On July 14, 2015, the New Horizons spacecraft flew 7,800 mi above the surface of Pluto and sent back fascinating images of the dwarf planet and its large (and intriguing) moon Charon. Many of the images show unexpected beauty and complexity on Pluto’s surface. While the data are still coming in from the encounter, Dr. Moore shows the latest photos and fills us in on the current thinking among the New Horizons team members about Pluto, its moons, and the unexplored frontier that lies beyond.

The past few years we have seen the emergence of several space startups - private companies with the ability to make a profit while operating extraterrestrially. These companies can be divided into three categories: Earth-based companies developing products for space, space-based companies providing services back on earth, and companies that operate entirely off-world. All face challenges associated with operating in space, but each has unique difficulties when it comes to securing funding and developing a business plan. Tethers Unlimited, Planet Labs, and Planetary Resources, who represent the entire spectrum of space startups, will join Professor Sergio Pellegrino to discuss what is needed to succeed as a space company. Topics to explore include risks and rewards within each category, how to work with minimal existing infrastructure, and how to secure funding when the average return on investment timeline is much longer than for a typical startup.

He received a BS in Astronomy & Physics from Boston University and a PhD in Planetary Science from the University of Arizona. He worked as a post-doctoral researcher at NASA Ames Research Center and as a research scientist at the SETI Institute before making his way to the University of Tennessee. His research is motivated by discovering how the Solar System formed and evolved to its present state through physical characterization of asteroids, moons, and Kuiper Belt objects. He is a science team member of NASA's OSIRIS-REx mission.

Final Frontier (song)
"Final Frontier" is the solo debut single by MC Ren released from his debut EP, Kizz My Black Azz and his first track released after the breakup of N.W.A. It was released on September 14, 1992 and was produced by Bobby "Bobcat" Ervin of the L.A. Posse. Though the song was only a minor success, making it to 80 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks and 17 on the Hot Rap Singles, it has arguably become MC Ren's most well known song.
It has also appeared on the compilations, The N.W.A Legacy, Vol. 1: 1988–1998, Ruthless Records Tenth Anniversary: Decade of Game and Family Tree. The songs samples the Boogie Down Productions song, "The Bridge Is Over".

PLANETARY SYNAPSE: THE FINAL FRONTIER - PART ONE - 2D
This is the first part of our initial concept proposal. It reveals the passion and rebelliousness of a group of software developers in search of more democratic and accessible knowledge management .
Brands and logos included in the video belong to their respective owners.
We have included material belonging to others for the sole purpose of popularizing science. This proposal does not have any profit motive.
The video has 3 levels deep. It is in spanish and english languages.
All graphics used are related resources and lead to many opinions, all valid.
Includes music by various authors (Vanderson, Mitaka, Konstantinos), and videos taken from Amnesty International, BBC and Discovery Channel.
There are also high-quality authorial videos taken from Vimeo and YouTube.

On July 14, 2015, the New Horizons spacecraft flew 7,800 mi above the surface of Pluto and sent back fascinating images of the dwarf planet and its large (and intriguing) moon Charon. Many of the images show unexpected beauty and complexity on Pluto’s surface. While the data are still coming in from the encounter, Dr. Moore shows the latest photos and fills us in on the current thinking among the New Horizons team members about Pluto, its moons, and the unexplored frontier that lies beyond.

Abstract:
The past few years we have seen the emergence of several space startups - private companies with the ability to make a profit while operating extraterrestrially. These companies can be divided into three categories: Earth-based companies developing products for space, space-based companies providing services back on earth, and companies that operate entirely off-world. All face challenges associated with operating in space, but each has unique difficulties when it comes to securing funding and developing a business plan. Tethers Unlimited, Planet Labs, and Planetary Resources, who represent the entire spectrum of space startups, will join Professor Sergio Pellegrino to discuss what is needed to succeed as a space company. Topics to explore include risks and rewards within each category, how to work with minimal existing infrastructure, and how to secure funding when the average return on investment timeline is much longer than for a typical startup.

Dr. Emory shows us the new directions space exploration is taking, and the challenges faced by NASA and others as they proceed to the edges of our solar system and beyond.
Josh Emery grew up in central Pennsylvania, where the brilliant night sky sparked an early interest in astronomy. He received a BS in Astronomy & Physics from Boston University and a PhD in Planetary Science from the University of Arizona. He worked as a post-doctoral researcher at NASA Ames Research Center and as a research scientist at the SETI Institute before making his way to the University of Tennessee. His research is motivated by discovering how the Solar System formed and evolved to its present state through physical characterization of asteroids, moons, and Kuiper Belt objects. He is a science team member of NASA's OSIRIS-REx mission.
