Who needs it more: Iowa. On the off chance that the Hawkeyes lose this one, they'll likewise lose the no holds barred sudden death round in the West Division if both groups complete with one association misfortune. They are undefeated, yet they're not getting much acknowledgment for it despite quality wins against Pitt and Wisconsin. Obviously, they additionally beat FCS rival Illinois State, and 0-5 North Texas, which has following let go its head mentor. Regardless of the win over Stanford, it's difficult to see Northwestern getting into the playoff discussion after the misfortune to Michigan. McCaffrey scrambled for a school-record 243 yards and four touchdowns. He likewise piled on 369 universally handy yards, simply missing Glyn Milburn's Stanford mark in that class by 10 yards. The past single-amusement surging record had a place with Toby Gerhart, who kept running for 223 yards against Oregon in 2009.
The Cardinal set the tone behind their guard early. Alijah Holder blocked UCLA quarterback Josh Rosen's third down go in the first quarter and hastened 31 yards the other path for the score.
Stanford never surrendered that early lead, and it attached on an outcry point with an awesome trap play in the second from last quarter: On an opposite out of the Wildcat development, Kevin Hogan tossed a 41-yard touchdown go to Francis Owusu, who got the ball - in spite of substantial pass obstruction - coming to behind the back of UCLA's Jaleel Wadood.

Georgia Williams' killer had photos of me
A teenager hanged by a man obsessed with asphyxiating girls was failed by police and social services assigned to her killer after an earlier attack, a serious case review has found.
Jamie Reynolds tried to strangle a girl in 2008 and went on to hang 17-year-old Georgia Williams in Telford in 2013.
His stepfather had told the Justice Liaison Service that he had photos of girls he knew with nooses drawn around their necks.
Jadine Dunning knew Georgia and was one of the women Reynolds had images of.
She told BBC Breakfast that she felt the police had put her life in danger by not making her aware of the images and that Georgia would still be alive had the information been shared.

Atlanta is the capital of and the most populous city in the U.S. state of Georgia, with an estimated 2013 population of 447,841.[6] Atlanta is the cultural and economic center of the Atlanta metropolitan area, home to 5,522,942 people and the ninth largest metropolitan area in the United States.[7] Atlanta is the county seat of Fulton County, and a small portion of the city extends eastward into DeKalb County.
Atlanta is considered an "alpha-" or "world city",[17] ranking 36th among world cities and 8th in the nation with a gross domestic product of $270 billion.[18] Atlanta's economy is considered diverse, with dominant sectors including logistics, professional and business services, media operations, and information technology.[19] Topographically, Atlanta is marked by rolling hills and dense tree coverage.[20] Revitalization of Atlanta's neighborhoods, initially spurred by the 1996 Olympics, has intensified in the 21st century, altering the city's demographics, politics, and culture.[21][22]
Tourism
As of 2010, Atlanta is the seventh-most visited city in the United States, with over 35 million visitors per year.[158] Although the most popular attraction among visitors to Atlanta is the Georgia Aquarium,[159] the world's largest indoor aquarium,[160] Atlanta's tourism industry mostly driven by the city's history museums and outdoor attractions. Atlanta contains a notable amount of historical museums and sites, including the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historic Site, which includes the preserved childhood home of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., as well as his final resting place; the Atlanta Cyclorama & Civil War Museum, which houses a massive painting and diorama in-the-round, with a rotating central audience platform, depicting the Battle of Atlanta in the Civil War; the World of Coca-Cola, featuring the history of the world famous soft drink brand and its well-known advertising; the College Football Hall of Fame which honors college football and its athletes; the National Center for Civil and Human Rights, which explores the American Civil Rights Movement and its connection to contemporary human rights movements throughout the world; the Carter Center and Presidential Library, housing U.S. President Jimmy Carter's papers and other material relating to the Carter administration and the Carter family's life; and the Margaret Mitchell House and Museum, site of the writing of the best-selling novel Gone with the Wind.
Atlanta also contains various outdoor attractions.[161] The Atlanta Botanical Garden, adjacent to Piedmont Park, is home to the 600-foot-long (180 m) Kendeda Canopy Walk, a skywalk that allows visitors to tour one of the city's last remaining urban forests from 40-foot-high (12 m). The Canopy Walk is considered the only canopy-level pathway of its kind in the United States. Zoo Atlanta, located in Grant Park, accommodates over 1,300 animals representing more than 220 species. Home to the nation's largest collections of gorillas and orangutans, the Zoo is also one of only four zoos in the U.S. to house giant pandas.[162] Festivals showcasing arts and crafts, film, and music, including the Atlanta Dogwood Festival, the Atlanta Film Festival, and Music Midtown, respectively, are also popular with tourists.[163]
Sports
Atlanta is home to professional franchises for three major team sports: the Atlanta Braves of Major League Baseball, the Atlanta Hawks of the National Basketball Association, and the Atlanta Falcons of the National Football League. The Braves, who moved to Atlanta in 1966, were established as the Boston Red Stockings in 1871 and are the oldest continually operating professional sports franchise in the United States.[citation needed] The Braves won the World Series in 1995, and had an unprecedented run of 14 straight divisional championships from 1991 to 2005.[171]

Each year Savannah attracts millions of visitors to its cobblestone streets, parks, and notable historic buildings: the birthplace of Juliette Gordon Low (founder of the Girl Scouts of the United States of America), the Georgia Historical Society (the oldest continually operating historical society in the South), the Telfair Academy of Arts and Sciences (one of the South's first public museums), the First African Baptist Church (one of the oldest African-American Baptist congregations in the United States), Temple Mickve Israel (the third oldest synagogue in America), and the Central of Georgia Railway roundhouse complex (the oldest standing antebellum rail facility in America).[3][5]
Savannah's downtown area, which includes the Savannah Historic District, the Savannah Victorian Historic District, and 22 parklike squares, is one of the largest National Historic Landmark Districts in the United States (designated by the U.S. government in 1966).[3][a] Downtown Savannah largely retains the original town plan prescribed by founder James Oglethorpe (a design now known as the Oglethorpe Plan).
Savannah was the host city for the sailing competitions during the 1996 Summer Olympics held in Atlanta.

The States Documentary 10 Georgia, Colorado, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Maryland and DC
The States Documentary 10 Georgia, Colorado, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Maryland and DC - The States documentary history channel
The show begins with an introduction to the five states to be documented within the episode. Each state's segment begins with the narrator giving a clue as to what that state might be, and then revealing the answer. ( e.g. "There is a North Dakota and a South Dakota, a North Carolina and a South Carolina, but there's been one "West" anything! Welcome to West Virginia.") There is then a billboard that pops up showing the state nickname, motto, population, population ranking within the union, date the state entered the union, and state flag. During interviews with historians or notable people from a state, the state's quarter is shown. Since the series was produced in 2007, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arizona, Alaska, and Hawaii are shown with their flags. Those quarters were released in 2008
The show then highlights the history of the state itself, including notable events that have happened there, and highlights other noteworthy things in that state. In 2010 a sister presentation and then series, How the States Got Their Shapes was aired.

United States Army Sniper School (documentary)
The U.S. Army Sniper School is part of the United States Army 197th Infantry Brigade based at Fort Benning, Georgia. The first U.S. Army Sniper School was short lived, being established in 1955, but disbanded in 1956 at Camp Perry, Ohio. The U.S. Army's first permanent school was established in 1987 at Fort Benning, Georgia.
The school trains soldiers in marksmanship, sniper equipment and tactics, collection of battlefield intelligence, stalking and other sniper-related skills. The primary mission of the sniper is to deliver long range, precision fire. Their secondary mission is the collecting and reporting of battlefield information. Soldiers are taught how to blend in with the surrounding environment by wearing a ghillie suit. They must go through a course where they come within approximately 300-800 meters of spotters in the back of an LMTV and take a shot at either the driver or passenger without being noticed. They must also identify a 12" letter held up by the instructor they fired upon. Students are no longer trained on the M24 Sniper Weapon System. They are trained on the M107 rifle, and the M110 Semi-Automatic Sniper System.

George State Capitol Commemoration of the Armenian Genocide Centennial
ATLANTA, GA — In what is now an annual remembrance ceremony, Armenian-Americans, friends of the community, and elected officials from across the state came together at the Georgia State Capitol on April 24 to honor the innocent victims and commemorate the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide. The mistress of ceremonies for the event was Dr. Vardoui Agasarkisian-Jinian representing the Armenian National Committee (ANC) of Georgia.
Former Congressman and former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Andrew Young opened the ceremony with an invocation. He then delivered the welcoming remarks. Young spoke about the importance of remembering past genocides—particularly the Armenian Genocide.
Congressmen John Lewis and Hank Johnson, Superior Court Chief Judge Thelma Wyatt Cummings Moore, and former Mayor of Atlanta Bill Campbell also delivered remarks about the importance of remembering the Armenian Genocide, and the duty to prevent such crimes from taking place in the future.
Lewis extended his deepest sympathy to the Armenian community. “Today, people all over the world will stop and remember the 1.5 million Armenians killed between 1915 and 1923. I applaud your dedication to preserving the memory of those who lost their lives,” said Lewis.
In her remarks, Judge Cummings Moore spoke about the Armenian community and the community’s political involvement in Atlanta. She stressed the importance for the U.S. government to officially recognize the Armenian Genocide in order to ensure that such atrocities never happen again.
Congressman Hank Johnson stressed the importance of remembrance and historical justice, Johnson noted, “As we mark the 100th anniversary of these terrible atrocities, let us remember those who have come before us, and not forget their suffering. Remembering these tragic events helps our society advance the cause of human rights.”
Emory University Professor Dr. Julieta Stepanyan-Abgaryan delivered moving remarks. She discussed her life in Soviet Armenia, and the independence movement. She also touched upon the stories of her family members, survivors of the genocide.
Chairman of the American Armenian Association Dr. Sarkis Agasarkisian discussed current congressional efforts to attain U.S. recognition of the Armenian Genocide and the importance of international recognition of Artsakh’s independence.
“…Many Turkish scholars—at the face of death threats and criminal prosecution—are calling upon their government to officially recognize the Armenian Genocide. Until the U.S. recognizes the Armenian Genocide, Turkey will keep denying it,” said Agasarkisian.
He also touched upon the importance of recognizing the Nagorno Karabakh Republic, Artsakh, “We need to have an understanding about the historical realities and call upon the U.S. government to formally recognize the independence of the Nagorno Karabagh Republic. Artsakh is part of historic Armenia; it was arbitrarily carved out of it and placed under Soviet Azerbaijan. However, it has never been part of an independent Azerbaijani state,” he concluded.
Noah Mushegian read the Atlanta City Council Proclamation, which designates April 24, 2015 as the day to honor the “100th Commemoration of the Armenian Genocide.”
Georgia State Representative Mable Thomas read resolutions on Nagorno Karabagh and the Armenian Genocide. Janett Mushagian read the Georgia Governor’s letter to the Armenian community.
Former Mayor of Atlanta Bill Campbell, who was the first city mayor to issue an Armenian Genocide proclamation, praised the activism of the Armenian community of Atlanta. He noted the importance of condemning all genocides. Campbell read the latest proclamation of current Mayor Kasim Reed, which states, “As you assemble to commemorate this tragic occurrence, I salute the Armenian community for all that you do to advance human rights and cultural understanding.”
The memorable ceremony concluded with Mushegian’s benediction, followed by Ruzanna Pogosian’s a capella performance of “Kelle Lao.” Dr. Vardoui Agasarkisian-Jinian thanked the attendees, particularly Aroutioun Agasarkisian and Sarkis Agasarkisian, who first initiated the annual remembrance ceremony in the State of Georgia.

Georgia State University - Spring 2015 Commencement
Georgia State University graduated more than 5,700 students receiving bachelor’s, master’s and specialist’s degrees at the university’s spring and summer commencement on Saturday, May 9 in the Georgia Dome.
Bestselling writer Jonathan Safran Foer, author of “Everything Is Illuminated” and “Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close,” was the keynote speaker.
Foer’s “Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close” was chosen as the university’s First-Year Book Program selection for the freshman class in 2011 as part of an effort to provide a common intellectual experience and foster critical thinking. Many of those freshmen who read Foer’s book participated in the May 9 ceremony.
“Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close” tells the story of a 9-year-old boy searching for a lock fitting a key that belonged to his father, who died in the Sept. 11, 2001 attack on the World Trade Center in New York.
The novel, an international bestseller, received numerous awards, including the Victoria and Albert Museum Award and the Prix des libraries du Quebec. The novel was made into a film in 2011.
Foer’s first novel, “Everything Is Illuminated,” debuted to sweeping praise when the author was 25 years old. Foer is included in The New Yorker magazine’s “20 under 40” list of the best young writers in the U.S. He also has been named one of Rolling Stone magazine’s “People of the Year” and Esquire magazine’s “Best and Brightest.”
The university held a separate commencement for 135 Ph.D. students on Monday, May 11 at the Rialto Center for the Arts.

Celebrate April Fool's Day by calling out bad bills like #HB430 — which would authorize secret search warrants, and give full civil and criminal immunity to any state agent causing death or injury during execution of a search warrant.
#GaSenate Bill 94 was a good bill before the prosecutors got ahold of it. Legislators took a bill with perfectly good reforms and make it into one that seeks to limit our freedoms with things like secret search warrants, secretly retained property seizures, and granting the police the authority to search your home and/or property if they suspect a crime is about to be committed!
#SB94 with #HB430 needs to be stopped.
Please tell Senator Charlie Bethel — the original author of SB94 — to remove HB430 language from the eyewitness identification procedure reforms. Tweet @CharlieBethel call (404) 463-1383 and email charlie.bethel@senate.ga.gov
