Wikimedia Foundation, Inc. is an American non-profit charitable organization headquartered in San Francisco, California, United States. It is organized under the laws of the state of Florida, where it was initially based. It operates several online collaborative wiki projects including Wikipedia, Wiktionary, Wikiquote, Wikibooks, Wikisource, Wikimedia Commons, Wikispecies, Wikinews, Wikiversity, Wikimedia Incubator, Meta-Wiki and owns the now-defunct Nupedia. Its flagship project, Wikipedia, ranks in the top-ten most-visited websites worldwide. The creation of the foundation was officially announced on June 20, 2003, by Wikipedia co-founder Jimmy Wales, who had been operating Wikipedia under the aegis of his company Bomis.
Jimmy Donal "Jimbo" Wales (/ˈdoʊnəlˈweɪlz/; born August 7, 1966) is an American Internet entrepreneur best known as a co-founder and promoter of the online non-profit encyclopedia Wikipedia and the Wikia company. Wales was born in Huntsville, Alabama, United States, where he attended Randolph School, a university-preparatory school, then earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in finance. While in graduate school, he taught at two universities, but left before completing a PhD in order to take a job in finance and later worked as the research director of a Chicago futures and options firm. In 1996, he and two partners founded Bomis, a male-oriented web portal featuring entertainment and adult content. The company would provide the initial funding for the peer-reviewed free encyclopedia Nupedia (2000–2003) and its successor, Wikipedia.
On January 15, 2001, with Larry Sanger and others, Wales launched Wikipedia, a free, open content encyclopedia that enjoyed rapid growth and popularity, and as Wikipedia’s public profile grew, he became the project’s promoter and spokesman. He is historically cited as a co-founder of Wikipedia, though he has disputed the "co-" designation, declaring himself the sole founder. Wales serves on the Board of Trustees of the Wikimedia Foundation, the non-profit charitable organization he helped establish to operate Wikipedia, holding its board-appointed "community founder" seat. In 2004, he co-founded Wikia, a for-profit wiki-hosting service. His role in creating Wikipedia, which has become the world’s largest encyclopedia, prompted Time magazine to name him in its 2006 list of the world’s most influential people.

An illness prompted Jim Pacha to consider how to give back to the world, and he decided to donate much of his estate to the Wikimedia Foundation, to support our vision of bringing the sum of human knowledge to people everywhere. Pacha wanted others to benefit the way that he benefited, and he believed Wikipedia — with 30 million free articles on every subject imaginable — embodied his highest ideals. Prior to his legacy gift, Pacha made regular donations to the Wikimedia Foundation.

(1.3) Basics of Iframe Injection (Cross-frame-Scripting) Vulnerabilities
"In an XFS (Cross-frame-Scripting) attack, the attacker exploits a specific cross-frame-scripting bug in a web browser to access private data on a third-party website. The attacker induces the browser user to navigate to a web page the attacker controls; the attacker's page loads a third-party page in an HTML frame; and then javascript executing in the attacker's page steals data from the third-party page." (OWASP)
"XFS also sometimes is used to describe an XSS attack which uses an HTML frame in the attack. For example, an attacker might exploit a Cross Site Scripting Flaw to inject a frame into a third-party web page; or an attacker might create a page which uses a frame to load a third-party page with an XSS flaw." About Group About.com All Topics (At least 99.88% links) Vulnerable to XSS (Cross-Site Scripting) Security Attacks
Vulnerability Description:
About.com all "topic sites" are vulnerable to XSS (Cross-Site Scripting) attacks. This means all sub-domains of about.com are affected. Based on a self-written program, 94357 links were tested. Only 118 links do not belong to the topics (Metasites) links. Meanwhile, some about.commain pages are vulnerable to XSS attack, too. This means no more than 0.125% links are not affected. At least 99.875% links of About Group are vulnerable to XSS attacks. In fact, forabout.com's structure, the main domain is something just like a cover. So, very few links belong to them.
Simultaneously, the About.com main page's search field is vulnerable to XSS attacks, too. This means all domains related to about.com are vulnerable to XSS attacks.

Collaboration projects with "GLAMs" (the cultural heritage
sector) has become one of the most visible success stories of
the Wikimedia movement over the last two years.
00:30 - State of the GLAM: DC
Aude
The Wiki(media) DC group is actively working on
collaborations and outreach with cultural institutions in the
Washington DC area. In the Fall 2010, we narrowed focus
to the topic of American Art, working with the Smithsonian
American Art Museum on article collaborations, and the
Archives of American Art which is now hosting a Wikipedian in
Residence this summer (2011).

22:50 - State of GLAM in the Netherlands
Maarten Dammers (User:Multichill)
GLAM is a hot topic in the Netherlands. In this presentation
I will go over the projects in the past year. Projects that will
be discussed are partnerships with the Tropenmuseum, the
National Archives of the Netherlands & Spaarnestad Photo,
Amsterdam Museum, Dutch Institute for Sound and Vision
(Open Beelden), Wiki Loves Bieb and more. Also present a
sneak preview of what projects are coming up.

Palace of Versailles and Wikimedia projects: feedback on the experience
Benoît Evellin (Trizek)
Since mid-February 2011, Wikimédia France and the Château
de Versailles have signed an agreement to work together to
give information to people about the palace and offer deep and
relevant sources to the volunteers. This experience is the first in
France, and one of the first with an international museum.
54:00 - What next in GLAM?
Liam Wyatt
This year the Wikimedia Foundation funded the temporary
position of "cultural partnerships fellow" -- the presenter -- to
help build the capacity of the community in this field and
capitalise on the momentum that had been created. This
presentation will briefly report on the activities of the Cultural
Partnerships Fellow.

In Conversation With... Sue Gardner
Technology has rapidly altered the world of communications and media, which perhaps no one knows more acutely than Sue Gardner, the former executive director of the Wikimedia Foundation, the nonprofit behind Wikipedia. The online, crowd-sourced encyclopedia is the fifth most-visited website in the world, but that status does not come without its share of risks. The open nature of Wikipedia has led to concerns about the accuracy of information, the quality of the editing from its volunteer "Wikimedians," and questions about transparency and reputation risk. Hear Gardner discuss how the Wikimedia Foundation transformed from a 10-employee, $3 million operation to a staff of 179 with more than $50 million in donations and grants, how a new era of transparency is transforming the business landscape and the future of media.

For example, an attacker might exploit a Cross Site Scripting Flaw to inject a frame into a third-party web page; or an attacker might create a page which uses a frame to load a third-party page with an XSS flaw." (OWASP)

Vulnerability Description:
About.com all "topic sites" are vulnerable to Iframe Injection (Cross Frame Scripting) attacks. This means all sub-domains of about.com are affected. Based on a self-written program, 94357 links were tested. Only 118 links do not belong to the topics (Metasites) links. This means no more than 0.125% links are not affected. At least 99.875% links of About Group are vulnerable to Iframe Injection attacks. In fact, for about.com's structure, the main domain is something just like a cover. So, very few links belong to them.
For the Iframe Injection vulnerabilities. They can be used to do DOS (Denial-of-Service Attack) to other websites, too.
