Ruptly will be LIVE from the Hmeymim Air Base near Latakia on Wednesday, November 4, as Russian fighter jets conduct sorties against the Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) and other militant targets in Syria.
Russia began conducting airstrikes in Syria since September 30, after the Syrian government officially requested Russian aid. The Syrian Arab Army has made gains on the ground over the last fortnight as Russian airstrikes continue to target militant groups fighting against the government. During the weekend, Syrian troops reinforced their positions near the town of Quneitra in the Golan Heights, which was seized from the Al-Qaeda-linked militant group Jabhat al-Nusra on Sunday.

In Syria, one of the most devastating government air strikes since the war began has killed more than 100 people and injured another 300.
The strikes hit the main market in Douma - a rebel held suburb in Damascus.
Witnesses say more strikes were launched as people rushed to help the wounded. 300 were injured.
The strikes come on the same day that UN humanitarian chief Stephen O'Brien visited Damascus for the first time since his appointment in May.
He met with Syria's Foreign Minister Walid Muallem, who said Syria is committed to meeting the needs of the people.
The strikes also came as a deal for safe passage to civilians fell through.

Vladimir Putin says only the Syrian people can decide if and when to replace President Bashar al-Assad. He made these comments a week before a planned meeting with President Barack Obama. Russia has long held an opposite position from the US and many European powers regarding the leadership of Syria. Pentagon chief Ashton Carter has also said that the United States is ready to cooperate with Russia to resolve the crisis in Syria. Meanwhile, a senior adviser to the Syrian president has said that Russia and the United States have reached a tacit agreement on ending the Syria crisis. German chancellor Angela Merkel also believes Assad should be included in the peace talks.

Iran’s deputy foreign minister says Tehran does not talk about a transitional period in Syria and is only supporting an inclusive government.
Hossein Amirabdollahian made the comments during a meeting with his Syrian counterpart Feisal Miqdad in Tehran. Amirabdollahian said that those who promote the notion of a transitional government in Syria are far from the realities on the ground. The senior Iranian diplomat noted that Iran supports a legal political process, which guarantees the creation of a unity government. Feisal Miqdad for his part spoke about national dialog in his country and said Damascus has so far received no offer from its foreign-backed opposition for political talks. The two sides also discussed the latest developments in the fight against terrorism as well as Iran’s proposal for ending the conflict in the Arab country.

Syria presses ahead with assault against rebels
BEIRUT — The Syrian government and opposition activists say troops backed by Russian airstrikes are pressing ahead with an assault against rebels in central and northern Syria.
The fighting is particularly intense in the central Homs province, with a fresh offensive announced Friday in the northern Aleppo province. The offensives on multiple fronts appear to be aimed at stretching rebel lines and

Alexander Tkachenko, a 60-year-old sea captain, has a front-row view of Russia's military intervention in the Syria conflict: his cargo ship has been languishing off the Syrian coast for nearly three months, surrounded by Russian warships.
Tkachenko, his Russian-owned vessel and his crew of 10 Ukrainian sailors have nothing to do with the conflict, but were stranded after they delivered a cargo of electricity transformers to Syria and then got caught up in a lawsuit.
Being stuck off the shore of a war zone has added extra uncertainty for Tkachenko and his crew as they try to resolve the dispute around their vessel, the UCF-6, and get home.
"The minute someone starts firing I will weigh anchor and leave," the captain told Reuters by phone from on board the ship. "If anything threatens my crew, why should I wait for someone to shoot me?"
So far, he said, the crew has not witnessed any military action but had seen plenty of shipping traffic at the Syrian-government controlled port of Tartous, where Russia leases a naval base.
It is through that port that Russia has been pushing much of the weapons and equipment for a military intervention in Syria that has angered Western powers. Tkachenko said there were three war ships, which he presumed were Russian, anchored at the port, and patrol boats often sailed in the area.
His vessel has been impounded, so is not allowed to sail away. The crews' passports are being held by officials on shore. They are theoretically permitted to leave, but if they go without the ship they could lose their wages.
Several crew members flew home because "they went crazy", the captain said: "What do you think it would be like to look at the same faces for 9 months?"
The rest pass the time reading books, playing cards, watching Arabic television they cannot understand and borrowing each other's films and TV series to watch on laptops.
"We work, we service the equipment, we keep watch," he said.
WELCOME TURNS SOUR
In the midst of a civil war, the commercial dispute that stranded them sounds prosaic. In July, the UCF-6 delivered three electrical transformers to Syria on its way from China to Russia. The Syrian state electric transmission agency said the delivery was late, and sued the ship's owner, Moscow-based United Cargo Fleet, in local court.

Syrian government forces backed by Russian air strikes have launched a fresh offensive against rebels south of the country's second city, Aleppo.
A military source told Reuters news agency that "hundreds" of troops from Hezbollah and Iran were also involved.
Control of Aleppo has been divided between government forces and various rebel groups since 2012.
The Syrian army has launched at least four ground offensives since Russia began air strikes two weeks ago.
They are in a wide stretch of mostly rural territory north of the cities of Homs and Hama, in the rugged northern parts of Latakia province along the coast and now the villages and countryside south of Aleppo.
In a statement the Syrian army said that it had inflicted "heavy losses" on rebel groups, with the help of Russian strikes.
Russia says it is targeting "terrorists", primarily jihadist militants from Islamic State (IS), but Western governments say many strikes have hit civilians and moderate rebel groups.
Drone downed
Despite the intervention of its Russian and Iranian allies, the Syrian regime is unlikely to be able to sustain major offensives on several fronts at the same time, the BBC's Jim Muir reports from Beirut.
It is more likely that the multiple attacks are aimed at keeping the rebels under pressure and off balance, while Russia drops bombs and the Syrian army inches slowly forward, our correspondent says.
In a separate incident, Turkey said it had shot down a drone that intruded into its airspace near the border with Syria.

Russia's air strikes in Syria explained
At the request of al-Assad’s government, Russia has started an air strike campaign over Syria. Moscow stated that they would target extremists groups such as ISIS but so far the air strikes have mainly targeted NATO supported rebels.
Even though most of the mainstream media has put a negative spin of the Russian air strikes, one thing must be put into perspective. None of the external actors involved in the Syrian conflict, are in it for the sake of the Syrian people, democracy or human rights. This is a geopolitical conflict, not a soap opera. Russia is pursuing its own interests in the region, just as the US, Turkey, Iran and Saudi Arabia are respectfully pursuing theirs.
Russia has been engaged in the Syrian conflict since the start. Ever since 2011, Russian diplomats have provided crucial support in favor of the al-Assad government. By casting vetoes, the Russians prevented the adoption of UN resolutions aimed at banning the al-Assad government from the international community. And now, at al-Assad’s request, Putin has launched an air strike campaign in Syria. Since al-Assad’s administration is still the only legal executive authority in the state of Syria, the Russian air strikes are entirely within international laws. So what does Russia hope to achieve in Syria and how do the air strikes fit in the Russian geopolitical design?

The US secretary of state, John Kerry, has said Russia has proposed talks between the two countries’ militaries on the situation in Syria, apparently in response to Washington’s concern over reports of a Russian military buildup there.
Foreign minister Sergei Lavrov made the offer during a phone call on Wednesday, said Kerry, adding that he was in favour of such contacts because the US wants a better idea of what Russia’s current intentions are in Syria. Kerry said Lavrov had told him Russia was only interested in fighting the Islamic State militants.
The White House is also reportedly weighing a meeting between Barack Obama and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin when the latter comes to address the UN later this month.

Reports this week that Russia has expanded a Syrian airfield and is shipping military equipment including half a dozen tanks to the war-torn country have sparked worries that it could be preparing for an offensive in support of President Bashar al-Assad’s regime.
Russian and Syrian officials have portrayed the deliveries as part of existing arms contracts, and Putin pledged on Tuesday to continue sending military aid to the Syrian government, arguing that the refugee crisis in Europe would be even worse if not for his support for Assad.
In the phone call on Wednesday, Kerry said he had warned Lavrov that these actions could worsen the situation. The US has argued for combating Isis by backing moderate Syrian rebels instead of Assad.
“I made clear that Russia’s continued support for Assad risks escalating the conflict and undermining our shared goal of fighting extremism if we do not also remain focused on finding the political solution,” Kerry told reporters. He also said that the United States, which will take in 10,000 Syrian refugees in the next year, could take more steps in this direction in the coming days.

“Sukhoi Su-24M bombers delivered pinpoint strikes against terrorist targets near the city of Aleppo. They took out workshops used by the militant terrorist group to arm vehicles with explosives, which are used in suicide bomb attacks,” Defense Ministry spokesman, Major General Igor Konashenkov stated.
He added that the vehicles were rigged with the explosives were to be used to stage terror attack against Syrian government forces.
The Sukhoi Su-34 and Su-24M bombers, along with a Su-25SM assault aircraft took off from the Khmeimim airbase to take out terrorist command and logistics centers, arms depots and workshops.
An attack by Su-25SM ground-support aircraft near the city of Huraytan with high-explosive bombs completely destroyed an IS arms depot along with their fuel supplies. The same planes were also used to strike a terrorist training center in the Idlib province, which was located in a mountainous area. The facility was completely destroyed.
Russian aircraft also bombed a terrorist workshop some 13 kilometers from Aleppo. The facility was used to repair of armored vehicles and helped to equip SUV vehicles with mortars, heavy machine guns and ZU-23 anti-aircraft artillery

"Since the Russian air force went into action on September 30, we made 669 combat sorties," Colonel General Andrei Kartapolov, a senior Russian General Staff official said in a defence ministry statement.
"In the strikes, 456 targets have been destroyed," he said. "According to the General Staff, we were able to significantly disrupt the militants' infrastructure, supply and control systems of the terrorist groups."
Russia launched a bombing campaign in Syria in support of its longstanding ally President Bashar al-Assad, but it has been criticised by the West for hitting moderate groups rather than Islamic State jihadists.
Kartapolov said the air force is avoiding areas where the Free Syrian Army -- the main Western-backed opposition force -- is believed to be operating.
"We only hit targets of internationally-recognised terrorist groups. Our planes are not working in southern Syria, where, according to our information, the Free Syrian Army groups are located," he said.

ODO PUIU invites you to watch a ….
Bodies of I.S. Forces. Syria Situation.
In the east, the ISLAMIC STATE OF IRAQ AND THE LEVANT (ISIL), a jihadist militant group originating from Iraq, made very rapid military gains in both Syria and Iraq, eventually conflicting with the other rebels. In July 2014, ISIL controlled a third of Syria's territory and most of its oil and gas production, thus establishing itself as the major opposition force.
By July 2013, the Syrian government was in control of approximately 30–40% of the country's territory and 60% of the Syrian population.
A United Nations report in late 2012 described the conflict as being "overtly sectarian in nature", between mostly government forces, militias and other Shia groups fighting largely against SUNNI-dominated rebel groups, although both opposition and government forces have denied it. Due to foreign involvement this conflict has been called a proxy war.
As of April 2014 the death toll had risen above 190,000.
International organizations have accused forces on all sides of severe human rights violations, with many massacres occurring. Chemical weapons have been used many times during the conflict as well.
Government forces are reportedly responsible for the majority of civilian casualties, often through bombings. In addition, tens of thousands of protesters and activists have been imprisoned and there are reports of torture in state prisons.
The severity of the humanitarian disaster in Syria has been outlined by the UN and many international organizations.
More than 6.5 million Syrians have been displaced, more than 3 million Syrians have fled the country to countries such as LEBANON, JORDAN, TURKEY, EGYPT, and IRAQ and become refugees, and millions more have been left in poor living conditions with shortages of food and drinking water.
At the end of August 2014, 35,000 refugees were awaiting registration, while estimates of several hundred thousand more were not included in official figures as they were unregistered.
Russian military intervention in the Syrian Civil War
On 30 September 2015,the Russian Aerospace Forces, at an official request by the Syrian government headed by President Bashar al-Assad,began air strikes against both ISIL and the anti-Assad FSA.Russia claimed that the airstrike destroyed several local headquarters, ammunition storage, logistic infrastructure of IS and anti-Assad forces and about 3,000 militants from Islamic State, al-Nusra and Jaish al-Yarmouk according to Russian sources have retreated to Jordan to avoid possible air strikes.
On 5 October 2015, news media reports suggested that over 40 Syrian anti-government groups, including factions such as Ahrar ash-Sham, Jaysh al-Islam and the Levant Front, vowed to attack Russian forces in retaliation for Moscow's air campaign. Meanwhile, CNN reports claimed U.S. president Barack Obama had a few days prior authorized the resupply of Syrian Kurds and the Arab-Syrian opposition, the President emphasizing to his team that the U.S. would continue to support the Syrian opposition now that Russia had joined the conflict.
On 7 October 2015, Russian officials claimed the ships of the Caspian Flotilla had earlier that day fired 26 sea-based cruise missiles at 11 ISIL targets in Syria destroying those and causing no civilian casualties.
On 8 October 2015, the U.S. officially announced the end of the Pentagon’s $500 million program to train and equip Syrian rebels in an acknowledgment that the program had failed.

Syrian army starts using new weapons from Russia - military source.
The Syrian military has recently started using new types of air and ground weapons supplied by Russia, a Syrian military source told Reuters on Thursday, underlining growing Russian support for Damascus that is alarming the United States.
“Russia is supporting the Syrian government and is ready to offer everything possible to combat terrorism when it becomes necessary,” al-Moallem said. He said Syria will not hesitate to ask for Russia’s help in future if it is needed. His comments were the first by a senior Syrian official on Moscow’s military moves in Syria. He did not elaborate.
Why is Russia sending troops to Syria?
The United States "remains open to tactical, practical discussions" with Russia over the fight against Islamic State in Syria, White House spokesman Josh Earnest said in a briefing.
Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Moallem, speaking in an interview with Syrian TV Thursday evening, said no Russian combat troops were fighting in Syria.
Netanyahu to meet Putin over Russian troop build-up in Syria.
Contrary to the impression conveyed by Moscow that Russian troops in Syria are not engaged in combat and that none of the sophisticated arms deliveries were destined to the Syrian army, new developments belie both these claims.
Russia is deploying forces and equipment to the Syrian coastal city of Latakia to prop up the Syrian government forces fighting the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, known as Isis, and other rebel groups.
"The weapons are highly effective and very accurate, and hit targets precisely," the source said in response to a question about Russian support. "We can say they are all types of weapons, be it air or ground."
Russian troops already engaged in battle against ISIS around Homs.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova confirmed Thursday that Moscow is happy to talk to Washington about its military co-operation with Syria.

Russia can strike positions of Islamic State militants in Syria from its ships based in the Mediterranean Sea anytime should the command decide to do so, a senior Russian general said.
Colonel General Andrey Kartapolov said the Russian warships in the Mediterranean can “definitely” be used to deliver strikes in Syria the way the Russian fleet in the Caspian Sea was already used.
“Our naval group in the Mediterranean is mostly used for supplying goals. But to ensure that our supply lines are not disrobed, we have a group of warships there too. This group also provides antiaircraft protection four our base [in Tartus],” he said in an interview to Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper published on Friday.
General Kartapolov heads Operations in the Russian general staff. He was personally supervising the creation of the so-called coordination center in Baghdad, which Russia, Syria, Iraq and Iran created to share intelligence on terrorist forces and coordinate their war effort. The center plays a big part in fighting the terrorist group Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS or ISIL), the general told the newspaper.
“We realized that doing what the US-led coalition does and only bombing ISIL targets from the air would not allow defeating it. It requires doing things on the ground. The only force [in Syria] that can fight on the ground is the Syrian government army,” he said. “We also had to join the forces of the nations and forces fighting ISIL on the ground to coordinate our effort
He said the US was invited to take part in the center's work, but ignored it, apparently because of hurt pride.

The offensives on multiple fronts appear to be aimed at stretching rebel lines and keeping the insurgents off balance.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said around 42 people were killed in airstrikes and fighting in Homs province. The Local Coordination Committees, an activist network that follows the war, put the number at 57.
Russia began its air campaign Sept. 30, and Syrian troops and allied militiamen launched an ambitious ground offensive a week later.

The Turkish air force has shot down a drone near the border with Syria. It’s not known who the drone belongs to. The military says it gave the aircraft three warnings before it was brought down.
Army launches offensive
The Syrian army has launched an offensive on the city of Aleppo. It’s being backed by Iranian forces and Hezbollah militants. Russia began a military intervention in Syria on September 30th. Moscow says it’s targeting ISIS. The US, Turkey, and several Arab states accuse Russia of using its operations in Syria to attack anti-government rebels. Since Russia’s intervention, the Syrian government has retaken parts of the provinces of Idlib, Hama and Latakia from the rebels.
Protesters & police used ‘extreme violence’
Human Rights Watch says police and protesters both used ‘extreme violence’ during demonstrations in southern Nepal earlier this year. The rights group investigated 16 deaths and found the people killed weren’t posing any threat. More than 40 people died in protests after a draft of Nepal’s new constitution was first introduced. It divides Nepal into seven provinces. Many minority groups feel they’ll be under-represented in parliament
Earliest draft of King James Bible
An American scholar has announced he’s discovered the earliest known draft of the King James Bible in the archives at Cambridge College. The notebook found by Jeffrey Miller dates from 1604 to 1608. The King James Bible was first published in 1611. This version is thought to be the most widely-read book in the English language. Miller says he believes his discovery will help people understand how the Bible “came to be”.

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has defended his government's actions in the region since the uprising against his rule, which erupted in 2011.
In an exclusive interview with the BBC's Middle East Editor Jeremy Bowen, Mr Assad denied that his forces had dropped barrel bombs indiscriminately on rebel-held areas, killing thousands of civilians, and dismissed as propaganda a statement by the UN that his government often blocks access to besieged areas for relief organisations.
The Syrian leader also denied that there was a direct dialogue with the US-led coalition fighting Islamic State but confirmed that "general messages" were sometimes passed via third parties.

The Kremlin says the airstrikes have intensifed this week.
They appear to have provided the Syrian government an opportunity to start a new ground offensive.
Thousands of Iranian troops have reportedly been drafted in to fight alongside Syrian government and Hezbollah forces.
Syrian opposition fighters say they're ready for the fight after being resupplied with US made anti-tank missiles to help turn the tide against the Syrian regime.

Syria War 2015 - Idlib Offensive: Heavy Clashes During The Battle For Jisr al-Shughur. Syrian rebels contiuned their push against government troops in the Idlib and Hama region after they captured the strategic town of Idlib a few weeks ago. Their new offensive aimed to capture the city of Jisr al-Shughur in the Idlib governorote. The fighting for the town was part of the so called "Battle of Victory" that took place in the Idlib and Hama Governorates. In order of the fighting Jisr al-Shughur was captured by the rebels. The success of the battle has been attributed to better coordination between the Syrian opposition's backers.
The offensive on Jisr al-Shughur was launched to cut off the government access to a major highway linking Idlib to Latakia. Several smaller towns in the vicinity where also captured by rebels in order of the battle.
The Jisr al-Shughur offensive has been described as one of the "largest and most ambitious operations of the Syrian civil war" consisting of some 40 opposition groups, with the main goal being to outflank and interdict government troops who were sent to attempt to push back against the 2015 Idlib offensive, which followed the opposition victory at the Second Battle of Idlib.
Free Syrian Army brigades were tasked with spearheading the cutting of Syrian Arab Army supply lines from the west, as well as carrying out secondary attacks against SAA positions across Idlib.
Opposition forces were widely reported to be planning to move on the government's stronghold of Latakia following the capture of Jisr al-Shughur.
After recent rebel victories against the Syrian government, some people began to fear a scenario where (hardline) rebels would swarm Damascus in the near future, despite government reassurances.
The offensive was a joint operation of Free Syrian Army brigades and also hardline rebel groups under the banner of the Army of Conquest on the one side and the Syrian army supported by Hezbollah and the NDF on the other side.
The footage shows mostly fighting from the rebel perspective but however a small amount of SAA footage is also featured in this video.

The Battle of Aleppo is an ongoing military confrontation in Aleppo, Syria between the Free Syrian Army, Islamic Front, People's Defence Units and Sunni militants against the Syrian government, Hezbollah and Shiite militants. The battle began on 19 July 2012 as a part of the Syrian Civil War. The battle's scale and importance led combatants to name it the "mother of battles". The battle has been highly noted for the Syrian army's indiscriminate use of barrel bombs dropped from helicopters, killing thousands. Hundreds of thousands have been forced to evacuate. On the other hand, the London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights denounced the Free Syrian Army for the indiscriminate bombardment of government-held districts, with gas cylinders filled with explosives, which resulted in hundreds of casualties. The battle has also caused catastrophic destruction to the Old City, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Three years ago, an uprising against the Assad regime turned into what looked like a straightforward civil war between Syrian government forces and rebels. However, over time, what had started as a largely secular opposition movement began to take on more of a radical Islamist tone, with two al Qaeda offshoots -- the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS) and Jabhat al-Nusra -- becoming the dominant forces on the ground across the rebel-held North.
One VICE filmmaker managed to secure unprecedented access to both al-Qaeda factions battling Syria's government forces, despite the risk of journalists being kidnapped. This is a remarkable portrait of the foreign volunteers and local Syrians willing to fight and die to establish a new caliphate on Europe's doorstep.

What do Syria, Refugees, Russia, and the Unions of the US, UK, and EU have in common?
They all play pivotal roles in the outcome of the ‘Great Works’ plan of the New World Order.
That is the creation of a ‘Super Union’ or ‘Great Union’ that incorporates the US (and Canada as the North American Union), the UK, the EU, and the planned and almost ready ‘North African and Middle Eastern Union’.
This Great Union, or New World Order, will be overseen by the UN, and will usher in the slavery of all the peoples within this new Union. It is the closest the world has been to a one-world government and unified people with one voice, since Nimrod.
Only Russia has the power to prevent this from taking place today.
By holding on to Syria, the Russians are preventing the completion of the ‘Great Works’.
To the NWO guys, it will be either WW3 or the subjugation and incorporation of Russia into the New World Order. Failure to complete the Great Works is not an option to them. They will complete it or destroy the world trying.
Russia are prepared to go all the way and prevent thier incorporation into the NWO. The scene is set for a showdown of epic proportions, the outcome of which may only be witnessed by a handful of survivors.

Part 1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9zkchsZhcPQ
The Syrian Civil War (Arabic: الحرب الأهلية السورية), also known as the Syrian Uprising, is an ongoing armed conflict taking place in Syria. The unrest began in the early spring of 2011 within the context of Arab Spring protests, with nationwide protests against President Bashar al-Assad's government, whose forces responded with violent crackdowns. The conflict gradually morphed from popular protests to an armed rebellion after months of military sieges.[71]
The armed opposition consists of various groups that were formed during the course of the conflict, primarily the Free Syrian Army, which was the first to take up arms in 2011, and the Islamic Front formed in 2013. In 2013, Hezbollah entered the war in support of the Syrian army.[72][73] In the east, the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), a jihadist militant group originating from Iraq, made very rapid military gains in both Syria and Iraq, eventually conflicting with the other rebels. In July 2014, ISIL controlled a third of Syria's territory and most of its oil and gas production, thus establishing itself as the major opposition force.[74]
By July 2013, the Syrian government was in control of approximately 30–40% of the country's territory and 60% of the Syrian population.[75] A United Nations report in late 2012 described the conflict as being "overtly sectarian in nature", between mostly Alawite government forces, militias and other Shia groups[76] fighting largely against Sunni-dominated rebel groups,[77][78] although both opposition and government forces have denied it.[79][80] Due to foreign involvement this conflict has been called a proxy war.[81]
As of April 2014 the death toll had risen above 190,000.[82] International organizations have accused forces on all sides of severe human rights violations, with many massacres occurring.[83][84] Chemical weapons have been used many times during the conflict as well.[85][86] Government forces are reportedly responsible for the majority of civilian casualties, often through bombings.[87] In addition, tens of thousands of protesters and activists have been imprisoned and there are reports of torture in state prisons.[88]

The United States has been taken by surprise as Russia deploys tactical military equipment and troops to Syria to help resolve the years-long crisis in the country. Russia has reportedly sent artillery units and tanks as well as dozens of personnel to Syria. US defence officials say Russia has moved fighter jets to a base near Latakia.
The United States has expressed concern over Russia's moves to support the government of Bashar al-Assad against a foreign-backed militancy in Syria. Meanwhile, Russia continues to be a significant world geo-political player in order to find solutions and peace in the Middle East.
Moscow says its military moves in Syria are meant to fight the DAESH that has seized large areas of the country. Russia’s commitment to the Syrian government, however, runs counter to current US policy, which calls for the ouster of President Assad.
In addition, the United States is considering a major overhaul of its efforts to train militants in Syria purportedly to fight DASEH, looking for alternatives to prevent the programme from totally collapsing.
Citing US defence officials, The Wall Street Journal reported that the Pentagon has proposed a plan to replace the $500 million “train-and-equip” programme with a more modest effort.
