Phone video of the Modiin railway on the way to Tel Aviv. I would've filmed the next train I took to Herzelia, but my phone was low on battery. Starting at Modiin's Central station, opened in 2008, the first underground station and the biggest in Israel (probably until Jerusalem's new underground train station is finished by 2017), the train goes to Paatei Modiin (Modiin Outskirts), Modiin's first train station that opened in 2007, located by one of Modiin's industrial/commercial areas, serving towns located on the outskirts. In the video, you can see the bridge to the new Jerusalem high speed line. Then the train continues to the Airport (opened in 2004) and then to the Ayalon Railway in Tel Aviv. The fleet of the line are Siemens Viaggio Light trains (Unique to the Modiin - Tel Aviv - Haifa - Nahariya service), with some Bombardier double deck trains. The line would most likely be the first line to be electrified after the electric Jerusalem line is finished and would use the EMUs provided for the Jerusalem line when the arc between the lines is built for Jerusalem to Modiin Trains. The trains from Jerusalem to Tel Aviv would go through the Airport as well. Paatei Modiin station would add new platforms for Jerusalem trains in the near future, but Modiin Merkaz was built with 4 platforms already in mind the the Jerusalem train would go through there. Now, it's going to go to Modiin as well as Tel Aviv, but the original plan was to build a northern Modiin station and have the line continue to Jerusalem, via Bet Horon and Giv'at Zeev, but that was scrapped due to problems with the area being on the other side of the green line border. There are still interests of building a north Modiin station though. There is also a link to Lod from the Airport for southern cities, but it isn't used anymore for some reason. There is also a Rishon Letzion - Modiin link under early construction that also links Jerusalem, so southern stations on the Bnei Darom line and Ashkelon - Be'er Sheva link can go directly to Modiin and Jerusalem, and have easy access to the Airport (Because the Bnei Darom line doesn't go through Lod).
