Termal is a town and district of Yalova Province in the Marmara region of Turkey. It is renowned with its hot springs. Yalova Thermal (Turkish: Termal) Baths are located in Yalova, Turkey about 80 direct KM away from Istanbul. The huge complex, lying on a land of about 1,6 mill. square metres, is located 12 km. away from Yalova. There are 4 hotels, one of which is an apart, in the complex. There are 5 baths in the complex which also possess historical value.
So yeah basically i go here have alook around and enjoy a bath which actually screws my legs over from the 3000 miles it took to get here :-)

Turkish Education Minister Nabi Avcı has demanded an investigation into the death of a teacher who died of a heart attack in western Yalova province soon after the governor reprimanded him for his physical appearance at the school, while teachers did not attend their first classes in memory of their colleague.
Halil Serkan Öz, an award-winning mathematics teacher at Termal Science High School in Yalova, was harshly criticized by Governor Selim Cebiroğlu in front of his students on March 27, the Anadolu Agency reported.
“What’s this hair, this beard? What kind of teacher are you? People who see you in the street would think that you are a beggar,” Cebiroğlu was quoted by Turkish media as saying to Öz.
Teachers from the Education and Science Workers’ Union (Eğitim-Sen) did not attend the first class of the day on April 6, in protest of the governor.
Avcı called Öz’s family on the phone and conveyed his condolences. The minister also demanded a detailed investigation into the incident.
Öz, who attended a demonstration on April 3 against the governor’s “insult” on him, suddenly collapsed due to a heart attack while marching on Gazipaşa Avenue, Doğan News Agency reported. He died in the ambulance while being transferred to a hospital in neighboring Bursa province, according to the report.
Öz, who recently went through a divorce and was reportedly depressed by the governor’s reaction, was once given an award by the Scientific and Technical Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK).
Cebiroğlu, on the other hand, released a message of condolence on April 4. “As Yalova, we feel deep sadness over the death of Science High School teacher Halil Serkan Öz, who was an invaluable member of our education community,” he said.
“The governor can be at ease now, as my son has died,” the late teacher’s father, Kemal Öz, said April 4, according to Cihan News Agency.

Since the spatial data is the core issue of spatial planning, to build spatial data infrastructure (SDI) provides the effectiveness in the process of spatial planning in Turkey. Such a population increasing country like Turkey meets increasing demands of housing and services which triggers more construction and planning facilities. Turkey needs to clarify spatial planning processes with a view to upgrade spatial quality.
To create national spatial data infrastructure (NSDI) will provide a reliable spatial data archive as well as an opportunity to update and exchange the spatial data at the country-wide by using common relevant technical standards of data. The frequently encountered problems are in the implementation process of spatial plans. Many local authorities have remarkable deficiencies to prepare local scale plans complied with the macro scale plans approved by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization. Similarly, numerous conflicts and gaps in land-use decisions which were produced by different central and local planning authorities on spatial plans have been experienced. This paper will explain the facilitating role of NSDI in the implementation of land-use decisions efficiently by using relevant data content and data exchange standards in Turkey.
To clarify the relationships between the aforementioned standards and effective implementation of land-use decisions of spatial plans, the Province of Yalova will be studied as a case study. The Yalova province, one of the 81 provinces in Turkey, is located in the south-eastern coast of the Marmara Sea. Yalova which has various land-use areas and high earthquake risks will provide numerous opportunities to explain problematic areas in the implementation of land-use decisions as well as to denote the facilitating role of SDI .

A teacher has died of a heart attack in western Turkey during a protest against a governor who had reprimanded him for his physical appearance at the school.

Teacher Öz, who attended the demonstration, suddenly collapsed while marching in Gazipaşa Avenue, Doğan News Agency reported, suffering a heart attack. He died in the ambulance while being transferred to a hospital in the neighboring Bursa province, according to the report.
Öz, who was recently divorced from his wife and was reportedly depressed over the governor's reaction, was once awarded by the Scientific and Technical Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK).
'Fatally breaking his heart'
Governor Cebiroğlu's words has been widely criticized in Turkey since last week.
Most recently, Cem Yılmaz, arguably Turkey's most popular comedian, delved into the issue, although he has been known for avoiding political themes for years.
"Crushing a man by using the powers of an official position, fatally breaking his heart... What a pity that the poor teacher died. Let you rise to even more important positions, Mr. Governor!" Yılmaz said in a tweet on April 4.

Two young men got into a fierce fight with huge doner kebab shop knives, and the moments of the incident were recorded by security cameras. The fight took place in western Yalova province after a verbal argument between the two youngsters, Ü.B. and V.T
V.T. was injured during the fight when he tried to get the knife out of the attackers hand. Police detained Ü.B. shortly after the fight took place.

A military training aircraft has made an emergency landing in the northwestern province of Yalova, the Turkish General Staff said Tuesday.
"A T-41 plane departed from Yalova Air Space Command located in Ciftlikkoy district and made the landing due to reason not known yet," said the General Staff in a statement.
The statement added that the two pilots had not been injured.
On March 5, two pilots were killed when an F-4E 2020 training aircraft crashed at a shooting range in the central province of Konya.
The Turkish Air Force announced that it would stop using RF-4E warplanes.

Cyclists have pedaled from the northeastern province of Kars to northwestern Yalova as part of a project organized by the Search and Rescue Association (AKUT) to commemorate the 16th anniversary of the 1999 İzmit earthquake. AKUT welcomed five cyclists who pedaled 1,500 kilometers to raise awareness at the entrance to Kocaeli province, which neighbors Yalova, for the project, “Along the fault line 1,500 km by bicycle.” The project’s team leader, Hakan Korkut, told reporters they had held seminars and distributed flyers along their route. Derya Keçeci, a 53-year-old teacher who was one of the cyclists in the group, called on society to become more aware of earthquakes. Another of the cyclists, Mehmet Murat, underlined the importance of being prepared for earthquakes. “We must remember that earthquakes are a part of our lives and we must be cautious and prepared,” he said.

Turkey: Military training plane makes emergency landing
A military training aircraft has made an emergency landing in the northwestern province of Yalova, the Turkish General Staff said Tuesday. "A T-41 plane departed from Yalova Air Space Command located in Ciftlikkoy district and made the landing due to reason not known yet," said the General Staff in a statement. A Turkish actor, who was claimed to be suffering from a psychological disorder, has killed his father in the Kahta district of the southeastern province of Adıyaman. He died in the ambulance while being transferred to a hospital in neighboring Bursa province, according to the report.
Öz, who recently went through a divorce and was reportedly depressed by the governor’s reaction, was once given an award by the Scientific and Technical Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK).
Cebiroğlu, on the other hand, released a message of condolence on April 4. “As Yalova, we feel deep sadness over the death of Science High School teacher Halil Serkan Öz, who was an invaluable member of our education community,” he said.

The frequently encountered problems are in the implementation process of spatial plans. Many local authorities have remarkable deficiencies to prepare local scale plans complied with the macro scale plans approved by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization. Similarly, numerous conflicts and gaps in land-use decisions which were produced by different central and local planning authorities on spatial plans have been experienced. This paper will explain the facilitating role of NSDI in the implementation of land-use decisions efficiently by using relevant data content and data exchange standards in Turkey.
To clarify the relationships between the aforementioned standards and effective implementation of land-use decisions of spatial plans, the Province of Yalova will be studied as a case study. The Yalova province, one of the 81 provinces in Turkey, is located in the south-eastern coast of the Marmara Sea. Yalova which has various land-use areas and high earthquake risks will provide numerous opportunities to explain problematic areas in the implementation of land-use decisions as well as to denote the facilitating role of SDI .

Halil Serkan Öz, an award-winning mathematics teacher at Termal Science High School in the Yalova province, was harshly criticized by Governor Selim Cebiroğlu in front of his students on March 27.
"What's this hair, this beard? What kind of teacher are you? People who see you in the street would think that you are a beggar," Cebiroğlu was quoted by Turkish media as saying to Öz.
The teachers' union in Yalova organized a march in support of Öz on April 3, condemning the governor's "insult" and called for an end to "the official policy of creating uniform teachers."
Teacher Öz, who attended the demonstration, suddenly collapsed while marching in Gazipaşa Avenue, Doğan News Agency reported, suffering a heart attack. He died in the ambulance while being transferred to a hospital in the neighboring Bursa province, according to the report.
Öz, who was recently divorced from his wife and was reportedly depressed over the governor's reaction, was once awarded by the Scientific and Technical Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK).
'Fatally breaking his heart'
Governor Cebiroğlu's words has been widely criticized in Turkey since last week.
Most recently, Cem Yılmaz, arguably Turkey's most popular comedian, delved into the issue, although he has been known for avoiding political themes for years.
"Crushing a man by using the powers of an official position, fatally breaking his heart... What a pity that the poor teacher died. Let you rise to even more important positions, Mr. Governor!" Yılmaz said in a tweet on April 4.
Cebiroğlu, on the other hand, released a message of condolences on April 4. "As Yalova, we feel deep sadness over the death of Science High School teacher Halil Serkan Öz, who was an invaluable member of our education community," he said.
"The governor can be at ease now as my son has died," the late teacher's father Kemal Öz said on April 4, according to Cihan news agency.

AKUT welcomed five cyclists who pedaled 1,500 kilometers to raise awareness at the entrance to Kocaeli province, which neighbors Yalova, for the project, “Along the fault line 1,500 km by bicycle.”
The project’s team leader, Hakan Korkut, told reporters they had held seminars and distributed flyers along their route.
Derya Keçeci, a 53-year-old teacher who was one of the cyclists in the group, called on society to become more aware of earthquakes.
Another of the cyclists, Mehmet Murat, underlined the importance of being prepared for earthquakes.
“We must remember that earthquakes are a part of our lives and we must be cautious and prepared,” he said.

A businessman in the construction industry, whose faulty building claimed 20 lives in the deadly earthquake in Turkey’s western province of Yalova in 1999, has been appointed as the head of a nursing home in Istanbul’s Okmeydanı neighborhood, in a historical building that was recently opened to renovation.
The Darülaceze, a place where the state has taken care of elderly people and orphaned children free of charge for over 100 years since the reign of Ottoman Sultan Abdülhamid II, has appointed Hamza Cebeci to head the institution, which is run under the Family and Social Policies Ministry.
Cebeci had been sentenced to 10 months in jail after the Yalova apartment named “Işık” (Light) that he had built was responsible for the death of 20 residents. The legally permitted level of the seven-storey building was only three storeys, and it collapsed during the huge earthquake of Nov. 12, 1999.
Cebeci had defended himself in court by saying that he was a contractor working on an apartment-for-land basis, and if he had constructed the building at only three floors then he would not have earned any money.
Aylin Çiftçi, who has been the head of the Darülaceze nursing home for the past two years and is herself a physician, was removed from duty reportedly after objecting to the opening of the 27,000-square-meter premises to construction.
The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality had changed the construction plan for land owned by Darülaceze, which is currently being used as a parking lot. The area, which previously only had health purposes, was also assigned a touristic function and construction up to 15 floors was also granted at the municipal council in June.
However, the 2nd Council on the Preservation of the Cultural Heritage objected to this zoning change on the grounds that it would affect the Darülaceze building and was against a cultural heritage preservation law.
Çiftçi was removed as the head of Darülaceze shortly after this ruling was issued.

Canakkale Turkey : What to see and eat in Canakkale, Turkey
http://davidsbeenhere.com In this episode, David takes us around Turkey’s Marmara region to show us what to see and eat in Canakkale, Turkey - a beautiful city along the Dardanelles Strait. Canakkale is home to several historic monuments, beautiful streets and a plethora of amazing restaurants. It is also just a short ferry ride away from the ruins of ancient Troy! The best part is that Canakkale is only a 6.5 hour drive from Istanbul, making it a great stop-over destination for those traveling around the Marmara Region.
Canakkale's charm lies in its location. Strolling along the waterfront promenade reveals beautiful views and a much-appreciated sea breeze. David makes a quick stop at the Kale Fortress, which is open to the public and features rows upon rows of antique canons and other military memorabilia. Near the Castle is an enormous reproduction of the Trojan Horse. It was used as a prop in the 2004 movie “Troy" featuring Brad Pitt. After filming, it was donated to the city of Canakkale and has been on public display ever since.
Now for the food...After an eventful first day exploring Canakkale, David goes to a popular seafood restaurant in town, Yalova Situated in the old fish market, Restaurant Yalova serves up fresh local seafood with a beautiful view of the Dardenelles Strait. Make sure you reserve a table on the rooftop to enjoy the water views with your meal.
The next day, David stops by Kavala for a casual seafood meal in this taverna-style restaurant. Kavala is located right along the main pedestrian boulevard near the ferry station. Like many local eateries, Kavala serves fresh local seafood along with traditional Turkish dishes. Another popular restaurant in town is Hangover Cafe Bar, which is always packed! Hangover serves up casual food and has a great ambiance, especially for 20 and 30-somethings. It features both indoor and outdoor dining. The terrace is especially charming if you plan to enjoy Canakkale’s balmy nights.
