"Walk Right Now" is a 1981 song written, produced and performed by The Jacksons and issued as the fourth and final single from the group's popular album, Triumph. The song was written by Michael Jackson, Jackie Jackson and Randy Jackson and was a song in which a man was fed up with his lover's excuses about how they can resolve their relationship despite the woman's acts of infidelity towards him, therefore delivering the message, "walk right now/I'm not playing" in a chant-like phrase. When released, the song performed only modestly on US pop radio, peaking at a number seventy-three, but the song became a hit in the UK, where it peaked at number seven on the UK pop charts. The Jackson 5 (sometimes stylized as Jackson 5ive; later known as The Jacksons) are an American popular music family group from Gary, Indiana. Formed in 1964 under the name The Jackson Brothers, the founding members were Jackie, Tito, and Jermaine. Marlon and Michael would later join, and the band's name would be changed to The Jackson 5. After participating in talent shows and the chitlin' circuit, they entered the professional music scene in 1967 signing with One-derful! Records and recording several demos, before switching to Steeltown Records and releasing two singles. In 1969 they left Steeltown Records in order to sign with Motown. "Shake Your Body (Down to the Ground)" is a disco/funk song recorded by The Jacksons for their 1978 album Destiny, and released as a single on December 8, 1978. It peaked at no. 7 in the Billboard Hot 100 in May 1979. The most successful of the Jacksons' disco/funk-era recordings for Epic, "Shake Your Body" (originally demoed as "Shake a Body") was produced by the Jackson brothers, written by Randy and Michael, and featured Michael on lead vocals. The chorus "let's dance/let's shout (shout)/shake your body down to the ground" was inspired by an ad-lib from Marvin Gaye's "Got to Give It Up": "Let's dance/let's shout (shout)/gettin' funky's what it's all about" and the rhythmic pattern from Teddy Pendergrass's "Get Up, Get Down, Get Funky, Get Loose" (from his album Life Is a Song Worth Singing, released a couple of months previously). Released to radio in a single edit of three minutes and forty-five seconds (and played in its full eight-minute album version by clubs), the single reached no. 3 in Cash Box magazine and peaked at no. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It also peaked at no. 3 on the Billboard Hot Soul Singles chart. The ensuing 12" Disco Single Remix featured a more focused drum and rhythm track, as well as the new synthesizer-voiced three octave climbing glissando that was not heard on the album version. "Shake Your Body" sold over two million copies, attaining double-platinum status from the Recording Industry Association of America. The single was later sampled by reggae fusion artist Shaggy for his 2000 single "Dance & Shout". It was also sampled by rapper Rob Base and DJ E-Z Rock on their song "Get on the Dance Floor". The B-side on the 7" was "That's What You Get (For Being Polite)". The first performance of "Shake Your Body (Down to the Ground)" was on the second leg of The Jacksons' Destiny Tour in 1979. Later, it was performed on the Triumph Tour in 1981. In 1984 it was performed on the Victory Tour. In 1987, it was performed on the first leg of Jackson's Bad Tour. It was also performed during the Michael Jackson 30th Anniversary concerts at the Madison Square Garden in New York City in September 2001; it would be the last song performed live by the Jacksons before the death of Michael Jackson in 2009. The song was going to be performed as an instrumental interlude (merged with Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough) during Jackson's 2009-2010 This Is It concert series at London's O2 Arena, which was cancelled due to his sudden death. The song was remixed and released on the deluxe edition of the Michael Jackson's Immortal album. "Blame It on the Boogie" is a disco song, originally released in 1978 by English singer-songwriter Mick Jackson as well as The Jacksons, later to be covered by numerous artists. The song was co-authored by Mick Jackson (credited as Michael George Jackson-Clarke) as well as Mick's brother, David Jackson and Elmar Krohn. Although Mick Jackson recorded the song in 1977, "Blame It on the Boogie" was written in hopes of being sold to Stevie Wonder. The Mick Jackson track was showcased in 1978 at Midem where according to Mick Jackson: "The Jacksons' manager [Peter Kerstin] heard the track being played...and took a tape recording of it...back to the States [where] The Jacksons quickly recorded a version so it would be out before mine." In fact, the Mick Jackson recording was released by Atlantic Records in the US in August 1978. According to Michael Jackson of the Jacksons, Bobby Colomby, who was producing the Jacksons' Destiny album, brought the group "Blame It on the Boogie". "It was an uptempo, finger-poppin'-time type song that was a good vehicle for the band approach we wanted to cultivate. I had fun slurring the chorus: [the lyric] 'Blame It on the Boogie' could be sung in one breath without putting my lips together." Despite the Mick Jackson original reaching a #61 peak on the Billboard Hot 100 in September 1978, Epic Records that month released the Jacksons' version of "Blame It on the Boogie" as the advance single from the Destiny album. Although "Blame It on the Boogie" returned the Jacksons to the Hot 100 after five flop singles it was not the single to effect a major comeback for the Jacksons, peaking at #54. It also reached #3 R&B; and would be coupled with "Shake Your Body (Down to the Ground)" on an extended club play single which would reach #20 on the dance charts in 1979.
