Update: TKA Theatre Co. received a 2016 American High School Theatre Festival award for outstanding musical theater for "Jekyll & Hyde" and has been invited to produce "Les Miserables" in London's West End and Scotland during the 2017 Fringe Festival!
The King's Academy, a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence, recently presented the Broadway musical "Jekyll & Hyde" on its main stage. Starring TKA seniors Gregorio Umana, Noelle Leinwol, and Brittany Wallace, this performance showcased young talent that will be seen on the professional stage for years to come.
TKA has an award-winning fine arts program led by Mr. David Snyder (Artistic Director, Musical Theater), Mrs. Sonia Santiago (Vocal Arts), Mrs. Cathy Higgins (Dance- Ballet and Jazz), Mrs. Jacquie Lopez (Dance- Tap, Modern and Jazz), Mrs. Alexa Tiller (Dance- Ballet, Hip Hop and Modern), Mr. Brad Majzner (Stagecraft); and fine arts conservatory led by Mr. Eric Dunn (Band Director and Department Chair), Mr. Will Smith (Assistant Band Director), Dr. Patrick Clifford (Strings), Mr. Cameron Smith (Digital Arts), Mr. Andy Camizzi (Art), Miss Mikah Adams (Popular Music), Mr. Gene George (Elementary Band) and Mrs. Robin Phillips (Elementary Choir). (Reuploaded since i accidentally uploaded the broken version..Nothing can be perfect but i try my best) just wanted to say that I know it's not well animated and reason for that is that I lost interest on working on this and I DONT WORK FOR THE SHOW. So don't expect some amazing animations from me since I'm self taught and I'm still not going to school to learn animation. Just right now i'm doing this for fun and i'm proud of that. I know animation takes a lot of work and trust me this has been a lot of work but i'll wait until i go to school for it to try and get better. I always try new things when i'm animating. Some stay in the animation some don't but still are being practiced.
Hope you guys enjoyed this Animation I REALLY wanted to get this video out of the way so i can worry about college and more projects for this channel. After hearing this voice on this character literally hundreds of times you get use to it. But anyways i'm glad this is done because you guys really wanted me to finish this and this is by far the LONGEST animation i've ever worked on and that took the MOST time. Now before you ask "Why didn't you use a fan made version of the song so she can sound like pinkie pie?" because i don't want my ears to bleed out and i feel that no one can make this song as intense as the creators.

Jekyll & Hyde was produced in 9 weeks from start to show week. A very daunting task. As Jekyll, this song was by far the most challenging and emotionally draining, which I hope comes through in this rendition. For the purists, it does come with a couple of minor word errors. So... it finally happened. This has been my major acting project and has actually been finished for quite some time, but I've been reluctant to upload it because I would've preferred my first live YouTube cover to be one in which I don't spend half the time looking horribly evil. However, since I'm not the only person who worked on this and several people have asked me to go ahead and make it public, I finally decided to get over myself and do it. (And three guesses as to which is my real hair...XD)
And now, a very-abridged-to-avoid-boring-detail explanation...
This whole "Confrontation" thing started last year when I got upset about several people not believing I could do anything other than "cute" roles --the exact words were that my trying to be dramatic would be like "watching a Muppet trying to play Lady Macbeth"-- so as an act of protest I learned this song (which ties with "In His Eyes" as my favorite J&H; piece). I ended up doing it over in the spring with a more original interpretation (and after having to learn an entirely new method of physical characterization) and since I promised a lot of people I'd record a live cover... voila.
And now, Justin, that most epic of individuals who helped me sort out the horrendous technical nightmare that this thing presented! (Without going into excruciating detail, it was... well, excruciating.) We spent weeks working out the logistics of building a workable recording setup in a very small area, and ended up with two laptops, four highly-sensitive microphones, an additional lapel microphone pinned to my collar, and a spotlight effect that shot the surrounding air temperature up about thirty degrees. Afterwards it took us an insanely long time to create a usable instrumental and to sync the thing up, and although there are still some sound issues, we think it came out decently. Justin, I can't thank you enough--this would have been completely impossible without you.

Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde
Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde is the original title of a novella written by the Scottish author Robert Louis Stevenson first published in 1886. The work is commonly known today as The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, or simply Jekyll & Hyde. It is about a London lawyer named Gabriel John Utterson who investigates strange occurrences between his old friend, Dr. Henry Jekyll, and the evil Edward Hyde. The novella's impact is such that it has become a part of the language, with the very phrase "Jekyll and Hyde" coming to mean a person who is vastly different in moral character from one situation to the next.
There have been many audio recordings of the novella, with some of the more famous readers including Tom Baker, Roger Rees, Christopher Lee, Anthony Quayle, Martin Jarvis, Tim Pigott-Smith, John Hurt, Ian Holm and Gene Lockhart.
Inspiration and writing
Stevenson had long been intrigued by the idea of how personalities can affect a human and how to incorporate the interplay of good and evil into a story. While still a teenager, he developed a script for a play about Deacon Brodie, which he later reworked with the help of W. E. Henley and was produced for the first time in 1882. In early 1884 he wrote the short story "Markheim", which he revised in 1884 for publication in a Christmas annual. One night in late September or early October 1885, possibly while he was still revising "Markheim," Stevenson had a dream, and upon wakening had the intuition for two or three scenes that would appear in the story. Biographer Graham Balfour quoted Stevenson's wife Fanny Stevenson:

The King's Academy, a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence, recently presented the Broadway musical "Jekyll & Hyde" on its main stage. Starring TKA seniors Gregorio Umana, Noelle Leinwol, and Brittany Wallace, this performance showcased young talent that will be seen on the professional stage for years to come.

(Reuploaded since i accidentally uploaded the broken version..Nothing can be perfect but i try my best) just wanted to say that I know it's not well animated and reason for that is that I lost interest on working on this and I DONT WORK FOR THE SHOW. So don't expect some amazing animations from me since I'm self taught and I'm still not going to school to learn animation. Just right now i'm doing this for fun and i'm proud of that. I know animation takes a lot of work and trust me this has been a lot of work but i'll wait until i go to school for it to try and get better. I always try new things when i'm animating. Some stay in the animation some don't but still are being practiced.
Hope you guys enjoyed this Animation I REALLY wanted to get this video out of the way so i can worry about college and more projects for this channel. After hearing this voice on this character literally hundreds of times you get use to it. But anyways i'm glad this is done because you guys really wanted me to finish this and this is by far the LONGEST animation i've ever worked on and that took the MOST time. Now before you ask "Why didn't you use a fan made version of the song so she can sound like pinkie pie?" because i don't want my ears to bleed out and i feel that no one can make this song as intense as the creators.

So... it finally happened. This has been my major acting project and has actually been finished for quite some time, but I've been reluctant to upload it because I would've preferred my first live YouTube cover to be one in which I don't spend half the time looking horribly evil. However, since I'm not the only person who worked on this and several people have asked me to go ahead and make it public, I finally decided to get over myself and do it. (And three guesses as to which is my real hair...XD)
And now, a very-abridged-to-avoid-boring-detail explanation...
This whole "Confrontation" thing started last year when I got upset about several people not believing I could do anything other than "cute" roles --the exact words were that my trying to be dramatic would be like "watching a Muppet trying to play Lady Macbeth"-- so as an act of protest I learned this song (which ties with "In His Eyes" as my favorite J&H; piece). I ended up doing it over in the spring with a more original interpretation (and after having to learn an entirely new method of physical characterization) and since I promised a lot of people I'd record a live cover... voila.
And now, Justin, that most epic of individuals who helped me sort out the horrendous technical nightmare that this thing presented! (Without going into excruciating detail, it was... well, excruciating.) We spent weeks working out the logistics of building a workable recording setup in a very small area, and ended up with two laptops, four highly-sensitive microphones, an additional lapel microphone pinned to my collar, and a spotlight effect that shot the surrounding air temperature up about thirty degrees. Afterwards it took us an insanely long time to create a usable instrumental and to sync the thing up, and although there are still some sound issues, we think it came out decently. Justin, I can't thank you enough--this would have been completely impossible without you.

The King's Academy, a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence, recently presented the Broadway musical "Jekyll & Hyde" on its main stage. Starring TKA seniors Gregorio Umana, Noelle Leinwol, and Brittany Wallace, this performance showcased young talent that will be seen on the professional stage for years to come.
TKA has an award-winning fine arts program led by Mr. David Snyder (Artistic Director, Musical Theater), Mrs. Sonia Santiago (Vocal Arts), Mrs. Cathy Higgins (Dance- Ballet and Jazz), Mrs. Jacquie Lopez (Dance- Tap, Modern and Jazz), Mrs. Alexa Tiller (Dance- Ballet, Hip Hop and Modern), Mr. Brad Majzner (Stagecraft); and fine arts conservatory led by Mr. Eric Dunn (Band Director and Department Chair), Mr. Will Smith (Assistant Band Director), Dr. Patrick Clifford (Strings), Mr. Cameron Smith (Digital Arts), Mr. Andy Camizzi (Art), Miss Mikah Adams (Popular Music), Mr. Gene George (Elementary Band) and Mrs. Robin Phillips (Elementary Choir). (Reuploaded since i accidentally uploaded the broken version..Nothing can be perfect but i try my best) just wanted to say that I know it's not well animated and reason for that is that I lost interest on working on this and I DONT WORK FOR THE SHOW. So don't expect some amazing animations from me since I'm self taught and I'm still not going to school to learn animation. Just right now i'm doing this for fun and i'm proud of that. I know animation takes a lot of work and trust me this has been a lot of work but i'll wait until i go to school for it to try and get better. I always try new things when i'm animating. Some stay in the animation some don't but still are being practiced.
Hope you guys enjoyed this Animation I REALLY wanted to get this video out of the way so i can worry about college and more projects for this channel. After hearing this voice on this character literally hundreds of times you get use to it. But anyways i'm glad this is done because you guys really wanted me to finish this and this is by far the LONGEST animation i've ever worked on and that took the MOST time. Now before you ask "Why didn't you use a fan made version of the song so she can sound like pinkie pie?" because i don't want my ears to bleed out and i feel that no one can make this song as intense as the creators.

So... it finally happened. This has been my major acting project and has actually been finished for quite some time, but I've been reluctant to upload it because I would've preferred my first live YouTube cover to be one in which I don't spend half the time looking horribly evil. However, since I'm not the only person who worked on this and several people have asked me to go ahead and make it public, I finally decided to get over myself and do it. (And three guesses as to which is my real hair...XD)
And now, a very-abridged-to-avoid-boring-detail explanation...
This whole "Confrontation" thing started last year when I got upset about several people not believing I could do anything other than "cute" roles --the exact words were that my trying to be dramatic would be like "watching a Muppet trying to play Lady Macbeth"-- so as an act of protest I learned this song (which ties with "In His Eyes" as my favorite J&H; piece). I ended up doing it over in the spring with a more original interpretation (and after having to learn an entirely new method of physical characterization) and since I promised a lot of people I'd record a live cover... voila.
And now, Justin, that most epic of individuals who helped me sort out the horrendous technical nightmare that this thing presented! (Without going into excruciating detail, it was... well, excruciating.) We spent weeks working out the logistics of building a workable recording setup in a very small area, and ended up with two laptops, four highly-sensitive microphones, an additional lapel microphone pinned to my collar, and a spotlight effect that shot the surrounding air temperature up about thirty degrees. Afterwards it took us an insanely long time to create a usable instrumental and to sync the thing up, and although there are still some sound issues, we think it came out decently. Justin, I can't thank you enough--this would have been completely impossible without you.
