Bonifacio Global City Overview Driving Tour Taguig. Bonifacio Global City (aka BGC or The Fort) is a financial district in Metro Manila, Philippines. It is located 5 km from Makati through Mckinley Road. In the past decade, the district has experienced robust commercial growth since the sale of previously military land by the Bases Conversion and Development Authority. The entire district used to be the part of the main Philippine Army camp. In 1995, Bonifacio Land Development Corporation (BLDC) started planning a major urban development—Bonifacio Global City. Bonifacio Land Development Corporation made a successful bid of P33,283.88 per square meter for the 214-hectare Fort Bonifacio property, to become the Bases Conversion and Development Authority partner in the development of the district. The Ayala Corporation through Ayala Land, Inc., and Evergreen Holdings, Inc. of the Campos Group purchased a 50.4% controlling stake in Bonifacio Land Development Corporation from Metro Pacific in 2003 for $90 million. BCDA and the two companies now control Fort Bonifacio Development Corporation, which oversees the master planning of Bonifacio Global City. Shopping areas include: Market Market, SM Aura Premier, Serendra, Bonifacio High Street, High Street South, Central Square Mall, The Fort Strip, The Forum, Crossroads, Burgos Circle, Venice Piazza and the soon to be completed Uptown Mall. Bonifacio Global City is also home to St. Luke’s Medical Center, Mind Museum, International School of Manila, British School, Japanese School, Singapore Embassy and luxury car dealerships including Rolls Royce, Bentley, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Mercedes Benz and Lexus. Notable condominiums and developments include the Pacific Plaza Towers, Essensa, Grand Hyatt Residences, Shangri-La Hotel at the Fort.
