The setting is Lynchian, the mood phantasmagoric. Revelations abound in snatches of conversation. Sociopolitical commentaries are made and refuted. Pleasure is indulged. Meanwhile, the Resident wonders exactly where he is. Does he belong here? Is this a hallucination? Both? All will be clear in time, when he, and we, the audience, surrender to Shuffle Mode.

He generally hangs out with his similarly slack life friends playing cards and drinking. His source of income is threatened when Maddalena is injured being hit by a motorcyclist, then beaten by rivals of his, which leads to her being arrested and jailed for a year. Largely because of Iaio, Accattone contemplates going straight and getting a real job. Then he meets Stella, a young innocent woman who has had a hard life, but who is not as naive to the ways of the world as she first appears. Accattone falls in love with her, but as the thought of working a steady job now becomes abhorrent, contemplates pimping for Stella. As Accattone and Stella's relationship progresses, Accattone's past may come back to haunt him.

In a talk that garnered a tearful standing ovation, Matthew Williams demands equality and respect for individuals with intellectual disabilities, told from the perspective of a Special Olympics athlete. Recorded at TEDxVancouver at Rogers Arena on November 14, 2015.
Matthew Williams is a firm believer in the power of sport to transform lives. He experienced it firsthand when he joined Special Olympics in the eighth grade. Williams has achieved a great deal in his decade with Special Olympics. He competed in the 2015 Special Olympics World Summer Games in basketball, where the first-ever Canadian basketball team to participate in a World Games finished fourth. He has also participated in track and field, swimming, floor hockey, and curling.
Now 23 years old, Matthew has become a Special Olympics International Sargent Shriver Global Messenger and a member of the Special Olympics International Board of Directors, where he shares athletes’ perspectives with leaders of this global movement.

The E*Bootcamp consists of a full day of workshops and a reception/networking session. This program focuses on issues of tactical concern to entrepreneurs, for example: incorporating, building a team, sharing equity with founding partners, confidentiality agreements, business plans, start-up accounting, creative bootstrapping, and other funding concerns. Sessions are led by leading entrepreneurship professors and practitioners.

The E*Bootcamp consists of a full day of workshops and a reception/networking session. This program focuses on issues of tactical concern to entrepreneurs, for example: incorporating, building a team, sharing equity with founding partners, confidentiality agreements, business plans, start-up accounting, creative bootstrapping, and other funding concerns. Sessions are led by leading entrepreneurship professors and practitioners.

Libertarians have long been divided on the subject of intellectual property such as patents and copyright. Does natural law extend to intellectual property rights, just like "real property" rights? Or is IP just another government-granted monopoly that limits freedom?
The Progress Clause of the U.S. Constitution grants Congress authority to "promote the Progress of Science and useful Arts, by securing for limited Times to Authors and Inventors the exclusive Right to their respective Writings and Discoveries." During the Constitutional Convention, this provision was adopted by an overwhelming vote and with little debate. But IP was much more limited at the nation's founding than it is today.
In fact, copyright terms are now 580 percent longer than at the start of the 19th century and patents are now granted for software, designs, and business methods that don't look anything like the traditional definition of "inventions."
How should libertarians regard the current legal and regulatory framework and does it help or hinder progress in the digital age? And when considering reform, how can policymakers balance the interests of creators while limiting the potential for regulatory capture and industry-driven cronyism?
On October 8, 2015, R Street and Reason co-hosted a discussion on the pitfalls and merits of intellectual property at Reason's DC offices. Joining the panel was Brink Lindsey of the Cato Institute, Wayne Brough of FreedomWorks, Eli Dourado of the Mercatus Center, and Sasha Moss of R Street Institute. The discussion was moderated by Reason's Nick Gillespie.

Since at least 1500 B.C. men have, from time to time, held the view that our normal
vision of the world is a hallucination—a dream, a figment of the mind, or, to use the
Hindu word which means both art and illusion, a maya. The implication is that, if this is
so, life need never be taken seriously. It is a fantasy, a play, a drama to be enjoyed. It
does not really matter, for one day (perhaps in the moment of death) the illusion will
dissolve, and each one of us will awaken to discover that he himself is what there is and
all that there is—the very root and ground of the universe, or the ultimate and eternal
space in which things and events come and go.
This is not simply an idea which someone "thought up," like science fiction or a
philosophical theory. It is the attempt to express an experience in which consciousness
itself, the basic sensation of being "I," undergoes a remarkable change. We do not know
much about these experiences. They are relatively common, and arise in every part of the
world. They occur to both children and adults. They may last for a few seconds and come
once in a lifetime, or they may happen repeatedly and constitute a permanent change of
consciousness. With baffling impartiality they may descend upon those who never heard
of them, as upon those who have spent years trying to cultivate them by some type of
discipline. They have been regarded, equally, as a disease of consciousness with
symptoms everywhere the same, like measles, and as a vision of higher reality such as
comes in moments of scientific or psychological insight. They may turn people into
monsters and megalomaniacs, or transform them into saints and sages. While there is no
sure way of inducing these experiences, a favorable atmosphere may be created by
intense concentration, by fasting, by sensory deprivation, by hyper-oxygenation, by
prolonged emotional stress, by profound relaxation, or by the use of certain drugs.
Experiences of this kind underlie some of the great world religions—Hinduism,
Buddhism and Taoism in particular, and, to a much lesser extent, Judaism, Christianity,
and Islam. As expressed in the doctrines of these religions, they purport to be an account
of "the way things are" and therefore invite comparison with descriptions of the universe
and of man given by physicists and biologists. They contradict common sense so
violently and are accompanied with such a powerful sense of authenticity and reality
(more real than reality is a common description) that men have always wondered whether
they are divine revelations or insidious delusions.
