Greta Gynt (15 November 1916 – 2 April 2000), born Margrethe Woxholt, was a Norwegian singer, dancer and actress.
Greta Gynt was born Margrethe Woxholt in Oslo, Norway. As a child, she came with her parents to Britain and started dancing lessons at the age of 5. Eventually, they moved back to Norway. At aged 12, she started out as a dancer at the Chat Noir shows in Oslo. After the Swedish film Sången till henne (1934), her mother, costume designer Kirsten Woxholt, felt her daughter would have better luck in Britain. She got a letter of recommendation from Fox Film and moved back to the UK.
She played lead roles in minor British films in the 1930s and '40s. The Rank Organisation was trying to market her as the British Jean Harlow. She also tried an unsuccessful career in the US, and went back to Britain afterwards.
Her most famous film is the 1939 Bela Lugosi film The Dark Eyes of London. Her last film was a Columbia Pictures release - the 1963 (released 1966) The Runaway in which she played the lead.
Sonja Henie (8 April 1912 – 12 October 1969) was a Norwegian figure skater and film star. She was a three-time Olympic Champion (1928, 1932, 1936) in Ladies' Singles, a ten-time World Champion (1927–1936) and a six-time European Champion (1931–1936). Henie won more Olympic and World titles than any other ladies' figure skater. At the height of her acting career she was one of the highest paid stars in Hollywood.
Henie was born in Kristiania, current Oslo, the only daughter of Wilhelm Henie (1872–1937), a prosperous Norwegian furrier, and his wife Selma Lochmann-Nielsen (1888–1961). In addition to the income from the fur business, both of Henie's parents had inherited wealth. Wilhelm Henie had been a one-time World Cycling Champion and the Henie children were encouraged to take up a variety of sports at a young age. Henie initially showed talent at skiing, and then followed her older brother Leif to take up figure skating. As a girl, Henie was also a nationally ranked tennis player and a skilled swimmer and equestrienne. Once Henie began serious training as a figure skater, her formal schooling ended. She was educated by tutors, and her father hired the best experts in the world, including the famous Russian ballerina Tamara Karsavina, to transform his daughter into a sporting celebrity.
The name Greta is derived from the name Margaret, which comes from the Greek word margarites or "pearl."

Take My Life is a 1947 British crime film directed by Ronald Neame and starring Hugh Williams, Greta Gynt and Marius Goring. It was adapted from Winston Graham's eponymous 1947 novel by the same name.
Nicholas "Nicky" Talbot attends the London debut of his wife, opera singer Philippa Shelley, at Covent Garden. After her successful performance, Nicky runs into former girlfriend Elizabeth Rusman backstage, a musician in the orchestra, who asks for his help. She gives him her address before Philippa appears (and keeps his personalised pencil). At home, Nicky and a jealous Philippa quarrel over Elizabeth. When Philippa throws an object that strikes her husband in the forehead, he leaves in a huff.
The scene then shifts to a courtroom, where the prosecuting counsel reveals that Nicky is on trial for the strangulation of Elizabeth that night. A flashback shows the murderer setting fire to the body. When the killer leaves the flat, he conceals his face from a man using a handkerchief pressed to his forehead, leading the police to assume he has been injured there. Also, the pencil is found at the scene of the crime. The police take Nicky into custody.

Debonair screen veteran Jack Buchanan, Norwegian beauty Greta Gynt and monocled character player Fred Emney are among the many stars of this riotous comedy adapting a play by writer and Naval officer Stephen King-Hall, and noted novelist, playwright and historian Ian Hay. The Middle Watch is featured here in a brand-new transfer from the original film elements, in its as-exhibited theatrical aspect ratio. This superior murder thriller was the directorial debut of Ronald Neame, who had worked closely as cinematographer with David Lean on some of his earlier films ('In Which We Serve'; ‘This Happy Breed'; ‘Great Expectations'; ‘Oliver Twist'), and then co-producer, and went on to direct Alec Guinness & John Mills in ‘Tunes of Glory', Judy Garland & Dirk Bogarde in ‘I Could Go on Singing', and Maggie Smith in ‘The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie' amongst many others. As with so many crime thrillers this story revolves around mistaken identity and has a solid, but unremarkable, lead in Hugh Williams (father of Simon Williams), as a suspected murderer and a very glamourous Greta Gynt as his supportive wife. A nicely aggressive turn by Francis L Sullivan as the Prosecuting Counsel who is quite determin...
