Donald William "Don" Felder (born September 21, 1947; Gainesville, Florida) is an American musician and songwriter, best known for his work as lead guitarist for the Eagles from 1974 to 1980 and again from 1994 to 2001.
Don Felder was first attracted to music after watching Elvis Presley live on The Ed Sullivan Show. He acquired his first guitar when he was around 10, which he has stated he exchanged with a friend at the five-and-dime for a handful of cherry bombs. He was heavily influenced by rock and roll and when he was 15, started his first band, The Continentals, which also had Stephen Stills of Crosby, Stills & Nash fame. Around this time he also met Bernie Leadon, later one of the founding members of the Eagles. He and Bernie both attended Gainesville High School in Gainesville, Florida. Bernie replaced Stills and the band became the Maundy Quintet. An interesting note: in the 1966 Gainesville High School Yearbook the Maundy Quintet is pictured next to another Gainesville High student and his band that was destined for fame; Tom Petty and his early band the Epics. Felder gave Tom Petty guitar lessons for a year and a half at a local music shop, and also learned how to play slide guitar from Duane Allman.
It's Saturday night again
Everybody's out on the street
You're feelin' so good, my friend
You're in love with every woman you see
So come on, the night is young
Find a little someone to do
Alright, this is the night
Let out a roar, it'll be good for you
Oh, brother
You tell me it's over
You say that your love's in danger
Oh, brother
I know you don't love her
You know what your mama would say
She'd say
"Boy, never surrender
I know that it's tough, but
My boy, never surrender
Hold out for love"
It's hard when you want somebody
And it feels like anybody will do
It's easy to soon forget
What you need and what's the right thing for you
You hold on for so long
Suddenly you've waited enough
Now you said, she's all you really need
So wait to decide that you don't really love her
Oh, brother
I hear you've discovered
It's time that you're settling down
Oh, brother
But I can't help but wonder
Just what will you settle down from?
Boy, never surrender
I know that it's tough, but
My boy, never surrender
Hold out for love
Boy, never surrender
Sometimes it's rough, but
My boy, never surrender
Hold out for love
Never surrender
Never surrender
Start it on up hey let's cruise a while
Leave Your troubles far behind
You can hedge your bet on a clean corvette
To get you there right on time
Now if you're ready to dive into overdrive
Baby the green lights are on
It's like you're runnin away on some high octane
Every time she reaches for the goal
Won't you take a ride, ride, ride, ride
On heavy metal
It's the only way that you can travel
Down that road
Satisfied, 'fied, 'fied, 'fied
On heavy metal
Baby won't you ride
Ride it until it explodes
Heavy Metal
My oh my how this lady can fly
Once she starts rollin' beneath you
You know you just can't lose the way she moves
You wait for her to finally release you
It's not a big surprise to feel your temperature rise
You've gotta touch of redline fever
'Cause there is just one cure that they know for sure
You just become a heavy metal believer
Won't you take a ride, ride, ride, ride
On heavy metal
It's the only way that you can travel
Down that road
Satisfied, 'fied, 'fied, 'fied
On heavy metal
Baby won't you ride
Ride it until it explodes
Heavy Metal

You must be a lost angel, dressed to your silk legs
Born somewhere between heaven, hell
I don't know what place
Yes, I can tell that you've cast your spell,
The way you hold me, somehow
If this is sin, Baby count me in, I can't turn back now
I've got to have all of you,
Little Darlin'
All of your lovin', all of your huggin', all of your kisses too
I've got to have all of you
Every day, in every way now, no one else will do
Now, I've been told that it's ages old,
Goes back to Adam and Eve
Yes I know how the story goes,
When a woman begins to deceive
Now here you stand, before my naked eyes,
My heart is pounding so
If I should die darlin' in your arms,
What a lovely way to go
I've got to have all of you,
Little Darlin'
All of your lovin', all of your huggin', all of your kisses too
I've got to have all of you
Every day, in every way, now, no one else will do
You must be a lost angel, dressed to your silk legs
Born somewhere between heaven, hell
I don't know what place
Yes, I can tell that you've cast your spell,
The way you hold me, somehow
If this is sin, Baby count me in, I can't turn back now
I've got to have all of you,

All of your lovin', all of your huggin', all of your kisses too
I've got to have all of you
Every day, in every way now, no one else will do
Now, I've been told that it's ages old,
Goes back to Adam and Eve

What a lovely way to go
I've got to have all of you,
Little Darlin'
All of your lovin', all of your huggin', all of your kisses too
I've got to have all of you
On a dark desert highway
cold wind in my hair
warm smell of colitas
rising up through the air
up ahead in the distance
I saw a shimmering light
My heart grew heavy and my sight grew dim
I had to stop for the night
There she stood in the doorway
I heard the mission bell
And I was thinkin`to myself:
"This could be heaven or this could be Hell"
then she lit up a candle
and she showed me the way
there were voices down the corridor
I thought I heard them say:
Welcome to the Hotel California
such a lovely place (such a lovely place)
such a lovely face
plenty of room at the Hotel California
any time of year (any time of year)
you can find it here
her mind is Tiffany-twisted
She got the Mercedes Benz
she got a lot of pretty pretty boys
that she calls friends
how they dance in the courtyard
sweet summer sweet
some dance to remember
some dance to forget
so I called up the Captain
"Please bring me my wine"
he said
"we haven't had that spirit here since 1969"
And still those voices are calling from far away
wake you up in the middle of the night
just to hear them say:
welcome to the Hotel California
such a lovely place
such a lovely face
they livin`it up at the Hotel California
what a nice surprise
bring your alibis
