Sorry about the blank video at the end, please ignore it after 8.5 minutes, I will fix it once youtube allows me trim it.
We hope you enjoy this quick video of our amazing trip to the Inner Hebrides in July this year (2015). Originally we planned to complete an expedition from Castlebay to the most Southern island of Mingulay in the Outer Hebrides but due to ferry strikes we had to delay our trip until further notice.
Instead we visited the Isle of Skye, kayaking from a launch point just south Portree on a coastal road running between Loch Sligachan & Loch Ainort.
From there we kayaked to North Scalpay & made camp for the night.
In the morning with the tidal stream with us, we made our way across to the isle of Raasay & up the east coast to our second night of camping on the northern tip.
On day three we circumnavigated Rona & camped on the west coast of Raasay before returning to our launch the next day.
For a map of our route please check out the google maps link below:
https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=z50KfXQZoK_Y.kom-MUTVvTcY&usp;=sharing
Scotland is a naturally beautiful & wild place, if you have the opportunity please visit & post any pictures or videos. We are always considering the next trip so please post a reply if you have any suggestions.
This video & the whole trip wouldn't have been possible without the support of my awesome partner Steph, thanks for all the help, support & patience ps. sorry about any snoring.
In addition I would like to thank our good friends Ruth & Johnny who changed their arrangements at the last minute to accommodate us on both the trip there & back. We appreciated it more than you know & the first shower after four days in the outback was like heaven. We will see you soon no doubt....
I would like to make a special thanks to Google Earth which allowed me to design the fly through scene at the beginning & generally allowed us to plan this and many other trip.
If you would like any information on our trip & equipment or about sponsorship for our next expedition to the Outer Hebrides, please leave a comment & ill try to get back to you asap.
Thanks for watching

Scotland - mother of bagpipes, Nessie, and the Highlands - is going to be the temporary home for our climbers when they set out for the ultimate outdoor adventure on the rugged Scottish coast. Sailing on the grand beauty that is the Eda Frandsen, the travellers await the landing at the southern tip of the Outer Hebrides with curious anticipation. The monumental arch architecture on the cliffs of Pabbay take their breath away: 150 meters of vertical rock! They enter the island as if there were myteries to explore and set out to climb the coastline that plunges abruptly into the sea. Wherever they conquer the cliffs of the Outer Hebrides, they are greeted by theatrical views of the breathtaking Scottish countryside, making this outdoor adventure an unforgettable experience.

6) The Western Isles
The Outer Hebrides, (officially known for local government purposes by the Gaelic name, Na h-Eileanan Siar) comprise an island chain off the west coast of Scotland. The local government area is one of the 32 unitary council areas of Scotland.
The island chain forms part of the Hebrides, separated from the Scottish mainland and from the Inner Hebrides by the stormy waters of the Minch, the Little Minch and the Sea of the Hebrides. On the island chain Scottish Gaelic formerly was the dominant language, and remains widely spoken even though in some areas it has now been largely supplanted by English.

Mendelssohn - Hebrides Overture (Fingal's Cave), Op. 26 [HD]
The concert overture The Hebrides (German: Die Hebriden), Op. 26, also known as Fingal's Cave (Die Fingalshöhle), was composed by Felix Mendelssohn in 1830. The piece was inspired by Mendelssohn's visit to Fingal's Cave on the island of Staffa, located in the Hebrides archipelago off the west coast of Scotland. As was common in the Romantic era, this is not an overture in the sense that it precede

Great Bernera, Isle of Lewis (Best Watch in full 1080 HD)
Great Bernera is an island in the Outer Hebrides off the west coast of Scotland. With an area of just over 21 km2 (8.1 sq mi), it is the thirty-fourth largest Scottish island.
Great Bernera lies in Loch Roag on the north-west coast of Lewis and is linked to it by a road bridge. Built in 1953, the bridge was the first pre-stressed concrete bridge in Europe. It was constructed after islanders threatened to dynamite the hillside to create a causeway of their own making.
The main settlement on the island is Breaclete. Breaclete is home to a small museum, school, a post office, church, community centre with cafe, petrol station, fire station, doctor's surgery and a childrens playpark.
Bernera is also known for its Iron Age settlement at Bosta, discovered in 1993 and now covered by sand to preserve it. A replica Iron Age house matching those now buried is sited nearby. The house is open for visitors throughout the summer months.
Bosta Beach is made from sparkling white shell sand. This popular beach has good views of the cliff bounds islands of Outer Loch Roag, notably Little Bernera, Flodday, Bearsay, the Old Hill and Campay. Campay is pierced by a natural tunnel about 120 meters long.
Callanish VII is a unique standing stone arrangement near the bridge between Lewis and Bernera, set out in a semicircle. It is known locally as Tursachan, which means merely "Standing Stones". The ruins of Dun Barraglom broch are nearby Bostadh
The Bernera Riot took place in 1872, and occurred as a reaction to heavy-handed evictions and treatment by the factor of Sir James Matheson, Donald Munro. The islanders refused to send their livestock over to Lewis, and were in turn threatened with a military visit. This did not occur, but even more eviction notices were handed out, and the visitors were pelted with clods of earth.
A cairn was situated in the centre of Bernera in 1992 to commemorate the Bernera Riot of 1874.
Great Bernera hosts numerous sea bird species, including gulls, waders and ducks such as Goldeneye, and much wild life.
Little Bernera lies between the sea lochs of West and East Loch Roag, immediately to the north of Great Bernera.

As was common in the Romantic era, this is not an overture in the sense that it precedes a play or opera; it is a concert overture, a stand-alone musical selection, and has now become part of standard orchestral repertoire. The piece was dedicated to King Frederick William IV of Prussia (then Crown Prince of Prussia).
Mendelssohn's first visit to England in 1829 resulted from invitations by Sir George Smart and the Philharmonic Society. Following his tour of England, Mendelssohn proceeded to Scotland, where he began work on his Symphony No. 3, Scottish. He was engaged on a tour of Scotland with his travelling companion Karl Klingemann when he sent a postcard to his family with the opening phrase of the overture written on it. In a note to his sister, Fanny Mendelssohn he said: "In order to make you understand how extraordinarily the Hebrides affected me, I send you the following, which came into my head there." The cave at that time was approximately 35 feet (11 m) high and over 200 feet (61 m) deep, and contained black basalt pillars.
The work was completed on 16 December 1830 and was originally entitled Die einsame Insel (The Lonely Island). However, Mendelssohn later revised the score, completing it by 20 June 1832, and renamed the piece Die Hebriden (The Hebrides). Despite this, the title of Fingal's Cave was also used: on the orchestral parts he labelled the music The Hebrides, but on the score Mendelssohn labelled the music Fingal's Cave. The overture was premiered on 14 May 1832 in London, in a concert that also featured Mendelssohn's Overture to A Midsummer Night's Dream.
The music, though labelled as an overture, is intended to stand as a complete work. Although programme music, it does not tell a specific story and is not "about" anything; instead, the piece depicts a mood and "sets a scene", making it an early example of such musical tone poems. The overture consists of two primary themes; the opening notes of the overture state the theme Mendelssohn wrote while visiting the cave, and is played initially by the violas, cellos, and bassoons. This lyrical theme, suggestive of the power and stunning beauty of the cave, is intended to develop feelings of loneliness and solitude. The second theme, meanwhile, depicts movement at sea and "rolling waves".

Scottish artist Dr John Lowrie Morrison OBE or ‘Jolomo’ as he has become known has a unique perspective on the beauty of his native land and concentrates the colour of the Hebrides through his very individual expressionist style. Vibrant colour pervades his work and begs the viewer to visit the beautiful landscape and experience the cerulean seas and the unique light and palette the Western Isles and the Hebrides exude.
Jolomo, lives and works on the west coast of Scotland. He paints in the Expressionist style and his shows have been sell-outs, attracting an international following and in demand from individual collectors and corporations alike. Jolomo’s pictures resonate with regular visitors to the Scottish Highlands and Islands and are cherished reminders of this exceptional part of the world.
In this his 14th London exhibition with Corrymella Scott Gallery Jolomo brings a collection of work drawn from several trips over a period of decades visiting the area where his father grew up in a croft at Kyles of Scalpay on the Isle of Harris.
