Date: April 3, 2011
In this episode Conan O’Brien discusses his “grim” childhood, the long saga of late night and the deep-down Catholic self-hatred that made him the man he is today. “Too skinny, too tall, my dick’s too big,” O’Brien complains, later explaining, “If I think a comedian’s too good looking…I really cannot believe they’re going to be any good. This is for us; this is our consolation prize.” Conan admits that, despite its happy conclusion, his decision to leave The Tonight Show was anything but pleasant: “In the moment, when things were really dark, I had no concept that it could all turn out.” He describes his concert series (depicted in Conan Can’t Stop) with a kind of reverence, saying “I was burning off something that was in me that needed to be burned off.” O’Brien credits his success to limiting his options to great achievement or total failure, rationalizing, “I probably have a Catholic need to suffer. That helps me.” As an Irish-Catholic myself, listening to his interview is like looking in a self-loathing mirror at my own dumb face that’s never going to amount to anything. In other words, it’s really encouraging!
Perhaps as the result of getting his ass kicked in by an Italian gang in high school, grappling with his own intensity, and almost losing his shit after seeing Don Knotts eat a Cobb salad one time, Conan remains humble about his decades-long comedy career. “I’m not a cynical person,” he says. “I can’t believe we’re all here.” As Conan’s father told him once after a performance, “You’re making money off of something that should be treated.” Good thing he hasn’t been cured yet.

This is from my digital camera and my own work. Except for the following copyrighted companies.
In May 2012, Hall was said to be shopping around an idea for a new late-night program and had garnered interest from Fox and TBS as to picking the show up. On June 18, 2012, Hall announced that he had brokered a deal with CBS Television Distribution and Tribune Broadcasting to bring his late-night talk show back to television. Although the show was agreed upon in time for the 2012–13 season, the agreement was to see Arsenio return at the beginning of the next season.
In a 2012 interview with Essence Magazine, Hall stated that he would like to interview Mariah Carey, as she only appeared as a featured performer on his show.
The revived Arsenio debuted on September 9, 2013. Stations that also carried Hall's original program, such as CBS-owned station KBCW in the San Francisco Bay Area and CFMT-DT in Toronto, have picked up the revived series as well. Tribune-owned stations airing Arsenio included KTLA in Los Angeles, KDAF in Dallas-Fort Worth, WPIX in New York City, WGN-TV in Chicago, KCPQ in Seattle and WDCW in Washington, D.C.. The show also aired on CBS-owned stations.
Unlike Hall's previous show, this version is taped at the Sunset Bronson Studios in Hollywood, whose lot houses KTLA. As with the original series, Hall now refers to his house band as "The Posse 2.0" which consists of Robin DiMaggio as the music leader/director and drummer, Alex Al on bass, Rob Bacon on guitar, Sean Holt on saxophone and Victoria Theodore on keyboards. Additionally, Hall's open-monologue still mostly consists of jokes about current events. Hall ends each show by saying, "I'll see you in 23 hours."
In another notable difference from Hall's previous show, Diana Steele's intro to the show's host (which she holds the "O" in "Arsenio" for a long as five seconds right before Hall comes out onto the stage, and then in the same breath, finally/immediately announces, "HALL!") is also a staple of the show.
In mid-October, executive producer Neal Kendeall stepped down due to creative differences. The senior VP of programming and development, Eric Pankowski, took over while Hall conducted a search for a new show-runner, in an effort to revamp the show and boost ratings. Reruns were aired during the transition. New shows resumed the week of October 28, 2013.
During an interview with Oprah Winfrey in October 2013, Hall and Winfrey discussed a "feud" between the two based on jokes he told nearly 20 years earlier about her weight and Oprah's partner, Stedman Graham. During their talk on Oprah's Next Chapter, Hall also mentioned his long-time friendship with Jay Leno, how David Letterman was an influence on him and the late-night talk show competition in general, including the 2010 Tonight Show conflict between Leno and Conan O'Brien.

Before joining CNBC in 1993, Bartiromo spent 5 years as a producer and assignment editor with CNN Business News. She replaced analyst Roy Blumberg at CNBC when she began reporting live from the floor of the New York Stock Exchange and began hosting and contributing to the Market Watch and Squawk Box segments.
Bartiromo was the anchor and managing editor of the CNBC business interview show On the Money with Maria Bartiromo. Since 2007, Bartiromo has been the host of the TV show The Business of Innovation. She hosted several other programs, including Closing Bell (2002–2013), Market Wrap (1998–2000), and Business Center (1997–1999). Bartiromo has also appeared on the television shows: NBC Universal's The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Oprah Winfrey Show, Real Time with Bill Maher, Late Night with Conan O'Brien, The Caroline Rhea Show, McEnroe, and The Colbert Report, as well as guest-hosting on Live with Regis and Kelly.
Bartiromo was nicknamed the "Money Honey" in the late 1990s due to her striking looks and for being the first woman to report live from the raucous floor of the New York Stock Exchange.[10][11] She also received the nickname "Econo Babe".[12] In January 2007, Bartiromo filed trademark applications to use the term "Money Honey" as a brand name for a line of children's products including toys, puzzles and coloring books to teach kids about money.[13][14] She was the subject of a conflict of interest controversy triggered by questions about her relationship with Todd Thompson, then a senior executive of Citigroup.[15][16][17]
Bartiromo has anchored the television coverage of New York City's Columbus Day parade since 1995 and was the Grand Marshal in 2010.[18] She appeared as herself in the films Risk/Reward, the documentary about the lives of women on Wall Street (2003); The Taking of Pelham 123, an action film about armed men who hijack a New York City subway train (2009); the drama film Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps (2010); the documentary Inside Job (2010); and the Richard Gere finance thriller, Arbitrage. Bartiromo is the author of three books. Her first book, Use the News: How to Separate the Noise from the Investment Nuggets and Make Money in Any Economy (2001) ISBN 978-0-06-662086-2, appeared on both the The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and USA Today bestseller lists. Her other books are the The 10 Laws of Enduring Success (2010) ISBN 978-0-307-45253-5 and The Weekend That Changed Wall Street (2011) ISBN 978-1-59184-351-1.[19] Bartiromo signed a new five-year contract with her then employer, CNBC, in late 2008.[20]
Bartiromo also writes a Monthly column for USA Today called "One-On-One".[1]
On November 18, 2013, it was announced that Bartiromo was leaving CNBC to join the Fox Business Network. CNBC issued a statement on her departure from the network: "After 20 years of groundbreaking work at CNBC, Maria Bartiromo will be leaving the company as her contract expires on November 24. Her contributions to CNBC are too numerous to list but we thank her for all of her hard work over the years and wish her the best."[21] According to The Drudge Report, Bartiromo's deal with Fox Business calls for her to anchor a daily market hours program and she will have a role on the Fox News Channel as well.
Bartiromo's awards include: Excellence in Broadcast Journalism Award, presented by the Coalition of Italo-American Associations, 1997;[19] Lincoln Statue Award, presented by the Union League of Philadelphia, 2004;[19] Gracie Award, for Outstanding Documentary, in 2008;[9][23] Emmy Award, for Outstanding Coverage of A Breaking News Story in 2008;[9][24] Emmy Award, for Outstanding Business and Economic Reporting, in 2009;[9][25] Financial Times 50 People Who Shaped the Decade in 2009;[9][26] Cable Hall of Fame, the first journalist to be inducted, in 2011.
Joey Ramone, of The Ramones, developed a crush on Bartiromo after his band broke up in the late 1990s. He subsequently wrote a song titled "Maria Bartiromo" that appeared on the Don't Worry About Me album released posthumously in 2002.
In 1999, Bartiromo married Jonathan Steinberg, chief executive officer of WisdomTree Investments, and son of financier Saul Steinberg.

Stations that also carried Hall's original program, such as CBS-owned station KBCW in the San Francisco Bay Area and CFMT-DT in Toronto, have picked up the revived series as well.[42][43][44] Tribune-owned stations airing Arsenio included KTLA in Los Angeles, KDAF in Dallas-Fort Worth, WPIX in New York City, WGN-TV in Chicago, KCPQ in Seattle and WDCW in Washington, D.C..

An India-sponsored UN convention on terrorism could not be adopted for over a decade now as nations like Pakistan have tried to define terrorists as freedom fighters, National Security Adviser Ajit Kumar Doval has said.
Delivering his key note speaker at an international security conference in Delhi, Doval said that since 2001 there had been an idea to have a comprehensive UN convention on terrorism but the failure to have one is due to "one reason - people could not define terrorism."

Truth vs. Propaganda in the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict: Summary, History, Explained (2014)

Norman Gary Finkelstein (born December 8, 1953) is an American political scientist, activist, professor, and author. His primary fields of research are the Israeli–Palestinian conflict and the politics of the Holocaust, an interest motivated by the experiences of his parents who were Jewish Holocaust survivors. He is a graduate of Binghamton University and received his Ph.D in Political Science from Princeton University. He has held faculty positions at Brooklyn College, Rutgers University, Hunter College, New York University, and DePaul University where he was an assistant professor from 2001 to 2007.
In 2007, after a highly publicized feud between Finkelstein and an academic opponent, Alan Dershowitz, Finkelstein's tenure bid at DePaul was denied.[1] Finkelstein was placed on administrative leave for the 2007–2008 academic year, and on September 5, 2007, he announced his resignation after coming to a settlement with the university on generally undisclosed terms.[2][3] An official statement from DePaul strongly defended the decision to deny Finkelstein tenure, stated that outside influence played no role in the decision.[4] In 2008, he was banned from entering Israel for 10 years.[5]
Finkelstein is currently teaching in the Center for Middle Eastern Studies at Sakarya University in Turkey.
Finkelstein is a sharp critic of Israel. Discussing Finkelstein's book Beyond Chutzpah, Israeli historian Avi Shlaim stated that Finkelstein's critique of Israel "is based on an amazing amount of research. He seems to have read everything. He has gone through the reports of Israeli groups, of human rights groups, Human Rights Watch and Peace Now and B'Tselem, all of the reports of Amnesty International. And he deploys all this evidence from Israeli and other sources in order to sustain his critique of Israeli practices, Israeli violations of human rights of the Palestinians, Israeli house demolitions, the targeted assassinations of Palestinian militants, the cutting down of trees, the building of the wall — the security barrier on the West Bank, which is illegal — the restrictions imposed on the Palestinians in the West Bank, and so on and so forth. I find his critique extremely detailed, well-documented and accurate."
In a telephone interview with Today's Zaman, in 2009, Finkelstein stated:
I think Israel, as a number of commentators pointed out, is becoming an insane state. And we have to be honest about that. While the rest of the world wants peace, Europe wants peace, the US wants peace, but this state wants war, war and war. In the first week of the massacres, there were reports in the Israeli press that Israel did not want to put all its ground forces in Gaza because it was preparing attacks on Iran. Then there were reports it was planning attacks on Lebanon. It is a lunatic state.[91]
When asked how he, as the son of Holocaust survivors, felt about Israel’s operation in Gaza, Finkelstein replied:
It has been a long time since I felt any emotional connection with the state of Israel, which relentlessly and brutally and inhumanly keeps these vicious, murderous wars. It is a vandal state. There is a Russian writer who once described vandal states as Genghis Khan with a telegraph. Israel is Genghis Khan with a computer. I feel no emotion of affinity with that state. I have some good friends and their families there, and of course I would not want any of them to be hurt. That said, sometimes I feel that Israel has come out of the boils (sic) of the hell, a satanic state[91]
The Anti-Defamation League has described Finkelstein as an "obsessive anti-Zionist" filled with "vitriolic hatred of Zionism and Israel."[92] On being called an anti-Zionist Finkelstein has said: "It's a superficial term. I am opposed to any state with an ethnic character, not only to Israel."
Finkelstein is an advocate of a two state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

wn.com/Truth Vs. Propaganda In The Israeli Palestinian Conflict Summary, History, Explained (2014)
