The Association is an American pop band from California in the folk rock or soft rock genre. During the 1960s, they had numerous hits at or near the top of the Billboard charts (including "Windy", "Cherish", and "Along Comes Mary") and were the lead-off band at 1967's Monterey Pop Festival.
Jules Alexander (born September 25, 1943, Chattanooga, Tennessee) was in Hawaii in 1962 serving a stint in the Navy when he met Terry Kirkman (born December 12, 1939, Salina, Kansas, who had grown up in Chino, California, and attended Chaffey College as a music major), a visiting salesman. The two young musicians jammed together and promised to get together once Alexander was discharged. That happened a year later; the two eventually moved to Los Angeles and began exploring the city's music scene in the mid-1960s, often working behind the scenes as directors and arrangers for other music acts. At the same time, Kirkman played in groups with Frank Zappa for a short period before Zappa went on to form The Mothers of Invention.
I still had the original mp4 on my HDD from when SixtiesPopGold originally uploaded this about 6 years ago, it has slightly less compression than the version currently up here, so I fixed the color hue and cleaned up the audio a wee bit, of course, YouTube always seems to mess up the contrast so things appear slightly darker than I actually made them.

I deleted most of the talk between songs which becomes tedious after repeated listening and I added some delay and reverb to make a "bigger", more "live" sound. For the purists who would prefer the original sound with dialog intact, I can only suggest you buy the album. Remember: you're hearing it here for free. This is from a 1970 concert in Salt Lake City, Utah. The line up at the time was (the Late)Larry Ramos / Gary Alexander / (the late) Brian Cole / Ted Bluechel / Terry Kirkman / Russ Giguere / Jim Yester. ©1979, 1980 Home Box Office Excerpt from "THEN & NOW" - A reunion of million-dollar musicians at the Cocoanut Grove, Ambassador Hotel, Los Angeles - Hosted by Mort Sahl Read more about the legendary 'Grove' and Ambassador on Wikipedia. Keoni Tyler notes: In cable's infancy in the 1970s, most of the few cable networks on-the-air lacked the polished production values of the big-3 networks (ABC, CBS, NBC). However the defacto pay-tier HBO always had a polished on-air look and standard that made them truly in the big-league of their broadcast brethren. HBO was (and still is) in a class of its own and all local cable operators of the era owed their solid growth to the network that knew that besides feature films which could eventually be seen on t.v. elsewhere, they needed exclusive special...

The Promised Messiah and founder of the Jamaat Ahmadiyya Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Qadiani's blessed son, Hazrat Mirza Bashiruddin Mahmood Ahmad (The Khalifatul Masih II and Musleh Mauod) married Hazrat Syeda Maryam Begum on 7th February, 1924. She was the daughter of Hazrat Dr. Abdul Sattar Shah, scion of an eminent Syed family. In his Nikah sermon, Syed Sarwar Shah Sahib, a venerable companion of the Promised Messiah said, "I am now advanced in years and would soon pass away, But those who live would witness the advent of Servants of the faith born in this wedlock with a Syeda as occurred before. This is my resolute conviction." And so this Servant of the faith was born on 18th December, 1928. He grew up righteousness and virtuous under the guidance of his illustrious father and devout ...
This is an episode of Johnny O'Keefe's "Where the Action Is " . Just some background ...I had just joined the Sydney TV station TEN 10 as a Cameraman and landed the job of shooting this variety show . We shot on locations all over Sydney and elsewhere weekly for about 10 months. This is the only known episode that I can find in existence. All televised in Black and White (1967) before colour TV. My facebook profile pic. was taken during the shooting of this episode at Balmoral Beach Sydney. The cameras were state of the art (at the time lol ) ..Marconi Mk1V's. People outside of Australia probably dont know Johnny O'Keefe ... in his day he was a huge rock star in Australia releasing over 100 albums . Like many others he tragically died way before his time Oct 6 1978 at age 43...

Goodbye Columbus
GOODBYE COLUMBUS
The Association
Got to say hello, it's a lucky day
Kiss the moon goodbye and be on our way
It's a lucky day 'cause I found you
Gonna build a new world around you
Touch the sun and run, it's a lucky day
Hello life, goodbye Columbus
I've got a feelin' that you're gonna hear from us
You're gonna know that we've taken the world by surprise
Got that look in our eyes
Its a lucky day, just for changin'
Leavin' the old world behind
Lucky day for walkin' a new road
Just to clear your mind
It's a day for startin' a new way
Tellin' the old one goodbye
Lucky day for gettin' above it
Spread your wings and fly
[repeat chorus]
It's a lucky day (goodbye Columbus...)
[repeat chorus]
It's a lucky day, yeah
Goodbye, goodbye Columbus
Coda [repeat to fade]:
Goodbye, goodbye Columbus
Goodbye, goodbye Columbus
