Taste.com.au magazine cover Taste.com.au - November 2011 Eat in, eat out, eat well. Look for the taste liftout on Tuesdays in the Herald Sun, Courier Mail and Daily Telegraph, on Wednesdays in the Adelaide Advertiser, and in Perth’s Sunday Times.

Though round, nashis are actually pears. The native Asian fruit are juicy like a pear and crisp like an apple, and have a sweet, delicate taste, so they go well with stronger flavours.

Try serving sliced nashi on a platter with ripe soft cheeses, or poach them in orange juice with vanilla, cinnamon and sugar so they soak up all the flavour. Serve with ice-cream.
