The main task of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is to secure and promote Norway’s interests internationally. Norway’s interests are determined by such factors as its geographical location in a strategically important area, its open economy, its position as a coastal state and steward of substantial marine resources, and its extensive exports of oil and gas.

Effort for refugees to be priority for Norway Grants

The Government is prepared to make a major contribution to a joint and intensified European effort to improve systems for receiving refugees and asylum-seekers in the years ahead.

Priorities for Norway at the UN General Assembly 2015

The general debate will begin on 28 September and will last until 6 October. Members of Norway's delegation, which is headed by Prime Minister Erna Solberg, will participate in a large number of bilateral and multilateral meetings during the high-level week.
