Why does vegetation size decrease with altitude?
This video is about Altitudinal Zonation in the Tongariro National Park in New Zealand. It explains how the interactions between relief, climate, soils and vegetation effects vegetation type, height and density at different altitudes. Tongariro National Park is an example of an alpine biome.

Rivers & Streams - Realistic Scenery Vol.8
A water scene can dramatically change the look of an already fantastic model and make it look even better! In this easy to follow tutorial I’ll step you through modeling with water from a plain piece of foam board right up to an amazing looking river scene!
This model river is made in HO scale however as with most of the tutorials I do the techniques can be applied to not only HO scale but N scale and lager scales as well. The technique I use can be applied for a slow flowing river or stream modeling a lake, modeling rapids and modeling a waterfall as well.
I use EnviroTex Lite to model this diorama however most two part epoxies will work just as well and you can also use Woodland Scenics Realistic Water which is an acrylic that is easy to use and easy to clean.
A lot of modelers will a...

Bikepacking Chile: The Way to the Moon (SEE THE WORLD 31)
This is Episode 31 of Bikepacking from Alaska to Argentina and around the world. Picks up right out of Santiago, Chile trying to follow The Greater Patagonia Trail. Probably a lot more walking than normal but at the same time, this has been one of the most amazing experiences. Reaching remote valleys where the Arrieros roam and run animals, where the condors fly so close to you that you could talk to them and where the volcanoes have shaped some of the most challenging and impressive mountains, valleys and lunar landscapes. #bikepacking #chile #aroundtheworldbybike

A lot of modelers will avoid adding a water scene to their model railroad layout or war gaming terrain because in the past a lot of others have had bad experiences using the various water products however… with some careful planning and proper preparation you should have no problems working with these products.
The technique I use for this diorama can be applied in many different scenarios from modelling a dam to modelling white water rapids and they will all look absolutely amazing. When it comes to adding ripples be sure to only apply a thin layer of Mod Podge, if the mod podge layer is too thick it will become cloudy on humid days as it absorbs the moisture out of the air, the Woodland Scenics Water Effects also has the same problem when applied very thick.
I hope you are enjoying the tutorials, I spend many hours (when I’m not working my day job) filming and editing these tutorials in order to upload them to YouTube. Here are some stats for this video:
Total amount of footage filmed – 12 hours 20 minutes and 14 seconds
Total file size of filmed footage – 104 gig
Total time spent building the diorama – Over 40 hours
Number of photos taken during final photo shoot – 94 (A lot less than usual because it started to rain)
Time spent editing – 22 hours
Approximate cost of diorama - $105.00 (The vehicle was the most expensive at $50 because I had to order it from Europe and pay a large postage fee)
If you’d like to support this channel to help keep the videos coming feel free to check out my Patreon Page where I have a few different perks and rewards for those that support me:

Last Sunday, on April 7, 2013, we saw some fine weather here in Toronto and it was the perfect backdrop for our first ever Brew Benefit! Over 140 eager beer lovers descended upon the Esplanade and Front St area to explore local Ontario craft beers and sample some fabulous pairings at six hot spots in the area! A portion of the proceeds was in aid of The Stop Community Food Centre. The Stop works to increase access to healthy food for low-income people in the city's west end. They do so in variety of ways, including but not limited to, their drop-in meal program, food bank, community cooking and gardening programs.
Amsterdam Bicycle Club was the meeting hub where beer lovers were greeted with a map and drink tickets and to ensure their energy levels were high, they received some KIND Snacks as well. The delicious fruit and nut bars (especially the ones with chocolate) were gobbled up or stored away in back pockets for sustenance at a later hour. Armed with their treasures groups of old friends and new acquaintances set off to explore the area on a self guided beer crawl.
It's hard to say which route many took but at the end of the day, most were able to hit up all 6 spots in the span of three hours...or so we've heard! Some decided to enjoy the sunshine and laze around on the patios for a bit too long and then were busy playing catch up to ensure they got a sampling of each of the 12 fantastic brews on feature! We heard that many guests really enjoyed the $5 dishes on offer at certain spots!
Amsterdam Bicycle Club featured Amsterdam Brewery's Big Wheel and Boneshaker
along side some Popcorn shrimp and Nachos.
Scotland Yard featured Mill Street Brewery's Tank House Ale and Vanilla Porter which paired well with the Quebec style poutine and Scotland Yard's famous nachos
Great Burger Kitchen featured Beaus All Natural Brewing Company's Lug•Tread Lagered Ale and Beaver•River I.P.Eh. and ofcourse their famous beer braised chicken poutine.
Bier Markt featured Spearhead Brewing Company's Hawaiian Style Pale Ale and Belgian Stout alongside their Slow smoked BierBQ brisket. Fans were in for a treat because Dimitri van Kampen, President and Founder of the Spearhead Brewing Company was greeting Brew Benefit participants and sharing some secrets!
Berber Social featured Great Lakes Brewery's Crazy Canuck Pale Ale and Orange Peel Ale and there was no shortage of food choices here!
Featured dishes included the Fingerling potato chips, Mac n cheese and Fish taco. This was a popular spot at the end of the Brew Benefit! This is Episode 31 of Bikepacking from
Alaska to Argentina and around the world.

Victor from Dorel Sports chile for hooking me up with a set of new Maxxis 4.8 tires and the guys at the guys at Intercycles Santiago for helping me set up tubeless
not to mention all the nice people i have met on the way!
MUSIC (contentID/youtube, they just play ads on my video)
many of these songs are long and recent favorites, some backstory on them too! (in brackets)
00:00:35 Lights and Motion - Perfect Symetry
00:04:50 Inti Illimani - La Exiliiada De Sur
00:10:50 Mandolin Orange - Hey Stranger
00:15:40 Johnny Cash - Ain't no grave (Matt's favorite Johnny Cash song)
00:20:30 Alexi Murdoch - Breathe (someone suggested him via instagram, i had this somewhere on my phone)
00:25:50 Gregory Alan Isakov (&Colorado; Symphony) - The Stable Song (loved it from the moment I heard it on Ride The Divide, add the Symphony and its like WOOOW... )
00:32:20 Inti Illimani - La Partida
00:41:40 The Pines - All The While (one of Sylvain's songs he played while we biked in the middle of nowhere, EP30.)
00:46:30 Lynyrd Skynyrd - Simple Man (really had this stuck in my head for a long time, absolutely accidental I got it at the right spot, I didnt see how well (or maybe not too well) it fit until after)
00:52:40 Apocalyptica - Nothing Else Matters (warmshowers host from 2013 biking toronto to halifax recommended Apocalyptica!)
00:57:40 David Bowie - Space Oddity (from Carol and Bob, tandem cycling across USA!)
NOTES:
*Jorge and Luis I also asked for being on youtube and they were ok, probably should have included that, it was a funny segment... They were telling me to get 7 dried trouts from their camp but i took one.
*Diego is the guy riding a horse at the camp, he was actually a hiker (the bosses only fly in with helicopter). Digeo on the other hand is likely the first man on Mars now with the horse with gasses...
*Finding 6 gps codes and adding them to find the password is not the only way to get the Greater Patagonia Trail, the creator also gives you the password if you sign a document and scan it to him.
*Not a lot of distance covered in this video, likely the shortest of a SEE THE WORLD episode (a rough estimate: 400ish KM)
*The Mavic Air gimbal seems to work if I blow on it (maybe its dust) but cleaning with compressed air didnt work and sometimes i still need to land it few times per shoot session to fix that.
*As how things worked out, i passed the hotspring where the sick dog was a month later, he wasnt there so he likely survived and walked out... or the condors got him
*the short section leading to the final pass although only short airtime was a gruelling 6 hour walk in the sand up and down with stops every 15-20 minutes to get the rocks out of my shoes.

- A High Altitude Travel Diary -
Directed by Jérôme Tanon.
Starring : Thomas Delfino, Léo Taillefer, Zak Mills, Yannick Graziani, Hélias Millerioux, Jérôme Tanon.
The intimate travel diary of an incredible Freeride expedition into the heart of the Karakoram range. The search for one of the most beautiful mountains to ski on the planet, standing at 5880m. An adventure so remote, so high, so committed that no mistakes were allowed. During five weeks, the crew pushed deeper and deeper inside Pakistan, with a 150 km loop in complete autonomy, pulling sleds filled with food, tents and solar panels across gigantic glaciers. As far from home as one can get. A meeting point of Freeriding and Mountaineering. A true adventure.
