Scarlet fever is a disease caused by erythrogenic toxin (a bacterial exotoxin) released by Streptococcus pyogenes. Once a major cause of death, it is now effectively treated with antibiotics. The term scarlatina may be used interchangeably with scarlet fever, though it is most often used to indicate the less acute form of scarlet fever seen since the beginning of the twentieth century.
Scarlet fever was feared in the pre-antibiotic era, as it was associated with the late post-streptococcal complications of glomerulonephritis and endocarditis leading to heart valve disease, all of which were protracted and often fatal afflictions at the time.
This disease is most common in 4-8 year olds with males and females being equally affected. By the age of 10 years most children have acquired protective antibodies and scarlet fever at this age or older is rare.[dubious – discuss]
It is usually spread by the aerosol route (inhalation) but may also be spread by skin contact or by fomites.
Asymptomatic carriage may occur in 15-20% of school-age children.

Plot: A queer parody of classic soap operas such as Dynasty and The Bold and the Beautiful, The Vicious and the Delicious explores the shocking scandals of the powerful Cassamento family and their lovers. Silvo lies in a deep coma and will surely die without an esophagus transplant. Vivian loves Silvo desperately, and will stop at nothing to save him. Electra is engaged to Scarlet, but Scarlet is having a baby with Electra's mother, Charmaine. Behind their glamorous facades, there are no innocent parties, and the question remains; will Silvo ever get that life-saving esophagus? And if so, whose esophagus will it be?

And her kiss
Why'd it taste so sweet
You put me on the sick list
I was fine
You knocked me off my feet
It's a poison
So strong
That it won't let go
Strange emotion
But what hit me
Baby I don't know
Na na na na na na
All that I see
Is a color in my head
Na na na na na na
I've got the disease
From the lips painted red
Scarlet fever
I got it bad
Contageous all the way
Scarlet fever
In my head
It's red hot night and day
Yeah - Yeah - Yeah
My heart was barley beating
Cold chills
Running down my spine
My meter wasn't reading
Overload
Past the danger zone
Sweet seduction
With a look she stopped me in my tracks
Panic button
With a touch there's no turning back
Na na na na na na
Red hot lips
The ____ flickers and the ____ ____
Na na na na na na
I can't walk away
You are the hunter
And I am the prey
(chorus)
Poison from her red lips
And her kiss
Why'd it taste so sweet
You put me on the sick list
I was fine
You knocked me off my feet
