, village agriculture, and small-scale private trading and service ventures. In 2011 GDP was $482.4 billion ($1.003 trillion at PPP), or $13,200 at PPP per capita. Iran is ranked as an upper-middle income economy by the World Bank. In the early 21st century the service sector contributed the largest percentage of the GDP, followed by industry (mining and manufacturing) and agriculture. The Central Bank of the Islamic Republic of Iran is responsible for developing and maintaining the Iranian rial, which serves as the country's currency. The government doesn't recognize trade unions other than the Islamic Labour Councils, which are subject to the approval of employers and the security services. The minimum wage in June 2013 was 487 million rials a month ($134). Unemployment has remained above 10% since 1997, and the unemployment rate for women is almost double that of the men.
In 2006, about 45% of the government's budget came from oil and natural gas revenues, and 31% came from taxes and fees. As of 2007, Iran had earned $70 billion in foreign exchange reserves mostly (80%) from crude oil exports. Iranian budget deficits have been a chronic problem, mostly due to large-scale state subsidies, that include foodstuffs and especially gasoline, totaling more than $84 billion in 2008 for the energy sector alone. In 2010, the economic reform plan was approved by parliament to cut subsidies gradually and replace them with targeted social assistance. The objective is to move towards free market prices in a 5-year period and increase productivity and social justice.
The administration continues to follow the market reform plans of the previous one and indicated that it will diversify Iran's oil-reliant economy. Iran has also developed a biotechnology, nanotechnology, and pharmaceuticals industry. However, nationalized industries such as the bonyads have often been managed badly, making them ineffective and uncompetitive with years. Currently, the government is trying to privatize these industries, and, despite successes, there are still several problems to be overcome, such as the lagging corruption in the public sector and lack of competitiveness. In 2010, Iran was ranked 69, out of 139 nations, in the Global Competitiveness Report.
Iran has leading manufacturing industries in the fields of car-manufacture and transportation, construction materials, home appliances, food and agricultural goods, armaments, pharmaceuticals, information technology, power and petrochemicals in the Middle East. According to FAO, Iran has been a top five producer of the following agricultural products in the world in 2012: apricots, cherries, sour cherries, cucumbers and gherkins, dates, eggplants, figs, pistachios, quinces, walnuts, and watermelons.
Economic sanctions against Iran, such as the embargo against Iranian crude oil, have affected the economy. Sanctions have led to a steep fall in the value of the rial, and as of April 2013 one US dollar is worth 36,000 rial, compared with 16,000 in early 2012.

Iran moves away from US dollar in foreign trade
Daily Voice News - Finance News
Iran is stopping mutual settlements in dollars with foreign countries and agreements on bilateral swap in new currencies will be signed in the near future, the Central Bank of Iran (CBI) has said.
“In trade exchanges with foreign countries, Iran uses other currencies, including Chinese yuan, euro, Turkish lira, Russian ruble and South Korean won,” Gholamali Kamyab, CBI deputy head, told the Tasnim state news agency.
He added that Iran is considering the possibility of signing bilateral monetary agreements with several countries on the use of other currencies.
Kamyab believes bilateral currency swap agreements will ease trade and economic transactions between Iran and other states.
Iran is not the first country to move away from the US dollar. In 2014, Russia and China agreed on swaps and forwards in foreign currencies, a move aimed at reducing the influence of the US dollar and foreign exchange risks.
Experts believe the establishment of the BRICS Bank was also a major step towards de-dollarization and reducing Western dominance in the global financial system.
The move was made to increase international competition and activate trade and investment cooperation on the world stage.

Since the Islamic revolution, Iran has been sanctioned by the United States many times on various pretexts.
At first Iran was denied goods it imported like spare parts for airplanes, but then the sanctions became more severe. Since 2006, six resolutions have been passed against Iran, resulting in five rounds of UN sanctions.
In 2012, the United States froze all the property of Iran's central bank and other financial institutions in the US, and the European Union's oil embargo on Iran came into effect.
The stated objective for all this was pressuring the Iranian government into halting its nuclear energy program.
At the moment, the West's tactic is to target Iran's economy, so Iran implodes. And to do that it's trying to sabotage Iran's oil industry, which for the moment, Iran's economy relies on.
Iran has, with every round of sanctions, tried to find ways to counter them, and ease the pressure on the people.
To do this it has instigated radical change in different sectors. But how successful has Iran's efforts been? That's what we'll be discussing in this episode of Iran today.

February 14, 2012
A series of articles published on 23 June 2006, by The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and The Los Angeles Times revealed that the US Treasury Department and the USA Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and other United States of America government agencies had a program to access the SWIFT transaction database after the 11 September attacks called the Terrorist Finance Tracking Program.[10]
After these articles, SWIFT quickly came under pressure for compromising the data privacy of its customers by letting foreign government (United States government) agencies access sensitive personal data. In September 2006, the Belgian government declared that the SWIFT dealings with USA government authorities were a breach of Belgian and European privacy laws.
In response, SWIFT is in the process of improving its architecture to satisfy member privacy concerns by implementing the new distributed architecture with a two-zone model for storing messages (see Operations centers).
Concurrent to this process, the European Union negotiated an agreement with the United States Government to permit the transfer of intra-EU SWIFT transaction information to the United States under certain circumstances. Due to concerns about its potential contents, the European Parliament adopted a position statement in September 2009, demanding to see the full text of the agreement, and requesting that it be fully compliant with EU privacy legislation, with appropriate oversight mechanisms in place to ensure that all data requests were handled appropriately.[11] An interim agreement was signed without European Parliamentary approval by the European Council on 30 November 2009,[12] the day before the Lisbon Treaty—which would have prohibited such an agreement from being signed under the terms of the Codecision procedure—formally came into effect. While the interim agreement was scheduled to come into effect on 1 January 2010, the text of the agreement was classified as "EU Restricted" until translations could be provided in all EU languages and published on 25 January 2010.
On 11 February 2010, the European Parliament decided to reject the interim agreement between the EU and the USA with 378 to 196 votes.[13][14] One week earlier, the parliament's civil liberties committee already rejected the deal, citing legal reservations.[15]
In March 2011, it was reported that two mechanisms of data protection had failed: EUROPOL released a report complaining that USA requests for information had been too vague (making it impossible to make judgments on validity)[16] and that the guaranteed right for European citizens to know whether their information had been accessed by USA authorities had not been put in to practice.[16]
In January 2012, the advocacy group United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI) implemented a campaign calling on SWIFT to end all relations with Iran's banking system, including the Central Bank of Iran. UANI asserted that Iran's membership in SWIFT violated USA and EU financial sanctions against Iran as well as Swift's own corporate rules.[17]
Consequently, in February 2012, the U.S. Senate Banking Committee unanimously approved sanctions against SWIFT aimed at pressuring the Belgian financial telecommunications network to terminate its ties with blacklisted Iranian banks. Expelling Iranian banks from SWIFT would potentially deny Iran access to billions of dollars in revenue and spending using SWIFT but not from using IVTS. Mark Wallace, president of UANI, praised the Senate Banking Committee.[18]
Initially SWIFT denied it was acting illegally,[18] but now says "it is working with U.S. and European governments to address their concerns that its financial services are being used by Iran to avoid sanctions and conduct illicit business."[19] Targeted banks would be — amongst others — Saderat Bank of Iran, Bank Mellat, Post Bank of Iran and Sepah Bank [20] On 17 March 2012, following agreement two days earlier between all 27 member states of the Council of the European Union and the Council's subsequent ruling, SWIFT disconnected all Iranian banks from its international network that had been identified as institutions in breach of current EU sanctions and that even more Iranian financial institutions could be disconnected from the network.
On February 26, 2012 the Danish newspaper Berlingske reported that USA authorities evidently have sufficient control over SWIFT to seize money being transferred between two EU countries (Denmark and Germany), since they have seized around U$26,000 which were being transferred from a Danish to a German bank. The money was a payment by a Danish businessman for a batch of Cuban cigars previously imported to Germany by a German supplier. As justification for the seizure, the U.S. Treasury has stated that the Danish businessman has violated the United States embargo against Cuba.[21]

This week begins with Greece and its referendum results but that is by no means the end of the potential news. Greece is just the start of a parade of potentially big developments through the week. Negotiations over Greece could come to a head this week, which may have a particular impact on EUR and European markets, negotiations on a nuclear deal with Iran have a Tuesday deadline which could impact trading in crude oil.
We also may see a lot of trading driven by central bank speculation. The Canada jobs report is the last big data point before the Bank of Canada decides on whether or not to cut rates later this month. The RBA is having a meeting this week amid growing speculation it may not be done dropping rates after all. The US FOMC minutes may show how much thinking or preparing the Fed has done, if any about potential shocks over Puerto Rico’s debt problems. Finally, Chinese markets could be active again this week as the big unwinding of their big rally continues and monthly data starts to come out.
