To get money for a car, a student steals a dangerous force field generator.

Isis "The Sound of Silence" September 27, 1975 Andrea has developed a force field generator called the Circlegard. It's just what a disgruntled student needs to get himself a new car. Can Andrea save Bill from the dangerous turn he's taking by aligning with a local mobster? Will she be in time to also save him from the radiation that is leaking from the Circlegard? The Secrets of Isis takes a turn toward the more technical with this episode. It's a story dealing with the usual misguided teenagers and the men who manipulate them, but it also has the element of the force field generator and the dangers of radiation. John and Richard discuss how this new element propells the show forward in terms of story telling opportunities. They also wonder how a project like the Circlegard could be developed in a high school with the dangers of radiation involved.

Sound of...
Sound of... is an annual BBC poll of music critics and industry figures to find the most promising new music talent. It was first conducted by the BBC News website in 2003, and is now widely covered by the corporation's online, radio and TV outlets, as well as other media. A 15-strong longlist is published each December, with a ranked shortlist and annual winner announced the following January.

Sound of 2009
More than 130 critics, editors and broadcasters took part in the Sound of 2009 survey, which was won by electro-pop singer Little Boots. For the first time, a longlist of 15 acts from the 2009 poll was published by the BBC on 5 December 2008. The other five acts on the longlist were The Big Pink, Frankmusik, Master Shortie, Mumford & Sons and The Temper Trap.
Sound of 2010
The longlist for the Sound of 2010 poll was revealed on 7 December 2009. The acts nominated were Daisy Dares You, Delphic, Devlin, The Drums, Everything Everything, Giggs, Gold Panda, Ellie Goulding, Hurts, Joy Orbison, Marina and the Diamonds, Owl City, Rox, Stornoway and Two Door Cinema Club. On 8 January 2010, Ellie Goulding was announced as the winner. She has since gone to reach No. 1 with her debut album Lights.

The Sound of Silence
"The Sound of Silence" is a song by the American music duo Simon & Garfunkel. The song was written by Paul Simon over the period of several months between 1963–64. A studio audition led to the duo signing a record deal with Columbia Records, and the song was recorded in March 1964 at Columbia Studios in New York City for inclusion on their debut studio album, Wednesday Morning, 3 A.M..
Released in October 1964, the album was a commercial failure and led to the duo breaking apart, with Paul Simon returning to England and Art Garfunkel to his studies at Columbia University. In spring 1965, the song began to attract airplay at radio stations in Boston, Massachusetts and throughout Florida. The growing airplay led Tom Wilson, the song's producer, to remix the track, overdubbing electric instrumentation with the same musicians who backed Bob Dylan's "Like a Rolling Stone". Simon & Garfunkel were not informed of the song's remix until after its release. The single was released in September 1965.

Sounds of Silence
Sounds of Silence is the second studio album by Simon & Garfunkel, released on January 17, 1966. The album's title is a slight modification of the title of the duo's first major hit, "The Sound of Silence", which originally was released as "The Sounds of Silence". The song had earlier been released in an acoustic version on the album Wednesday Morning, 3 A.M., and later on the soundtrack to the movie The Graduate. Without the knowledge of Paul Simon or Art Garfunkel, electric guitars, bass and drums were overdubbed by Columbia Records staff producer Tom Wilson on June 15, 1965. This new version was released as a single in September 1965, and opens the album.
"Homeward Bound" was released on the album in the UK, placed at the beginning of Side 2 before "Richard Cory". It was also released as part of the box set Simon & Garfunkel Collected Works, on both LP and CD. Many of the songs in the album had been written by Paul Simon while he lived in London during 1965.
"I Am a Rock", "Leaves That Are Green", "April Come She Will", "A Most Peculiar Man", and "Kathy's Song" had appeared on The Paul Simon Songbook, released in August 1965 in England as had another version of the title track. "Richard Cory" was based on a poem by Edwin Arlington Robinson, "Somewhere They Can't Find Me" was essentially a rewrite of the previous album's "Wednesday Morning, 3 A.M." and "Anji" was an instrumental piece that Simon had picked up, presumably in London, from guitarist Davey Graham. Hence the only brand new Paul Simon compositions on the album were "Blessed" and "We've Got a Groovy Thing Goin'".

Isis "The Sound of Silence" September 27, 1975 Andrea has developed a force field generator called the Circlegard. It's just what a disgruntled student needs to get himself a new car. Can Andrea save Bill from the dangerous turn he's taking by aligning with a local mobster? Will she be in time to also save him from the radiation that is leaking from the Circlegard? The Secrets of Isis takes a turn toward the more technical with this episode. It's a story dealing with the usual misguided teenagers and the men who manipulate them, but it also has the element of the force field generator and the dangers of radiation. John and Richard discuss how this new element propells the show forward in terms of story telling opportunities...

This one is a very very rare album that I dug up. Barely anybody has heard of Ora - a band from the UK in the late 1960s. It's a bit progressive yet sticking to shorter brit-pop track times. Nevertheless, it sounds great and this one is a classic. You can hear the prog rock and psychedelic influences in it. Isis "The Sound of Silence" September 27, 1975 Andrea has developed a force field generator called the Circlegard. It's just what a disgruntled student needs to get himself a new car. Can Andrea save Bill from the dangerous turn he's taking by aligning with a local mobster? Will she be in time to also save him from the radiation that is leaking from the Circlegard? The Secrets of Isis takes a turn toward the more technical with this episode. It's a story dealing with the usual misguided teenagers and the men who manipulate them, but it also has the element of the force field generator and the dangers of radiation. John and Richard discuss how this new element propells the show forward in terms of story telling opportunities. They also wonder how a project like the Circlegard could be developed in a high school with the dangers of radiation involved.

مجید درخشانی متولد ۱۳۳۵ در سنگسر سمنان است. فراگیری موسیقی را از دوران نوجوانی آغاز کرد و با قبولی در رشته موسیقی دانشکده هنرهای زیبای دانشگاه تهران به جمع کسان...
مجید درخشانی متولد ۱۳۳۵ در سنگسر سمنان است. فراگیری موسیقی را از دوران نوجوانی آغاز کرد و با قبولی در رشته موسیقی دانشکده هنرهای زیبای دانشگاه تهران به جمع کسانی پیوست که موسیقی را به شکلی جدی پی گرفتند. او همزمان با تحصیل در دانشگاه به فراگیری موسیقی نزد استاد محمدرضا لطفی در دانشگاه و خارج از آن در قالب آموختن ردیف (تار و سه تار) پرداخت. در سال ۱۳۵۵ به عضویت گروه شیدا در آمد و در خلق مجموعه آلبومهای چاووش مشارکت داشت و عضو مؤسس کانون چاووش هم شد. انتشار آلبومهای «بچهها بهار» (با حسین علیزاده) و آلبوم «قاصدک» (با صدای مرحوم اخوان ثالث) از تلاشهای مستقل درخشانی در دهه شصت بود. پس از آن به آلمان عزیمت کرد و در آن کشور به مدت ۲۰ سال اقامت کرد و در راهاندازی کانون موسیقی نوا و برقراری کنسرتها و سمینارهای سالانه مرتبط با موسیقی ایرانی و انتشار آلبومهایی چون «نسیم صبحدم»، «گمگشته»، «نیریز» و... در این کشور تلاشهایی جدی صرف کرد. اوج کار درخشانی همکاری با محمدرضا شجریان در انتشار آلبوم «در خیال» بود که همزمان با آن آلبوم «بی کران» را هم به بازار موسیقی عرضه کرد. وی در اوایل دهه ۸۰ آلبومهایی چون «من طربم» و «بیدار دلان» را در ایران منتشر کرد. تشکیل گروه ۳۰ نفره خورشید در سال ۱۳۸۴ و برگزاری ۱۵ کنسرت در تهران و شهرستانها در کنار اجراهایی در کشورهای چین و فرانسه از دیگر تلاشهای مجید درخشانی در سالهای گذشته است. انتشارآلبوم فصل باران با صدای علیرضا قربانی در بهار ۱۳۸۵ و همکاری با گروه «آوا» و اجرای کنسرت در یونسکو و نیز تالار بزرگ کشور و همزمان انتشار آلبوم «غوغای عشقبازان» به عنوان نوازنده تار از دیگر آثار ارزشمند مجید درخشانی در سالهای اخیر به شمار میرود. استاد درخشانی در تابستان ۱۳۸۶ نیز به همراه گروه خود و نیز دو گروه از تاجیکستان و افغانستان در یونسکو به مناسبت هشتصدمین سال تولد مولانا کنسرتهایی را در پاریس اجرا کرد. جشنواره تیرگان ۲۰۱۷ افتخار دارد تا در همراهی با گروه «عندلیب»، از حضور استاد درخشانی در جشنواره امسال بهره بگیرد.

نام این برنامه «نواهای ایران» با هدف بازنمایی همبستگی فرهنگی میان جوامع متکثر ایرانی و نمایش ارزشهای موسیقی ایران انتخاب شده است. آهنگهای کردی و گیلکی که در این برنامه اجرا میشوند حاصل کار تحقیقی شاهو عندلیبی در زمینه موسیقیهای محلی ایران است و بر اساس تجربههای ارزنده او در این زمینه تنظیم شدهاند. اجرای گروه عندلیب به سرپرستی شاهو عندلیبی در دو قسمت به روی صحنه میرود:

مجید درخشانی متولد ۱۳۳۵ در سنگسر سمنان است. فراگیری موسیقی را از دوران نوجوانی آغاز کرد و با قبولی در رشته موسیقی دانشکده هنرهای زیبای دانشگاه تهران به جمع کسانی پیوست که موسیقی را به شکلی جدی پی گرفتند. او همزمان با تحصیل در دانشگاه به فراگیری موسیقی نزد استاد محمدرضا لطفی در دانشگاه و خارج از آن در قالب آموختن ردیف (تار و سه تار) پرداخت. در سال ۱۳۵۵ به عضویت گروه شیدا در آمد و در خلق مجموعه آلبومهای چاووش مشارکت داشت و عضو مؤسس کانون چاووش هم شد. انتشار آلبومهای «بچهها بهار» (با حسین علیزاده) و آلبوم «قاصدک» (با صدای مرحوم اخوان ثالث) از تلاشهای مستقل درخشانی در دهه شصت بود. پس از آن به آلمان عزیمت کرد و در آن کشور به مدت ۲۰ سال اقامت کرد و در راهاندازی کانون موسیقی نوا و برقراری کنسرتها و سمینارهای سالانه مرتبط با موسیقی ایرانی و انتشار آلبومهایی چون «نسیم صبحدم»، «گمگشته»، «نیریز» و... در این کشور تلاشهایی جدی صرف کرد. اوج کار درخشانی همکاری با محمدرضا شجریان در انتشار آلبوم «در خیال» بود که همزمان با آن آلبوم «بی کران» را هم به بازار موسیقی عرضه کرد. وی در اوایل دهه ۸۰ آلبومهایی چون «من طربم» و «بیدار دلان» را در ایران منتشر کرد. تشکیل گروه ۳۰ نفره خورشید در سال ۱۳۸۴ و برگزاری ۱۵ کنسرت در تهران و شهرستانها در کنار اجراهایی در کشورهای چین و فرانسه از دیگر تلاشهای مجید درخشانی در سالهای گذشته است. انتشارآلبوم فصل باران با صدای علیرضا قربانی در بهار ۱۳۸۵ و همکاری با گروه «آوا» و اجرای کنسرت در یونسکو و نیز تالار بزرگ کشور و همزمان انتشار آلبوم «غوغای عشقبازان» به عنوان نوازنده تار از دیگر آثار ارزشمند مجید درخشانی در سالهای اخیر به شمار میرود. استاد درخشانی در تابستان ۱۳۸۶ نیز به همراه گروه خود و نیز دو گروه از تاجیکستان و افغانستان در یونسکو به مناسبت هشتصدمین سال تولد مولانا کنسرتهایی را در پاریس اجرا کرد. جشنواره تیرگان ۲۰۱۷ افتخار دارد تا در همراهی با گروه «عندلیب»، از حضور استاد درخشانی در جشنواره امسال بهره بگیرد.
Joining the Andalib Ensemble, the Tirgan stage is honored to present Maestro Majid Derakhshani. Derakhshani who hails from a family of musicians from the Semnan province is an acclaimed composer and musician. Having studied under the legendary Mohammad Rez a Lotfi, Maestro Derakhshani is a celebrated virtuoso of string instruments who showcases mystical melodies in his improvisations.

pg.lost have announced details of their upcoming album, titled „Versus“, which will be released this September via Pelagic Records. The Swedish four piece wrote a lot of the album separately, swapping ideas online, before coming together to record at their newly purchased recording studio.
The album title „Versus“ emerged out of a song idea, that consisted of two very different and contrasting ideas, which were never planned to be one song, but ended up complementing each other.
Versus doesn't necessarily describe a relationship between irreconcilable entities, the band explain.
Gustav Almberg comments: "It is possible that some things that on the surface seem totally different could be a perfect match. But mostly the album title is a reflection of today’s society that seems to get more and more polarised. Boundaries of what is okay to say and do are constantly moved towards something that feels dehumanising, and all the fucked up idiots crawl out of their caves all the way up to the top of the mountain."
Whilst some elements of the album will be familiar to pg.lost fans, there are some distinct differences to previous releases. The effect-saturated vocals, which were a trademark on previous pg.lost releases, have disappeared on „Versus“, and given way to more keys and synths. “Kristian was in the middle of heavy touring with Cult of Luna playing keys every day during that time, so he had a lot of synth-based ideas for songs. I guess this has helped us to take the band into a bit of a new direction sound wise“, comments Almberg.
Their sound is throbbing with great melancholy, but there is also an element of dirty rock n' roll thrown in, as demonstrated in the crushingly heavy closing section of monumental opening track „Ikaros“, in the distorted bass line kicking off the second track of the album, „Off The Beaten Path“, or in the huge roomy drum sound throughout the record.
Extensive touring is planned in support of „Versus“ - both in Europe and further afield, as pg.lost have developed a huge fan base in Asia.

This one is a very very rare album that I dug up. Barely anybody has heard of Ora - a band from the UK in the late 1960s. It's a bit progressive yet sticking to shorter brit-pop track times. Nevertheless, it sounds great and this one is a classic. You can hear the prog rock and psychedelic influences in it. There's barely any information about this band online but I found this piece of information below

"The key figure in this band seems to have been songwriter Jamie Rubenstein. Not many copies of their original album, which was effectively a collection of demos, were pressed almost inevitably ensuring its status as an ultra-rarity. It contained a number of pleasant sometimes whimsical, and even haunting songs plus a frenzied piece of psychedelia, Witch, that was untypical of their sound but now 25 years on is the main reason for its collectability. All the other cuts have female vocals with the best being Fly, which opens the 'B' side. This is based on a fast Take Five (Dave Brubeck) rhythm with electric guitar accompaniment and some good electric guitar leads. Are You Seeing has some electric guitar leads, too, towards the end. The other tracks are acoustic-based with gentle melodies. The Seagull and The Sailor, The Morning After The Night Before and Emma's Saga (especially the latter) have a Samba feel, with sparse guitar accompaniment and discreet percussion only. Overall this was a good album of beautiful songs.
The recent CD reissue includes seven bonus cuts which mostly consist of alternate versions of songs on the album. The accompanying booklet includes a band history which Jamie Rubenstein has contributed to.
The band later evolved into Byzantium. Mark Barakan is currently part of Bruce Springsteen's backing band under the name Shane Fontayne."
