Midrand

Midrand is an area between Sandton and Centurion in Gauteng, South Africa. It falls under the Greater Johannesburg Metropolitan Area.

Midrand has many famous landmarks such as Gallagher Estate, the largest conference in South Africa and the Nizamiye Mosque, the biggest mosque in the country. The Kyalami racetrack, South Africa's A1 Grand Prix venue is also situated in Midrand. The only Lipizzaner riding academy is also situated in Kyalami, Midrand.

Politically, Midrand is the seat for the African Union's Pan African Parliament as well as the home of the secretariat to NEPAD (New Partnership for Africa's Development).

Midrand has a population of around 50,000 people, over half of which are Black South Africans. The dominating language is English, spoken as a first language by over 40% of the population.

Midrand is a growing modern city which is attractive to businesses as it is situated close to the major national highways and also has a Gautrain station.
