The Sudetenland Crisis led up to the Munich Agreement where Czechoslovakia was thrown to the wind to appease an ever hungry Nazi Germany. But what if the Czechs fought the Germans in 1938 to retain their land? Here's one scenario.

On the 29th September 1938, Adolf Hitler, Neville Chamberlain, Benito Mussolini and Édouard Daladier reached an agreement on the Nazi annexation of the Sudetenland areas of Czechoslovakia. Seen by many as the ultimate act of failed appeasement, the Munich Agreement that was tabled on the 29th and signed in the early hours of the 30th was broken by Hitler six months later when he annexed the rest of Czechoslovakia.
As a result of the Treaty of Versailles at the end of the First World War, Germany had lost territory to the newly-created state of Czechoslovakia. Following his rise to power in Germany, Hitler set about reuniting with ethnic Germans. After the Czechoslovakian government turned down the Sudetenland’s branch of the Nazi Party request for autonomy from the rest of Czechoslovakia, which had been encouraged by Hitler, tensions between the two countries rose.
By the autumn of 1938 the situation had become a crisis, and Britain’s Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain had begun to engage Hitler in discussions aimed to avoid war. Britain and France were both desperate to reach a peaceful resolution and, when faced with Hitler’s demand to annex the Sudetenland but make no further territorial demands in Europe, the leaders eventually agreed.
Czechoslovakia had no option but to agree to the terms of the agreement, despite not being involved in the discussions. Meanwhile Chamberlain returned to Britain and made his famous speech in which he referred to the Munich Agreement and the related Anglo-German Declaration as securing “peace for our time”. Sadly he was wrong. Britain declared war on Germany less than a year later.

"The Munich Agreement was a settlement permitting Nazi Germany's annexation of portions of Czechoslovakia along the country's borders mainly inhabited by German speakers, for which a new territorial designation "Sudetenland" was coined. The agreement was negotiated at a conference held in Munich, Germany, among the major powers of Europe, excluding the Soviet Union and Czechoslovakia. Today, it is widely regarded as a failed act of appeasement toward Germany. The agreement was signed in the early hours of 30 September 1938 (but dated 29 September). The purpose of the conference was to discuss the future of the Sudetenland in the face of ethnic demands made by Adolf Hitler. The agreement was signed by Germany, France, the United Kingdom, and Italy. Sudetenland was of immense strategic importance to Czechoslovakia, as most of its border defenses were situated there, and many of its banks[citation needed] and heavy industries were located there as well.
Because the state of Czechoslovakia was not invited to the conference, it considered itself to have been betrayed by the United Kingdom and France, so Czechs and Slovaks call the Munich Agreement the Munich Diktat (Czech: Mnichovský diktát; Slovak: Mníchovský diktát). The phrase "Munich Betrayal" (Czech: Mnichovská zrada; Slovak: Mníchovská zrada) is also used because the military alliance Czechoslovakia had with France and Britain proved useless. Today the document is typically referred to simply as the Munich Pact (Mnichovská dohoda).
The Sudeten crisis produced serious political instability in Germany, with a secret meeting occurring on 20 September 1938 led by General Hans Oster, deputy head of the Abwehr and prominent figures within the German military who opposed the regime for its behaviour that was threatening to bring Germany into a war that they believed it was not ready to fight.[1] They discussed overthrowing Hitler and the Nazi regime through a planned storming of the Reich Chancellery by forces loyal to the plot to take control of the government, who would either arrest or assassinate Hitler, and most of the members at the meeting agreed that they would support the restoration of the monarchy of Kaiser Wilhelm II. The plot became known as the Oster Conspiracy."

Spain: Fascism Joins Hands
The Spanish Civil War provides Germany and Italy with a testing ground for new weapons and tactics they plan to employ in wider conflicts. The two powers, now the Rome-Berlin Axis, send troops and technicians to General Francisco Franco to support his Fascist revolt against the Spanish government.
Munich Pact: The Policy Of Appeasement
Hitler demands that the Sudetenland, a region of Czechoslovakia with many German-speaking people, be ceded to the Reich, but the Czechs threaten armed resistance. Fearful of war in Europe, Britain and France persuade Czechoslovakia to yield to Hitler's demand. On September 30, 1938, British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain and French Premier Daladier sign the Munich Pact with Hitler and Mussolini, confident that allowing annexation of the Sudetenland to Germany will satisfy Hitler and avert war.

wn.com/Sir Winston Churchill On... Neville Chamberlain
One of the defining conflicts in Churchill's career was regarding how to deal with the rising threat of Nazism in 1930's Europe. Among his opponents was Neville Chamberlain, most famous now for his ill-fated proclamation of 'Peace for our Time' after the Munich Agreement.
For the first time on camera, Sir Winston outlines the sometimes complex relationship he shared with Chamberlain, as well as some insights into their social life away from cabinet.

If ever a politician got a bum rap it's Neville Chamberlain. He has gone down in history as the British prime minster whose policy of appeasement in the 1930s allowed the Nazis to flourish unopposed. He has never been forgiven for ceding part of Czechoslovakia to Hitler in the Munich Agreement of September 1938, and for returning home triumphantly declaring "peace for our time". The very word "appeasement" is now synonymous with him, signifying a craven refusal to stand up to bullies and aggressors. What a contrast to Winston Churchill, the man who took over as prime minister and who has ever since been credited with restoring Britain's backbone.
But is the standard verdict on Chamberlain a fair one? After all, memories of the slaughter of the First World War were still fresh in the minds of the British, who were desperate to avoid another conflagration. And anyway what choice did Chamberlain have in 1938? There's a good case for arguing that the delay in hostilities engineered at Munich allowed time for military and air power to be strengthened.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov accused the European Union (EU) and the USA of escalating the Ukrainian crisis at "every stage of development" during his address at the 51st Munich Security Conference in Munich, Sunday.
In support of his accusation, Lavrov cited western support for the Maidan Square uprising in Kiev, the refusal of the EU to console Russia in regards to the Association Agreement with Ukraine, and the "indulgences" given to the Ukrainian government for starting a "large-scale military operation against their own citizens". Lavrov then stressed that Russia is trying to achieve a peaceful solution to the conflict and expressed confidence that the achievement of peace remains a possibility.
Over 400 politicians and experts took part in the 2015 Munich Security Conference, including over 20 world leaders. The ongoing conflict in eastern Ukraine was one of the dominating topics of discussion throughout the conference.

Kampf um Norwegen – Feldzug 1940 (English: Battle for Norway - 1940 Campaign) is a 1940 Nazi propaganda film directed by Martin Rikli and Dr. Werner Buhre under orders of the Oberkommando der Wehrmacht. The documentary film follows the Invasion of Denmark and Norway in the spring of 1940.
The film describes the sequence of events leading up to the invasion of Norway, especially the Anschluss of Austria, the division of Czechoslovakia after the Munich agreement and finally the invasion of Poland in September, 1939. As a prelude, it justifies the invasion of Norway by outlining the alleged plans of Britain to invade the country, and attempts by the British to mine the leads along the Atlantic coast. When the Royal Navy invaded Norwegian waters to attack the German tanker Altmark and release prisoners held there by the Germans, it signalled an escalation of the growing crisis. The British prisoners had been captured by the German cruiser Admiral Graf Spee during raids on merchant shipping in the Atlantic ocean and Indian ocean in the previous year. The campaign itself opens with the attempt by the German Navy to force entry up the Oslo Fjord, and initially failed owing to Norwegian heavy guns either side of the fjord where it narrowed in the approach to Oslo itself.

The German occupation of Czechoslovakia (1938–1945) began with the Nazi annexation of Czechoslovakia's northern and western border regions, known collectively as the Sudetenland, under terms outlined by the Munich Agreement. German leader Adolf Hitler's pretext for this effort was the alleged privations suffered by the ethnic German population living in those regions. New and extensive Czechoslovak border fortifications were also located in the same area.
Following the Anschluss of Austria to Nazi Germany, in March 1938, the conquest of Czechoslovakia became Hitler's next ambition. The incorporation of the Sudetenland into Nazi Germany left the rest of Czechoslovakia weak and it became powerless to resist subsequent occupation. On 16 March 1939, the German Wehrmacht moved into the remainder of Czechoslovakia and, from Prague Castle, Hitler proclaimed Bohemia and Moravia the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia. The occupation ended with the surrender of Germany following World War II.

The Czech Republic : Česká republika, pronounced short form Česko, sometimes referred to as Czechia in English) is a landlocked country in Central Europe.[6] The country borders Poland to the northeast, Germany to the west and northwest, Austria to the south and Slovakia to the east. The Czech Republic has been a member of NATO since 1999 and of the European Union since 2004. The Czech Republic is also a member of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). As an OSCE participating State, the Czech Republic's international commitments are subject to monitoring under the mandate of the U.S. Helsinki Commission. From 1 January 2009 to 30 June 2009, the Czech Republic held the Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
The Czech state or Bohemia (Lands of the Bohemian Crown) as it was known until 1918 was formed in the late 9th century. The country reached its greatest territorial extent during the 13th and 14th century under the rule of the Přemyslid and Luxembourg dynasties. Following the Battle of Mohács in 1526, the Kingdom of Bohemia was integrated into the Habsburg monarchy as one of its three principal parts alongside Austria and Hungary. The independent Republic of Czechoslovakia was formed in 1918, following the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian empire after World War I. After the Munich Agreement (signed by Nazi Germany, France, Britain and Italy), Polish annexation of Zaolzie and German occupation of Czechoslovakia and the consequent disillusion with the Western response and gratitude for the liberation of the major portion of Czechoslovakia by the Red Army, the Communist party won plurality (38%)[7] in the 1946 elections. In a 1948, Czechoslovakia became a communist-ruled state. In 1968, the increasing dissatisfaction culminated in attempts to reform the communist regime. The events, known as the Prague Spring of 1968, ended with an invasion by the armies of the Warsaw Pact countries (with the exception of Romania); the troops remained in the country until the 1989 Velvet Revolution, when the communist regime collapsed. On 1 January 1993, Czechoslovakia peacefully dissolved into its constituent states, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The Czech Republic is a pluralist multi-party parliamentary representative democracy. President Václav Klaus is the current head of state. The Prime Minister is the head of government (currently Petr Nečas). The Parliament has two chambers: the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate. It is also a member of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the Council of Europe and the Visegrád Group.
The Czech Republic made economic reforms such as fast privatizations. Annual gross domestic product growth has been around 6% until the outbreak of the recent global economic crisis. The country is the first former member of the Comecon to achieve the status of a developed country according to the World Bank (2006)[8] and the Human Development Index (2009),[9] which ranks it as a "Very High Human Development" nation.
