Entry from: Pakse, Lao Peoples Dem Rep Entry Title: "Bus Blues" Entry: "After our incredible trekking experience, we were both feeling a little travel weary and ready for a couple of rest days. Laos is an amazing country to travel, but definitely the most challenging country to travel in thus far in our journey. When we first arrived in Laos, we knew very little about the country, the politics and the history. Over the next month as we travelled from Luang Prubang to the South, we were both delighted with some of our cultural experiences and shocked to learn some of the history of this incredible country. I thought I would add some pertinent and interesting facts about Laos in this entry. We both read a very interesting book called "Another Quiet American" by Brett Dakin which gives his encounters and thoughts on living in this country over 2 years working for the National Tourist Agency. A lot of the information comes from this book - I would recommend it if you are interested in learning more about this little known country. As we left the city limits of Luang Prubang, we were quickly immersed in quite a different economic scenario. Laos is on the list of the 10 poorest countries in the world.
