Supporting a sustainable future

On 25 September 2015, 193 member countries of the United Nations formally adopted the Sustainable Development Agenda with 17 Sustainable Development Goals at its core. The goals are ambitious but their development has included a careful consideration of the frameworks required to support the achievement of these outcomes. This includes, for the first time, a formal acknowledgement of geospatial information’s role as fundamental infrastructure that underpins the ability of nations to develop and prosper.
