Plot: Set in post-nuclear-holocaust England, where a handful of bizarre characters struggle on with their lives in the ruins, amongst endless heaps of ash, piles of broken crockery and brick, muddy plains, and heaps of dentures and old boots. Patriotically singing "God Save Mrs. Etheyl Shroake, Long Live Mrs. Etheyl Shroake", they wander through this surrealistic landscape, forever being warned by the police to "keep moving", and prone to the occasional mutation into a parrot, cupboard, or even, yes, a bed sitting room with "No Wogs" scrawled in the grime on it's windows. In particular, this story revolves around the odd "love story" of a girl who lives with her parents in one compartment of a London Underground train, the commuter in the next compartment, and the doctor they meet after returning above ground in search of a nurse for the heavily pregnant girl.

Taglines: WE'VE GOT A BOMB ON OUR HANDS ( *BOMB - a motion picture so brilliantly funny it goes over most people's heads.) "The Great Nuclear Misunderstanding Lasted 2 Minutes And 28 Seconds (including the peace treaty)"
Quotes:
Sergeant: [at various points in film, shouting out of police car] Keep moving!
Mate: And in come the three bears. The Daddy Bear said, "Who's been sleeping in my porridge?" - and the mummy bear said, "that's no porridge, that was my wife!"
Penelope: British? What a lot of use that is - we don't even know who's won the war!
Inspector: [part of long, mock Churchillian speech]... the lion shall lie down with the lamb, the goat shall give suck to the tiny bee...
Mother: [On being shown her own death certificate by the nurse] Well, you can't argue with it. I thought I was alive, but there it is in black and white... Do I lie down or something?
Mother: Get your hands out of my drawers!
Nigel: I hear the Pope's allowing contraceptives for all occasions, except during sexual intercourse.
Father: I always knew my inside leg would lead to power.
Bules Martin: My advice, charge twenty quid rent, be mindful of drafts...
Sergeant: Remember you're the electricity man for the whole nation.

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has defended his government's actions in the region since the uprising against his rule, which erupted in 2011.
In an exclusive interview with the BBC's Middle East Editor Jeremy Bowen, Mr Assad denied that his forces had dropped barrel bombs indiscriminately on rebel-held areas, killing thousands of civilians, and dismissed as propaganda a statement by the UN that his government often blocks access to besieged areas for relief organisations.
The Syrian leader also denied that there was a direct dialogue with the US-led coalition fighting Islamic State but confirmed that "general messages" were sometimes passed via third parties.

(c) BBC 2014 (MMXIV)
On the 10th of September 2014, another stunning collaboration with the BBC Philharmonic was performed and recorded live at BBC North. Clean Bandit's (Jack Patterson, Luke Patterson, Grace Chatto, Milan Neil Amin-Smith) portfolio has been described as "fusion" music, mixing electronic music with classical and deep-house elements. This made their partnership with the BBC Philharmonic a defining and natural choice.
Featuring special guest performances from Rae Morris, Nikki Cislyn, Eliza Shaddad, Love Ssega and Jess Glynne. Orchestrated by Joe Duddell. Conducted by Richard Davis. Hosted by Zane Lowe (Zane Lowe Show) and BBC Radio 1.

No-nonsense columnist Rod Liddle clashed furiously with Labour-backing historian Simon Schama on the BBC's Question Time last nightAn audience cheered and booed as two TV personalities staged a dramatic showdown over Britain's 'emotional' response to the refugee crisis.
No-nonsense columnist Rod Liddle clashed furiously with Labour-backing historian Simon Schama on the BBC's Question Time last night...
The argument blew up when Spectator columnist Mr Liddle, who said Bake Off winner Nadiya Hussain's success 'does not mean our immigration policy has been successful', said emotions should be left out of the refugee debate.
"We've heard this sort of stuff. The emotional stuff," he blasted. This whipping up - 'they are human beings'. Of course they're human beings. But what we must not do is do the wrong thing for the right reasons.
"And that would mean opening our doors and saying more should come because more and more will die."
Mr Liddle made his comments six weeks after toddler Aylan Kurdi single-handedly turned British opinion on refugees when he washed up dead on a Turkish beach.Photos of the little boy were beamed around the world and helped push the government into accepting 4,000 Syrian refugees a year.
Audience members cheered and whooped as Mr Schama hit back at his nemesis.
He fumed: "There's nothing to be ashamed of about having an emotional response to the suffering of 4 million Syrian refugees. We can disagree. But do not presume to lecture me about the inadequacy of an emotional response to mass human suffering.
"GO back to your journalistic hackery and talk about outcomes and turn your suburban face away from the plight of the miserable."
But Mr Liddle was unapologetic - and his response made the audience in Kent's port town of Dover gasp.
"I'm not suburban," he huffed. "I just come from a different class to you."

A Tory voter in the audience of the BBC's Question Time has launched an impassioned attack on Conservative minister Amber Rudd over tax credits. But the woman's comments went un-answered as the panel moved on to talk about the "reported chaos in Labour's policy-making". Under the government's plans, the earnings level above which tax credits are withdrawn will be lowered from £6,420 to £3,850, and the rate at which the benefit is lost as pay rises will be sped up. Ministers argue the impact of the cuts will be mitigated by the new National Living Wage and higher tax thresholds. Labour says three million families face losing an average of £1,000 a year.

Earlier this evening I watched the first episode of a new BBC series, Earth's Wildest Waters: The Big Fish.
There will be six episodes in the series, in which eight anglers compete to win the ultimate prize, whatever that is. They travel to a different country each week, the next episode will be in Cuba, where BBC executives will surely feel very much at home.
In my younger days I was a keen angler - coarse fishing, fly fishing, and a little sea fishing. At least 99% of anglers - then as now, from what I can see - were men or boys. Statistically, no more than 1% of the eight anglers in the programme - i.e. not one of them - should have been women. It will hopefully not come as a great shock to you, to learn that two of the eight anglers - 25% - were women. A 25-fold preferencing for women right from the outset of the 'competition'.
The local angling expert in the first episode, in Iceland, was - hold onto your hats, folks! - a woman. I wondered how the programme's producers would preference the females by making the scoring subjective - in common with GCSEs v O Levels, since 1987 - and didn't have to wait long for the answer. At 1:05 Ben Fogle informs us:
'Because there is a lot of luck involved in fishing, we're going to be taking into account location, technique, types of bait used.'
I've never heard of such a subjective 'system' being used in any angling competition, anywhere in the world... er... ever. Other that, I have no rational objections to it. If I did, that would obviously be both sexist and misogynistic.
Some comedy gold - rare on the BBC for several decades, as we might infer from regular repeats of Dad's Army and The Two Ronnies - happens between 1:58 - 3:19. One of the women's rods curves suddenly, and she utters the immortal lines (to any experienced fisherman, anyway):
'I think I have a fish on the line... It's not moving how you'd expect a fish to move.'
She courageously battles with the denizen of the deep for 45 minutes before singing plaintively, 'I don't know what to do...'. Dan comes to her assistance, at the cost of his own fishing time, and therefore prospects of progressing in the competition. She says to Dan:
'Will you give me a hand? Will you have a go at this, and see whether you think it's a fish, or the bottom?'
Dan says cheerily, 'Of course I will!', and takes only seconds before informing the daft trout she's caught the bottom of the lake. She laughs.
The final section, in which one of the eight anglers is sent home - something which will happen every week - starts at 3:32. Three anglers are selected as the group from which one will be sent packing. One is a women, two are men. You'll never guess whether it's the woman, or one of the men, who is selected.
I couldn't claim to have been a very proficient angler, but I was struck on numerous occasions in this programme at the lack of competence of some of the male anglers. The fly casting techniques of most of them, for example, were woeful. I'd wager any of the six could have been replaced by tens of thousands of more competent male British anglers, proficient in many forms of angling. The conclusion is inescapable. The producers actively selected poor male anglers, so as to make the female anglers look competent, in comparison.
It's a sad day when BBC feminist propaganda extends even to overwhelmingly male-dominated spheres such as angling. Is there nothing these vile harpies won't poison with their toxic ideology?
What will be the conclusion of the programme? That a woman is the best angler in the UK, or in the top two or three. The reality? Without manipulation, a woman wouldn't be in the top 100, maybe the top 1,000.
wn.com/11 October 2015 The BBC Creates A Fishing Competition, A Feminist Propaganda Piece

Kids Company collapsed this year after the government accept £ 3m

The former head of Camila Batmanghelidjh was brought before MPs this morning
She admitted that it was not a "myth" that the money was given to vulnerable children
Trustee Alan Yentob said the collapse of charity deputies wave of violence unleashed
He said that after the collapse of a charity boy had been killed
MP Bernard Jenkin said the committee had said that "these incidents occurred because children no longer had money to pay drug dealers'
The collapse of the charity Kids Company unleashed a wave of stabbings, suicide attempts and even murder because vulnerable young people no longer had access to cash to pay for their drug traffickers, MPs heard today.
The former head of Kids Company Camila Batmanghelidjh admitted this morning charity used to deliver up to £ 200 a week in cash for vulnerable children.
BBC executive Alan Yentob - who was president of the trustees of the charity - defended cash payments and insisted that the children of the company had done a "remarkable job" in protecting vulnerable young people from the inner cities.
Speaking to parliamentarians in the Public Accounts Committee, Mr. Yentob added: 'Five days after Kids Company closed a child was killed. It was to crime prevention centers that were closed. There were stabbings, there were four suicide attempts. "
But committee chair Bernard Jenkin revealed that the deputies had said that "these incidents occurred because children no longer had money to pay for drug dealers."
Mr. Yentob said Conservative MP's statement was a "terrible indictment '.
Miss Batmanghelidjh, who has been criticized for overseeing the collapse of the organization despite receiving millions of pounds in government funding, insisted that the money was not given out 'willy-nilly'.
Miss Batmanghelidjh also admitted that the charity had helped an individual to pay your mortgage, but told MPs should 'would like to discuss separately'.
The head of the controversial charity admitted it was not a "myth" that the money was given to vulnerable children in envelopes through windows with no control over how it is spent.
Asked if the children were given hundreds of pounds a week, Miss Batmanghelidjh initially said "no" before admitting "some did" before clarifying that this was "very rare".
She said children could receive anything between £ 10 and £ 200 a week of charity, dependent on public funding.
In general, children Company received £ 37million in public funding during its 19-year history.
Miss Batmanghelidjh, who was grilled by MPs with the BBC creative director Alan Yentob said any spending above £ 5,000 per week should be signed by the council.
Despite the eye-watering levels of spending, Ms. Batmanghelidjh confirmed Ofsted charity never fully investigated.
Ms. Batmanghelidjh said "intervention payments of poverty 'to cover food vouchers, bus passes and emergency grants were made.
But she said. "It's become the idea that was presented in any way was it was not considered.."
She said that payments of more than £ 100 a week were 'very rare' and would only be done if someone had a family to support.
Ms. Batmanghelidjh insisted that the distribution of payments to customers was properly supervised.
'Everything would go in an envelope for each child with a reception at the top. Then he was taken to the centers street level, "he said.
'When you reach the end of the week in the middle of the street team in the reception area would oversee the delivery of the envelope for the customer had to sign.
Kids Company, which provided support to vulnerable young people, collapsed in August - just days after receiving a grant of £ 3 million from the government and in the middle of a police investigation.
The closure came after the ministers said they wanted to recover the grant of £ 3 million - with officials saying they believed conditions associated with the use of money was not met.
It has emerged from the Home Office and the Charity Commission were warned 13 years ago about the mismanagement and misuse of charity funds.
Trustees of the charity were also said nine years ago that their "weak finances" and "overconfidence" the founder Camila Batmanghelidjh could push him under.
Reports about how they conducted the now defunct organization came from two other charities, including the description of their survival as a "triumph against all odds.
They painted a picture of a chaotic agency could not build cash reserves and was surprisingly careless about their accounts.
