Chazz Palminteri plays Giovanni Falcone, a crusading prosecutor who tried to use money trails as a way to attack the mobsters. He is aided by a former mobster (F. Murray Abraham) who volunteers to turn state's evidence after his sons are killed by a renegade mob chief. With the mobster's help, the prosecutor was able to obtain over 300 convictions.

Joseph Messina l’a retrouvée… Sur 80 pages et sans rature, l’homme a raconté point par point comment il l’a abattue. Elle et son nouveau compagnon, Thierry. Des regrets ? Il n’en a pas. Il n’a simplement pas supporté que la femme de sa vie le quitte. Question d’honneur. Quand Joseph rencontre Magali, c’est le coup de foudre. Il a 21 ans, elle 17. Tout va très vite. Les parents de la jeune fille ont beau ne pas l’apprécier, Joseph s’installe avec sa belle à Chambéry et trois ans plus tard, une petite Victoria voit le jour. Ensemble, ils coulent des jours heureux, mais "José" le père de famille s’est aussi fait une place dans le milieu. En 1990, les policiers le recherchent dans le cadre d’une série de braquages, commis dans la région de Chambéry. Ils le croient en cavale, mais il est sous les verrous, en Italie, pour un hold-up qu’il aurait commis quelques années plus tôt, en Allemagne. En prison, Joseph ronge son frein. Loin de sa femme, il est sûr qu’elle le trompe et cette idée l’obsède. Magali, elle, ne coupe pas les ponts. Elle continue à lui écrire, mais Joseph est loin, et elle se détache. A distance, Magali est pourtant sous pression. Elle se sent surveillée par la famille Messina. Et quand Joseph est extradé et transféré à la prison de Varces, non loin de Chambéry, il exige qu’elle lui rende visite tous les 15 jours. Magali accepte. Elle n’est plus amoureuse, mais elle a peur. Joseph se montre de plus en plus jaloux. Un jour, il la frappe en plein parloir parce qu’elle a oublié de lui ramener du linge propre ! Il est interdit de visite. Une libération pour Magali, bien décidée à changer de vie. Elle vient de rencontrer Thierry avec qui elle projette de s’installer à Lyon. Alors, quand les parloirs reprennent, elle prend son courage à deux mains et annonce à Joseph qu’elle le quitte. A sa grande surprise, il se montre compréhensif. Il accuse le coup et lui demande un dernier service. Il a besoin d’un certificat d’hébergement. Accepterait-elle de l’accueillir quelques jours le temps de se retourner ? Magali accepte et le regrette aussitôt. Joseph sent qu’elle a quelqu’un dans sa vie. Il la harcèle jour et nuit, l’insulte, jure de lui faire la peau et finit par lui tirer les vers du nez, un couteau sous la gorge. Magali prévient la police et se sauve en grand secret avec sa fille, chez un oncle, dans un petit village, près de Brignoles.

Sicily is the largest island in the Mediterranean and is the most diverse region in Italy,a land of gods and natural forces and a place of ancient cultures. Throughout the history of Sicily there have been many battles, rulers, cultures and religions. Prior to Roman rule both the Greeks and the Carthagians fought against each other. Later came the Arabs and the Normans. Catania is Sicily’s second largest city and has been strongly influenced by earthquakes and also the volcanic activity of Mount Etna. Therefore only a few historical remnants have survived. However, after each disaster the city was rebuilt and the result is a Baroque city dominated by fascinating sights full of character and charm. A devastating earthquake in 1693 destroyed the original town of Noto and left it in ruins. Construction of the new town took almost a hundred years until at end of the eighteenth century most of its buildings had been rebuilt. In addition to the geometrical design of its streets the remarkable architectural harmony of the town has been created by much use of ochre-coloured sandstone. The privately-owned train, the Ferrovia Circumetnea, travels around Mount Etna from Catania to Riposto. A couple of kilometres outside Catania there are vast fertile fields. In the background is the mighty and over three thousand metre high Mount Etna, one of the most active and famous volcanoes in the world. Taormina is situated on a rock high above the Ionic Sea. The Teatro Greco was built out of the stone of Monte Tauro in the third century A.D. and five hundred years later it was enlarged by the Romans for gladiatorial battle. The old town ended at Porta Messina whose medieval palaces and villas have been preserved right up until the present day. A few kilometres from Palermo and set within a beautiful bay is Mondello sheltered by the slopes of Monte Pellegrino that contains a grotto, an altar and a pilgrims church, the Santuario Di Santa Rosalia. Here this fascinating journey comes to an end. Sicily is exquisite, an ancient island of both discovery and pleasure.
