Live in 2008 is a self-released live album by James, containing fourteen songs recorded during their 2008 spring tour.
The album was limited to 5000 copies, and was exclusively sold at the merchandise stalls at the "We Are Sound" 2008 UK tour. Very few copies have been 'sold on' by loyal fans which have made this an extremely 'collectable' CD. Recent examples have been sold on eBay for in excess of £120.
The album was recorded by Chris Madden and mixed by Lee Muddy Baker, producer of the album Hey Ma.
2008 (MMVIII) was a leap year starting on Tuesday (dominical letter FE) of the Gregorian calendar, the 2008th year of the Common Era (CE) and Anno Domini (AD) designations, the 8th year of the 3rd millennium, the 8th year of the 21st century, and the 9th year of the 2000s decade.

Hey Ma is the tenth studio album by the British alternative rock band James. It was released on 7 April 2008. Receiving positive reviews from critics, the album peaked at #10 in the UK Albums Chart and charted for 5 weeks.
After a successful reunion tour, as well as playing a variety of festivals over summer 2007, James teamed up with the producer and musician Lee 'Muddy' Baker to start work on a new studio album. (Baker was previously most notable for his work with James' singer Tim Booth on Booth's 2004 solo album, Bone.)
The band, with the help of Baker, built their own studios at the Château de Warsy in France, a studio that consisted of a main studio as well as personal studios for each member of the band in their rooms. This allowed each member to constantly feed ideas back to Baker in the main studio. Baker also allowed the band to jam at leisure, a technique that has been credited with creating some of the band's most successful songs including "Sit Down" and "Sound". It also ensured a sense of spontaneity that has often been a major selling point for the band.

James - Live in Manchester 2001. I always felt this was one of the better versions of "Sit Down". At the time (2001) this performance was supposed to be their "Last Waltz" and this song, the final farewell to their hometown fans, marking the end of the band at the end of the song. You can almost sense Mark Hunter (keyboard) drawing out the beginning, attempting to avoid the inevitable end of the song and the group. That said, in actuality Tim Booth was having one final argument with other members as to how the song should be played. I also found it kind of sad that he leaves the stage by himself, but then again he put himself in that position. From the DVD "Getting Away With It" (highly recommended).
THIS is the one used in X-Files - D.P.O. It was featured on the Alternative NRG Greenpeace album.
