Johannesburg Travel Video Guide
Travel video about destination Johannesburg in South Africa.
Johannesburg is the commercial centre of South Africa. Since gold was first discovered, everything has revolved around money and from the 50th floor of Africa's tallest building, The Carlton Towers, there is an all-engulfing view of the city's narrow streets and jungle of concrete and glass.
The African Museum is a contemporary building and one of South Africa's most exquisite landmarks. It contains a large variety of geological exhibits and detailed accounts of the citys' past surface mining that gave rise to the country's massive gold rush. The resistance to apartheid is also illustrated, as well as that of the history of Africa's native inhabitants who journeyed from present day Botswana to the south of the country.
Gold Reef City is a large historical theme park that features the Johannesburg of pioneering times and focuses on the clothing, houses and entertainments of the country's golden years. On display are some of the old mining wagons that the workers used to transport the precious rock from the unforgiving mines and there's also a chance to see liquid gold, as it is turned into bullion and processed as gold coins.
In contrast to Johannesburg, Pretoria grew at a calmer pace and has developed from a Boer farming municipality into South Africa's administrative capital. Located on a hill is the Voortrekker Monument that is a reminder of the Boers' Great Trek and in 1830, the crucial battle in which they defeated the Zulus.
Sun City is a magnificent fantasy world full of African ambience and the Sun City Hotel is the casino that made Sol Kerzner the richest man in South Africa, whereas the futuristic Cascades Hotel derived its name from its wonderful setting of waterfalls, pools and lush plant life.
Johannesburg and this whole region of South Africa is the sunshiny place to be!

Raising kids in Johannesburg comes with its challenges. On the one hand, the city’s reputation for crime concerns both expatriate and local parents who naturally fear for their children’s safety. On the other, Joburg has earned a reputation in some quarters for there not being much to do outside of its sprawling malls and the playgrounds of its mega nurseries.
This couldn’t be further from the truth. There is a wealth of activities for expat children to take part in and which can help them adjust to their new surroundings. While safety is justifiably a concern for expat parents, with the necessary precautions and lifestyle adjustments, their children are likely to happy and secure in their new lives.
he adult literacy rate in 2007 was 88.7%. South Africa has a 3 tier system of education starting with primary school, followed by high school and tertiary education in the form of (academic) universities and universities of technology. Learners have twelve years of formal schooling, from grade 1 to 12. Grade R is a pre-primary foundation year. Primary schools span the first seven years of schooling. High School education spans a further five years. The Senior Certificate examination takes place at the end of grade 12 and is necessary for tertiary studies at a South African university.
Public universities in South Africa are divided into three types: traditional universities, which offer theoretically oriented university degrees; universities of technology ("Technikons"), which offer vocational oriented diplomas and degrees; and comprehensive universities, which offer both types of qualification. There are 23 public universities in South Africa: 11 traditional universities, 6 universities of technology and 6 comprehensive universities.
Under apartheid, schools for blacks were subject to discrimination through inadequate funding and a separate syllabus called Bantu Education which was only designed to give them sufficient skills to work as labourers. In 2004 South Africa started reforming its higher education system, merging and incorporating small universities into larger institutions, and renaming all higher education institutions "university" to redress these imbalances.
Between state power, tribe(s), ancestral figures, Johannesburg is a great city to live in.
Call of africa.
Public expenditure on education was at 5.4% of the 2002–05 GDP.

Johannesburg is steadily expanding to join up with Pretoria to the north and the industrial towns of Vanderbijlpark and Vereeniging to the south

South Africa Travel Video Guide
Travel video about destination South-Africa.
Johannesburg is the commercial centre of South Africa. Since gold was first discovered there, everything has revolved around money and from the 50th floor of Africa’s tallest building, The Carlton Towers, there is an all-engulfing view of the city’s narrow streets and jungle of concrete and glass. The African Museum is a contemporary building and one of South Africa’s most exquisite landmarks, it contains a large variety of geological exhibits and detailed accounts of the city’s past surface mining that gave rise to the country’s massive gold rush. The resistance to apartheid is also illustrated, as well as the history of Africa’s native inhabitants who journeyed from present day Botswana to the south of the country. In contrast to Johannesburg, Pretoria grew at a calmer pace and has developed from a Boer farming municipality into South Africa’s administrative capital. Located on a hill is the Vortrekker Monument that is a reminder of the Boers’ Great Trek and, in 1830, the crucial battle in which they defeated the Zulus. The route travels northeast over the misty and one time heavily defended Drakens Mountains in the direction of the Kruger Park that extends along the border with Mosambique. From Kruger, the journey continues across Swaziland and Kwazulu Natal to Port Elizabeth on the Indian Ocean’s south coast. Along the rocky coastline a road leads to the southernmost tip of Africa, the Cape Of Good Hope. For those lucky enough to experience it, the drive on the spectacular mountain road around the Cape is an amazing adventure. One of the many natural wonders of this unique land that unites European influence with African pride.

Southern Africa (South-Africa/Namibia/Botswana) Travel Video Guide
South Africa is not only impressive due to its size but also due to its amazing variety of fascinating scenery. Its paradise-like flora and fauna plus its historic and famous landmarks are totally captivating. Johannesburg is a modern metropolis and with around a million and a half inhabitants is the capital of Gauteng Province and the largest city in South Africa. It was founded in 1886 when gold was first discovered at Witwater Beach. Although European influence is obvious in South Africa the first inhabitants of this fascinating country were of course the various indigenous people of Africa and the village of Lesedi around twenty five kilometres south of Johannesburg provides many insights into ancient Africa’s traditions and dances. Lesedi contains four tiny villages that are inhabited by Zulus, Xhosas and members of the smaller Pedi and Basotho tribes. Close to Pilgrim’s Rest is one of the most beautiful landscapes in South Africa, Blyde River Canyon, a spectacular twenty six kilometre long and eight hundred metre deep canyon where erosion caused by the confluence of the Treu and Blyde rivers has created a number of amazing rock formations. With its many craters Moon Valley is evocative of the lunar landscape. This unusual area was formed during a wet period around four hundred and sixty million years ago by the Swakop River that is one of the longest and widest rivers in Namibia. The region became famous due to a miraculous plant, the Welwitschia Mirabilis, a living fossil that was first discovered in the middle of the nineteenth century and can survive for up to six hundred years. The Etosha National Park in the north of Namibia is one of the largest nature reserves in the world. In the dry winter months hundreds of thousands of animals gather and make this park into Africa’s most populated wildlife area. Man must continue to be fully aware of his responsibility to nature and nowhere more so than in Southern Africa that is one of the last natural paradises on Earth.

Nairobi is Kenya's busy, expensive yet dangerous capital city. It is also both fascinating and modern. Nairobi is the country's most important and beautiful city and with the finest temperate climate between Johannesburg and Cairo, is located at an altitude of almost 1,700 metres above sea level.
The government district of City Square contains the Conference Centre and the Kanu Tower, the headquarters of government and the city's tallest building.
Canons guard the main entrance to the National Museum that is situated on Museum Hill, a fascinating building that covers much of Kenya's culture and history. The museum provides an interesting insight into Pre-history as well as to various cultures and the country's flora and fauna.
Directly in front of the city gates is the Nairobi National Park, the oldest of all Kenya's nature parks. Groups of ostriches can be seen bathing in the hot sand. A number of springboks stroll around elegantly between scattered rocks and trees that have been uprooted by elephants close to the city's skyline.
Nairobi is a metropolis in the 'Realm of The Golden Sun' and is undoubtedly one of the most fascinating cities in the world.

Johannesburg (Jo'burg to the white population, E'Goli, the "city of gold", to the blacks), the third largest city in Africa, after Cairo and Alexandria, and the world's youngest city to pass the million mark, lies on the highveld, South Africa's central plateau, on the edge of the Witwatersrand, an 80km/50mi long range of hills, rich in minerals, which rises only 300m/1000ft above the surrounding country. Johannesburg is steadily expanding to join up with Pretoria to the north and the industrial towns of Vanderbijlpark and Vereeniging to the south, together forming the province of Gauteng (until 1994 Pretoria-Witwatersrand-Vereeniging, or PWV for short). The province, with only 2% of South Africa's total area, contains 25% of its population.
It is difficult to establish the exact population of Johannesburg. The white population has remained fairly constant for some years at around 500,000; estimates of the black population range widely between 1 and 2 million (excluding the black ghetto of Soweto, which was separated from Johannesburg in 1983 and has a population of at least 2 million).
Although many gold-mines in and around the city have been closed down, Johannesburg is still the financial and industrial metropolis of South Africa. Most of the country's leading industrial firms have their headquarters here, and 70% of South Africa's industrial production comes from the Witwatersrand area. The city's Stock Exchange is one of the busiest in the world.
Johannesburg has three universities - the (English-language) University of the Witwatersrand, founded in 1922, the Rand Afrikaans University, founded in 1966, and the Vista University in Soweto, whose students are exclusively black - as well as a college of technology and a teachers' training college. In recent years there has been a great flowering of art and culture in Johannesburg, and the city's international cultural scene has sent fresh impulses throughout the country.
For many visitors to South Africa, Johannesburg is their first port of call, and many of them stay no more than a day or two before escaping from the city with its grave social problems. Certainly Johannesburg is not a beautiful town, and its architecture has only limited appeal. It has a high crime rate. But it is the South African city with the most stimulating atmosphere. While elsewhere in South Africa white and black people lived separate lives (and still do), in Johannesburg a gradual process of getting together had begun. Here you will meet more blacks of higher social status than elsewhere; here beats the heart of the new South Africa. Against this background it is well worth spending several days in South Africa's largest city. Visitors should, however, bear in mind the high crime rate. It is inadvisable to walk about after dark, when Johannesburg becomes a ghost town. The best way of seeing the sights is by taxi or on an organized tour. And of course it is advisable to dress simply and avoid flaunting an expensive camera. But there is no need to panic: the newspapers may report unpleasant incidents but they have little to say about the 3 million people who survive the day in Johannesburg unscathed.
Johannesburg International Airport (formerly Jan Smuts) the largest in southern Africa - is 25km/15 mi east of the city center. There are regular half-hourly bus services (5am-10pm) between the airport and the air terminal in the city center

For the first in our Worn In series, we travel to downtown Johannesburg, where for the Skhothane, life is all about looking good and making money. 2011 Film Festival, Johannesburg
I have no experience as a presenter but have some in the production industry, having worked on the and on the TV Show Live and Soweto TV when it started. On this day , the presenter unfortunately could not make it to the shoot and i was roped in to assist with interviews.
With just 48 hours to spare, 48 teams were required to make a 7minute short film to be submitted at 7am on that 48th hour using props: "Chef Samuel Khumalo, a key and a certain phrase. Only one winner was selected to represent SA in the other Film Festivals held globally.
it was also my first experience of the Film Festival and i got to interview a few well-known South African TV darlings. What an honour and a pleasure.

Relationship Healing Spells +27783223616 in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban, Cape Town, Midrand, Polokwane, Soweto, Tembisa, Port Elizabeth, Bloemfontein, Boksburg, Alberton, East London, Pietermaritzburg, Benoni
The purpose of the Heal My Relationship spell is to simply align your spirit with your loved one and put your relationship back on the same track.
This spell is for you, if:
1. The person you love is so bitter and angry they are not willing to listen to reason.
2. It appears that no matter what you say or do - whether you apologize or admit past mistakes - they are so resistant, you feel you are talking to a wall.
3. You know in your heart that you are right - that the two of you are meant to be together, and if you get a second chance, the relationship will fulfill your dreams of happiness.
4. You feel that your loved one's heart is being poisoned by outside forces, and you have been unsuccessful up to now to convince them that it is not your fault.
5. The Heal My Relationship spell is designed to break down the walls of resistance and to heal the wounds inflicted by past differences. It could work wonders for the two of you, allowing you to have the relationship of your dreams.
If you believe there are powers in the universe that we can neither comprehend nor see, perhaps it's time for you to let these powers work for you. A Master Psychic who specializes in broken relationships is awaiting your call.
The two of you can be a perfect couple again, but only if you are given that second chance.

Passenger Live In Johannesburg (Zoo Lake)
This is a live performance of Passenger (Mike Rosenberg) in the great city of Johannesburg South Africa. During this show he also shared with us a great but sad story that helped him quit smoking, this story made it into a song and the song is called non other then "Riding to New York".
This is only one of a few songs he played during this event unfortunately my phone battery died as I was recording. Please do excuse the terrible voices from some of the people in the crowd haha at least the sang along.
