Coles Made Easy Oven Ready Fish takes all the effort out of cooking fish. It’s a delicious meal on the table in 20 minutes in 3 simple steps:
1. Choose one of these fresh fish from the deli counter: Salmon Skin-On, Thawed Basa Fillet, Thawed Ling, Fresh Barramundi Fillet, Ocean Trout Fillet or Fresh Blue Grenadier.
2. Pick your free fresh marinade made with no artificial flavours or colours. Choose from Moroccan Style; Coriander, Lemongrass & Ginger; Honey Soy & Ginger; Mustard & Dill. The deli team will put your fish into a free cooking bag with your choice of marinade.
3. Cook the fish in the oven bag. It can be oven-baked or microwaved. The instructions are all clearly marked on the bag.

I am a big seafood lover especially fish, it is so healthy for everyone to eat this. I've tried this Coles made easy ovenready fish, I wasn't sure if I will like it, but I was surprised when it tasted great! Can taste the beautiful fish and it doesn't take that long to cook either. I reccommend this to everyone. Thanks Amanda van Vuuren

I tried this as part of the product test. I got the salmon with the lemongrass and coriander sauce. The staff at Coles had excellent product knowledge and were really helpful. It was easy to cook and turned out nicely, although there was a slightly unpleasant aftertaste. I had one fillet baked and served with veggies and the second fillet flaked in a pasta salad. I think the ease and convenience of cooking is enough for me to buy it again.

As Coles didn't have any marinades in stock for us to choose from we had to accept the salmon fillets already marinated in chilli,lime marinade. The oven bag was supplied in the package with the fish. As this was the last day of testing we didn't have any other option but to take the salmon. My husband was going to choose barramundi with lemongrass and ginger. So not off to a good start. However the fish cooked beautifully and was moist and lightly flavored with the marinade. As salmon is not our preference we wouldn't buy this again.

I live on the mid North Coast of NSW and the 3 Coles stores near me did not have a great selection of the fish on the list and some did not look very fresh. I would have liked to try the Barramundi but had to get the salmon instead. I choose the Dill and Mustard marinade I used the oven bag for some and the BBQ for another. I enjoyed it both ways it was very quick, convenient and tasty. Will purchase the product again with a different fish and marinade.

Cooked fast, kept the fish very juicy. Could not taste the marinate very much, but have a hint of flavour to the fish.

I went to my local Coles to purchase some fish with the marinades and was told they didn't have any marinades and they weren't getting any more in, in the foreseeable future. I was disappointed not being able to try it.

I did not realise that there was only a select number of fish that could be used and the lady that served me at Coles allowed me to buy the Gummy Shark as this was the only fish available that was sourced in Australia and I got the lemongrass and coriander marinade. However, my fish was not placed in an oven bag and the marinade was placed in a plastic container. I therefore fried my fish and used the marinade as a dipping sauce. This fish was really good and very tasty. I only used a little bit of the marinade as a sauce as I found it very strong. Overall however it was a very tasty and quite healthy meal.

Seems like a great idea but our local Coles had little knowledge of the product and we had to ask and explain what they should do with the marinade. We tried the Morroccan marinade and it was tasty and interesting but a bit strong for the salmon.

Staff were great at my Coles. All the marinades were available to choose from. I chose the salmon with skin on and the Morroccan style marinade. They put it into the oven bag. Very easy and convenient way of cooking. I thought the morroccan marinade was way too spicy for me, although my son and husband really enjoyed the flavour. Salmon was cooked perfectly. Would probably try again but with a different marinade. Thank you for choosing me to be a taste tester for this product.

While the fish and the marinade that I chose was quite delicious, I found that the staff in store really need training in how this all works.
Apparently you're supposed to get an oven bag with the fish with the cooking instructions on it - mine was just thrown in a freezer bag with the marinade squirted on top. I tried googling for the cooking instructions (and looking on the Coles site) but could find no info so just guessed the oven temperature and time. Luckily I guessed correctly (and had oven bags in the cupboard) and it turned out quite tasty.
I was also disappointed that I couldn't find the fresh barramundi in the three stores I tried. I ended up getting something else.
Overall a great concept but needs some fine tuning.
