An oil production plant (sometimes called an oil terminal) is a facility which performs processing of production fluids from oil wells in order to separate out key components and prepare them for export. This is distinct from an oil depot, which do not have processing facilities.
Typical production fluids are a mixture of oil, gas and produced water. Many permanent offshore platforms have full oil production facilities onboard. Smaller platforms and subsea wells must export raw production fluid to the nearest production facility, which may be on a nearby offshore processing platform or an onshore terminal.
The production plant is said to begin after the production wing valve on the oil well. The product from each well is piped through the choke valve, which regulates the rate of flow. The flowlines are gathered in a manifold and routed into a separator, which will gravity separate the three components. Once the oil has been separated from the gas and produced water, it is usually routed to a coalescer before being metered and pumped to the onshore terminal.

OPEC Oil Output Hits Three Year High as Iran Boosts Production
Oil prices won’t be seeing the floor just yet, as crude continues to slide Tuesday following the release of the monthly oil market report from the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries. In July, OPEC posted the highest crude supply in more than three years, despite the global surplus. The group which is responsible for 40 percent of world oil supplies, increased output by 100,700 barrels a day to 31.5 million last month. That figure is 1.5 million barrels a day higher than the 12-nation group's stated output ceiling that members endorsed back in June. But, OPEC is feeling the heat as Iran restored pumping to its highest level sinc

The Eagle Ford Shale is transforming the economic landscape in South Texas, as are other shale oil fields in the United States. The UTSA Institute for Economic Development has developed a series of studies for the South Texas area that indicate the Eagle Ford is supporting $61 billion in economic activity and over 100,000 jobs.
These newly tapped shale oil and gas fields are transforming the balance of trade, as well as making the U.S. less dependent on energy imports. There are geopolitical implications for the prospect of the U.S. importing significantly less oil in the future, as well as the use of natural gas in new ways.

The world’s biggest oil platform has begun commercial production at the Sakhalin-1 offshore project in Russia’s Far East. The Berkut oil rig is expected to extract 4.5 million tons of oil annually.
The Sakhalin-1 Consortium was formed in 1996 is the first major shelf project in Russia created under terms of a Product Sharing Agreement (PSA). The international consortium is made up of the US major ExxonMobil (30 percent), Japan's Sodeco (30 percent), Russia’s Rosneft (20 percent) and India's ONGC Videsh (20 percent).
The total cost of the project is estimated to be $10-12 billion, making it the largest direct foreign investment in Russia.
The Berkut platform is expected to produce 12,000 tons of oil daily or about 4.5 million tons annually, raising the total output of the Sakhalin-1 Consortium to 27,000 tons a day.
Oil from the Arkutun-Dagi oil field will be processed at the Chaivo onshore treatment facility and then delivered by a pipeline to the DeKastri oil export terminal.
The tax revenues from oil produced by the Berkut platform will provide Russia’s regional and federal budgets with no less than $9 billion over the next ten years.

Unit 1: Welcome to the first module of a series on petroleum production engineering. On this module, we should learn how oil is produced from a well by gas lift, on of the important methods of artificial lift. objective should be to discuss gas lift applications in general, point out the different types of gas lift installations, illustrate the various pieces of surface and subsurface equipment needed for gas lift system, and finally we should show you how to design gas lift installations.
Unit 2: Now, before discussing the design of Gas Lift systems, Let's understand the Gas Lift valves.
The method of operation and the type of installation depend largely on the type of valves used. As you might expect there are different types of Gas Lift valves. Simply, we should discuss three types:
- The Casing pressure operated valve,
- The Fluid operated valve, and
- The Throttling valve.
Later we should discuss a 4th type called the Pilot operated valve.
Part 3: Covered Points:
-Types of valves to be used for an intermittent Gas Lift.
- How and when a valve will open, when it will close and the difference in these two pressures.
- Calculating the opening and closing pressures.
- The operation of the pilot valve.

OIL PRICE CRISIS - Saudi Arabia Won’t Cut Oil Production to Boost Prices
Global oil prices are tanking, but OPEC is holding firm on not slashing production to buoy prices
Saudi Arabia will not cut oil production to boost depressed prices, a reversal in the Kingdom’s usual policy of moderating supply to control prices and sending a strong message about the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries’ (OPEC) strategy for dealing with a slumped oil market.
Saudi Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Ali al-Naimi told reporters on Sunday that even if non-OPEC countries cut production, Saudi Arabia will not follow them, Reuters reports. Other ministers, including from Kuwait and Iraq, repeated the Saudi minister’s insistence on retaining steady production levels.
A boom in U.S. shale gas production has flooded the global oil market and sent gas prices tanking.
The Wall Street Journal reports that Saudi Arabia’s refusal to cut oil production has led to speculation that the world’s top petroleum exporter could be seeking to knock gas prices even lower, testing U.S. shale gas producers resolve to keep pumping. Saudi Arabia has denied any such plot and American officials have reiterated that the U.S. maintains close and friendly relations with the Kingdom.
Delegations from Russia, Saudi Arabia, Mexico and Venezuela have met for the first time in such a format for talks in Vienna to discuss rapidly dropping oil prices. Could rapidly falling oil prices trigger a nightmare scenario for the commodity derivatives market? The big Wall Street banks did not expect plunging home prices to cause a mortgage-backed securities implosion back in 2008, and their models did not anticipate a decline in the price of oil by more than 40 dollars in less than six months this time either. massive losses. But, OPEC is feeling the heat as Iran restored pumping to its highest level since 2012 following the nuclear deal. Richard Mallinson, analyst at Energy Aspects says OPEC countries are not likely to cut production to help boost prices anytime soon. Mallinson says there are some discussions going on among different OPEC members, but the most powerful member led by Saudi Arabia has no interest in cutting output in order to support prices. TheStreet's Kurumi Fukushima reports in New York.

The shale activity is also transforming lives and communities in South Texas. However, long term community sustainability is not guaranteed. Community leaders must engage in longer term strategy planning, undertake regional approaches, establish a skilled local workforce, nurture strong institutional management, and exercise fiscal discipline. If South Texas communities do these things, the region will have gone a long way toward ensuring that economic development -- which includes job growth, quality of life, and environmental stewardship -- will be sustainable for communities across South Texas well into the 21st century and beyond.

Oil ends down more than 2 percent as U.S. drilling points to glut
U.S. oil prices traded below $40 a barrel for the first time since the 2009 financial crisis, ending 2 percent lower on Friday on signs of U.S. oversupply and weak Chinese manufacturing and notching the longest weekly losing streak in almost three decades.
U.S. crude dipped below the $40 threshold following weekly data that showed U.S. energy firms added two oil drilling rigs last week, the fifth increase in a row. The rise in the number of rigs emerging after a second quarter lull in prices is adding to concerns U.S. shale production is proving slow to respond to falling prices, prolonging a global glut. WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Oil rig counts are used as a leading demand indicator for products consumed in the drilling, production and processing of hydrocarbons, according to Baker Hughes.
Since bottoming out at 628 in late June, the oil rig count has registered seven weeks of growth and one week of decline.
The late-June bottom followed 25 consecutive weeks of decline from the October 2014 high of 1609 oil rigs.
The US oil rig count plummeted as oil prices remained low and companies refrained from investing in new wells while attempting to get the most out of existing wells.

The global oil price is slipping towards its lowest point of 2015, caused by over-supply and a slump in the Chinese economy. The RAC says petrol prices could again fall close to 1 per litre if the price goes much lower. "If Brent Crude were to move to the $40 per barrel mark, the prospect of some enterprising retailers selling fuel for 1 per litre will make a return," said spokesman Rod Dennis. It comes as Asda announced another 2p cut to the price of unleaded to 109.7p per litre - a move followed soon after bySainsbury's and Morrisons. In the US, crude oil is facing its longest run of weekly declines in almost three decades. US crude dropp

Oil tumbles to six year lows
US crude oil prices fell to almost $40 a barrel on Thursday, their lowest since the global financial crisis of 2009, as supplies rose in North America and the Middle East, filling stockpiles to record levels.
Oil has lost a third of its value since June on high US production, record crude pumping in the Middle East and concern about falling demand in Asian economies.
All the main oil futures contracts looked to be heading lower, PVM Oil Associates director and technical analyst Robin Bieber said.
"The trend is down and vicious," Bieber said in a brokerage note.

[RIG/U]
"Everyone is still looking at it saying 'Wow, you still don't have production coming down,'" said Tariq Zahir, founder at Tyche Capital in Laurel Hollow, New York.

Randazzo on a Rand Paul presidency and Tesla’s new model.
WATCH The oil market was hit with another sharp swing this week, sending US prices to their biggest loss in two months. It’s all thought to be the result of a huge weekly buildup in crude supplies… the largest since 2001. That’s all according to a from the US Energy Information Administration, showing the country’s stockpiles soared to new heights last week at a record 482.4 million barrels. And we're not only talking about a glut in US oil production. Boom Bust guest host Ameera David weighs in.
Then, Erin sits down with Anthony Randazzo – director of economic research at the Reason Foundation. Anthony tells us his thoughts on energy and gives us his take on what economic policies to expect from Senator Rand Paul during his presidential campaign.
After the break, Bianca gives up a news update on other major financial stories of the day, including a look at major Asian stock markets, the worsening California drought, Tiger Woods’ major impact on golf broadcasters, and the University of Kentucky basketball team.
Afterwards, Erin joins Ameera to discuss Tesla’s new car designs, which make it look like they’re trying to compete with other luxury electric car companies.
And in The Big Deal, Ameera and Edward discuss the glut in oil production.

WATCH In an effort to find the cash necessary to keep his country afloat, Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras ordered local governments to move their funds to the central bank on Monday. According to people familiar with the decision, the decree to confiscate reserves – now held in commercial banks – and transfer them to the central bank could raise about €2 billion. With negotiations over bailout aid currently deadlocked, Tsipras very much needs cash for salaries, pensions, and a repayment to the IMF. Erin weighs in.
Then, Erin is joined by Richard Heinberg – senior fellow at the Post Carbon Institute and author of “Afterburn: Society Beyond Fossil Fuels.” Richard tells us why it matters that conventional oil production peaked. Preparing the market for rate hikes and more on oil, Saudi Arabia and ISIS.
WATCH A drop in oil prices is always good for consumers but not so good for oil-producing nations like Iraq. Iraqi government officials now say the country is on the verge of falling off a financial cliff as it struggles to pay for oil production and, at the same time, pay the escalating costs of fighting the Islamic State. Iraq has been hit especially hard by the drop in prices because it depends so much on those prices staying high. Boom Bust guest host Ameera David weighs in.
Then, Edward is joined by Marin Katusa – chief energy investment strategist at Casey Research and author of “The Colder War.” Marin tells us he thinks the $100 billion BRICS bank will help solve the problems that Russia and China want to solve but won’t necessarily help other economies in the emerging markets. Marin also gives us his take on what kind of impact oil and gas will have on the economy in Russia this year. He continues his comments with an in-depth analysis of oil and the Middle East with points on both Saudi Arabia and ISIS.
After the break, RT correspondent Lindsay France joins Ameera to talk about the Apple Watch and recent revelations about the CIA attempting to break into Apple’s software encryption.
Afterwards, Edward sits down with Tim Duy – professor of economics at the University of Oregon and senior director of the Oregon Economic Forum. Tim explains how the Federal Reserve has managed to be so influential over the US economy despite only 30% of Americans being able to identify Janet Yellen. Duy also tell us the Fed wants to raise rates in June and is preparing the markets for this possibility. The Fed may not actually raise rates in June but Duy believes its discomfort over the level of rates with unemployment closing in on the 5% level means hikes are coming this year.
And in The Big Deal, Ameera and Edward discuss some of the biggest tech stories of the day including Apple and Tesla. Enjoy!

US oil price below $40 per barrel, lowest since 2009 crisis
US crude oil prices on Friday dove below $40 a barrel for the first time since the 2009 financial crisis, notching their longest weekly losing streak in 29 years after a further rise in US drilling and a drop in Chinese manufacturing.
Oil prices pushed briefly below the $40-pivot mark following weekly data that showed US energy firms added two oil drilling rigs last week, the fifth increase in a row. The rise in rigs, which is emerging now after a second quarter lull in prices, is adding to concerns that US shale production is proving slow to respond to falling prices, prolonging a global glut.
"Everyone is still looking at it saying 'Wow, you still don't have production coming down,'" said Tariq Zahir, founder at Tyche Capital in Laurel Hollow, New York.
Energy markets slid early in the day as world stock and currency markets joined an extended rout across raw materials this week, a slump accelerated on Friday by data showing activity in China's factory sector shrank at its fastest pace in almost 6-1/2 years in August.
With deepening gloom over demand growth from the world's second-biggest oil user, and expectations for a significant build-up in surplus oil stocks this autumn, dealers said most oil traders were unwilling to fight the tide.
"The market is stuck in a relentless downtrend," said Robin Bieber, a director at London brokerage PVM Oil Associates. "The trend is down - stick with it."
US October crude fell $1.07, or 2.6 percent, to $40.25 a barrel by 1:41pm EDT (1741 GMT), having touched a new 6-1/2-year low of $39.86 a barrel. Front-month US crude has fallen 33 percent over eight consecutive weeks of losses, the longest such losing streak since 1986.
Brent oil fell $1.27, or 2.8 percent, to $45.35 a barrel, after hitting a low of $45.09 and threatening to break below $45 a barrel for the first time since March 2009.
Although the current collapse in oil prices, the second this year, has raised alarm within the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), including some of its core Gulf members, there is no indication they will reverse their policy of keeping production wide open to defend market share, delegates told Reuters this week.
As a result, oil traders are looking for further signs of a slowdown in US production to put a floor under the market, something that appears to be taking far longer than expected as drillers grow more efficient and drive down costs.
Deferred oil prices have fallen sharply this week as a result, hit even harder than near-term futures. The December 2006 contract fell $1.50 on Friday, taking its weekly loss to over 9 percent, the biggest drop in over four years. December 2018 was down more than $2 a barrel.
Oil producers are "finding a way to make lower prices work, and the forward prices are adjusting to it," said Scott Shelton, commodities specialist at ICAP in Durham, North Carolina.

US Oil Rig Count Increases for Fifth Straight Week. 21 August 07:50
A rally in prices since March fizzled by late June, when oil hovered around $60 a barrel, as oil inventories remain high and demand struggles to pick up the slack.
On Friday, the price of benchmark West Texas Intermediate crude oil hit a 6.5 year low at around $40 a barrel.
Baker Hughes has been tracking rotary rig counts since 1944 as a service to the petroleum industry.

Sliding Oil Price Could See '£1 Petrol' Return [HD News]
US crude dropped 30 cents by 9am this morning in London, to reach $41.02 a barrel. Brent North Sea crude was down to $46.42 after settling 54 cents lower on Thursday. The lowest price registered by Brent crude this year was $45.10 on 13 January. In June 2014, a barrel was worth $115. Oil has lost 32.9 percent of its value since May and more than half of its worth (54.7 percent) since this time last year. The slide is mostly due to a global surplus, with the International Energy Agency (IEA) warning production had to slow from its current "breakneck speed". It said supply is already outstripping consumption by three million barrels a day. It predicted the glut would persist into next year, despite growing demand for the commodity due to the collapse in prices. The Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries, or OPEC, is showing division over how to address the slump. Reports suggest many smaller members are putting pressure on Saudi Arabia ? whose main export is oil ? to agree to crisis meetings. Algeria is understood to have asked for urgent action, particularly on the oil production ceiling which governs the amount countries are allowed to produce. It currently sits at 30 million barrels of oil a day, a level not scheduled to be reviewed until December. Some nations have suggested lowering this threshold would reduce supply and drive up value. But Saudi Arabia, which has enough of a financial cushion to sustain itself through the slump, seems content to allow the market to dictate prices. The decline in the Chinese financial system is also having an effect as investors fret over its industrial contraction and the chances of it reducing the demand for oil even further.

US crude oil was up 10 cents at $40.90 a barrel, after hitting a new 6-1/2-year intraday low of $40.21.
The US crude front September contract expires on Thursday and has seen intraday volatility as market participants exit their positions.
The US crude October contract hit an intraday low of $40.50 on Thursday.
Brent crude futures, the global oil benchmark, were down 30 cents at $46.86 a barrel, still some way off their 2015 low of $45.19 traded in January.
US crude inventories rose 2.6 million barrels last week to 456.21 million barrels, the government's Energy Information Administration said.
Markets had been expecting a stock draw and the news pushed WTI down more than 4 percent on Wednesday.
Stockpiles rose partly because a US refinery closed for repairs last week, but also because imports rose to their highest level since April.
Canada increased exports to the United States by more than 400,000 barrels per day (bpd) over the past week to 3.39 million bpd, an Energy Aspects research note said.
But US crude oil production has also fallen by more than 250,000 bpd since the start of June.
OPEC continues to pump record levels of oil, adding to the global oil glut.
Saudi Arabia exported 7.365 million bpd in June, up from 6.935 million bpd in May, industry data showed.
In the latest sign of Saudi Arabia's attempt to secure market share, Egypt said on Thursday it agreed a $1.4 billion three-month oil products deal with state-owned Saudi Aramco to begin in September.

Mahalo: Royal Hawaiian Sandalwood Essential Oil Production
MAHALO Skin Care is a manufacturer or high-performance organic skin products on Kauai, Hawaii. We strive to use many local ingredients, one of which is the highly prized Royal Hawaiian sandalwood (Santalum Paniculatum) or "Iliahi" as it is called in Hawaii.
The Royal Hawaiian Sandalwood is made from 100% Santalum paniculatum a variety of sandalwood that is endemic to Hawaii Island (the Big Island) and found nowhere else in the world. The trees grow at an elevation of 5,000 feet on the slopes of Mauna Loa along with Mamane, Naio and Koa trees and an understory of various native shrubs including Pukiawe, Lauala, and Aalái. The climate of Big Island is ideal and these sandalwood trees have a potential to reach over 50 feet high with a canopy diameter of over 30 feet; average trees are 33 feet high and have canopies measuring around 23 feet.
The research shows that the Santalum paniculatum has impressive alpha & beta santalols compared to Santalum album and Santalum spicatum, and is above the current ISO standard for santalol content.
As you will see in the video - the half-pint jar of this oil is worth $14,000.00 - and is indeed a liquid gold.

Offshore drilling refers to a mechanical process where a wellbore is drilled through the seabed. It is typically carried out in order to explore for and subsequently extract petroleum which lies in rock formations beneath the seabed. Most commonly, the term is used to describe drilling activities on the continental shelf, though the term can also be applied to drilling in lakes, inshore waters and inland seas.

Olive Oil Production in Ancient Israel
Eric Welch, Lecturer in Jewish Studies at the University of Kansas, discusses the importance of agriculture in ancient Israel. Eric discusses the process ancient people used to produce wheat, grapes, and olives. Special emphasis is given to olive oil production and the ancient city of Ekron.
Additionally, Eric discusses the process archaeologists use to study ancient people's agricultural resources and processes for gathering those resources. By looking at these aspects of ancient life, the lives of those who are recorded in the Bible become more clear to a modern reader.

Full Description and Comments at: http://www.peakprosperity.com/podcast/91722/arthur-berman-why-todays-shale-era-retirement-party-oil-production
As we've written about often here at PeakProsperity.com, much of what's been 'sold' to us about the US shale oil revolution is massively over-hyped. The amount of commercially-recoverable shale oil is much less than touted, returns much less net energy than the petroleum our economy was built around, and is extremely unprofitable to extract for most drillers at today's lower oil price.
To separate the hype from reality, our podcast guest is Arthur Berman, a geological consultant with 34 years of e

Oil Apocalypse (Mega Disasters)
Peak oil, an event based on M. King Hubbert's theory, is the point in time when the maximum rate of extraction of petroleum is reached, after which the rate of production is expected to enter terminal decline. Peak oil theory is based on the observed rise, peak, (sometimes rapid) fall, and depletion of aggregate production rate in oil fields over time. Mostly due to the development of new production techniques and the exploitation of unconventional supplies, Hubbert's original predictions for world production proved premature. Peak oil is often confused with oil depletion; peak oil is the point of maximum production, while depletion refers to

Inside Story - What's driving oil prices down?
The International Energy Agency said prices are likely to come under further pressure, as it cut its outlook for growth in demand next year. And some analysts expect prices to fall to as low as $55 a barrel in the short term. In its meeting last month, the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries decided to keep its production levels unchanged. What is making the situation even worse is a boom in US shale oil production. So while consumers enjoy an extra jingle in their pockets this festive season, cash-hungry oil exporters are left with sleepless nights. But are there other reasons behind the free fall in oil prices? And who sta

Offshore Oil Drilling - Documentary Films.

To separate the hype from reality, our podcast guest is Arthur Berman, a geological consultant with 34 years of experience in petroleum exploration and production.
Berman sees the recent US oil production boost from shale drilling as and short-lived and somewhat desperate; a kind of last hurrah before the lights get turned out.

Perdido: the World’s Deepest Offshore Oil Drilling and Production Platform
Perdido is the deepest floating oil platform in the world at a water depth of about 2450 meters (8000 feet) operated by the Shell Oil Company in the Gulf of Mexico.
The Perdido is located in the Perdido fold belt which is a rich discovery of crude oil and natural gas that lies in water that is nearly 8000 feet deep. The platform's peak production will be 100,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day. At 267 meters, the Perdido is nearly as tall as the Eiffel Tower.

Peak oil is often confused with oil depletion; peak oil is the point of maximum production, while depletion refers to a period of falling reserves and supply.

PRIME TIME NEWS 22:00 OPEC refuses to cut production, oil prices slump
PRIME TIME NEWS 22:00
OPEC decides to keep its oil output steady... taking no action to ease a global supply glut. Oil prices continue falling.
Black Friday is here... in Korea. Local retailers pull out their own Black Friday sales to keep consumers from directly shopping with U.S. stores online.
And an American film about an assassination plot against North Korean leader Kim Jong-un is hitting the screens in over 60 countries next month.
Title: OPEC refuses to cut production, oil prices slump
We begin with OPEC′s big decision on how much oil it would keep pumping into world markets.
Prices have been low on a global supply glut... with various circles wanting to cut production to boost price levels back up.
But OPEC′s decision to keep its oil output steady led Brent crude oil to hit 70 dollars per barrel,... the lowest price seen since mid-2010.
Connie Lee has our top story. Oil prices have been on the downward spiral for a while now, but they sunk even further on Thursday, after OPEC decided not to cut oil production.
During a six-hour long meeting in Vienna, the 12 members of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries decided to maintain their oil output at current levels.
"The conference decided to maintain the production level of 30 million barrels a day, as was agreed in December 2011."
After the announcement, Brent Crude oil tumbled below 73-U.S. dollars a barrel a low not seen since May 2010.
"For four years-and-a-half we had a very decent price. Now the price has declined, but that does not mean that we should really rush and do something."
The decision, led by Saudi Arabia, was reached despite a global oversupply, and calls from less well-off members who favored a production cut to stem the sliding crude prices.
Prices have been dropping like a stone this year, losing around 30-percent of their value since June, in the face of rising shale oil production in the U.S.
Energy experts believe OPEC′s strategy is to maintain its dominance in the market in the long run a further drop in prices will make U.S. shale oil less economical.
Although Thursday′s outcome didn′t come as a surprise, it will hurt non-OPEC exporters, like Russia which already faces Western sanctions over its role in Ukraine.
Connie Lee, Arirang News.
Title: News-in-Depth: Impact of OPEC decision on Korea′s energy market
And let′s stay with this story and go in-depth.
To help us do that, Professor Yang Jun-sok is joining us right here in the studio.
Thanks for coming in today.
Do you agree with one of the last points made in the report... that OPEC has stepped closer to a global price war by not cutting oil production? How do you forecast this move will play out and affect the energy market?
One of the factors in this development that we need to think about is possibly decreasing influence of the OPEC itself. Oil minister of Nigeria said that non-OPEC countries′ involvement is necessary for the oil price to go up. Wha

And who stands to gain or lose?

Energy Training Resources is a leader in oil and gas industry education. Our primary business is conducting industry overview courses for oil and gas companies and contractors/suppliers to improve their employees' working knowledge, team working capabilities and communication skills. We also have public courses available.
Posted here is an example segment from a video on DVD that we produced called Oil and Gas Drilling: from Planning to Production. It is 2-hours long and follows the drilling of a horizontal well through planning; site preparation; rig mobilization; drilling of vertical, curve and lateral well sections; hydraulic fracturing; well connection; and production facilities. It's the most comprehensive drilling video available and is being used by more than 500 different companies and institutions. It is highly useful for both professional staff and rig workers.
The video also includes side tutorials on all the major drilling topics such as casing and cementing, well control, drill bits, rig safety, directional drilling and more. It is presented in high definition and includes animations of down-hole activities. The rig used in the video is one of the most advanced land rigs in the industry.

With the legislative and regulatory framework in place to move forward with hydraulic fracturing, or "fracking," of shale formations in three U.S. Midwestern states, oil companies are now in a race against the clock. They need oil prices to rebound in time to make their already considerable investments in shale exploration in the region pay off. VOA’s Kane Farabaugh reports.

U.S. oil prices traded below $40 a barrel for the first time since the 2009 financial crisis, ending 2 percent lower on Friday on signs of U.S. oversupply and weak Chinese manufacturing and notching the longest weekly losing streak in almost three decades.
U.S. crude dipped below the $40 threshold following weekly data that showed U.S. energy firms added two oil drilling rigs last week, the fifth increase in a row. The rise in the number of rigs emerging after a second quarter lull in prices is adding to concerns U.S. shale production is proving slow to respond to falling prices, prolonging a global glut.

He also opens on whether the glut in output from tight oil formations is going to last and what impact that situation will have on oil prices over the next two years.
After the break, Bianca gives us a news update on other business headlines of the day including earnings, the California drought, and corporate tax reform.
Afterwards, Ameera sits down with Bryan Caplan – professor of economics at George Mason University and blogger at EconLog. Bryan explains his frustrating with voting and gives us his take on why a surprising number social science professors identify with Marxism.
And in The Big Deal, Erin and Edward discuss China’s slowing economic growth.

Enjoy!

Offshore Oil Drilling - Documentary Films.

Peak oil is often confused with oil depletion; peak oil is the point of maximum production, while depletion refers to a period of falling reserves and supply.
