China, officially the People's Republic of China (PRC), is a sovereign state in East Asia. It is the world's most populous country, with a population of over 1.35 billion. The PRC is a one-party state governed by the Communist Party, with its seat of government in the capital city of Beijing. It exercises jurisdiction over 22 provinces; five autonomous regions; four direct-controlled municipalities (Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai and Chongqing); two mostly self-governing special administrative regions (Hong Kong and Macau); and claims sovereignty over Taiwan.
Covering approximately 9.6 million square kilometers, China is the world's second-largest country by land area, and either the third or fourth-largest by total area, depending on the method of measurement. China's landscape is vast and diverse, ranging from forest steppes and the Gobi and Taklamakan deserts in the arid north to subtropical forests in the wetter south. The Himalaya, Karakoram, Pamir and Tian Shan mountain ranges separate China from South and Central Asia. The Yangtze and Yellow Rivers, the third- and sixth-longest in the world, run from the Tibetan Plateau to the densely populated eastern seaboard. China's coastline along the Pacific Ocean is 14,500 kilometres (9,000 mi) long, and is bounded by the Bohai, Yellow, East and South China Seas.

Strong wind brought by Typhoon Sarika damaged crops in south China's Guangdong Province on Tuesday as the typhoon made landfall in southern China's Hainan Province. The wind reached hurricane force in Guangdong's Xuwen County, causing serious damage to banana plants, the main local cash crop. "The wind this morning was even stronger than it is now. Now, it is about gale force, but this morning it was as strong as a storm or a violent storm. About 90 percent of my banana plants have been damaged," said Wen Xueli, a banana grower. Wen said that as the wind is still strong, he will have to wait until Wednesday to salvage what he can from his one hectare of banana plants. With Sanika expected to pass south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on Wednesday, residents in coastal areas we...

Today, investors are on edge, sitting on the sidelines just hours ahead of the US presidential election. Nevertheless, traders should not neglect macroeconomic reports. This morning, China’s customs administration released trade data for October, which showed ongoing contraction in export sales. China’s exports have been falling for seven month in a row. According to the official data, China's October exports tumbled 7.3% on-year on a dollar-denominated basis. It is worse than a 6% decline predicted by analysts. Foreign trade balance proficit increased to 49.56 billion dollars while economists had expected wider proficit of 51.90 billion dollars. Besides, imports also signal the persistent negative dynamic in China’s economy. Soft domestic demand and consumer spending account for ...

Beijing punk band SUBS and one of their songs from the album DOWN. SUBS was formed in the cold Beijing winter of 2002 by vocalist Kang Mao, guitarist Wu Hao, drummer Shi Xudong and bass player Sun Xia, but the band would have to wait a few months until the present bass player, Zhu Lei came along and finalized the line-up. SUBS gathers inspiration for their screaming punk rock pleasures from bands such as the Hives, Fugazi and the Yeah Yeah Yeah's, while at the same time making their own distinct mark on the world of rock. The band's live performances are riotous explosions of pure musical energy displaying a commitment seldom seen on the Chinese punk scene. And when the guitarist Wu Hao, who happens to sport the coolest afro since Shaft, goes bad on his Gibson, you know you are having ...

Shanghai - China Travel Guide, Tourism, Vacation World Travel https://www.youtube.com/user/World1Tube Shanghai - China Travel Guide http://goo.gl/Cl0qNG Shanghai is the future all other Chinese cities aspire to reach. Forget creaking temples and dusty old palaces (there are plenty of them elsewhere); Shanghai is where people come to see modern China at its glimmering best. This fast-paced city of towering skyscrapers is, in fact, not without its own significant history. Its glory days of the 1930s helped build Shanghai's reputation as a City of Sin. But to pause for too long at the city's past would be missing the point: Shanghai is all about the future face of the world's future super power, and coming here is to witness what makes the business end of China tick. Perhaps best visited at...
Guess what President Obama and the elite are up to THIS TIME! In a recent headline from South China Morning Post, it was announced that China and the United States are set to ratify the Paris climate deal ahead of the 11th G20 Summit — which is set to take place on September 4-5th, 2016, in Hangzhou, China. Attendees for this summit will include President Barack Obama, President Xi Jinping of China, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President François Hollande, Russian President Vladimir Putin — along with members from the European Union (EU), and many others. Ratifying such a treaty will be paramount: not just for America, but also for all of the other nations involved. However, if enacted in America specifically, Mr. Obama would be going against the Constitution, and would be t...
Ko Hyon Chol, defector to south Korea who was arrested for committing an anti-DPRK hostile act on the instruction of the south Korean puppet Intelligence Service (IS), was interviewed at the People's Palace of Culture here on July 15. Present there were domestic and foreign journalists, members of foreign embassies and international bodies here and overseas compatriots staying in the DPRK. Ko spoke at the interview: I betrayed my homeland and such betrayal can never be forgiven. But I asked for this press conference to reveal the vicious anti-DPRK moves of the U.S. and the south Korean puppet group. I am 53 years old. I was born in Jongju City, North Phyongan Province and had lived in Namha-dong, Sinuiju City before defecting to the south. When the country had a hard time, I worked at the ...

Thank you China. 2 years ago, when i was leaving the 10 months I spent in mexico behind and was full of doubt about what I wanted/ should do with my next step, I was pretty convinced i wanted to stay in Milwaukee and make money. I told my self that after I make a enough money I can go travel the world and start my dreams. I was pretty content with my choice, yet i was constantly having to convince my self it was the right thing to do- which i was usually able to do. Then I came across this: "I love waking up in the morning and not knowing what's going to happen,or who I'm going to meet, where I am going to wind up. Good News & Bad News day on the duck adventure... When I got up this morning first thing I did was go into the back room and once again noticed the hatcher running it's cooling fan while the heat was on, another controller died and the hatcher lost all of it's humidity or most of it. The remaining eggs in the hatcher were now subjected to really low humidity but they didn't over heat, this made in China stuff is really depressing me. I have another controller but it doesn't have a cooling cycle to it only a heat control, I turned off the power to the hatcher and turned it back on and the controller seems to be working now again. Can't replace the controller until the eggs are finished in the hatcher and the gosling are ready to be transferred to the barn, so I might have to wait till to...
Hari & Aruna Sharma checked in on Dec 8, 2011 in Salvo Hotel King Suite Shanghai, China during their visit to World Congress on Parkinson's Disease, Shanghai Dec 11-14, 2011. When they arrived to the hotel from Pudong International Airport (PVG) and presented their reservation to the reception, they are overwhelmed to know that they are Chinese VVIP and thus, their check in will not be here although they have their two rooms suite. So they are requested to go to 31st Floor for VVIP checking and reception. They were offered drink, snacks and food until the room is prepared for them. Normally the hotel accepts check-in at 2 PM but they arrived at 10:30 and their room was ready at 11:00 AM. This is Chinese great hospitality. Aruna & Hari were moved by this Gesture. On the contrary when they a...

Thursday begins with Travis picking up a co-worker from the airport as Mandy gets ready for the day. First we go to the O Club on Kadena to get a refund from the Staff Sergeant Release Party last month. Then we stop by the BX so Travis can get his hair cut and we run into Amanda, Larry and the kiddos. So we change up plans a bit and hang out there with them, grab lunch before heading to Cocok's where Mandy, Amanda and the girls get pedicures. Cocok's offers some of the most incredible nail art I've ever seen. After we leave Cocok's we head up north to Onna where our other friends that are leaving live. Their house offers an absolutely beautiful view of the ocean and surrounding town. The movie Sully is playing that evening, so after that we head back to Kadena to watch the movie as a famil...
