Because of constitutionally mandated term limits, Putin was ineligible to run for a third consecutive presidential term. After his successor Dmitry Medvedev won the 2008 presidential election, Putin was nominated by Medvedev to be Russia's Prime Minister; Putin took office on 8 May 2008 and a period of so-called "tandemocracy" followed. In September 2011, Putin and Medvedev agreed he should seek a third, non-consecutive term in the 2012 presidential election, which he won in the first round on 4 March 2012.

If you are a Presbyterian, your religion was founded by John Knox in Scotland in the year 1560. If you are a Congregationalist, your religion was originated by Robert Brown in Holland in 1582. If you are Protestant Episcopalian, your religion was an offshoot of the Church of England, founded by Samuel Senbury in the American colonies in the 17th century. If you are a Baptist, you owe the tenets of your religion to John Smyth, who launched it in Amsterdam in 1606. If you are of the Dutch Reformed Church, you recognize Michelis Jones as founder because he originated your religion in New York in 1628. If you are a Methodist, your religion was founded by John and Charles Wesley in England in 1774. If you are a Mormon (Latter Day Saints), Joseph Smith started your religion in Palmyra, New York, in 1829. If you worship with the Salvation Army, your sect began with William Booth in London in 1865. If you are Christian Scientist, you look to 1879 as the year in which your religion was born and to Mary Baker Eddy as its founder. If you belong to one of the religious organizations known as "Church of the Nazarene, Pentecostal Gospel," "Holiness Church," or "Jehovah's Witnesses," your religion is one of the hundreds of new sects founded by men within the past hundred years.
If you are Roman Catholic, your church shared the same rich apostolic and doctrinal heritage as the Orthodox Church for the first thousand years of its history, since during the first millennium they were one and the same Church. Lamentably, in 1054, the Pope of Rome broke away from the other four Apostolic Patriarchates (which include Constantinople, Alexandria, Antioch and Jerusalem), by tampering with the Original Creed of the Church, and considering himself to be infallible. Thus your church is 1,000 years old.
If you are an ORTHODOX Christian, your religion was founded in the year 33 by Jesus Christ, the Son of God. It has not changed since that time. Our church is now almost 2,000 years old. And it is for this reason, that Orthodoxy, the Church of the Apostles and the Fathers is considered the true "one Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church." This is the greatest legacy that we can pass on to the young people of the new millennium.

Presidents Obama and Putin share icy encounter over Syria
Sharp divisions over the civil war in Syria led to an icy encounter Monday between President Obama and Russian President Vladimir Putin, whom U.S. officials view as a major hurdle in their drive to force Syrian President Bashar Assad from power.
The two leaders held their first face-to-face meeting in a year at the summit of the world's richest countries days after Obama deepened U.S. involvement in the Syrian conflict. Aides said the CIA would begin supplying arms and ammunition to some opposition forces in hopes of shifting the military balance away from Assad.

Vladimir Putin answered questions from Hubert Seipel of the German TV channel ARD. The interview was recorded on November 13 in Vladivostok.
HUBERT SEIPEL (retranslated from Russian): Good afternoon, Mr President.
You are the only Russian President who has ever given a speech at the Bundestag. This happened in 2001. Your speech was a success. You spoke about relations between Russia and Germany, building Europe in cooperation with Russia, but you also gave a warning. You said that the Cold War ideas had to be eradicated. You also noted that we share the same values, yet we do not trust each other.

Russian President Vladimir Putin trained his pugnacious rhetoric on President Barack Obama on Friday, answering an allegation that he has lied about Ukraine with the jab: "Who is he to judge?"
In an extensive interview with CNBC at an economic conference in St. Petersburg, the Russian leader insisted that he hopes for a peaceful outcome to the crisis in Ukraine and will support the presidential election there on Sunday.
He flashed anger when he was asked about the American president's claim that he has lied about Russia's role in stoking conflict in Ukraine.
"Who is he to judge?" Putin said, according to an interpreter. "Who is he to judge, seriously? If he wants to judge people, why doesn't he get a job in court somewhere?"
"I don't think he accused me," Putin went on. "It's his point of view. And I have my point of view when he comes to certain things."
Putin spoke two days before Ukraine holds its first presidential election since Russia seized its Crimean peninsula earlier this year, and since pro-Russian separatists began battling with security forces in east Ukraine.
The Russian leader acknowledged that U.S.-led sanctions have hurt Russia, but he said that Russian is not "trying to fence ourselves out from the world."
"You can't force people to like you, as we say in Russia," Putin said. "But we hope that common sense, good sense and national interest, will push our European and American partners to continue cooperation."
Asked about Edward Snowden, the former American government security contractor who has leaked details of National Security Agency spying programs, Putin suggested he wasn't Russia's problem. Russia has granted Snowden temporary asylum.
"He turned up on our territory because of nonprofessional actions of the Americans themselves, who tried to catch him," Putin said.
"I used to work for special services. Why did they scare the entire world? They downed the planes with presidents on board, and the plane with Snowden on board they could down anywhere."
The reference was not immediately clear. But last July, during a worldwide hunt for the fugitive Snowden, a plane carrying the president of Bolivia was forced to land after rumors circulated that Snowden was on board. He turned out not to be.
Snowden this week granted his first American television interview to Brian Williams, the anchor and managing editor of "NBC Nightly News." NBC will air that interview in an hour-long special Wednesday at 10 p.m. ET.
On the Ukraine election, Putin said that his country will "have respect for the choice that the Ukrainian people make."
The likely winner is Petro Poroshenko, a political pragmatist who may be able to work with both Russia and the West. The world is watching to see whether the separatists will disrupt the vote.
"Of course, we will cooperate with the newly elected head of state," Putin told CNBC.
"I'm not kidding, and I'm not being ironic," he added. "What we want for Ukraine is peace and calm. We want this country to recover from crisis."
He said that "we will watch very closely what will happen" and said, as he has before, that Viktor Yanukovych, the pro-Russian president of Ukraine who was overthrown in February, is still the legitimate president.
The United States and Europe have imposed sanctions on well-placed Russians to punish the country for intervening in Ukraine, and they have threatened sanctions against whole Russian industries if Russia disrupts the election.
"What happened now is chaos," Putin said of the instability in east Ukraine, which the West has accused him of stoking. "The country is sliding into chaos."
Putin conceded that the sanctions have hurt Russia. He suggested that the United States was trying to gain a competitive business advantage over Europe.
"The sanctions were imposed," he said. "Now they're trying to make us to blame for something else."

In comments to reporters, Obama and Putin expressed support for still-unscheduled Syrian peace negotiations in Geneva, but offered no sign of progress in ending a war that has killed at least 93,000 people. Russia, Syria's most powerful ally, has sent weapons to Assad's forces and is considering deliveries of sophisticated antiaircraft missile batteries.
Obama noted that he and Putin had "differing perspectives" on Syria but said they both sought to reduce the bloodshed and secure Assad's arsenal of chemical weapons. "We want to try to resolve the issue through political means if possible," he said.
"Of course our opinions don't coincide," Putin responded. But he said he hoped "to solve the situation peacefully" and said they "agreed to push the parties to the negotiations table."
Obama tried to lighten the mood by joking about their favorite sports. He cited Putin's expertise in judo and "my declining skills in basketball." Then he added, "And we both agree that as you get older, it takes more time to recover."
Putin cracked a brief smile before adding an awkward admission of the tension: "The president wants to relax me with his statement."
Obama arrived at the Lough Erne resort for the annual meeting of the Group of 8 industrialized nations a day after Putin had roundly denounced Western support for the Syrian rebels. After meeting with British Prime Minister David Cameron in London, Putin described the anti-Assad forces as lawless thugs and cannibals.
"I believe one does not really need to support the people who not only kill their enemies, but open up their bodies, eat their intestines in front of the public gaze and cameras," Putin said, a reference to video posted online that appeared to show a rebel fighter cutting open the body of a loyalist soldier. "Are these the people you want to support?"
Even before that remark, Western officials had low hopes for a breakthrough at the G-8. The Russians have little incentive to push Assad into peace negotiations while his forces have the upper hand on the battlefield. Obama's reluctant and delayed decision to arm the rebels is viewed as an attempt to turn the tide in favor of the opposition and force the Syrian leader into talks.
The last time Obama and Putin met, at the G-20 summit a year ago in Los Cabos, Mexico, they barely made eye contact and seemed uncomfortable sitting next to each other. They were equally frosty Monday, sitting side by side in armchairs during their 12-minute meeting with reporters. Each looked straight ahead, unsmiling, as the other spoke, although Putin sometimes stared at the floor.
The White House offered another take on the rapport between the leaders. Deputy National Security Advisor Ben Rhodes called the two-hour meeting "businesslike."
Rhodes said the leaders spent about one-fifth of their time on Syria, and he tried to focus on areas of agreement. Putin and Obama agreed to a new version of the Cooperative Threat Reduction program, a post-Cold War nonproliferation program that secured or dismantled nuclear, biological and chemical weapons in former Soviet states.
And both expressed cautious optimism that the surprise election of Hassan Rowhani, a moderate cleric, as president of Iran may yield opportunities to defuse the international standoff over Tehran's nuclear development program.
Rhodes also acknowledged that the Russians were "more skeptical" of evidence that led the White House to declare last week that Assad's forces had used small amounts of sarin nerve gas in attacks that killed 100 to 150 people. The White House has not released the evidence or described how it was obtained, or by whom.
The impasse over Syria undermined Cameron's attempt to demonstrate loose camaraderie at the two-day G-8 meeting. The summit at this lush lakeshore golf haven was billed as a chance for world leaders to talk casually and privately -- away from protests and prying eyes -- about economic initiatives.

Full Exclusive Interview of Russian President Vladimir Putin's ARD German TV about Ukraine (English)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1o4GkiEoovw
Why were you being a little pessimistic back then?
VLADIMIR PUTIN: First of all, I gave no warnings or admonitions and I was not being pessimistic. I was just trying to analyse the preceding period in the development of the situation in the world and in Europe after the collapse of the Soviet Union. I also took the liberty of predicting the situation based on different development scenarios.
Naturally, it reflected the situation as we see it, through the prism, as diplomats would put it, from Russia’s point of view, but still, I think it was a rather objective analysis.
I reiterate: there was no pessimism whatsoever. None. On the contrary, I was trying to make my speech sound optimistic. I assumed that having acknowledged all the problems of the past, we must move towards a much more comfortable and mutually advantageous relationship-building process in the future.

Chalcedonian Christianity
Chalcedonian primarily describes a body of churches and theologians which accept the Definition of Chalcedon (451) of how the divine and human relate in the person of Jesus Christ. While most modern Christian churches are Chalcedonian, in the 5th – 8th centuries the ascendancy of Chalcedonian Christology was not always certain. The dogmatical disputes raised during the Council of Chalcedon led to the Chalcedonian Schism, and as a matter of course to the formation of the non-Chalcedonian body of churches known as Oriental Orthodoxy. The Chalcedonian churches were the ones that remained united with Rome, Constantinople and the three Orthodox pa

The History of Christianity in Ukraine dates back to the earliest centuries of the apostolic church. It has remained the dominant religion in the country since its acceptance in 988 by Vladimir the Great (Volodymyr the Great), who instated it as the state religion of Kievan Rus', a medieval East Slavic state and establishment of the Kiev Metropolis. Although separated into various denominations, most Ukrainian Christians share a common faith, based on the Eastern Christian tradition. This tradition is represented in Ukraine by both Eastern Orthodox and Eastern Catholic Churches, which have been at various historic times closely aligned with U

Syriac Christianity (Syriac: ܡܫܝܚܝܘܬܐ ܣܘܪܝܝܬܐ / mšiḥāiūṯā suryāiṯā) encompasses the multiple Churches of Eastern Christianity whose services tend to feature liturgical use of ancient Syriac, a dialect of Middle Aramaic that emerged in Edessa in the early 1st century AD, and is closely related to the Aramaic of Jesus. Jesus Christ was known as Yešua` mšiḥā in Aramaic. With a history going back to the 1st century AD, in modern times Syriac Christianity is represented by denominations primarily in the Middle East, Asia Minor and in Kerala, India. Wisdom Christianity 8: The Eastern Turn: Part 1, Fr Bruno Barnhart
This film outlines part of Fr. Bruno Barnhart's vision for a new sapiential (wisdom) Christianity for our time. Here Fr Bruno reflects on how dialogue with the Asian traditions (such as Hinduism and Buddhism), has opened up a depth within the Christian faith that had almost entirely remained dormant. He uses the term non-duality to express this discovery, and asserts that a non-dual (or divine-human) identity is bestowed on the Christian at baptism.
Fr. Bruno Barnhart is a monk of New Camaldoli Hermitage, Big Sur California. The film was taken by Chris Morris in December 2012

Christianity then spread through the missionary work of his apostles, first in the Levant and taking roots in the major cities such as Jerusalem and Antioch. According to tradition, further eastward expansion occurred via the preaching of Thomas the Apostle, who established Christianity in the Parthian Empire (Iran) and India. The first Middle Eastern nations to adopt Christianity as a state religion were Armenia in 301 and Georgia in 327. After the First Council of Ephesus in 431 and the Nestorian Schism, Christianity split into the Western (Roman) versions, and the Eastern or Nestorian Christianity, though the term Nestorian was sometimes used as a catchall phrase to refer to several different Eastern doctrines. Nestorians began converting Mongols around the 7th century, and Nestorian Christianity was probably introduced into China during the Tang Dynasty (618-907). Mongols tended to be tolerant of multiple religions, with several Mongol tribes being primarily Christian, and under the leadership of Genghis Khan's grandson, the great khan Möngke, Christianity was a small religious influence of the Mongol Empire in the 13th century. Father Jordanus Catalani, a French Dominican missionary, followed in 1321-22. He reported to Rome, apparently from somewhere on the west coast of India, that he had given Christian burial to four martyred monks. Jordanus is known for his 1329 "Mirabilia" describing the marvels of the East: he furnished the best account of Indian regions and the Christians, the products, climate, manners, customs, fauna and flori given by any European in the Middle Ages - superior even to Marco Polo’s. The Roman Catholic Diocese of Quilon or Kollam is the first Catholic diocese in Asia, India in the state of Kerala. First erected on 9 August 1329 and re-erected on 1 September 1886.In 1329 Pope John XXII (in captivity at Avignon) erected Quilon as the first Diocese in the whole of Indies as suffragan to the Archdiocese of Sultany in Persia through the decree "Romanus Pontifix" dated 9th August 1329. By a separate Bull "Venerabili Fratri Jordano", the same Pope, on 21 August 1329 appointed the French Dominican friar Jordanus Catalani de Severac as the first Bishop of Quilon. (Copies of the Orders and the related letters issued by Pope John XXII to Bishop Jordanus Catalani and to the diocese of Quilon are documented and preserved in the diocesan archives). Around that same time, there was some effort to reunite Eastern and Western Christianity. There were also numerous missionary efforts from Europe to Asia, primarily by Franciscan, Dominican, or Jesuit missionaries. In the 16th century, Spain began to convert Filipinos. In the 18th century, Catholicism developed more or less independently in Korea. At present, Christianity continues to be the majority religion in the Philippines, East Timor, Armenia, Georgia, Cyprus and Russia. And has significant minority populations in South Korea, China, India, Indonesia, Vietnam, Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Syria and several other countries in Asia with a total Christian population of more than 295 million.

The Chalcedonian churches were the ones that remained united with Rome, Constantinople and the three Orthodox patriarchates of the East (Alexandria, Antioch and Jerusalem), that under Justinian II at the council in Trullo were organised under a form of rule known as the Pentarchy. The Eastern Catholic Churches also accepted the Definition of Chalcedon. The Georgian Orthodox Church accepted Chalcedonian dogma and became an Eastern Orthodox church after the East–West Schism. The majority of the Armenian, Coptic, and Ethiopian Christians, together with a part of the Syriac Christians, rejected the Chalcedonian definition, and are now known collectively as the Oriental Orthodox churches. Some Armenian Christians (especially in the region of Cappadocia and Trebizond inside the Byzantine Empire) did accept the decisions of the Council of Chalcedon and engaged in polemics against the Armenian Apostolic Church.

The terms "Eastern" and "Western" in this regard originated with geographical divisions in the Christian Church mirroring the cultural divide between the Hellenistic east and Latinate west and the political divide between the weak Western and strong Eastern Roman empires. Because the most powerful church in the East was what has become known as the Eastern Orthodox Church, the term "Orthodox" is often used in a similarly loose fashion as "Eastern", although strictly speaking, most eastern churches consider themselves part of an Orthodox and catholic communion.

Because the most powerful church in the East was what has become known as the Eastern Orthodox Church, the term "Orthodox" is often used in a similarly loose fashion as "Eastern", although strictly speaking, most eastern churches consider themselves part of an Orthodox and catholic communion.

This tradition is represented in Ukraine by both Eastern Orthodox and Eastern Catholic Churches, which have been at various historic times closely aligned with Ukrainian national self-identity. Currently, three major Ukrainian Orthodox Churches coexist, and often compete, in the country: the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kyivan Patriarchate, the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate), and the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church. Additionally, a significant body of Christians belong to the Eastern Rite Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, and a smaller number are in the Ruthenian Catholic Church. While Western Christian traditions such as Roman Catholicism and Protestantism have had a limited presence on the territory of Ukraine since at least the 16th century, worshipers of these traditions remain a relatively small minority in today's Ukraine.

Main article: History of Christianity The history of modern Christianity concerns the Christian religion from the end of the Early Modern era to the present day. The Early Modern history of Christianity is usually taken to begin with the Protestant Reformation ca. 1517—1525 (usually rounded down to 1500) and ending in the late 18th century with the onset of the Industrial Revolution and the events leading up to the French Revolution of 1789. This article only covers 1720 to the current date. For the early modern period, see the articles on the Protestant Reformation, the Counter-Reformation and the Catholic Church and the Age of Discovery. Becoming common to all of Europe in the Middle Ages, Christianity expanded throughout the world during the Age of Exploration. Christianity has thus become the world's largest religion. Christianity differs most significantly from the other religions in the claim that Jesus Christ is God the Son, but throughout its history, it has weathered schisms and theological disputes that have resulted in many distinct churches. The largest branches of Christianity are the Roman Catholic Church and the Eastern Orthodox Church, and the Protestant churches. Following the Fall of Constantinople, Christianity followed two different paths: Western Christianity and Eastern Christianity.

Christianity began in the Middle East in Jerusalem among Jewish Aramaic-speaking Semitic peoples of Judah (modern Israel, Palestinian Territories and Jordan). It quickly spread, initially to other Semitic peoples, in Parthian-ruled Assyria and Mesopotamia (modern Iraq), Roman-ruled Syria (ancient Aramea), Phoenicia (modern Lebanon), southern and eastern Asia Minor (modern Turkey), and northwestern Persia (modern Iran) and Malta. From there it spread to Greece, Armenia, Egypt, Georgia, the Caucasus region and on into The Balkans, India, North Africa, Rome, Ethiopia, Nubia (modern Sudan) and Arabia, and eventually southern and western Europe. Syriac Christianity is divided into two major traditions: The East Syrian Rite, historically centered in Assyria/Upper Mesopotamia, and the West Syrian Rite, centered in Antioch and the Mediterranean coast (the Levant). The East Syrian Rite tradition was historically associated with the Assyrian founded Church of the East, and is currently employed by the Middle Eastern churches that descend from it, the Assyrian Church of the East, the Ancient Church of the East, and the Chaldean Catholic Church (the members of these churches are Eastern Aramaic-speaking ethnic Assyrians), as well as by the Syro-Malabar Catholic Church of India. The West Syrian tradition is used by the Syriac Orthodox Church, the Maronite Church, the Syriac Catholic Church, and churches that descend from them, as well as by the Malankara Churches of India, which follow the Saint Thomas Christian tradition.

Muslim Alliance With Eastern Orthodox Christianity In The End Times- Sheikh Imran Hosein 0

Recent events have highlighted the situation of Eastern Christians forced to flee Iraq and Syria under the threat of the self-proclaimed terrorist group "Islamic State" (Daech in Arabic), which cruelly attacks religious minorities.
With no choice but to leave their country overnight, many Christians flee to Lebanon, where despite a fragile situation, churches welcome and support them in very concrete ways.
This film plunges us into the dramatic reality of Eastern Christians today and the outpouring of generosity in many countries to help them cope. The testimonies of refugees and of those committed to working alongside them strengthen u

December 14, 2013 | From Cairo and Damascus to Tehran and Beijing, religious freedom is under siege. Ironically, it is Christianity—a faith that contributed decisively to the rise of religious liberty—that now finds itself increasingly persecuted around the world.
In view of this global crisis, Georgetown University's Religious Freedom Project hosted a two-day conference in Rome highlighting Christianity's contributions to the understanding and practice of freedom for all people. The conference presented findings from a two-year study by dozens of scholars concerning Christianity's contributions to freedom. This event was co-sponsored by Baylor University's Institute for Studies of Religion and made possible by a generous grant from the Historical Society's Religion and Innovation in Human Affairs Program.

How old is the EASTERN ORTHODOX CHURCH ?
True Christianity is the Eastern Orthodox Faith.
If you are a Lutheran, your religion was founded by Martin Luther, an ex-monk of the Catholic Church, in the year 1517. If you belong to the Church of England, your religion was founded by King Henry VIII in the year 1534 because the Pope would not grant him a divorce with the right to re-marry.

If you never took in school or study History of Christianity or the Christian Church, this (3 Part Documentary) will help you a lot. Our journey begins with the founding of the Church, the spread of Christianity to "nations" by the Apostles, the Gospel and the institution of Sacraments. After the stabilization of the Church, the journey continues through the period of the Nicene Creed, Patristic Scriptures, Divine Liturgy and Icons. During this same period, however, the official division of East and West is witnessed and concludes with a gradual rift in matters of faith, dogma, church customs, politics and culture. The Church becomes the only institution perceived by Greeks as the preserver of their national identity during 400 years of Turkish rule. By the end of the 19th century, a worldwide Orthodox community is born and the Church expands its influence to major social and philanthropic concerns.
GOD bless you

Christianity in Asia has its roots in the very inception of Christianity, which originated from the life and teachings of Jesus in 1st century Roman Palestine.

Eastern Christianity consists of four main church families: the Eastern Orthodox Church, the Oriental Orthodox Churches, the Assyrian Church of the East and the Eastern Catholic Churches. The term is used in contrast to Western Christianity. Collectively they comprise the Christian traditions and churches that developed in the Balkans, Eastern Europe, Asia Minor, the Middle East, Africa, India and parts of the Far East over several centuries. The term does not describe a single communion or common religious tradition. Some Eastern churches have more in common historically and theologically with Western Christianity than with one another. The various Eastern churches do not normally refer to themselves as "Eastern", with the exception of the Assyrian Church of the East and its offshoots.

The testimonies of refugees and of those committed to working alongside them strengthen us in faith and lead us to "pray with open eyes."
