Umar Johnson, strippers and black leadership: What should we think?
I wasn't going to touch on the issue between Dr Umar Johnson and a woman known as "The Conscious Stripper," but I woke up realizing that this is an opportunity to discuss our perceptions of black leadership, the standards to which we hold our public figures, and how our personal lives might overlap with what we do professionally.
I give my honest thought on this issue without knowing what others

The 2015 Castle Lectures - Africa: The Last Frontier for Development – Lecture 1: The Unfulfilled Dreams of African Independence
Africa has lagged the rest of the developing world in terms of economic development, health, the establishment of social order, and the consolidation of democracy. For development outcomes, compared to other regions of the world, Africa is the “last frontier”. This lecture series will first survey the dimensions of development failures, and then will identify the historical and political sources accounting for this lag. Finally, it will point to some hopeful trends.
Speaker: David Laitin, James T. Watkins IV and Elise V. Watkins Professor of Political Science, Stanford University.

http://www.vladtv.com - Recently, leading scholar and social commentator Dr. Boyce Watkins gave VladTV an exclusive interview; this portion of the in-depth dialogue broaches the topics of Dave Chappelle taking a sabbatical from show business and how everyone has some sort of boss.
When questioned about Dave Chappelle shirking the spotlight during the pinnacle of his popularity, Dr. Boyce Watkins offers his perspective saying, "I think Dave ran into the curse of being too authentic of a human being to be at that particular level," adding, "I think when you get to that level of fame - where there's that much money on the line - and you're dealing with so many warped incentives from people who only care about money, who are only there to worship money -- it's much, much harder to be an artist."
Sincerity encompasses his statement as Dr. Boyce Watkins offers, "It's much, much harder to be a good person, it's much, much harder to do what you truly love as opposed to doing what you need to do to fit some model that's being run by a corporation. Nobody's going to put $50 million on the line without a lot of restrictions and safeguards in place."
Watch the full clip to get more of Dr. Boyce Watkins' thoughts on Dave Chappelle safeguarding his integrity and happiness and refusing to become enslaved to a corporation, and his thoughts on being a boss versus having a boss and saving versus flipping money.

Everybody I meet says to me 'You must get bored, you must get absolutely bored going from North to South, South to North' I never get bored of it. No two trips are the same. I'm just easing the vessel into the terminal, nice and easy, trying not to bump along the side. The guys say we like to do it without cracking an egg. Some of us do it, some of us don't. I would have cracked a box full with that one! I play a lot of golf. I'm quite a sociable guy, and, when I'm out, if ever they see me they ask me what I do for a living. Everybody's interested in the job I'm doing, what I'm up to. Yeah, I love it. I'm very proud. You get to see all the vessels that go by, get to see some beautiful vessels. In the reach at the moment, we've got some tall ships - that's a rare sight. Obviously, looking down, I get to see all the cars, some nice cars that come on the vessel. Also you get some amorous couples. They don't think to look up and see me, you can look over some times and you might see a little bit of kissing and cuddling and canoodling, and that's quite funny sometimes. I've been a bit wicked in the past and if I see a couple having a little kiss and a cuddle I often get on the phone and call my crew mates, and tell them that the couple in a certain car need some advice and direction. It's a little bit wicked I know but I do enjoy doing that. My Dad worked on the tug, they were responsible for towing the rubbish out of London and the company he worked for put a modification on the tug which the crew of the tug, including my Dad, didn't want because they felt it was dangerous. They put a bar over the top of the towing hook. Well the day my Dad was on there, the rope slipped and it trapped my Dad's hand. Every bone in his hand it shattered. He broke his arm obviously and he was never the same after that. Part of the river where the accident happened is a place called Walbrook Dock. Every time I pass there I can't help looking over and thinking yeah that's where my dad's end of life really started, if I'm honest. I still miss him. People still talk about him. He was a bit of a character, my Dad. I like to think that I've got a bit of his sense of humour, bless him. There we are, I've cracked another egg, side egg!

The 2015 Castle Lectures - Africa: The Last Frontier for Development – Lecture 3: A Search for Causes: Why has Africa been the “Final Frontier”?
Africa has lagged the rest of the developing world in terms of economic development, health, the establishment of social order, and the consolidation of democracy. For development outcomes, compared to other regions of the world, Africa is the “last frontier”. This lecture series will first survey the dimensions of development failures, and then will identify the historical and political sources accounting for this lag. Finally, it will point to some hopeful trends.

Milwaukee County sheriff joins The Hard Line to explain what he meant when he recently said president Obama "needs to do some soul searching about his failed liberal policies" as it pertains to what lead to the Baltimore riot. Is decade long one-party rule in these major cities the reason that Black America has been failed? How prepared are other cities like Milwaukee for similar events to what we saw in Baltimore?

TD Jakes grew up in Vandalia, West Virginia, attending local Baptist churches. He spent his teenage years caring for his invalid father and working in local industries. Feeling a call to the ministry, he enrolled in West Virginia State University and began preaching part-time in local churches, but he soon dropped out of the university. He took a job at the local Union Carbide and continued preaching part-time. During this time he met his future wife, Serita Jamison. The couple married in 1981. In 1982, Jakes became the pastor of the Greater Emanuel Temple of Faith, a small, Montgomery, West Virginia independent Pentecostal church with about ten members. Over the next few years, the church grew, drawing an integrated congregation that helped increase Jakes' renown as a speaker and pastor. He moved the church twice - from Montgomery to Smithers and then to South Charleston, where the congregation grew from about 100 members to over 300. During this time, he began a radio ministry The Master's Plan that ran from 1982-1985. He also became acquainted with Bishop Sherman Watkins, founder of the Higher Ground Always Abounding Assembly (an association of over 200 Pentecostal churches). Watkins ordained Jakes as a minister of the Higher Ground Assembly and encouraged him to start a church in the Charleston Area. Jakes also used this time to continue his education by studying through correspondence courses from Friends International Christian University, an unaccredited online university. Jakes completed a B. A. and M.A. in 1990, and a Doctor of Ministry in Religious Studies from Friends International Christian University in 1995.
After the 1990 move to Charleston, as his congregation grew, T. D. Jakes began to focus on the spiritual needs of the women in his church who had been abandoned and abused in their lives. He began a Sunday School class for them, "Woman, Thou Art Loosed," in which he encouraged the women to use their past pain as a foundation for new growth. He later started a similar class for men, which he called "Manpower." In 1993, Jakes self-published his first book, drawing on his experiences working with the women of his congregation. Woman, Thou Art Loosed would become Jakes' signature work and a national religious bestseller. He also began a new television ministry, Get Ready, which aired on Black Entertainment Television and the Trinity Broadcasting Network. Also in 1993, Jakes moved his church yet again, to Cross Lanes, West Virginia.
His ministry continued to expand, prompting the founding of the T. D. Jakes Ministries organization to oversee his work beyond the church itself. He continued to write and to publish, spreading his message of spiritual healing to new audiences. In 1994 he held the first of what would become a series of conferences for ministers and their spouses, "When Shepherds Bleed."
In May 1996, Jakes moved his family and his ministry again, as well as fifty other families involved in his work, to Dallas, Texas. There he purchased Eagle's Nest Church, a large Dallas church. Renaming the church The Potter's House, Jakes continued his work. The Potter's House, which was a 5,000 seat auditorium and a 34-acre campus, had grown to a congregation of 14,000.

This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Mississippi's agricultural economy provides a potentially good foundation for innovative, locally sourced food markets. Despite growing demand, local farmers are still missing a system that would allow them to build solid businesses on food crop production. This talk describes a new, ambitious effort to build a "locally invested food trade" in Mississippi.
Born and raised in Edwards, Mississippi, Nick Wallace blends his family-farm origins with sophisticated techniques to create exceptional dining experiences. His culinary philosophy and passion reflects the growing trend towards a healthier lifestyle and an emphasis on home-grown and farm-raised products. Wallace participated in the James Beard Foundation’s third Chefs Boot Camp for Policy & Change in 2013 and has served as chef at The Beard House in New York City on two occasions. He was named to the 2013 “Best Chefs America” list and has appeared on the Food Network’s “Cutthroat Kitchen.”
David Watkins, Jr. worked as a video producer, theater director, project manager and teacher in New York and Los Angeles before returning to Jackson, Mississippi, to become a food entrepreneur. David joined forces with local restaurant professionals to form Soul City Hospitality, a group that is working to satisfy growing demand for fresher, locally sourced food. David is managing the implementation of a $100,000 grant from the USDA to develop the infrastructure for a Mississippi food hub. The group will also create a new Food Innovation Center, which will include a farm-to-table restaurant, grocery, and training center.
About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

http://www.vladtv.com - Established author and analyst Dr. Boyce Watkins is known in the hip-hop industry for voicing his opinion on issues pertaining to the field and not being afraid to do so. Case in point, Lil Wayne, a rapper who Boyce Watkins has had issues with for years.
Most know the story between the two: Dr. Boyce Watkins was fed up with Weezy's often violent and berating lyrics, and after finding out about his deal with beverage company Mountain Dew he contacted them directly and Wayne ultimately lost his deal. Interestingly enough, it was Tyler, the Creator's racially-charged commercial that gave Boyce Watkins the spark he needed to get Wayne's attention, and after getting caught in the crossfire Tyler lost his deal as well. Dr. Boyce Watkins on the other hand, was happy that his plan worked. "It wasn't that I like seeing people lose money, but it was the fact that I needed [Lil Wayne] to understand that you can't just go make your money and say "f*** the whole Black community," Boyce Watkins stated.
When it comes to Tyler, the social commentator has apologized and offered to speak with him one-on-one several times. "I didn't f*** you over Tyler, it was Mountain Dew who f***** you over because they should not have let you just do whatever you want without at least reviewing the political implications of what you were putting out." He says he even gave his number to a mutual friend of theirs to give to the Golf Wang frontman, but unfortunately never received a call.
Watch on as Dr. Boyce Watkins explains yet again why he couldn't deal with Tyler's commercial or Lil Wayne's demeaning lyrics in another exclusive clip with the well-respected social activist.

http://www.vladtv.com - On this week's episode of "The Vlad Couch," insightful rapper David Banner sat with us to chop it up about social injustices in America and what's he doing to make a change that will impact the Black community.
"One of the reasons why I stopped doing hip-hop - up until just recently - was because I had an opportunity to travel internationally. And I got to see the way that America was depicting Black men here...we looked really bad, and I was a real big part of that." The activist took a hiatus from rap to pursue an acting career, but unfortunately, as director Craig Brewer put it, if you're a dark-skinned Black man over six feet tall you'll only be cast as a thug or other negative characters. "I sat in LA for a year and barely got two auditions because I said I didn't wanna play that role again," Banner recalls, telling directors "I don't want to be your n******."
David Banner also chatted with us about police brutality. He and Vlad both agreed that the rate police officers are killing Black men and children hasn't changed for decades, but social media is bringing light to it more than it ever has before. "The original job for a policeman was to catch escaped slaves and protect the property of slave-owners. And it has not changed," he detested. "The only way you're gonna stop police brutality is if those police's lives are threatened, or if something is gonna happen to their children. Or if something is gonna happen to their jobs, their money [or] their lives."
Listen to our latest podcast to hear how David Banner wants to change hip-hop, shed more light on Southern artists and how he contributes to the Black community with his Heal the Hood Foundation above.

"I'm trying to think of a way so that this will have anything to do with what we've talked about before. Imagine you're a hyper-educated avant-gardist in grad school learning to write. Okay. The screen gets all fuzzy now as the viewer is invited to imagine this. Uhm. Coming out of an avant-garde tradition, I get to this grad school and the grad school, turns out all the teachers are realists. There not at all interested in post-, post-modern avant-garde stuff. Now there's an interesting delusion going on here. They, so they don't like my stuff. I believe that it's not because my stuff isn't good, but because they just don't happen to like this kind of aesthetic. In fact, known to them but unknown to me, the stuff was bad. It was indeed bad. So in the middle of all this, hating the teachers but hating them for exactly the wrong reason, uh -- this was spring of 1986, I remember, I remember who I went to see the movie with -- "Blue Velvet" comes out. Uhm. "Blue Velvet" comes out. "Blue Velvet" is, uhm a type of surrealism. It may have some it may have debts: there's a debt to Hitchcock somewhere; but it is an entirely new and original kind of surrealism. It no more comes out of a previous tradition or the post-modern tech- -- it is completely David Lynch. And I don't know how well you or your viewers would remember the film, but there are some very odd : there's a moment where a guy named the Yellow Man is shot in an apartment and then Jeffrey, uh the main character runs into the apartment. The guy's dead but he's still standing there. There's no explanation, you know, he's just standing there. And it is, it's almost classically French, Francophilistically surreal. Uhm and yet it seems absolutely true and absolutely appropriate.
"And there was this -- I know I'm taking a long time to answer your question -- there was this way in which I all of a sudden realized that the point of being post-modern or being avant-garde or whatever wasn't to follow in a certain kind of tradition: that all that stuff is BS imposed by critics and camp followers afterwards; that what the really great artists do, and it sounds very trite to say it out loud, but what the really great artists do is they're entirely themselves. They're entirely themselves. They've got their own vision, their own way of fracturing reality. And that if it's authentic and true, you will feel it in your nerve endings. And this is what "Blue Velvet" did for me. I'm not suggesting it would do it for any other viewer, but I all of a sudd-- Lynch very much helped snap me out of a kind of adolescent delusion that I was in about what sort of avant-garde art could be. And it's very odd because film and books are very different media. But I remember, I remember going with two poets and one other student fiction writer to go see this and then all of us going to the coffee shop afterwards and just, you know, slapping ourselves in the forehead. And it was this truly epiphanic experience."

"No, it's um ... I mean, there's a difference, though, I think, between being mildly bored and but then there's another kind of boredom that I think you're talking about which is um: reading, reading requires sitting alone, by yourself, in a quiet room. And I have friends, intelligent friends, who don't like to read because they get -- it's not just bored -- there's an almost dread that comes up, I think, here about having to be alone and having to be quiet. And you see that when you walk in. When you walk into most public spaces in America it isn't quiet anymore; they pipe music through. And the music's easy to make fun of 'cause it's usually really horrible music. But it seems significant that we don't want things to be quiet, ever, anymore. And, to me, I don't, I don't know that I can defend it, but that seems to me to have something to do with when you feel like the purpose of your life is to gratify yourself and get things for yourself and go all the time, there's this other part of you that's the same part that can kind of, is almost hungry for silence and quiet and thinking really hard about the same thing for maybe half an hour instead of thirty seconds, that doesn't get fed at all. And it makes itself felt in the body in a kind of dread, in here. And I don't know whether that makes a whole lot of sense. But I think it's true that here in the US, every year the culture gets more and more hostile -- and I don't mean hostile like angry -- just, it becomes more and more difficult to ask people to read, or to look at a piece of art for an hour, or to listen, to listen to a piece of music that's complicated and that takes work to understand, because -- well, there are a lot of reasons -- but, particularly now in the computer and internet culture everything's so fast, and the faster things go the more we feed that part of ourselves but don't feed the part of ourselves that likes, that likes quiet, that can live in quiet, you know, that can live without any kind of stimulation. I don't know."

Project Camelot : In Conversation with David Icke
Sedona, Arizona, February 2009
http://projectcamelot.org/david_icke.html
David Icke, one of the most visible, outspoken and controversial speakers and writers about the Illuminati and the New World Order control agenda, will need practically no introduction to most readers of this page.
We've been in touch with David since November 2006, when Camelot was relatively young. We had an interview arranged then, but David had to cancel due to an emergency; and several later attempts to reschedule it all met with logistical problems. Finally - over two years later! - we caught up with him in Sedona, and were able to sit down for a long conversation with him about his life and his work.
This is not an interview specifically about the information he's researched and presents so lucidly in his famous long presentations, and in his many books - all of which are packed with references, anecdotes and encyclopedic detail. It's more about the man behind his mission; what makes him tick, and what keeps him going; the source of his inner resolve; and, notably - anyone who mistakes David for a doomsayer, take note - his vision for Planet Earth: "The idea that this might not all have a successful outcome", he told us, "Never occurs to me."
David's unflinching and remarkable commitment to his cause has made life far easier for many who have come after him - including ourselves. We owe him our own vote of thanks, and in this two hour FutureTalk we pay tribute to his life's work, and to the man who is still standing after all these years, still marching on that road less traveled, determined to present what he suspects is the truth, whatever it is.

James David Graham Niven (1 March 1910 – 29 July 1983)[1][2] was an English actor and novelist who was popular in Europe and in the United States. He may be best known for his roles as Squadron Leader Peter Carter in A Matter of Life and Death, as Phileas Fogg in Around the World in 80 Days and as Sir Charles Lytton, a.k.a. "the Phantom", in The Pink Panther. He was awarded the Academy Award for Best Actor for his performance in Separate Tables (1958).
Born in London, Niven attended Heatherdown Preparatory School and Stowe before gaining a place at the Royal Military College, Sandhurst. After Sandhurst he was gazetted a lieutenant in the Highland Light Infantry. Having developed an interest in acting, he left the Highland Light Infantry, travelled to Hollywood and had several minor roles in film. He first appeared as an extra in the British film There Goes the Bride (1932). From there, he hired an agent and had several small parts in films from 1933 to 1935, including a non-speaking part in MGM's Mutiny on the Bounty. This brought him to wider attention within the film industry and he was spotted by Samuel Goldwyn. Upon the outbreak of the Second World War, Niven returned to Britain and rejoined the army, being re-commissioned as a lieutenant.
Niven resumed his acting career after his demobilisation, and was voted the second most popular British actor in the 1945 Popularity Poll of British film stars. He appeared in A Matter of Life and Death (1946), The Bishop's Wife (1947) and Enchantment (1948), all of which received critical acclaim. Niven later appeared in The Elusive Pimpernel (1950), The Toast of New Orleans (1950), Happy Go Lovely (1951), Happy Ever After (1954) and Carrington V.C. (1955) before scoring a big success as Phileas Fogg in Michael Todd's production of Around the World in 80 Days. Niven appeared in nearly a hundred films, and many shows for TV. He also began writing books, with considerable commercial success. In 1982 he appeared in Blake Edwards' final "Pink Panther" films Trail of the Pink Panther and Curse of the Pink Panther, reprising his role as Sir Charles Lytton.

Video shared by Reza Ganjavi for educational, non-commercial purpose only. This is a great interview with Dr. David Bohm, the great physicist and colleague of Albert Einstein & Jiddu Krishnamurti.
His comment about memory being recorded in the brain is challenged today by Dr. Rupert Sheldrake (a friend of his) who exposed this myth of science in his book Science Set Free. Nevertheless Dr. Bohm makes many brilliant points in this excellent video.

About TEDx:
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized

Some excellent reference material on the PERRO sessions:
http://www.philzone.com/philbase/perro.html
DETAILS
On 8/23/91 a copy of the several PERRO reels were compiled onto a DT 120 DAT on request by Paul to Graham (since the tapes where kept in the latter's vault) for a copy.
When the Crosby, Stills & Nash box-set was being put together, some mystery reels were found.
All of the CSNY tape collection was brought in to one place for the first time, including personal collections of Barncard, Joel Bernstein, Nash and Stills. One of the PERRO tapes had a small pipe with weed in it and somebody smoked it! It was still good.
The material on the PERRO tapes was very interesting, but had nothing to do with CSNY. There were 4 reels of 2 track mixes made in 1971 during the sessions (obviously there is more that has never been mixed). The tapes were put into storage in Nash's vault.
Paul called Nash in 1992 and requested DATs of those tapes. This was the first time they had been outside of the CSNY organization. They were copied at
A&M; Post Production audio and my personal DAT was made at that time.
The roots of PER&RO; go back a lot further than 1971. 1 guess it had its inception in the early years of the '60s (prior to the Airplane, the Byrds et al) when Kantner, Crosby and Freiberg used to hang out, play music, get high and rap together around Venice Beach. That was the initial bond, the start of it all.
