Mandalay was the last Royal Capital of Myanmar/Burma, founded in mid 19 century. Close to Mandalay are the remains of other royal capitals, spanning the history from early 14th century: Sagaing, Inwa (1364), Amarapura (1783). The most amazing site in the area is the great pagoda in Mingun, unfinished and later damaged by earthquake (1839).

Mandalay (Burmese: မန္တလေး; MLCTS: manta.le: [máɴdəlé]; English: /ˌmændəˈleɪ/ or /ˈmændəleɪ/) is the second-largest city and the last royal capital of Burma (Myanmar). Located 445 miles (716 km) north of Yangon on the east bank of the Irrawaddy River, the city has a population of one million, and is the capital of Mandalay Region.
Mandalay is the economic hub of Upper Burma and considered the centre of Burmese culture. A continuing influx of Chinese immigrants, mostly from Yunnan Province, in the past twenty years, has reshaped the city's ethnic makeup and increased commerce with China. Despite Naypyidaw's recent rise, Mandalay remains Upper Burma's main commercial, educational and health centre.
The city gets its name from the nearby Mandalay Hill. The name is likely a derivative of a Pali word although the exact word of origin remains unclear. The root word has been speculated as: "Mandala" (meaning, circular plains), "Mandare" (believed to mean "auspicious land"), or "Mandara" (a mountain from Hindu mythology).

Robert Peter "Robbie" Williams (born 13 February 1974) is an English singer-songwriter, vocal coach and occasional actor. He is a member of the pop group Take That.
Williams rose to fame in the band's first run in the early- to mid-1990s. After many disagreements with the management and certain group members, Williams left the group in 1995 to launch his solo career. On 15 July 2010, it was announced he had rejoined Take That and that the group intended to release a new album in November 2010 which became the second fastest-selling album of all-time in UK chart history and the fastest-selling record of the century.
Williams has sold over 70 million records worldwide, which ranks him among the best-selling music artists worldwide. He is the best-selling British solo artist in the United Kingdom and the best selling non-Latino artist in Latin America. Six of his albums are among the top 100 biggest-selling albums in the United Kingdom. He has also been honoured with seventeen BRIT Awards—more than any other artist—and seven ECHO Awards. In 2004, he was inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame after being voted as the "Greatest Artist of the 1990s."

Francis Albert "Frank" Sinatra, 
/sɨˈnɑːtrə/, (December 12, 1915 – May 14, 1998) was an American singer and film actor.
Beginning his musical career in the swing era with Harry James and Tommy Dorsey, Sinatra became an unprecedentedly successful solo artist in the early to mid-1940s, after being signed to Columbia Records in 1943. Being the idol of the "bobby soxers", he released his first album, The Voice of Frank Sinatra in 1946. His professional career had stalled by the 1950s, but it was reborn in 1953 after he won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in From Here to Eternity.
He signed with Capitol Records in 1953 and released several critically lauded albums (such as In the Wee Small Hours, Songs for Swingin' Lovers, Come Fly with Me, Only the Lonely and Nice 'n' Easy). Sinatra left Capitol to found his own record label, Reprise Records in 1961 (finding success with albums such as Ring-a-Ding-Ding!, Sinatra at the Sands and Francis Albert Sinatra & Antonio Carlos Jobim), toured internationally, was a founding member of the Rat Pack and fraternized with celebrities and statesmen, including John F. Kennedy. Sinatra turned 50 in 1965, recorded the retrospective September of My Years, starred in the Emmy-winning television special Frank Sinatra: A Man and His Music, and scored hits with "Strangers in the Night" and "My Way".

Twenty-four hundred years after the death of Buddha, King Mindon ordered the 150,000 inhabitants of Amarapura to relocate here.The well preserved Shwenandaw Monastery is one of the last examples of the traditional monasteries whose splendor once made Mandalay famous. The complex has all the architectural elements of a typical Burmese monastery but it is its beautiful wood carvings that are the most striking. To the north of the city is the 236 metre high Mandalay Mountain that dominates the plains below. The tree covered mountain is dominated by the towers of many temples and as Buddha once lived on this mountain, it is considered to be extremely sacred and thus contains several pagodas and shrines. Amarapura, the ‘Immortal City’, is situated in the south. It was the first of the country’s royal cities and today it is a small town in which its inhabitants earn their living from weaving.On the western hills are some of the most elegant and splendid monastery complexes such as the U Min Thonzeh Pagoda where forty five Buddha figures stand in a semi-circle, dignified and benign. Once known as the Centre of the World and today the religious and financial centre of the region, Mandalay lies at the heart of Burmese culture.

Myanmar's attractions lie largely in the area of the spiritual. Temples, pagodas and historical sites abound with some areas such as Bagan boasting so many attractions that it would be impossible to take them in during a single visit. With landscapes, a tropical climate, beaches, cheap transportation and truly awesome sights, Myanmar is a fascinating and bewitching destination.
1 - Bagan The main tourist destination in Myanmar and capital of the first Myanmar Empire; one of the richest archaeological sites in South-east Asia. Situated on the eastern bank of the Ayeyawaddy River, the magic of Bagan has inspired visitors to Myanmar for nearly a thousand years.
2 - Inle is a vast lake located in the heart of Shan State which shares borders with Thai and Laos at over 900m above sea level. It's outrageously beautiful and in the mountains, so cooler than other areas. More than 30 hill tribes live in the surrounding mountains. It is on the tourist routes via Heho Airport. Lake transport is by long-tail boat, with the jetty some 30 minutes drive from the airport. There are several lake resorts on stilt structures. Ubiquitous clumps of water hyacinth give an interesting texture to the boat ride.
3 - Ngapali Beach - The beach stretches nearly 3 km with soft white sand fringed by coconut palms.
4 - Mrauk U - Largely unknown to the Western world for much of its turbulent history, Rakhine played a pivotal role in the exchange of cultures and religions between India and Southeast Asia. For over a thousand years the region which now forms the Rakhine State was an independent state whose rich history is only slowly being paid the attention it deserves.
5 - Kyaiktiyo (Golden Rock) - This mystical pagoda built in the enshrinement of Buddha relic stands on a gold gilded boulder, precariously perched on the edge of the hill over 1100 m above sea-level.
It is important to dress moderately, especially in temples and pagodas. Cover your shoulders and knees, as the locals do. Be patient, polite and show respect. You will be rewarded with lots of nice experiences, because the locals will react more open and more relaxed towards you and let you take part in their daily lifes.
6 - Nabule Beach. Beautiful golden sand beach 25 miles north of Dawei City in Southern Myanmar. The beach is completely unspoilt without all the drawbacks of modern beach side development. edit

Things to do in Las Vegas Travel Guide Transcript:
Las Vegas! Vegas, Baby! With a weekend to explore Las Vegas we arrived hitting the ground running wanting to pack in as much as we possibly could over a short period of time. Nigh life, music, gambling, entertainment, dancing, walking the Strip and shows in the evening. Driving luxury cars, helicopter tours, exploring the Grand Canyon and marveling at Red Rock Canyon by day. Las Vegas was full of surprises. The following is a Las Vegas travel guide to experience the most out of your vacation to Sin City. It is the best things to do on Las Vegas Strip along with day excursions outside of the city limits. As they say, what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.
So we aren't in Canada no more! This weekend we actually escaped to Las Vegas so we are going to be spending three days just enjoying winter in the desert and doing cool stuff. And today we're walking down the strip and we're going to show you some of the sights. And the best part - no winter parka right now.
Enough walking for a while. I'm starving. Let's get some dinner. We're going to Shake Shack.
So when this buzzer goes it's time for me to get my food.
It's ready. It's ready. Go get it!
There is the man bringing food. Ooh la lah. I'm on a total health kick today. We've got a double burger, cheese fries, peanut butter shake and a root beer float.
When in Vegas.
I think I found my new favorite burger here at the Shake Shack.
They just do their patties to perfection over here.
Tell, me. Tell, me! You know what? Nobody does fast food like Americans. They've got it down to a science. It's absolutely unhealthy but so delicious.
We just found a jelly bean Statue of Liberty and I'm going to dare Sam five bucks to lick it.
So what did you find? I found the largest Hershey chocolate bar in the world. Really?
We're going to head back to the hotel and get ready for a show. We're going to be seeing the Michael Jackson Show at the Mandalay Bay but unfortunately we can't bring any cameras in there so we won' t be able to show you that but maybe after the show we'll hit the town again and show you the sights. Not maybe! Definitely!
It is so sad to be leaving but it is our last night in Las Vegas so we're going to go out and try and see as much as we can this evening. Let's go wild. Let's gamble.
Why are you at the ATM machine right now? We need some cash to fuel our gambling addiction.
It is never ending. The lights. The noise. The ding ding ding ding. This is what a casino sounds like twenty-four seven. We see people gambling here at like five in the morning when we get up for breakfast. And yes we do get up that early.
What would a trip to Vegas be like without a little gambling? Sam, even looks like an old gambler today with that hat. Oh, I do. Guess what? We're such cheapskates we're playing with pennies. We're going to the penny machine. They don't even have pennies in Canada anymore, so let's use these American pennies up.
Shiver me timbers. I'm playing a pirate game. I'm going to win me some money.
Tell us? Alright, I was a pretty lousy pirate, so I'm going to try my luck with this Owl game. Hoot! Hoot!
Ding ding ding ding ding. Being the supreme cheapskate that I am I'm cutting my loses after two dollars.
So we're here at the Bellagio for the water show. And they have a lot of frequent shows in the evening so we're just waiting for it to start.
So we are now at the Cosmopolitan and we are visiting one of the coolest bars in all of Las Vegas. This behind me is the Chandelier.

North of Burma’s central plains is the exotic and fascinating Shan State, a beautiful landscape in South East Asia located on the eastern side ofMyanmar. Once 40 Shan monarchs ruled there but they lived in hostile times as Burmese kings and Chinese warlords fought against them to gain control of their fertile land.We begin our journey at Inle Lake. The magical beauty of this body of water has attracted and fascinated people since time immemorial and this unique lake is home to the Intha people. The next leg of the journey leads to a far more tranquil section of the lake that features floating gardens that are around a hundred metres long and two metres wide and consist of a densely interwoven carpet of water hyancinths. Mandalay, ‘The City of Art’, is located in the centre of Shan State. It was founded in 1857 and up until the British conquered it in 1885, it was the capital of the kingdom of Burma. The Mahamuni Pagoda is the centre of worship and is also where the Mahamuni Buddha is kept, the country’s most highly worshipped Buddha statue. Around 12 kilometres beyond Hsipaw is the legendary Bagyo Pagoda. Surrounded by a magnificent wall, it is thought that the sanctuary is more than 700 years old. An important festival takes place each year around Tabaung, the time of the full moon in February and March, and is the highlight of the town’s cultural calendar. The Shan people in the north of Myanmar have most certainly retained their cultural heritage and Shan State is an exotic combination of both nature and culture and a land of beauty and joie de vivre!

Historically, the casinos that were not in Downtown Las Vegas along Fremont Street were limited to outside of the city limits on Las Vegas Boulevard. In 1959 the Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign was constructed exactly 4.5 miles (7.2 km) outside of the city limits. The sign is today about 0.4 miles (0.64 km) south of the southernmost entrance to Mandalay Bay (the southernmost casino).
In the strictest sense, "the Strip" refers only to the stretch of Las Vegas Boulevard that is roughly between Sahara Avenue and Russell Road, a distance of 4.2 miles (6.8 km).[6][7] However, the term is often used to refer not only to the road but also to the various casinos and resorts that line the road, and even to properties which are not on the road but in proximity. Phrases such as Strip Area, Resort Corridor or Resort District are sometimes used to indicate a larger geographical area, including properties 1 mile (1.6 km) or more away from Las Vegas Boulevard, such as the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Rio All Suite Hotel and Casino, and Palms Casino Resort.
The traditional definition considers the Strip's northern terminus as the SLS, though travel guides typically extend it to include the Stratosphere, 0.4 miles (0.64 km) to the north. At one time, the southern end of the Strip was Tropicana Avenue, but continuing construction has extended this boundary to Russell Road. Mandalay Bay is located just north of Russell Road and is the southernmost resort considered to be on the Strip.
Because of the number and size of the resorts, the Resort Corridor can be quite wide. Interstate 15 runs roughly parallel and 0.5 to 0.8 miles (0.80 to 1.29 km) to the west of Las Vegas Boulevard for the entire length of the Strip. Paradise Road runs to the east in a similar fashion, and ends at St. Louis Avenue. The eastern side of the Strip is bounded by McCarran International Airport south of Tropicana Avenue. North of this point, the Resort Corridor can be considered to extend as far east as Paradise Road, although some consider Koval Lane as a less inclusive boundary. Interstate 15 is sometimes considered the western edge of the Resort Corridor from Interstate 215 to Spring Mountain Road. North of this point, Industrial Road serves as the western edge.
