25 August 2015 was a big day for Statkraft in Turkey. 700 people were present for the official opening of Kargi hydropower plant in the Corum province, northeast of the Turkish capital Ankara. The event also marked the 120th anniversary of Statkraft.
Alacahöyük or Alaca Höyük is the site of a Neolithic and Hittite settlement and is an important archaeological site. It is situated in Alaca, Çorum Province, northeast of Boğazkale (formerly and more familiarly Boğazköy), where the ancient capital city Hattusa of the Hittite Empire was situated. Its Hittite name is unknown: connections with Arinna, Tawiniya, and Zippalanda have all been suggested.

Khinkali, hıngel (Gürcüce:ხინკალი, Azerice:xıngal, Türkçe:Hıngel/Hengel, Dağıstan:Hinkal), hamur arasına et veya patates konularak yapılan bir yemektir. Sivas, Doğu Karadeniz, Erzurum, Kars, Dağıstan başta olmak üzere Kafkasya'nın hemen her yerinde benzer ad ile bilinen ve yapılan bir mantıdır.
Ayrıca Türkiye'de iç harçsız, sadece hamur olarak da pişirilir. Hamur merdane ve oklava yardımıyla açılır. Açılan büyük hamur, oklavaya sarılır. Sarıldığı yerin ortasından uzunlamasına kesilir ve oklava kaldırılır. Bütün hamur, uzun uzun kesilmiş ve üst üste konulmuş, hizalanmış olur. Daha sonra o hamur enlemesine kare olacak şekilde kesilir. Pişirilirken yapışmamaları için birbirlerinden ayrılır. İsteğe göre biraz kurutulur ya da kurutulmadan kaynar suya atılır. Pişirilirken birbirlerine yapışmamalarına özen gösterilir. Yumuşayana kadar pişirilir. Sarımsaklı yoğurt ve yağda kavrulmuş kırmızı biber ve salça ile servis yapılır.
Türkiye'de ise Çorum iline bağlı Alaca ilçesinde muhacir ve Tatarlar tarafından yapılır.
Khinkal of hıngel (Georgian: ხინკალი, Azerbaijani: xıngal, Turkish: hıngel / Hengel, Dagestan: Hinkali) is a dish made by placing the dough between meat or potatoes. A 14-year-old high school student, identified only by the initials F.E., has reportedly attempted to abduct at gunpoint a female student who he had a crush on in the northern Turkish province of Çorum. However, after he failed to convince the girl to come with him, he instead took two other male students hostage.
F.E. reportedly went to the Çorum Anatolian High School with a gun in his hand and attempted to abduct the girl in the middle of a class. When the girl and her classmates resisted, F.E. pointed his gun at two other male students in the same classroom and took them hostage instead. He then left the scene in a car with his two hostages.
After the school administration reported the incident to the police, F.E.’s car was found on the Çorum-Amasya highway and the three students were taken to the Çorum Police Department’s Juvenile Branch Office to give their testimonies.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident.

More civil servants who are seeking to run for a parliamentary seat submitted their resignations on Feb. 10, ahead of the deadline on the same day for civil servants to resign in order to be nominated as candidates for the June 7 parliamentary elections.
Two members of the board of the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK), Abdullah Tancan and Fazıl Şenel, have resigned reportedly to become candidates for the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP). EPDK head Mustafa Yılmaz, whose resignation was speculated on according to earlier reports, is said to have opted to remain in his seat.
Galatasaray University Rector Ethem Tolga has resigned to run for the AKP, as well as Kayseri Mayor Mehmet Özhaseki.
A chief adviser to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Mustafa İsen, who previously worked as the secretary-general of the presidency when Abdullah Gül was in office, joined the senior civil servants who submitted their resignations, along with Bilal Çetin, a press adviser to Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu.
Youth and Sports Ministry Deputy Undersecretary Kamuran Özden is set to become a parliamentary candidate for the AKP in the Black Sea province of Samsun, while General Directorate of Credit and Dormitories General Manager Recep Kaymakcan has also resigned to be a candidate from the Çorum province.
Turkish State Railways General Manager Süleyman Karaman, Transportation Ministry deputy undersecretary Türker Yörükçüoğlu, Sports directorate head Mehmet Baykan, Police chief of Muğla province Veysal Tipioğlu, Customs Directorate head Cenap Aşcı, Customs and Trade chief inspector Ali Aygün and Customs and Trade Minister’s deputy Fatih Metin also submitted their resignations.

Çorum Province (Turkish: Çorum ili) is a province in the Black Sea Region of Turkey, but lying inland and having more characteristics of Central Anatolia than the Black Sea coast.
With important archaeological sites going back 5,000 years and a unique natural beauty, Çorum is attractive to visitors.
The province of Çorum is a mixture of mountains and high plateaus, some of it watered by the Kızılırmak and Yeşilırmak rivers. The province includes much attractive high meadow and mountain for walking and excursions from the city and towns.
Excavations reveal that Çorum area was inhabited during the Paleolithic, Neolithic period and the 4th stage of the Calcolithic Age. Remains of these periods have been found at Büyük Güllüce, Eskiyapar and Kuşsaray.
In later times Çorum and its environs were dominated by Hittites and in the district of Boğazkale is one of the most important Hittite sites in Anatolia, the UNESCO World Heritage listed Hattusa, the capital of the Hittite Empire from 1700 BC to 1200 BC. Other important Hittite site include the open-air temples at Yazılıkaya and Alacahöyük; royal tombs; and the excavations of Boğazköy including tablets proving tradings links between the Hittites and the Ancient Egyptians.

Çorum (Turkish pronunciation: [ˈtʃoɾum]) is a landlocked northern Anatolian city that is the capital of the Çorum Province of Turkey. Çorum is located inland in the central Black Sea Region of Turkey, and is approximately 244 km (152 mi) from Ankara and 608 km (378 mi) from Istanbul. The city has an elevation of 801 m (2,628 ft) above sea level, a surface area of 12,820 km² (4950 mi²), and as of the 2009 census, a population of 218,130.
Çorum is primarily known for its Phrygian and Hittite archaeological sites, its thermal springs, and its native dried chick-pea snacks known nationally as leblebi.
The history of the area around the present-day city is known to go as far back as the Paleolithic ages, with small settlements and tools from the era variously having been excavated over the past century.
The town also seems to have been an Assyrian trading post acting as a connection between Anatolia and Mesopotamia between 1950-1850 BC.
The city and surrounding area rose to prominence with the emergence of the Hittite Empire between 1650-1200 BC, under the patronage of which the arts and local economy significantly developed and prospered. Hattusa, the capital of Hittite Empire, was located in the region owing to its inherent geographic protection, and the well-established local economy as supported by the regional Karum system.

Sivas, Doğu Karadeniz, Erzurum, Kars, Dağıstan başta olmak üzere Kafkasya'nın hemen her yerinde benzer ad ile bilinen ve yapılan bir mantıdır.
Ayrıca Türkiye'de iç harçsız, sadece hamur olarak da pişirilir. Hamur merdane ve oklava yardımıyla açılır. Açılan büyük hamur, oklavaya sarılır. Sarıldığı yerin ortasından uzunlamasına kesilir ve oklava kaldırılır. Bütün hamur, uzun uzun kesilmiş ve üst üste konulmuş, hizalanmış olur. Daha sonra o hamur enlemesine kare olacak şekilde kesilir. Pişirilirken yapışmamaları için birbirlerinden ayrılır. İsteğe göre biraz kurutulur ya da kurutulmadan kaynar suya atılır. Pişirilirken birbirlerine yapışmamalarına özen gösterilir. When the girl and her classmates resisted, F.E. pointed his gun at two other male students in the same classroom and took them hostage instead. He then left the scene in a car with his two hostages.
After the school administration reported the incident to the police, F.E.’s car was found on the Çorum-Amasya highway and the three students were taken to the Çorum Police Department’s Juvenile Branch Office to give their testimonies.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident.

The municipality in the Black Sea province of Çorum has opened a tender for the construction of a shopping mall and 1,500 homes on a 55,000-square-meter area, where a stadium and sports halls are currently located.
The land where the construction will take place currently includes the Dr. Turhan Kılıçcıoğlu Stadium, a wrestling training center, a tennis court, an indoor sports facility, synthetic pitches and basketball hoops, as well as much green space.
The Çorum municipality, whose mayor was elected on the Justice and Development Party (AKP) ticket in local elections earlier this year, plans to build a new stadium on the same road where the current stadium is located, but it is not known whether new sports halls will accompany the stadium.
The Ahlatçı Automotive and Construction company, the only company in the tender, secured the deal by offering 43 percent of sales revenue to the Çorum municipality. The municipality had previously stated that it would not accept any deal under 42 percent of the sales revenue.
However, a member of the Çorum Municipal Council from the Republican People’s Party (CHP), Mehmet Tahtasız, said they were against turning the green space into a housing zone.
“This place is an area where people have been doing sports for years. Now, 1,500 houses will be constructed there. This means that approximately 4,500 people will live there. If we think there will be around 4,500 vehicles, this means there will be a need for a parking lot of 30,000 square meters,” Tahtasız said.

The municipality in the Black Sea province of Çorum has opened a tender for the construction of a shopping mall and 1,500 homes on a 55,000-square-meter area, where a stadium and sports halls are currently located.
The land where the construction will take place currently includes the Dr. Turhan Kılıçcıoğlu Stadium, a wrestling training center, a tennis court, an indoor sports facility, synthetic pitches and basketball hoops, as well as much green space.
The Çorum municipality, whose mayor was elected on the Justice and Development Party (AKP) ticket in local elections earlier this year, plans to build a new stadium on the same road where the current stadium is located, but it is not known whether new sports halls will accompany the stadium.
The Ahlatçı Automotive and Construction company, the only company in the tender, secured the deal by offering 43 percent of sales revenue to the Çorum municipality. The municipality had previously stated that it would not accept any deal under 42 percent of the sales revenue.
However, a member of the Çorum Municipal Council from the Republican People’s Party (CHP), Mehmet Tahtasız, said they were against turning the green space into a housing zone.
“This place is an area where people have been doing sports for years. Now, 1,500 houses will be constructed there. This means that approximately 4,500 people will live there. If we think there will be around 4,500 vehicles, this means there will be a need for a parking lot of 30,000 square meters,” Tahtasız said.

Turkey on Tuesday raced to contain an outbreak of bird flu and reassure the world it had the potentially fatal illness under control, after preliminary tests showed at least 15 people - two of them children who died - were infected with the deadly H5N1 strain.
Five cases were confirmed by the Ministry of Health on Monday.
They were located in Kastamonu, Corum, and Samsun provinces, bordering the Black Sea, in the north central part of Turkey, and from Van province.

The two leaders of the opposition parties continued their rallies on May 13, during which they slammed the government’s policies on both local and national issues.
Main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) head Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu said in the southern province of Mersin that the current government’s policies were trying to diminish local Turkish brands by uncontrolled imports, using the Anamur banana, which is famous for its small and aromatic structure, as an example.
“One of the brands is the Anamur banana. They try to limit this from time to time by uncontrolled imports. I am sure of this. We have bananas that are aromatic and delicious. It is our binding duty that they produce and earn more,” Kılıçdaroğlu said.
Meanwhile, during his party’s election rally in the Black Sea province of Çorum, Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) head Devlet Bahçeli slammed the decision by Turkey’s top judicial body to dismiss four prosecutors and one judge from their professions for being involved in the country’s biggest corruption case.
“President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has long been eyeing the presidency position to guarantee the fate of his family as well as himself. Police forces have been rotated and judges and prosecutors have been dismissed from their professions to whitewash all those involved in the 17, 25 December [2013] graft probes. Some policemen have also been imprisoned by bribers. All that has happened is nothing but misled justice,” said Bahçeli.
The dismissal of four prosecutors and one judge from their professions by the Supreme Board of Judges and Prosecutors (HSYK) sent shockwaves throughout the country on May 12.
Prosecutors Zekeriya Öz, Muammer Akkaş, Celal Kara and Mehmet Yüzgeç and former judge Süleyman Karaçöl were all dismissed from their profession due to their roles in the corruption investigations launched on Dec. 17, and Dec. 25, 2013, which targeted four former ministers and three of those ministers’ sons.

At least 10 police officers were detained across Turkey as a part of the illegal wiretapping operation into the “parallel state,” while arrest warrants were issued for 35 officers.
Security forces launched the operation, based in the Central Anatolian province of Sivas, at around 11 a.m. on March 13.
The operation was conducted in 18 different provinces including Ankara, Eskişehir, Ordu, Çorum and Sivas. While some of the police officers were detained on duty, others were taken from their houses.
Two police officers, including the former head of the Sivas police intelligence branch, identified by the initials F. A., were detained in Sivas.
All officers targeted in the operation had formerly worked in Sivas before being moved to their current stations.
The Turkish government has accused followers of U.S.-based Islamic scholar Fethullah Gülen of engaging in illegal wiretapping and alleged that the network, dubbed as the “parallel state” by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, attempted to infiltrate the Turkish state.
Erdoğan repeatedly has denounced the December 2013 graft probes as a “dirty plot” to overthrow the government. Turkey faced its biggest ever corruption case in Dec. 17 and 25, 2013 when probes were launched including four former ministers and their sons.
According to a special team working on the Telecommunications Directorate (TİB) recordings, Erdoğan was wiretapped between Dec. 17 and 20, 2013, and once more six days later, at the height of the graft probe, a total of 55 times. Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu was eavesdropped on 26 times while Hakan Fidan, the head of National Intelligence Organization (MİT), was eavesdropped on 28 times.

Corum launched the first-ever Ti-Bridge model in 2009 and followed up with the even more audacious Ti-Bridge Tourbillon in 2010. More than a tourbillon grafted to the in-house Ti-Bridge movement, the manufacture caliber CO 22 bypassed the more common tourbillon for a flying tourbillon mechanism. The flying tourbillon is an early 20th century innovation that omits the bridge structure on the visible side of the tourbillon carriage. It's more difficult to execute and more spectacular to behold.
Corum's Ti-Bridge case offers a spacious gallery in which to exhibit the main attraction. With its gossamer baguette bridge, skeletonized strut bars, and linear drive train, the CO-22 is an open book that enables close reading with a loupe, looking glass, or even the naked eye. Like its Golden Bridge forebear, the Ti-Bridge is a linear showcase for the individual components that comprise the mechanical essence of a Swiss-lever movement.

Twin mainspring barrels flank the movement and provide a three-day (72-hour) power reserve. Corum's mechanical ballet whirls across a stage bounded by an aggressive and ergonomically-inspired titanium shell. While the original Golden Bridge was a slight prism that resembled a frail crystalline shell, the Ti-Bridge thrusts across the wrist with the assertive stance of a Richard Mille tonneau.
While no less than 51mm from lug-to-lug and 42mm in width, the cambered case back of the Corum Ti-Bridge Tourbillon enables it to fit securely on a wrist as small as 15CM. The titanium case features predominantly brushed finish in order to keep attention firmly fixed on the mechanical centerpiece, but the gunmetal grey form of the Ti-Bridge is imposing all the same. Moreover, the exotic metal wears light on the wrist.
A superb black alligator leather strap combines with a hardy deployant clasp for security and comfort. The strap features anchor points that begin prior to the bounds of the case lugs, so its downward curvature begins prior to the edge of the case; small wrists benefit. All wrists will take pleasure in the soft calf leather underside of the Corum strap, and the tank-like construction of the twin-trigger double deployant clasp speaks to Corum's standards for its flagship model.

Corum of La Chaux-de-Fonds is a low-volume art house known for its"Bubbles," "Feathers," "Coins," and the dodecagonal Admiral's Cup line of sports watches. But it's the Corum Bridge series that underpins the brand's claim to haute horologerie street creed. Like the original 1980 "Golden Bridge," the Corum Bridge Ti-Bridge Tourbillon makes a commanding statement about Corum's in-house watchmaking acumen.
Consider what the Corum Ti-Bridge Tourbillon represents; it's a Golden Bridge re-imagined in titanium, and a flying tourbillon re-imagined as a sports watch. Not only is this avant-garde complication a striking affront to tradition, but it offers something like the holy grail for enthusiasts of horology's most prestigious complication; a tourbillon you can wear daily, in any attire.
Corum launched the first-ever Ti-Bridge model in 2009 and followed up with the even more audacious Ti-Bridge Tourbillon in 2010. More than a tourbillon grafted to the in-house Ti-Bridge movement, the manufacture caliber CO 22 bypassed the more common tourbillon for a flying tourbillon mechanism. The flying tourbillon is an early 20th century innovation that omits the bridge structure on the visible side of the tourbillon carriage. It's more difficult to execute and more spectacular to behold.
Corum's Ti-Bridge case offers a spacious gallery in which to exhibit the main attraction. With its gossamer baguette bridge, skeletonized strut bars, and linear drive train, the CO-22 is an open book that enables close reading with a loupe, looking glass, or even the naked eye. Like its Golden Bridge forebear, the Ti-Bridge is a linear showcase for the individual components that comprise the mechanical essence of a Swiss-lever movement.
