The activities of Ayia Napa Medieval Festival are inspired from the Medieval period, representing the everyday life and events of those times, including: - street theatre, - theatrical play with the Medieval Monastery as natural setting, - music concerts and dance shows, performed by groups from European countries such as Greece, Russia, Italy , Ukraine ,Romania, Slovakia, Germany, Holland, France and Cyprus. - Participation of schools and teams with Medieval costumes in the event “The streets of Crusaders” - Medieval market setting with products for sale such as wine (in wooden barrels), medieval food and other - Medieval workshops such as pottery making, basketry etc. - Exhibitions of Medieval Objects Programme Saturday 11/10/2014 19.00 Parade at Makarios avenue. Departure: at the roundabout arrival at Limanaki (harbor) of Ayia Napa...Once upon a time… And that's how our fairytale begins! Every year in October, we travel back in time… whispering the very first words of a fairytale , wandering somewhere in the Medieval times! After the parade, along Makarios avenue, at the roundabout to the Limanaki( harbor) of Ayia Napa, reality becomes part of history and mythology. Cavaliers-Crusaders, knights and princesses, are the roles played by the children of the primary school of Ayia Napa .and the band of percussion instruments of BATUKINIO, stilt artists from the Dutch street theatre PAVANA, the German group HEYDEKRAUT , the UKRANIAN SPIRITUAL SEASONS GROUP, the Ukranian ALENTRADA HISTORICAL DANCE THEATRE, the Italian group AlMORAIMA, THE THEATRICAL WORKSHOP OF THE UNIVERSITY OF CYPRUS, the Greek-Italian band of medieval music ENCARDIA with the participation of the great diva from the south of Italy ANNA CINCIA VILLANI, the MEDIEVAL DRAGONS band with the acrobats and the fire, a dancing group PERFORMER'S ACADEMY OF DANCE, archers from the group of ''ACHAEAN ARCHERS '' the ANCIENT RADIO CITIZENS, dancers expressing the medieval passion, the FLORISTS & HAIRDRESSERS OF THE DISTRICT OF FAMAGUSTA… knights and princesses using their magic stick to make the fairytale begin. The Greek music, since the byzantine chant has evolved through tradition and this music inspired composers such as Theodorakis, Kougioumtzis and Xsarxakos. He will perform with the accompaniment of an Orchestra composed of 7 people.
