Carol may refer to:
"Apples and Bananas" or "Oopples and Boo-noo-noos" is a traditionalNorth American children's song that plays with the vowels of words. The first verse usually begins unaltered:
I like to eat, eat, eat apples and bananas.
I like to eat, eat, eat apples and bananas.
The following verses replace most or all vowels with one given vowel sound, usually each of the long vowels sounds of ⟨a⟩ (/eɪ/), ⟨e⟩ (/iː/), ⟨i⟩ (/aɪ/), ⟨o⟩ (/oʊ/), and ⟨u⟩ (/uː/), although potentially any English vowel can be used. For example:
Raffi, a Canadian musician, released a version of the song on his album One Light, One Sun (1985). Raffi's version only changed the vowels in "eat", "apples", and the last 2 syllables of "bananas". The song was described as one of several "old favorites" by the Ottawa Citizen in 1984.
A nursery rhyme is a traditional poem or song for young children in Britain and many other countries, but usage only dates from the late 18th /early 19th century. In North America the term Mother Goose Rhymes, introduced in the mid-18th century, is still often used.
The oldest children's songs of which we have records are lullabies, intended to help a child sleep. Lullabies can be found in every human culture. The English term lullaby is thought to come from "lu, lu" or "la la" sound made by mothers or nurses to calm children, and "by by" or "bye bye", either another lulling sound, or a term for good night. Until the modern era lullabies were usually only recorded incidentally in written sources. The Roman nurses' lullaby, "Lalla, Lalla, Lalla, aut dormi, aut lacta", is recorded in a scholium on Persius and may be the oldest to survive.
Many medieval English verses associated with the birth of Jesus take the form of a lullaby, including "Lullay, my liking, my dere son, my sweting" and may be versions of contemporary lullabies. However, most of those used today date from the 17th century. For example, a well known lullaby such as "Rock-a-bye, baby on a tree top", cannot be found in records until the late-18th century when it was printed by John Newbery (c. 1765).
A teddy bear is a soft toy in the form of a bear. Developed apparently simultaneously by toymakers Morris Michtom in the US and Richard Steiff in Germany in the early years of the 20th century, and named after President Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt, the teddy bear became an iconic children's toy, celebrated in story, song, and film. Since the creation of the first teddy bears which sought to imitate the form of real bear cubs, "teddies" have greatly varied in form, style and material. They have become collector's items, with older and rarer "teddies" appearing at public auctions. Teddy bears are among the most popular gifts for children and are often given to adults to signify love, congratulations, or sympathy.
The name teddy bear comes from former United States President Theodore Roosevelt, who was commonly known as "Teddy" (though he loathed being referred to as such). The name originated from an incident on a bear hunting trip in Mississippi in November 1902, to which Roosevelt was invited by Mississippi Governor Andrew H. Longino. There were several other hunters competing, and most of them had already killed an animal. A suite of Roosevelt's attendants, led by Holt Collier, cornered, clubbed, and tied an American black bear to a willow tree after a long exhausting chase with hounds. They called Roosevelt to the site and suggested that he should shoot it. He refused to shoot the bear himself, deeming this unsportsmanlike, but instructed that the bear be killed to put it out of its misery, and it became the topic of a political cartoon by Clifford Berryman in The Washington Post on November 16, 1902. While the initial cartoon of an adult black bear lassoed by a handler and a disgusted Roosevelt had symbolic overtones, later issues of that and other Berryman cartoons made the bear smaller and cuter.

Irishman, Victor Hely-Hutchinson is best known for his Carol Symphony, from which the third movement was used for the title music of the 1943 Children's Hour and 1984 BBC children's television adaptation of John Masefield's The Box of Delights, in particular the variation on the theme of The First Nowell. Here is a link to that lovely Christmas drama: http://youtu.be/nR0ccgsS0To Hely-Hutchinson is also well known for his settings of various nursery rhymes and children's poems. His setting of Old Mother Hubbard is composed in the manner of Handel. His song setting of Edward Lear's The Owl and the Pussycat was notably recorded by Elton Hayes and featured on the BBC's Children's Favourites radio show (courtesy of Wikipedia). Carl Rogers's counselling session with Gloria is a third of a training film titled Three Approaches to Psychotherapy (1965). The other two sessions were with Fritz Perls (Gestalt), and Albert Ellis (Rational Emotive). Carl R Rogers; Frederick S Perls; Albert Ellis; Everett L Shostrom; Psychological & Educational Films Even though the session was short it seemed to have a life long effect on Gloria who later wrote: 'Something happened in those few short minutes which has stayed with me ever since. He simply helped me to recognize my own potential--my value as a human being. All the words couldn't possibly express the importance of that for me.'
