An axiom is a self-evident truth, for example, the prerequisites of magick. What is necessary to perform magick? The sorcerer needs to exist—individuality. The sorcerer cannot be restricted from magick—freedom. The sorcerer needs strength—power. These three axioms constitute the principles of the Left Hand Path. In other words, black magicians uphold these essentials first and foremost, and measure their own conduct against them. --- An ideal is a theoretical ambition derived from principle. The ideal of the Left Hand Path is known as Ascent to Godhood, which is the condition of maximum individuality, freedom, and power. No human has ever proved the existence of god, nor demonstrated the attainment of true Godhood, thus the ideal remains theoretical. Nevertheless, it encapsulates the duty of black magicians. --- Acknowledgement that the ideal is theoretical and not actual, differentiates philosophy from religion. Black magick comprises a philosophy in that it admits idealism, whereas white magick comprises a religion in that it believes that its fiction is real. As an example, the Left Hand Path concedes that Godhood exists as a theory, because we know we cannot prove it. The Right Hand Path believes that divinity exists in actuality, even though they cannot prove it. --- In mythology, a sovereign god possesses omniscience, omnipotence, and omnipresence. Hence, in accord with the ideal of Godhood, sorcerers enact the praxeology of divination, evocation, and soul travel. We call these the Three Godlike Powers. --- Adversarialism, the ethic of Satanism, means rebellion against tyranny, in particular, revolt against coercive divinity. Adversarialism defends the ideal of Godhood, in that a black magician fights back against any force that tries to stop their Ascent. --- In summary, a valid philosophy commences with self-evident axioms, which derive the principles, amount to the ideal, and enable the praxeology. The Left Hand Path commences with the axioms of magick, which derive the principles of individuality, freedom, and power, amount to the ideal of Godhood, and enact the praxeology of divination, evocation, and soul travel.
