Where is Waldo? Unitarian Manichaeism -- Savoyard Pope asks pardon from Waldensian Protestants for past persecution | dualist Catharism thrived in northern Italy and southern France, initially taught by ascetic priests. The Catholic Church denounced its practices and dismissed it as "the Church of Satan". Catharism had its roots in the Paulician movement in Armenia and eastern Byzantine Anatolia and the Bogomils of the First Bulgarian Empire,[5] who were influenced by the Paulicians resettled in Thrace (Philipopolis) by the Byzantines.

Regarding Fr.'s sermon, here is what one blogger wrote: "The video shows to me a priest who is consumed with love for the souls in his charge and for the traditional practice of the Faith. Debate: Is The Roman Catholic Priesthood Biblical & Ancient? (White vs Pacwa)
Is The Roman Catholic Priesthood Biblical and Ancient? (5/29/03)
James White and Fr. Mitchell Pacwa debate the validity of the Roman Priesthood. Does the New Testament describe an office of priest in the Church today? Does the New Testament teach that there is a Christian Prieshood? Are priests to be unmarried as Rome teaches? Is it true as the Council of Trent declared that a New Testament Priesthood was transformed from the Old? Is it correct to call someone "Father?" What is the priesthood of all believers as mentioned in the New Testament? What are the Biblical offices in the Church today? These questions and many more are answered in thi

The Cunning Genius of the Vatican Papal System
As the background of the structure of the Catholic Church is alarming, an exposure of its system is essential. Biblical and historical analysis of the Papal system is required so that its influence can be prevented. This we have done in this Video It is utterly important to remember that “those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.” As many Christian people, and indeed Evangelical churches, have been harmed because of their ignorance of the genius of Vatican procedures please make this video known to your family and friends, thank you.

Historians use the term "Medieval Inquisition" to describe the various inquisitions that started around 1184, including the Episcopal Inquisition (1184–1230s) and later the Papal Inquisition (1230s). These inquisitions responded to large popular movements throughout Europe considered apostate or heretical to Christianity, in particular the Cathars in southern France and the Waldensians in both southern France and northern Italy. Other Inquisitions followed after these first inquisition movements. Legal basis for some inquisitorial activity came from Pope Innocent IV's papal bull Ad extirpanda of 1252, which explicitly authorized (and defined the appropriate circumstances for) the use of torture by the Inquisition for eliciting confessions from heretics. By 1256 inquisitors were given absolution if they used instruments of torture.
In the 13th century, most inquisitors were friars who taught theology and/or law in the universities. They used inquisitorial procedures, a common legal practice adapted from the earlier Ancient Roman court procedures. They judged heresy along with bishops and groups of "assessors" (clergy serving in a role that was roughly analogous to a jury or legal advisers), using the local authorities to establish a tribunal and to prosecute heretics. After 1200, a Grand Inquisitor headed each Inquisition. Grand Inquisitions persisted until the mid 19th century.
"In 1252 Innocent IV licensed the use of torture to obtain evidence from suspects, and by 1256 inquisitors were allowed to absolve each other if they used instruments of torture themselves, rather than relying on lay agents for the purpose...".

UNAM SANCTAM Bull of Pope Boniface VIII promulgated November 18, 1302
http://savingcatholicism.com
Urged by faith, we are obliged to believe and to maintain that the Church is one, holy, catholic, and also apostolic. We believe in her firmly and we confess with simplicity that outside of her there is neither salvation nor the remission of sins, as the Spouse in the Canticles [Sgs 6:8] proclaims: 'One is my dove, my perfect one. She is the only one, the chosen of her who bore her,' and she represents one sole mystical body whose Head is Christ and the head of Christ is God [1 Cor 11:3]. In her then is one Lord, one faith, one baptism [Eph 4:5]. There had been at the time of the deluge only one ark of Noah, prefiguring the one Church, which ark, having been finished to a single cubit, had only one pilot and guide, i.e., Noah, and we read that, outside of this ark, all that subsisted on the earth was destroyed.
We venerate this Church as one, the Lord having said by the mouth of the prophet: 'Deliver, O God, my soul from the sword and my only one from the hand of the dog.' [Ps 21:20] He has prayed for his soul, that is for himself, heart and body; and this body, that is to say, the Church, He has called one because of the unity of the Spouse, of the faith, of the sacraments, and of the charity of the Church. This is the tunic of the Lord, the seamless tunic, which was not rent but which was cast by lot [Jn 19:23- 24]. Therefore, of the one and only Church there is one body and one head, not two heads like a monster; that is, Christ and the Vicar of Christ, Peter and the successor of Peter, since the Lord speaking to Peter Himself said: 'Feed my sheep' [Jn 21:17], meaning, my sheep in general, not these, nor those in particular, whence we understand that He entrusted all to him [Peter]. Therefore, if the Greeks or others should say that they are not confided to Peter and to his successors, they must confess not being the sheep of Christ, since Our Lord says in John 'there is one sheepfold and one shepherd.' We are informed by the texts of the gospels that in this Church and in its power are two swords; namely, the spiritual and the temporal. For when the Apostles say: 'Behold, here are two swords' [Lk 22:38] that is to say, in the Church, since the Apostles were speaking, the Lord did not reply that there were too many, but sufficient. Certainly the one who denies that the temporal sword is in the power of Peter has not listened well to the word of the Lord commanding: 'Put up thy sword into thy scabbard' [Mt 26:52]. Both, therefore, are in the power of the Church, that is to say, the spiritual and the material sword, but the former is to be administered for the Church but the latter by the Church; the former in the hands of the priest; the latter by the hands of kings and soldiers, but at the will and sufferance of the priest.
However, one sword ought to be subordinated to the other and temporal authority, subjected to spiritual power. For since the Apostle said: 'There is no power except from God and the things that are, are ordained of God' [Rom 13:1-2], but they would not be ordained if one sword were not subordinated to the other and if the inferior one, as it were, were not led upwards by the other.

Eddie Izzard Dress To Kill Full Show (1999)
Edward John "Eddie" Izzard[5] (/ˈɪzɑːd/; born February 7, 1962) is an English stand-up comedian, actor, and writer. His comedic style takes the form of rambling, whimsical monologue, and self-referential pantomime. He had a starring role in the television series The Riches as Wayne Malloy and has appeared in films such as Ocean's Twelve, Ocean's Thirteen, Mystery Men, Shadow of the Vampire, The Cat's Meow, Across the Universe, and Valkyrie. He has also worked as a voice actor in The Wild (2006), Igor (2008), The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian (2008), and Cars 2 (2011).
Izzard has cited his main comedy role model as Monty Python, and John Cleese once referred to him as the "Lost Python".[1] In 2009, he completed 43 marathons in 51 days for Sport Relief despite having no prior history of long-distance running.[6] He has won numerous awards including a Primetime Emmy Award for Individual Performance in a Variety or Music Program for his comedy special Dress to Kill, in 2000. Izzard's website won the Yahoo People's Choice Award[7] and earned the Webby Award.[8]
On 6 September 2012, Izzard presented the medals to the athletes who had won the 800m T54 race at the London 2012 Paralympic Games. In 2013, Eddie Izzard embarked on a world tour entitled Force Majeure, with dates that run through 2015.[9]
Dress to Kill is the title of a performance by Eddie Izzard, and is a continuation of the British comedian's surrealist, ideas-based comedy. The VHS was recorded during a performance in San Francisco, California, United States. However, the tour was a global one. During this tour Izzard also wrote the book Dress to Kill with David Quantick (photographs by Steve Double), which was published by Virgin Books in hardback in 1998 and in paperback in 2000.
Izzard's humour includes observations on the American concept of history, beginning with his throwaway line "I grew up in Europe, where the history comes from" and continuing through diversions about the belief that all Europeans live in castles ("we just long for a bungalow or something") and the attitude of Americans toward historical landmarks. Additionally, Izzard takes time to explain his background as an executive transvestite and how it affected his desire to join the military. This is explained through a proposal for the Army's "first battalion transvestite brigade...with fantastic makeup and a fantastic gun."
The centerpiece of the performance is a retelling of British history from Stonehenge through to the Reformation. This is done with Izzard adopting a very Italian accent (and miming riding on a Vespa) to signify the Pope talking to Henry VIII ("who is Sean Connery for this film") and explaining that he can't marry as many wives as he wants to. This is set against the backdrop of Martin Luther pinning his 95 Theses on the door of Wittenberg Cathedral, a paper that reads "Eine Minuten bitte. Ich habe einen kleinen Problemo avec diese Religione." "He was from everywhere," explains Izzard to great cheers from the audience. Similar to his use of Sean Connery as the voice of Henry VIII, he uses the voice of James Mason as the voice of God.
Izzard, a self-proclaimed film buff, also describes the plot of The Great Escape in somewhat manic fashion. He is particularly fond of Steve McQueen's role in the film, and goes to great lengths to explain how inaccurate his escape through Central Europe actually is ("within fifteen minutes he's on the borders of Switzerland. This is from Poland! And if you don't know the geography, it goes Poland, Czechoslovakia, Holland, Venezuela, Africa, Beirut, the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, and then Switzerland.").
Diversions are also made in relation to the Heimlich maneuver and the American Dream, while the performance ends with Izzard re-telling the story of how he didn't lose his virginity. An encore is then performed, featuring Izzard delivering the plot of the film Speed in French and explaining how his schoolboy French serves him in France itself.
One of Izzard's most well-known routines was performed during Dress To Kill: a satirical depiction of Church of England fundamentalism, wherein Izzard explains how Church of England fundamentalism would be impossible because people would be shouting out "You must have tea and cake with the vicar or you DIE!" and "CAKE OR DEATH?!" The latter phrase has become so well known that it is now the name of an Eddie Izzard fansite and has inspired a Christian website called Anglican Memes for those who "like gentle fun being poked at the church but are not interested in church-bashing or posting anything offensive."

22 June 2015 Pope Francis visits Turin, asks pardon from Waldensian Protestants for past persecution

STORY: Pope Francis asked forgiveness on Monday (June 22) for the Roman Catholic Church's past "non-Christian and inhumane" treatment of the Waldensians, a tiny Protestant movement the Vatican tried to exterminate in the 15th century.
"On the part of the Catholic Church, I ask for your forgiveness. I ask forgiveness for the un-Christian and even inhumane positions and actions taken against you during history. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, forgive us!" he said.
The pope made his request during the first ever visit by a pope to a Waldensian temple, on the second day of his visit to Turin. Italy's northern Piedmont region is considered the centre of the world by the 30,000-strong Waldensian Church.
While the movement is miniscule compared to the 1.2 billion member Roman Catholic Church, the gesture is part of Pope Francis' drive to promote Christian unity.
"The rediscovery of this brotherhood allows us to grasp the deep bond that already unites us, despite our differences. It is a communion that is still underway. Unity is built while moving forward," Pope Francis told the congregation.
"It is a communion that with prayer, with the continuous conversion at a personal and community-wide level and with the help of theologians, we hope, trusting the action of the Holy Spirit, can become a full and visible communion in truth and in charity," he continued.
The Waldensians, who now live mostly in Italy and Latin America, were founded by Peter Waldo in France in the late 12th century. He came into increasing theological conflict with the papacy.
The movement, an early precursor of the Protestant Reformation in the 16th century, was branded as heretical and in 1487 Pope Innocent VIII ordered its extermination.
Some 1,700 Waldensians were killed in 1655 by Catholic forces under the order of the Duke of Savoy.
Pope Francis asking pardon from the Waldensians was reminiscent of a gesture in 2000 by Pope John Paul, who, during a visit to Jerusalem, asked forgiveness from Jews for persecution by Catholics over the centuries.
The move has increased significance ahead of the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation, which will take place in 2017. The Reformation began when Martin Luther nailed his 95 Theses to a church door in Germany to denounce corruption in the Catholic Church.
Various Christian Churches have still not agreed on how they will jointly mark the divorce that split western Christianity and led to many bloody religious wars.
Francis, an Argentinian whose father and grandfather were born in the Turin area, wrapped up his two-day visit to teh region with a private lunch with his Italian relatives.

Last Public Mass of Fr. Michael Rodriguez in Shafter,TX
+J.M.J.+ This was the last public Traditional Latin Mass offered by Fr. Rodríguez at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Mission in Shafter, Texas, on Sunday, November 9th, 2014, Feast of the Dedication of the Archbasilica of Our Saviour, Saint John Lateran.
Regarding Fr.'s sermon, here is what one blogger wrote: "The video shows to me a priest who is consumed with love for the souls in his charge and for the traditional practice of the Faith. Several times Father breaks down during the sermon, not over his own trials, but over those souls who will experience their own intense suffering at being denied the loving care of such a priest, and the regular availability of the TLM and the whole traditional practice of the Faith."
Very appropriately, the last hymn sung for the Recessional was "Faith of Our Fathers."
Faith of our Fathers is an English Catholic hymn, written in 1849 by Frederick William Faber in memory of the Catholic martyrs from the time of the establishment of the Church of England by Henry VIII. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Faith_of_Our_Fathers_(hymn)
Lyrics:
1) Faith of our fathers, living still,
In spite of dungeon, fire and sword;
O how our hearts beat high with joy
Whene'er we hear that glorious word!
Refrain:
Faith of our fathers, holy faith!
We will be true to thee till death.
2) Our fathers chained in prisons dark,
were still in heart and conscience free,
and blessed would be their children's fate,
if they, like them, should die for Thee
Refrain
3) Faith of our fathers, Mary’s prayers,
Shall bring our country close to Thee;
And through the Truth that comes from God,
This land shall then indeed be free.
Refrain
4) Faith of our fathers, we will love,
Both friend and foe in all our strife;
And preach Thee, too, as love knows how,
By witness true, and virtuous life.
Refrain
Regarding Fr. Michael Rodríguez:
+JMJ+ Pax Christi,
As of November 10, 2014, Fr. Michael Rodríguez, is no longer the Administrator of Sacred Heart Mission in Shafter, TX. He has been given a six-month sabbatical in order to discern God’s Will for the future. Fr. Rodríguez remains a priest in good-standing of the Diocese of El Paso. He will most likely be looking at options for priestly ministry beyond the Diocese of El Paso. Fr. Rodríguez has been offering the Traditional Latin Mass exclusively for the past three years, and this has led to increasing difficulties for him with the local hierarchy. Fr. Rodríguez asks for your prayers, and he especially asks you to pray for the small group of faithful (about 50) of the Presidio-Shafter area who are heartbroken over the loss of the Traditional Latin Mass and parish life based on the Traditional Latin Mass.
Admittedly, Fr. Rodríguez is in a very difficult situation. On the one hand, he intends to do his best to be obedient to his bishop. On the other hand, Fr. Rodríguez is convinced that God is calling him - through the Church - to dedicate his priesthood and all his energy and strength to promote the Church’s greatest treasures: her timeless liturgy and doctrine. Both Popes John Paul II and Benedict XVI have acknowledged that the Church is suffering through a terrible crisis of Faith in the post-Vatican II era, and Fr. Rodríguez, as a loyal priest and son of the Church, cannot stand idly by in the face of such widespread disparagement and abandonment of the Catholic Faith.
In making any decisions for the future, Fr. Rodríguez is begging God to purify his motives, so that he may act, first and foremost, out of love and fidelity to Jesus Christ and His holy Church, and for the salvation of souls. As a loyal son of Holy Mother Church, Fr. Rodríguez is 100% committed to following, teaching, promoting, and defending her Traditional Mass (holy liturgy) and her unchangeable truths (holy doctrine), e.g. the sacredness of marriage, the indissolubility of marriage, the grave sin and intrinsic evil of homosexual acts.
In closing, Fr. Rodríguez asks that efforts be redoubled to pray for the Holy Father so that he will consecrate Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary as requested by Our Lady of Fatima. May the reign of Christ the King come through the triumph of the Immaculate Heart of His Mother!

4) Faith of our fathers, we will love,
Both friend and foe in all our strife;
And preach Thee, too, as love knows how,
By witness true, and virtuous life.

Thank you very much for your prayers and support. Ad Iesum per Mariam, dvr

These questions and many more are answered in this debate. A wide variety of issues are discussed. This subject also ties in with the subjects of the Mass, purgatory, confession, and the celibacy of priests in Roman Catholic theology. This debate is probably the best debate these two gentlemen have ever had. Highly recommended. (2 hours 44 minutes)

25. Henry VIII and the English Reformation
25. Henry VIII and the English Reformation
The Reformation came to England through the back door, as Henry VIII, determined to divorce his Spanish Queen, Catherine of Aragon, sought but failed to obtain the pope's permission to do so. His break from papal authority established an independent church in England, but the church remained fundamentally Catholic in its theology and liturgy, leading to heroic efforts by others to move England toward a posture more fully reflecting the Reformation. The success of those efforts, however, would have to wait for a later time.

Unprovable myths about Aleister Crowley being the reincarnation of Eliphas Levi, turning someone into a camel and other such nonsense. The Kabbalah/Cabbalah is briefly mentioned. Their belief in the 72 angels/demons is connected to the Key of Solomon/Lesser Key of Solomon which is seen by historians as a medieval hoax. The book is ridiculous in that the author attempts to shove their opinion down the reader's throat as if it were a fact without backing up these 'facts' with any references or an attempt at evidence. The episode ends on Krishna Venta who the author claims had no belly button. Upon looking for a photo I could not find a single photo online, but this was likely a lie perpetrated by the now extinct cult. All in all the book from 1967 had a lot of information that you could use to try to understand the mindset of the modern occultist, but the amount of biased information stated as a fact muddies the waters of information. This book can easily be found, anyone reading it I recommend they scrutinize the information, take it with a grain of salt and if they want to believe any of it to independently verify it from multiple sources before taking it seriously. All in all it does cover many occult subjects from Astrology to Numerology to Magic Words to the Secret Name of God to the origin of Satan (The book being biased however, the author tends to have a predisposition toward the devil and like most modern occultists either doesn't believe in God, or believes he can become God, which is a very occult/Kabbalah-type belief).

The historical interest of this work is almost as great as its inherent qualities. Vespers are part of the daily Offices, or Canonical Hours, of the church, music for the Offices including psalms (with antiphons), hymns, and canticles, as well as chanted lessons (with responsories). Although inspired by the Church Office, Monteverdi's Vespers in many ways transcends the original concept, perfectly exemplifying the transition between austere Renaissance polyphony and sheer Baroque splendor. Monteverdi makes his characteristic contribution to sacred music in a bold, almost operatic, style, complete with daring stereophonic and echo effects, and includes a suite of instrumental dances, concerti sections for both voices and orchestra, and a love song. To what extent this is liturgical music is debatable in view of the choice of texts, which some in Monteverdi's time considered blasphemous. Completed in 1610, the Vespers was written for the court of the Gonzaga family in Mantua, where Monteverdi was employed from 1590 to 1612, and dedicated to Pope Paul V. But the composition's true home is undoubtedly the cathedral of St. Mark in Venice, where Monteverdi was appointed maestro di cappella in 1613. Indeed, the Vespers could well have been conceived with its echoing spaces, galleries, balconies, organ, and choir lofts in mind.
The sections contain striking contrasts, but the unity and continuity of Monteverdi's grand design is maintained theatrically as well as musically. The overture, for choir and orchestra, is manifestly operatic, and close to that of Monteverdi's first opera, Orfeo - an upsurge of joyous energy, interposed by an orchestral toccata and ending with a jubilant Alleluia. The instrumentation (cornets, sackbuts, a variety of single and double reeds, recorders, strings, organ, and harpsichord) is, with the exception of the instrumental ritornelli, mainly intended to contribute to the formal structure of the choral sections, coloring the choir in the manner of organ stops, as in the "Dixit Dominus," "Laetatus sum," "Audi, coelum," and the beginning and end of the closing Magnificat, the climax of the whole work. The ways in which Monteverdi treats the cantus firmus by incorporating it into the counterpoint of the choral writing, as in "Dixit Dominus" (Psalm 109), is not found in earlier choral literature, nor is the flowing, unfettered parlando (recitation) style used in "Nigra sum," a metrically free poem with allusions to the biblical Song of Solomon. The concerto "Due Seraphim" is probably the most interesting section in the Vespers. It is set for two "answering" voices - a sort of singing competition for angels - and almost exceeds the limits of human vocal technique. The choral writing is also demanding in its splendor and complexity, much of it in six, seven, and, as in the psalm "Laudate pueri," eight parts; yet the simplicity of the two-part hymn Ave Maris stella is also among the many treasures of this magnificent work.
Back in 2010, Gardiner had already conducted the Vespro at Versailles' Chapelle Royale, winning broad acclaim; this is the reason why it was decided to film the 2014 concert. The title page of the first edition is inscribed "ad Sacella sive Principum Cubicula accomodata Opera" (for use in princely rooms and chapels). According to the conductor, Versailles Chapelle Royale is the perfect place to perform this masterpiece, because the spatial disposition makes the audience experience the feeling of Renaissance concerts: the architecture and the various levels enhance the echo and the dialogs between the singers, performing from different heights.
