Serious Fashion Watches: high fashion meets haute horology at Dior, Louis Vuitton and Chanel

In our new video, The Jewellery Editor takes a look at the latest ladies’ watches from three of the great couture houses, Chanel, Dior and Louis Vuitton, and highlights how hot-off-the catwalk trends are appearing in their watch collections. The catwalk has clearly been a major influence on the new Louis Vuitton watches for ladies, particularly the new Chevron models, which were created under the guidance of Vuitton’s creative director, Nicolas Ghesquière. The famous Monogram V featured heavily in Ghesquière's Summer 2015 ready-to-wear catwalk collection and this pattern has been replicated on red and black watch dials, framed by scintillating diamonds. The trend for diamond watches continues at Chanel with the latest incarnations of the Première Flying Tourbillon, which pays tribute the life of the legendary Coco Chanel. Available in Chanel’s very own beige gold, set with brilliant-cut diamonds, and a black ceramic model with vivid blue baguette-cut sapphires, the flying tourbillon movement on these new Chanel watches is decorated with a small camellia, Mademoiselle Chanel’s favourite flower. The house of Dior has looked to the past for inspiration for its new collection of Dior watches for women, which pay tribute to Monsieur Dior’s 1948 Spring-Summer collection and Envol line of couture clothing. The VIII Grand Bal Envol collection of Dior watches, offered in a myriad of bright colours, are set with diamonds, tsavorites, ink spinels and, most impressively, the fiery wings of a scarab beetle.
