To See You is American artist Harry Connick, Jr.'s album of love songs, recorded with a symphony orchestra, released in 1997.
"The inspiration for this was a flight attendant, really," Connick says. "She asked if I had any romantic records, and I thought maybe it was time to do a romantic album."
Connick toured the United States and Europe with a full symphony orchestra backing him and his piano in each city. As part of his tour, he played at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert in Oslo, Norway, with his final concert of that tour in Paris being recorded for a St. Valentine's Day special on PBS in 1998.
The songs are written, arranged and orchestrated by Harry Connick, Jr.
Track #6 "Learn to Love", appears in the movie Kissing a Fool from 1998.
Track #2 "To See You" appears in the compilation album Songs from the Heart, which was marketed for Valentine's Day.
America3 (pronounced "America Cubed") is the name of both a syndicate that vied for the America's Cup in 1992 and 1995 and its boats.
The program was operated by Bill Koch and Harry "Buddy" Melges in the 1992 America's Cup. After winning the Defender Series, America3 defeated the Italian challenger Il Moro di Venezia to successfully defend the Cup.
The yacht was built by Goetz Custom Sailboats Inc. in Rhode Island and the carbon fiber mast package was built by the Offshore Spars Co. in Michigan.
In 1995, Bill Koch revamped the program to begin the first all-female, America's Cup boat. America3's successor, Mighty Mary, was on her way to the 1995 America's Cup, in the lead of the last race of the Defender Series over Stars & Stripes. But with a commanding lead of nearly 5 minutes, Dave Dellenbaugh (the only man on the otherwise all-female crew) committed a crucial tactical error and Stars & Stripes skipper Dennis Conner made a series of moves to beat Mighty Mary to the finish line by scant seconds. After winning the Defender Series, Conner opted to use the third syndicate that year, Young America, to defend the cup, losing to Team New Zealand, 5-0.
America is a studio album by American electronic musician Dan Deacon, released August 27, 2012 on Domino Records. The album cover is a photo of Lake Placid.
America was recorded using both electronic sounds and live recordings. An anechoic chamber was built in Baltimore to record the orchestral track "Rail." The reason Deacon decided to incorporate live instruments onto the album was that Deacon felt that electronic beats were limited by its lack of flaws and that he wanted the "slight imperfection in timing" human musicians have. Because he wanted the album to sound "more like a rock record" than an electronic one, Deacon enlisted King Crimson engineer Simon Heyworth to master the album.
In an interview with NPR, Deacon said that the album was inspired by the politics and geography of the United States, saying:
Deacon described the album as "political," saying that the lyrics were "[..] inspired by my frustration, fear and anger towards the country and world I live in and am a part of." However, Deacon also said that he did not want the political nature to be overt, arguing that people do not respond to overt political messages.
America is a young adult novel written by E.R. Frank. It tells the story of America, a fifteen-year-old biracial boy who had gotten lost in the system.
The author of the book, E.R. Frank, is herself a social worker. In an author's note at the end of the book, she says she has worked with many Americas over the years.
The book was made into a 2009 TV movie on the Lifetime Television network, starring Philip Johnson as America and Rosie O'Donnell as his therapist. Although Dr. B is a female in the movie, Dr. B is portrayed as a male in the novel.
Born to a crack addict, America was given to a rich white family. They decided they didn't want him any more after his skin started to darken at the age of five years. The family's nanny, Sylvia Harper, adopts/fosters America. She had a "man-friend" named Clark Poignant, and a half-brother named Browning. Clark Poignant befriended America. After a year, America gets sent back to his biological mother by the state. Browning tells America to be as bad as he possibly can, so he will get sent back to them. America's mother lived in a shoddy house in New York City with America's two older brothers, named Brooklyn and Lyle.
John Barleycorn Must Die is the fourth studio album by the English rock band Traffic, released in 1970, on Island Records in the United Kingdom, and United Artists in the United States, catalogue UAS 5504. It peaked at number 5 on the Billboard 200, their highest charting album in the US, and has been certified a gold record by the RIAA. In addition, the single "Empty Pages" spent eight weeks on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at number 74. The album was marginally less successful in the UK, reaching number 11 on the UK Albums Chart.
In late 1968, Traffic disbanded, guitarist Dave Mason having left the group for the second time prior to the completion of the Traffic album. In 1969, Steve Winwood joined the supergroup Blind Faith, while drummer/lyricist Jim Capaldi and woodwinds player Chris Wood turned to session work. Wood and Winwood also joined Blind Faith's drummer Ginger Baker in his post-Blind Faith group Ginger Baker's Air Force for their first album.

My version of a song written and sung by Dan Peek on America's Holiday Album. Holiday is the fourth original studio album by American folk rock band America, released by Warner Bros. Records in June 1974. The album was produced in London by noted Beatles producer George Martin. Lyrics Bells ring in in my ear Voices I hear Whispering daily to me Love in your fire High on a wire When I know you're near me God, I'm glad to see you I thought you'd left me far away I wouldn't give much to be you But I want you to know I feel this way All over the world Flags are being unfurled Waving before the dawning I'm watching the show The last one to know Which way that things are going God, I'm glad to know you I thought you'd left me far away I wouldn't give...
America Profile: Formed in 1969 by Gerry Beckley (guitar, piano, vocals), Dewey Bunnell (guitar, vocals) and Dan Peek (guitar, keyboards, vocals) who were all sons of US Servicemen stationed in England. They achieved success with their debut single "A Horse With No Name" which showcased their pop rock vocal harmony style. Further appearances in the singles charts followed with "Ventura Highway" and "Tin Man" along with album hits. The band has seen various reincarnations as anything from a duo to a 7 piece outfit, with Dan Peek leaving in 1977 (although he did rejoin for a few live appearances). America are still touring and releasing live and studio albums and consists nowadays, in their 16th personnel line-up, of the core duo of Beckley & Bunnell with Willie Leacox (drums/percussion), M...

Sleeping in a yellow cab
My head against the barrier
Lost 'em as we touched St. Anne
Stepped from the ferry boat there
Looked around the terminal
Paid the toll
And split the fare
Wake me up oh wake me before Union Square
Got a couple numbers to call ah
Tryin' to wrack my brains
But I can't think of the name
Of the hotel at all
We're off to see America
We're asking for directions yes
We're off to see America
We're tumbling in our chariot
Speeding over soaking streets
Tides of the destitute wail
Coughing up a lung of steam
Rise from the underground rail
Never felt so far away
Up 'till now
But I was green
Wake me up oh wake me before Union Square
Got a couple numbers to call ah
Tryin' to wrack my brains
But I can't think of the names
Of the people at all
We're off to see America
We're asking for directions yes
We're off to find America
We're tumbling in our chariot
What a slender thread I've been clinging to
All these cracks for me to slip into
We're off to see America
We're off to see America
We're asking for directions yes
We're tumbling in our chariot
Ooh see America
America
