The first anniversary of the loss of 353 lives with the sinking of the SIEVX on 19 October 2001 was marked by rallies in Melbourne and elsewhere – see, for example, the report in Green Left Weekly. The Melbourne rally ended with a march through the city to lay wreaths at the river.
