When your starter is bad and "roll starting" isn't an option... here's a different (and potentially dangerous) way to start a tractor using the PTO (Power Take-off), a ratcheting tie-down, a car, and a lovely and skilled assistant.
Key Points:
1) Ensure the tractor's transmission is in neutral
2) Ensure the throttle is set to idle and the fuel cut-off properly set
3) Use the highest PTO speed you have (yes, in the video I said to use 540 because it had more torque, but that was not correct - in fact if you have 1000 available you should use that, as it will apply more torque to the tractor's engine for starting, much in the same way using 2nd gear in a car works better for roll starting)
4) Do NOT tie or attach the strap to the PTO shaft - it should fall away when the end is reached
5) The clutch operator should press the clutch in before the pull vehicle moves and SLOWLY release it throughout the pull so none of the components are "shock loaded". For this reason, it's probably best to do this on dirt/gravel using a lightweight pull vehicle (like a small car or 4-wheeler).
6) The pull vehicle driver should continue pulling until the strap is well clear of the PTO implement
FINAL DISCLAIMER: Seriously, there are a LOT of hazards here - if you don't feel totally confident around dangerous machines, don't try this - you can easily maim or kill yourself. Carefully weigh whether you should just take the time to get a new starter instead of trying this.

This video discusses how the mechanism that secures the implement PTO shaft to the tractor stub shaft works, and what to be looking for if it won't go on. However this will cover other tractors with electric PTO those from that same era such as craftsman, Murray, MTD, cup cadet, husky Toro, Troy Bilt and even John Deere. Basically what I show is what you should be looking for as far as voltage going to your PTO switch and then if the voltage is ultimately making it all the way down to your PTO clutch. When your starter is bad and "roll starting" isn't an option... here's a different (and potentially dangerous) way to start a tractor using the PTO (Power Take-off), a ratcheting tie-down, a car, and a lovely and skilled assistant.
Key Points:
1) Ensure the tractor's transmission is in neutral
2) Ensure the throttle is set to idle and the fuel cut-off properly set
3) Use the highest PTO speed you have (yes, in the video I said to use 540 because it had more torque, but that was not correct - in fact if you have 1000 available you should use that, as it will apply more torque to the tractor's engine for starting, much in the same way using 2nd gear in a car works better for roll starting)
4) Do NOT tie or attach the strap to the PTO shaft - it should fall away when the end is reached
5) The clutch operator should press the clutch in before the pull vehicle moves and SLOWLY release it throughout the pull so none of the components are "shock loaded". For this reason, it's probably best to do this on dirt/gravel using a lightweight pull vehicle (like a small car or 4-wheeler).
6) The pull vehicle driver should continue pulling until the strap is well clear of the PTO implement
FINAL DISCLAIMER: Seriously, there are a LOT of hazards here - if you don't feel totally confident around dangerous machines, don't try this - you can easily maim or kill yourself. Carefully weigh whether you should just take the time to get a new starter instead of trying this.

Let's back up a moment and talk about what this game is. It's a strategy simulation of the Pacific Theater of World War 2. In this playthrough, we'll be commanding the Japanese. And I do mean "we." For each game month, I will randomly select someone to act as chief of staff. You will have an opportunity to give me orders, which I will then carry out as best as I can. You do not need to know how to play the game at all to give me orders; you can be highly general or non-specific, and it will be up to me to interpret your ramblings and make them into something semi-useful.
This video serves as a sort of introduction to the game, and carries us through the most time-consuming turns of the game. Future uploads should not be this long.

Rotary Cutter Drive Shaft and PTO
In another instance of using the bush hog to clear saplings, the drive shaft was pulled from the PTO.
This took about an hour to fix. Why? Because it was necessary for me to learn a lesson the hard way.
Watching the video about Attaching a PTO Drive Shaft to a Tractor will make this easier to understand, but here are some pictures as well:
You see, the collar on the Drive Shaft uses ball bearings to secure the shaft to the PTO. In order to connect the shaft to the PTO 2 things needs to happen: 1) The groves on the shaft and the PTO need to line up. If they do not, you should be able to spin the PTO by hand to align them. 2) The bearings need to be retracted so you can slip the drive shaft on to the PTO, where you release the bearings and they secure into place into a grove on the PTO.
Step 2 was my hold up.
There is piece that looked to me as being the obvious part to move. It did move, and it moved with a little resistance, so if felt like you were compressing a spring, which would release the tension placed on the ball bearings. It did not.
I feel it worth mentioning now that this is the piece that makes sense to move. As you are pushing the drive shaft on to the PTO it would be much easier to push this part of the collar forward rather than move anything else. More later...
I called the dealership. They said that because of how the collar was forced off of the PTO, it was possible that the bearings were jammed and just needed something like WD-40 and a little forcing to get them back in to place.
Begin: 30 minutes of trying to hold the collar forward and pushing the ball bearings back in to place. They never budged. Not one of them, not a bit.
Then: Inspiration! Springs have two sides! And perhaps the 2nd side is not solid, but movable as well!
So, instead of pushing forward on what appears to be the lose collar, pull back on what appears to the the solid immovable metal and - Viola! - the bearings release and move back into the collar so that the drive shaft can be inserted onto the PTO.
Problem solved - time to go back to work!

It's a pretty common problem with implements that are stored outside and it usually means there's a little rust in the system somewhere that needs to be dislodged. husky Toro, Troy Bilt and even John Deere. Basically what I show is what you should be looking for as far as voltage going to your PTO switch and then if the voltage is ultimately making it all the way down to your PTO clutch. Two British teenagers accused of battering an alcoholic woman to death in 2014 have been sentenced to life in prison. The two girls, now 15, were convicted of murdering 39-year-old Angela Wrightson on April 5 after an eight-week crown court trail in Leeds, England, the Guardian reported.
