iConcerts - John Mayall - 70th Birthday Concert http://www3.iconcerts.com/concert/john-mayall-70th-birthday-concert Back in the summer of 2003, the father of British blues, John Mayall, celebrated his 70th birthday by fulfilling a long-standing dream of his to bring together some of his old Bluesbreakers' bandmates for an unforgettable live concert event. The 70th Birthday Concert was recorded on July 19, 2003 in Liverpool, England, and was also a benefit for UNICEF's fight against child exploitation. Along with Clapton, who played with Mayall on the landmark 1966 Bluesbreakers with Eric Clapton album, former Mayall and Rolling Stones guitarist Mick Taylor also showed up to wish the old man a happy birthday and lend his fretboard skills to a few numbers.

Syracuse 2015-03-18John Mayall, OBE (born 29 November 1933) is an English blues singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, whose musical career spans over fifty years. In the 1960s, he was the founder of John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers, a band which has included Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce, Peter Green, John McVie, Mick Fleetwood, Mick Taylor, Don "Sugarcane" Harris, Harvey Mandel, Larry Taylor, Aynsley Dunbar, Hughie Flint, Jon Hiseman, Dick Heckstall-Smith, Andy Fraser, Johnny Almond, Walter Trout, Coco Montoya and Buddy Whittington.
Mayall's father was Murray Mayall, a guitarist and jazz music enthusiast. From an early age, John was drawn to the sounds of American blues players such as Leadbelly, Albert Ammons, Pinetop Smith, and Eddie Lang, and taught himself to play the piano, guitars, and harmonica.
Mayall spent three years in Korea for national service and, during a period of leave, he bought his first electric guitar. Back in Manchester, he enrolled at Manchester College of Art (now part of Manchester Metropolitan University) and started playing with semi-professional bands. After graduation, he obtained a job as an art designer but continued to play with local musicians. In 1963, he opted for a full time musical career and moved to London. His previous craft would be put to good use in the designing of covers for many of his coming albums.
Eric Patrick Clapton, CBE, (born 30 March 1945) is an English guitarist and singer-songwriter. Clapton is the only three-time inductee to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame: once as a solo artist, and separately as a member of The Yardbirds and Cream. Clapton has been referred to as one of the most important and influential guitarists of all time. Clapton ranked second in Rolling Stone magazine's list of the "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time" and fourth in Gibson's Top 50 Guitarists of All Time.
In the mid 1960s, Clapton departed from the Yardbirds to play blues with John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers. In his one-year stay with Mayall, Clapton gained the nickname "Slowhand". Immediately after leaving Mayall, Clapton formed Cream, a power trio with drummer Ginger Baker and bassist Jack Bruce in which Clapton played sustained blues improvisations and "arty, blues-based psychedelic pop." For most of the 1970s, Clapton's output bore the influence of the mellow style of J.J. Cale and the reggae of Bob Marley. His version of Marley's "I Shot the Sheriff" helped reggae reach a mass market. Two of his most popular recordings were "Layla", recorded by Derek and the Dominos, another band he formed and Robert Johnson's "Crossroads", recorded by Cream. A recipient of seventeen Grammy Awards, in 2004 Clapton was awarded a CBE for services to music. In 1998, Clapton, a recovering alcoholic and drug addict, founded the Crossroads Centre on Antigua, a medical facility for recovering substance abusers.
Robert William Gary Moore (4 April 1952 – 6 February 2011), was a Northern Irish musician, most widely recognised as a blues singer and guitarist.
In a career dating back to the 1960s, Moore played with artists including Phil Lynott and Brian Downey during his teens, leading him to memberships with the Irish bands Skid Row and Thin Lizzy on three separate occasions. Moore shared the stage with such blues and rock luminaries as B.B. King, Albert King, Colosseum II, George Harrison and Greg Lake, as well as having a successful solo career. He guested on a number of albums recorded by high profile musicians, including a cameo appearance playing the lead guitar solo on "She's My Baby" from Traveling Wilburys Vol. 3.
Moore started performing at a young age, having picked up a battered acoustic guitar at the age of eight. He got his first quality guitar at the age of 14, learning to play the right-handed instrument in the standard way despite being left-handed. He moved to Dublin in 1968 at the age of 16. His early musical influences were artists such as Albert King, Elvis Presley, The Shadows and The Beatles. Later, having seen Jimi Hendrix and John Mayall's Bluesbreakers in his home town of Belfast, his own style was developing into a blues-rock sound that would be the dominant form of his career in music.
Baby it's no use, like yesterday's dreams
That we were lovers now you're gone
When you're alone, waiting by the phone
Give me a call, I'll be there
Baby, we've been lovers, so many years
So hard to break up now, all those tears
I still care, so much more to share
Oh, sometimes I could cry
Woman I could just lay down and die
Oh, sometimes I could cry
Woman I could just lay down and die
Well if you listen to the story now
My pal Buddy will tell you the reason why
My baby needs and she love me
In the evenin' when I come home
Whoa, my baby needs and she love me
In the evenin' when I come home, oh yes
But seems like everything I do
Everything I do is wrong
I used to have plenty money
The finest clothes in town
Nothin' ever got in my way until
You come to get me down
I'm say'n mercy, mercy, mercy baby
Ooh have mercy on me, oh yes
I'll always love you darlin'
No matter what you do
Now listen closely baby
I'll try to change my ways
Don't go kickin' up trumped up troubles
Worry all my days
Mercy mercy mercy baby
Good God mercy be all around
Yes you know I'll be right there
Well, I can't quit you baby, but I got to put you down
for awhile
Well, you know, I can't quit you baby, but I got to put
you down for awhile
Well, you know, you messed up my happy home baby, made me
mistreat my only child
Yes, you know I love you, baby, my love for you I'll
never hide
Oh, you know I love you, baby, my love for you I'll never
hide
Yes, you know I love you, baby, well you just my ordered1
size
Well, I'm so tired I could cry, I could just lay down and
Oh, I'm so tired I could cry, I could just lay down and
Yes, you know you my only darling, you know you my desire
When you hear me moaning and groaning, you know it hurts
me deep down inside
Oh, when you hear me moaning and groaning, you know it
hurts me deep down inside
When you hear me holler , baby, oh, you know your my
The taxman came knockin' on my door,
I said I already gave, he said he wanted some more
Then my house burned down on a hot summer day,
When I saw the smoke clear, didn't know what to say,
But come what may, I guess I'll be ok,
I can't complain
Got me a broken leg, actin' like a fool,
Jumped off my balcony and missed the pool
Now my doctor's tellin' me that I'm eatin' too much fat
Sayin' high cholesterol just ain't where it's at (not how can Mr. Mo just aim where it's at)
They ask me any day, tell you what I say
I can't complain
My car's a lemom now (not 11 now), it's just broken down,
For the 100th time, I can't get across town
I never got invited to a Grammy show,
If my luck ever changes, I really don't know
Ask me any day, tell you what I say,
I can't complain
It's how you look at it, your attitude
You can't get through life without gratitude
You can always make a list of what 's going wrong,
But your list of blessings will be 2 as long
Don't know if this song will ever make the chart,
Don't know what machines are gonna fall apart
But I know for certain I can talk about the blues
One thing's for sure, you know I paid my dues
Ask me any day, tell you what I say,
You know it ain't right just to treat me this a way.
Well, you know it ain't right just to treat me this a way.
Well, you know, my baby, have you home one day.
You know it ain't right just to treat me like you do.
Well, you know it ain't right just to treat me like you do.
Well, you know, my baby, coming home to you.
You know it ain't right, baby, stay out all night long.
Well, you know it ain't right, baby, stay out all night long.
I'm your witchdoctor, got the evil eye,
Got the power of the devil, I'm the conjuror guy.
Gonna teach you love at the midnight hour,
Gonna feel you burning like a passion flower.
Hey hey, hey hey hey, hey. Hey hey, hey hey hey, hey.
Your witchdoctor, your witchdoctor, got my eyes on you.
I was born in the country and I lived in the trees.
I got my voodoo from the birds and the bees.
Gonna teach you love at the midnight hour,
Gonna feel you burning, little passion flower.
Hey hey, hey hey hey, hey. Hey hey, hey hey hey, hey.
Your witchdoctor, your witchdoctor, got my eyes on you.
I got my mean old spell on you
I got my mean old spell on you
I'm gonna fight for you, J.B.
Your passing made so many cry
I'm gonna fight for you, J.B.
Your passing made so many cry
But you are resting now from struggle
Up in God's land beyond the sky
Well, I believe you got a bad deal
And that's something I want put right
I believe you got a bad deal
And that's something I want put right
Well, I wanna people hear your blues
And keep them thinking day and night
Well, you are born in Mississippi
And now you're laid to rest out there
You were born in Mississippi
And now you're laid to rest out there
But I'm gonna fight for you, J.B.
You're a pretty girl, I'm a stranger
But I've got feelings for you to hear
I've been travelling around for days
But sweet angels don't often appear
I saw you in the crowd
But I was not allowed to have you near
I was listening to your vioce
I heard your name was Caroline
But you had another man by your side
And I wished that you were mine
Precious hours went by
Before I had to try and leave you behind
Hills and rivers seperate us
And my words were all in vain
You were only my magic dream
Lightning flash in the falling rain
But wherever I may be
Gypsy woman told my mother 'fore I was born,
Since you got a boy-child comin', gonna be a son of a
gun.
Gonna make pretty womens jump and shout,
And then the world wanna know what this all about.
Hey ...
Everybody knows I'm here.
Lord, I'm the hoochie coochie man.
Everybody knows I'm here.
I got the black cat bone and I got a mojo too.
I got the Johnny Concherroo, gonna mess with you.
I'm gonna make you girls lead me by my hand,
And then the world will know the hoochie coochie man.
Chorus
On the seventh hour, on the seventh day,
On the seventh month, seven doctors say,
"He was born for good luck, that you'll see."
I got seven hundred dollars; don't you mess with me!
You got to help me
I can't do it all by myself
You got to help me, baby
I can't do it all by myself
You know if you don't help me darling
I'll have to find myself somebody else
I may have to wash
I may have to sew
I may have to cook
I might mop the floor
But you help me babe
You know if you don't help me darling
I'll find myself somebody else
When I walk, walk with me
When I talk, you talk to me
Oh baby, I can't do it all by myself
You know if you don't help me darling
I'll have to find myself somebody else
Help me, help me darlin'
Bring my nightshirt
Put on your morning gown
Bring my nightshirt
Put on your morning gown
Darlin I know we stripped bare
WRITTEN BY: John Mayall
I would never tell you marry
If you found yourself in love
and saw that love returned
That's no one else's business
So why would you be signing up a contract with the world
So long as you don't marry
You will always have the freedom and choice to be in love
If you sign up for the preacher
When love's emotions are taking control
You've bought legal involvements
If your love dies and bitterness is the toll
Marriage institution's madness
Mama, mama please talk to your daughter 'bout me
Mama, mama please talk to your daughter 'bout me
She made me love her and I ain't gonna leave her be
You should talk to your daughter (talk, talk)
You should talk to your daughter (talk, talk)
You should talk to your daughter (talk, talk)
You should talk to your daughter (talk, talk)
She made me love her and I ain't gonna leave her be
I ain't gonna stand no quitting and she won't have me
around
I ain't gonna stand no quitting and she won't have me
around
If she got me a ride, she'd be six feet in the ground
You should talk to your daughter (talk, talk)
You should talk to your daughter (talk, talk)
You should talk to your daughter (talk, talk)
You should talk to your daughter (talk, talk)
She made me love her and I ain't gonna leave her be
You should talk to your daughter (talk, talk)
You should talk to your daughter (talk, talk)
You should talk to your daughter (talk, talk)
I had a bit of bad luck
Something I would never plan
Got a little trouble
Help me any way you can
I'm out of circulation
So take me to your medicine man
Loving is a gamble
Never knowing who to choose
Find yourself a winner
Then you find you picked to lose
Now I've gone and lost
And I don't want no "Told you so's"
Maybe you were lucky
Fatal beauty, the chokin' kind
Dangerous feeling in this heart of mine
How can you love me
And treat me so unkind
You got me floppin' like a fish in a pan
Ain't no way to treat your man
Maydell
Baby won't you please love me
Oh Maydell, sure put the squeeze on me
I don't know why I love you,
You put me through hell
I can't break your spell, Maydell
Fire spreads quick through the neighborhood
Talk is cheap when the story's good
Nobody said you did, but everybody said that you would
You got me feelin' like a dog, chasin' his tail
I know I'll never catch you - you play the game too
well
Maydell
Baby won't you please love me
Oh Maydell, sure put the squeeze on me
Well I don't know why I love you,
You put me through hell
I can't break your spell, Maydell
Every time I try to walk away,
Just walk away
You bat them eyes, beg me to stay,
Honey won't you stay
Ruby red lips, callin' my name
Forget about the sorrow and the shame
Maydell
Well every time I try to walk away,
Ooo just walk away
You bat them eyes, beg me to stay,
Honey won't you stay
Ruby red lips, callin' my name
Forget about the sorrow and the shame
Maydell
Baby won't you please love me
Oh Maydell, sure put the squeeze on me
Well I don't know why I love you,
You put me through hell
I can't break your spell
Maydell
Baby won't you please love me
Oh Maydell, sure put the squeeze on me
Well I don't know why I love you,
You put me through hell
I can't break your spell
Can't break the spell
Can't break the spell, Maydell
Ohhh
I read about her in a magazine
The writer painted her in colors of a queen
Other people said bad things instead
So I was curious to check out what I read
But asking around she couldn't be found
Strange, elusive Miss James!
Two weeks later I was down the Shrine
Saw a pretty girl who would suit me fine
Rushing around we forgot to trade names
I didn't connect her with the one I called Miss James
I was surprised when I realized
The two were one and the same
I had the phone company give her number to me
I called her at home, she said she was alone
Would she see me tonight?
When I was a boy of eleven years I never saw my pa
Never understood what divorces were I hadn't grown that far
Loading our belongings on a little horse and cart
Mama said that she and daddy were now apart
These are the things I still remember from so long ago
Going to the seaside once a year, castles in the sand
Going to the fairground with my pennies counted in my hand
Going to the circus crying if I saw a clown
Walking on my six foot stilts and never falling down
These are the things I still remember from so long ago
Yelling at my brother, he's in hiding, won't play in the snow
Everything I do he just won't follow, doesn't want to go
Playing in the fields pretending I'm a Buccaneer
Threw a sword, accidentally hit him in the ear
These are the things I still remember from so long ago
Playing up the garden always building huts of turf and mud
Playing in the woods when an owl attacked me, mopped away the blood
Blowing up a rubber boat and patching up the holes
Falling in the water, dripping wet and catching colds
My pretty girl is sitting in her room of red
My pretty girl lying on her furry bed
Pretty as the moonlight
I only want to treat her right
My pretty girl doing something to her hair
My pretty girl dressing up with special care
Pretty as the moonlight
I only want to treat her right
My pretty girl making me feel her man
My pretty girl hugging me when she can
Pretty as the moonlight
I only want to treat her right
My pretty girl sleeping in the still of night
My pretty girl glowing in the candlelight
Pretty as the moonlight
Me and my children
Together once in a while
We go walking and talking
Seeing them smile and
Run and play
Reading their minds
Ever growing wiser
What to do
We'll go to the zoo
Right now
Lions and tigers are eating
Don'tcare that we stand and see
As we pass by their bars to the next attraction
The horses the birds in their cages
Such a shame thay can't be free
Like me and my children
Me and my children
So happy in the times that we ride in the day
And at night there's always a meal and a show
And then we go to the point where we say
Farewell to remember
When I go my love stays
I saw her walking down the street
the little girl she looked so sweet
I followed her for half a mile
I had to stop and talk a while
I was looking back to see
If she was looking back to see
If I was looking back at her
She had a yellow golden hair
and colour followed everywhere
She had a wiggle when she walk
I wanted her to stop and talk
You know that I was looking back to see
If she was looking back to see
If I was looking back at her
- Guitar Solo -

Long gone midnight
And I want my woman so bad
No use waiting for her
She won't come, I call that sad
Long gone midnight
And it's a cold wait till the dawn
Sometimes love can make you wish
That you had never been born
Long gone midnight
And I miss her though she don't care
When you've just lost your lover
There's nowhere to go
you got some money child and I got mine don't say you're this heavy if you ain't tried mine so shake up your silver, god at your crime I 'll save your celebration if you buy my time
don't tell me about your troubles baby I got mine when all I wanna talk about, is loving you blind
Don't tell me death is easy when I'm dying so slow, go tell him to your doctor what you're paying for It's an all one here be rolling, round on the floor they say that I don't hear I just don't listen no more
so you can go ahead and shoot yourself, I don't mind when all I wanna talk is loving you blind.
I can connect go out and see the stars at night when I'm asking someone lucky having seen them right mail order mystics never had it so good you go ahead and listen like I knew your world
but how this conversation lay by my side when all I wanna talk about is loving you blind you got some money child and I got mine don't say you're this heavy if you ain't tried mine so shake up your silver, god at your crime I 'll save your celebration if you buy my time
don't tell me about your troubles baby I got mine when all I wanna talk about, is loving you blind

Dissatisfaction all around The world is shifting under ground Why unemployment, where can prosperity be found?
Unanswered questions that run thru my mind and bring me down.
Why this country has to fight? What foolish reason makes me cry? Killing is atrocity, why can't the worldwide governments see the light? Unanswered questions that seldom ever settle overnight!
(SOLOS)
Yeah, it hurts yeah it hurts
The poison’s gonna cramp my style
Stand back baby, Love will have to wait awhile
You can see, you can see
My rocket’s gonna hit the ground
Stand back baby,
Love will have to wait around
Yeah it makes me laugh, and it makes me cry
I need a shot to keep me dry
Stand back baby,
Love will have to say goodbye
>breakYeah it makes me laugh and it makes me cry
I need a shot to keep me dry
Stand back baby
Got to fly tomorrow
Got to pack my gear
Re-adjust my mind
My time is near
Fly tomorrow
Got to pack up my gear
Fly tomorrow
Now my time is drawing near
Fly tomorrow
Get ready for the change
Living back at home
Gonna be so strange
Fly tomorrow
Living back home
Is gonna be strange
Got to fly tomorrow
Got to be goodbye
'Fore tomorrow's over
I'll be in the sky
Fly tomorrow
Well, it's got to be goodbye
Fly tomorrow
I'll be way up in the sky
Way up in the sky
Way up in the sky
Way up in the sky
Way up in the sky
In the sky
If I don't love you baby,
grits ain't groceries,
eggs ain't poultry,
and Mona Lisa was a man.
All around the world
I'd rather be a fly
and light on my baby's head,
I'll stay with that
woman 'til I die.
A toothpick in my hand,
I dig a 10-foot ditch
and ride through the jungle
fightin' lions with a switch,
because ya' know I love ya' baby,
well, you know I love you baby,
and if I don't love you baby,
grits ain't groceries,
eggs ain't poultry,
and Mona Lisa was a man.
Well, it's all around the world and I got
blisters on my feet
a-tryin' to find my baby,
a-bring her back to me.
If you see my baby,
I know she'll be convinced.
If it don't send her back to me,
it just
don't make no sense,
because ya' know I love ya' baby,
well, you know I love you baby.
If I don't love you baby,
grits ain't groceries and eggs ain't poultry,
and Mona Lisa was a man.
Well,
all around the world
I never will forget
I lost all my money, my woman and my pet,
but I got to have you baby,
I got to settle for nothin' less,
give up all my good time for the sake of happiness,
because ya' know I love ya' baby,
you know,
you know I love you baby.
If I don't love you baby,
grits ain't groceries,
eggs ain't poultry,
and Mona Lisa was a man.
I said, if I don't love you baby,
grits ain't groceries,
eggs ain't poultry,
and Mona Lisa must-a
Mona Lisa was a man.
Well,
if I don't love ya' baby,
I don't love you baby,
if I don't love you baby,
grits ain't groceries,
and eggs ain't poultry,
and Mona Lisa was a man.
Have you heard about my baby?
Yes, how I love her you don't know.
Have you heard about my baby?
How I love, how I love her you don't know.
I declare it hurt me so bad,
Yes, when I heard she'd got to go.
Have you heard about my baby?
Yes I tried, yes I tried, but I let her down.
Heard about my baby?
Ooh yes, I tried and I let her down.
Ooh, she burned me with her love,
Yes, no other, no other will wear her crown.
Yes, indeed.
Have you heard about my baby?
Where she gone, where she gone, I just don't know.
Yes, have you heard about my baby?
Ooh, where she gone, where she gone, I just don't know.
Well, if you should see my baby,
Yes, please tell her that I love her so.
I've been talkin about with heartache
a pillow bringin wet in tears
i found a girl and she's breakin my heart
and i don't know if she really cares
darling i can't live in my lonely place
you know she's so far away,i dream about her angel face
every morning we've spent together, each moment is a
precious thing
i wanna tell her about the all her love in my heart
and she may never see me again
darling i can't live in my lonely place
you know she's so far away,i dream about her angel face
noone in this world can help me,if i can never be free
hear me confess all my feelings for you, imagine that you
love me
darling i can't live in my lonely place
It's a mean old scene
When it comes to double crossing time
It's a mean old scene
When it comes to double crossing time
When you think you got good buddies
They will spin around and cheat you blind
Double crossing man is mean
He will try to make it so you lose
Double crossing man
He will try to make it so you lose
You'll fill your mind with worry
Lay awkae at night
Oh so low Ive been troubled
Cant keep a job
Im layed off and havin double trouble
Hey, Hey, you can make it if you try
Baby, Thats no lie
Livin in generations of millionaries
hard for me to keep decent clothes to wear.
Laugh at me walkin
I have no where to go
Bad luck and trouble has taken me
Got no money show.
WRITTEN BY: John Mayall
The clock in the bedroom is chiming, measuring time
The woman I love is beside me, everthing's fine
Dream with me 'till the night is through
We will leave our bodies, I wonder where we're going to
Sailing a ship in the darkness, we're in the sea
Images getting distorted, where can you be
Dream with me 'till the night is through
We will leave our bodies, I wonder where we're going to
Dreamed I was climbing a mountain, up to the sky
Dropped to the top and discovered, knew how to fly
Dream with me 'till the night is through
We will leave our bodies, I wonder where we're going to
If I could only remember all of my dreams
I'd have a story to tell, all that I've seen
Dream with me 'till the night is through
There was nothing like that first time
I was alone with you
And the glow of your eyes told me love
Sweet perfume in your hair
There was nothing like the way
Time went by as we lay by the fire
And the burning logs flickered flames
That drew us close without a sound
First time I was alone with you
Your bed was so soft with your sweet whispering
Your fingers explore my burning skin
Gentle as a butterfly
No matter how many things we've known together
There will never be such a peace
Like that first time
Well I don't need you hangin' round my door
Tryin' to drag me back down to the shore
And I ain't gonna drink your dirty water no more
Well I got wet from my head down to my legs
And I drank dirty water down to the dregs
But I won't do it again I don't care who begs
Dirty water - now what's that for
Dirty water - I ain't drinkin' no more
I ain't drinkin' no more
You got a lie underneath your tongue where it
can't be seen
And you want to put the truth on guillotine
But you might as well put out a fire with gasoline
Well you can serve dirty water from a golden cup
You can try to lock up the truth but the door won't shut
'Cause the truth just keeps comin' out like blood from a cut
Chorus
You can try to sweeten dirty water up with grenadine
But I can still read you just like a magazine
And I ain't gonna drink no more till the water runs clean
Chorus
Baby you got the kind of love that I can't afford
And I don't have a taste for what's in that glass you poured
Well, tell me woman who you're with tonight
If you're on your own then that's alright
But if you don't want me with you
Don't waste my time with your jive
In this big city I'm high and dry
I just can't make out though I try
So if you don't want me with you
Don't waste my time with your jive
Do you have a place where we could go?
Or does your mother want you home?
Don't waste my time I ain't got long
'Cause it's hard to find a woman
When you know, you'll soon be gone
So break the rules and tell me yes
I'll prove to you that love is best
But if you don't want me with you
There's a new generation
Who would ever have guessed
All around the world
And I must confess
When I was just a young lad I wished I could be playing the Blues
Now it's the twenty fist century
We've come a long way
Give a kid some Blues heros
They're learning to play
To make a contribution look at all kids with the Blues
When you hear that lick
You better catch on quick
Ain't that a kick
We've got the kids turning on to the Blues
It's the same in every concert
Check out the front row
Parents with their children
Watching them grow
All around the world
It won't be long before they're playing the Blues
When you hear that lick
You better catch on quick
Now ain't that a kick
We've got the kids turning on to the Blues
It's a heavy stimulation
Don't need a new drug
The kid's on a mission
Catching that bug
All around the world I hear the sound of kids playing the Blues
When you hear that lick
You better catch on quick
Now ain't that a kick
We've got the kids turning on to the Blues
Now isn't that a kick
Each and every morning
When the sun is high
I hunt around the Canyon
Till I find a place to lie
Oh, oh, it's so beautiful to be alone
Got the sun and trees and silence
I'm in my Laurel Canyon home
Looking back a century
I look at where I stand
It must have looked the same as when
Apaches roamed the land
Now the sun is sinking
It's time to reminisce
Here's a way of living
Gon' tell you a story, stick around
A man I know found us out
John Lee Hooker, he's the boogie king
If you have music, hear it ring
John Lee Boogie, king of the boogie
John Lee Boogie, oh, do the boogie
Just clap your hands, tell your friend
Raise your voices till the end
Groove into it, stomp your feet
John lee boogie, can't be beat
John Lee Boogie, king of the boogie
John Lee Boogie, oh, do the boogie
Feel that spirit in your soul
Boogie children, let it roll
That's my story, hear me say
For John Lee Hooker, boogie king
John Lee Boogie, king of the boogie
I never realized that you were in pain.
I wanna help you honey, let me see you again.
Hurts my soul, babe, when I find you feeling rough.
Life is so bad, baby, when I find the key to love.
Put a smile on your face and dry away your tears.
Life is bound to get better as you live your years.
Hurts my soul, babe, when I find you feeling rough.
Life is so bad, baby, when I find the key to love.
Somewhere in this world, the one you waited for
Come along and find you, turn the key your door.
Hurts my soul, babe, when I find you feeling rough.
This town is like a jungle
As somebody rightly said
A friend of mine was walking home one night
And somebody killed her dead
Cut down by a junkie
Coz she would not go to bed
That's life in the jungle
Somebody's got a knife
You better get yourself a gun
The junkie on the corner
He ain't havin' any fun
He just might decide to kill you
And you won't be the only one
That's life in the jungle
I can hear the streets a callin'
Every time the sun goes down
When nighttime starts a fallin'
I wanna walk the streets of town
The night time is calling me
To come out and hear the sound
Of life in the jungle
Just the other night
I was walkin' all alone
Suddenly I found myself
Standing next to my dead friend's home
And somewhere in the darkness
I could hear the jungle moan
You're gonna be mine, little girl
You've been through 18 years of pain
You're gonna be mine, little girl
You've been through 18 years of pain
I'm gonna give you a love, child
You won't feel bad again
You've been mistreated, little girl
But I swear, I swear it'll be outgrown
You've been mistreated, little girl
But I swear, but I swear it'll be outgrown
I'm gonna give you a love, child
Something you've never known
You're gonna be mine, little girl
Even if I can't have you by my side
You're gonna be mine, little girl
Even if I can't have you by my side
You're gonna remember the love, child
The time must surely come
For the laws to fit the times
The time must surely come
For the laws to fit the times
But while the law is standing
You've got to open up your minds
It seems to be the fashion
To say you're right and they are wrong
It seems to be the fashion
To say you're right and they are wrong
But if you don't see both sides
You'll find yourself in jail 'fore long
You're screaming at policemen
But they're only doing a gig
You're screaming at policemen
But they're only doing a gig
Try and take the time
To figure out how the issue got that big
Lenny Bruce was trying to tell you
Many things before he died
Lenny Bruce was trying to tell you
Many things before he died
Like don't throw rocks at policemen
But get the knots of law untied
Every time you're holding
You are guilty of a crime
Every time you're holding
You are guilty of a crime
The laws must change one day
It was little Christine who was leapin' all on my mind
She give me all the action a man most want to find
She was leapin' every night and I'm leapin' all down the line
She was leapin' every day, leapin' every night
Just outside of Fort Worth, Texas, one ninety-nine
There's a rundown strip of night clubs, been there for a long, long time
Get on, now, towards Jacksboro, do you see the neon flashin'?
Hell, man, they got it all there, if you're lookin' for some action
They got the Craps game at the Black Cat, strip tease at the Duce
And over at the Skyline, it's always loud and loose
The winos bummin', the rich folks slummin'
Watch out, man 'cos the cops ain't comin' down to
Jacksboro Highway, Jacksboro Highway
Jacksboro Highway, there's always something goin' down
You better watch your back, boy, you better cover your bets
The further down that road you go, the rougher it's gonna get
Remember standin' at the [Incomprehensible] lounge
Broken glass and blood on the ground
Better forget every thing you see
Even if it's murder in the first degree
Out on Jacksboro Highway, Jacksboro Highway
Out on Jacksboro Highway
Always somethin' goin' down
The winos bummin', the rich folks slummin'
Watch out, man 'cos the cops ain't comin' to
Jacksboro Highway, Jacksboro Highway
My blues for Jenny
means she's not around
I wish my Jenny
Could be homeward bound
I'd live through all my lonely confusions
If I knew I see her again
I think of Jenny
As a memory
I wish my Jenny
Could be here with me
I'd live through all my lonely confusions
If I knew I see her again
I don't see Jenny
And the years pass by
May be that Jenny
Got another guy
I'd live through all my lonely confusions
If I knew I see her again
I dream of Jenny
And the night is cold
My bed is empty
Need her now to hold
I'd live through all my lonely confusions
I couldn't sleep last night I was sittin' by my telephone All the time wastin' All the love you've never shown But someday, someday darlin' You will realise I'm alone
If you got a reason and you feel lowdown Start believin', take a look around A cheatin' lady or a lack of cash Someone goin' round talking trash
Put yourself in my shoes Put your faith in the blues 'Cos when the blues are real bad You know they got to be good for you
A rhythm for beatin' all your aches and pains The power of healin' comin' round again Ease your worries and you'll get your kicks Rockin' pianos and guitar licks
Put yourself in my shoes Put your faith in the blues 'Cos when the blues are real bad You know they got to be good for you
Gather round me, try to understand Nothin' better than a rockin' band Got the boogie woogie and rock and roll Nothin' better to free your soul
You said you was hurting, almost lost your mind, And the man you love, he hurts you all the time. When things go wrong, go wrong with you, it hurts me, too.
You love him more when you should love him less. I sneak up behind him and take his mess. When things go wrong, go wrong with you, it hurts me, too.
He love another woman and I love you, But you love him and stick to him like glue. When things go wrong, go wrong with you, it hurts me, too.
I've got a '65 Cadillac Spare tire on the back Charge card at Goldblatts But I ain't got you
I've got women to the right of me Women to the left of me I've got chicks all around me But I ain't got you
I've got a tavern, a liquor store I hit the number, 444 I got a mojo, don't you know I'm all dressed up with no place to go
I've got women to the left of me I've got women to the right of me I've got chicks all around me But I ain't got you No I ain't got you
I've got a tavern, a liquor store I hit the number, 444 I got a mojo, don't you know I'm all dressed up with no place to go
The time must surely come
For the laws to fit the times
The time must surely come

Just a silly kind of quarrel
When we made each other wild
Just a silly kind of quarrel
When we made each other wild
Maybe both of us were wrong
But somebody's acting like a child
You shouldn't have been so selfish
I shouldn't have walked out
You shouldn't have been so selfish
I shouldn't have walked out
It makes you kind of wonder
What love is all about
Now I've gone and lost my feelings
Ever since you got me riled
Now I've gone and lost my feelings
Ever since you got me riled
Maybe we should talk it over
so many roads
so many trains to ride
so many roads
so many trains to ride
i've got to find my baby before
i'll be satisfied
i was standing by my window
when i heard that whistle blow
i was standing by my window
when i heard that whistle blow
you know i thought it was a streamline
but it was a b and o
it was a mean old fireman

it was a mean old fireman

So hard to share
The one you love with another guy
So hard to share
The one you love with another guy
When she's with you
You fear your time will soon expire
Where are you girl?
I want to love you when I can
Where are you girl?
I want to love you when I can
If he keeps you locked up
All my wishes have no chance
If she loves him that's okay, yeah
I want to step back keep control
If she loves him that's okay
I want to step back keep control

On a warm summer night in Arizona
Saw a girl, Lord, I want her so bad
On a warm summer night in Arizona
I saw a girl, Lord, I want her so bad
But I got no chance to tell her
Of the feelings that I have
She went back to the hills with the party
She was falling, helpless and stoned
Followed her through the night of the desert
And I waited till she slept alone
Then I laid her head on my shoulder
We were sleeping, she was my home
Bodies warm wrapped together at a cradle
She was sleeping like a baby child
Bodies warm wrapped together at a cradle
She was sleeping like a baby child
And the sun coming up on a desert
I'm sittin' out here in the rain baby
Under that old green tree
I'm sittin' out here in the rain baby
Under that old green tree
I'm sittin' out here in the rain baby
Wonderin' why you don't come back to me
I got a blister on my heel baby
Splinter run right thru my heart
I got a blister on my heel baby
Splinter run right thru my heart
and I'm sittin' out here in the rain baby
Wonderin' why you and me we had to part
3RD verse ??? maybe ??
I'm so sorry baby we're not allowed to be
Said I'm so sorry baby we're not allowed to be
I'm sittin' out here in the rain baby
Don't take her for granted,
She's had a hard time,
Don't misunderstand her,
Or play with her mind.
Treat her so gently,
It will pay you in time,
'Cause you gotta know,
She's the sensitive kind.
Tell her you love her,
Each and every night,
You will discover,
She will treat you right.
If you'll believe,
I know you will find,
There ain't nothing like,
The sensitive kind.
She get's so lonely,
Waiting for you,
You are the only,
Thing that'll help her through.
Don't take her for granted,
She's having a hard time,
You gotta know,
She's the sensitive kind
If you'll believe,
I know you will find,
There ain't nothing like,
Living in Saw Mill Gulch Road
There's a lonely girl who's now fifteen
Since I've been gone
She's kept a part of me and something seen
Remembering
I took her home
We rode a car through rushing trees
The moon and night
It seemed so wrong to say goodbye
Things unsaid - it wasn't right
She's sneaking out her back window
I'm waiting in Saw Mill Gulch Road
She couldn't see me ride away
And leave her behind so all alone
A pack of cards for solitaire
Hidden meanings to stow away
Lots of things for memories
May seem peculiar
How I think of you
If you want me, darlin'
Here's what you must do
You gotta give me
'Cause I can't give the best
Unless I got room to move
If you want me darlin'
Take me how you can
I'll be circulatin'
'Cause that's the way I am
You gotta give me
'Cause I can't give the best
Around the bend in the L&N1;
They loaded it down with a lot of men
The whistle blow and through the switch2
Nobody knew just-a which one switch
I'm ridin', ridin on the L&N;
I ain't jivin', ridin' on the L&N;
Well a man named Quin on the L&N;
Runnin'3 around on how she's been
Train slowed down and the men jumped off
I wasn't dead 'cause I heard him callin'
I'm ridin', ridin' on the L&N;
I ain't jivin', ridin' on the L&N;
A man named Mose with a great big nose
Sleepin' on that pile of toes
The doctor came and he rang the bell
The palla alla4 get well, well, well
I'm ridin', ridin' on the L&N;
Man?s a filthy creature
Raping the land and water and the air
Tomorrow may be too late
Now?s the time that you must be aware
Nature?s disappearing
Polluted death is coming, do you care?
Garbage going nowhere
Soon the dumps will spread to your front door
Lakes and rivers stagnant
Nothing lives or grows like years before
Nature?s disappearing
The world you take for granted soon no more
Read about pollution
Make manufacturers uncomfortable
Boycott at the market
Containers that are non-returnable
Aluminum, glass and plastic
Eternal waste that?s not destructible
We?re a generation
That may live out our natural time
But as for all our children
Born to suffocate in human slime
Nature?s disappearing
Come on over honey
Got surprises for you
If you ain't got a long time
Then a short one will do
I wanna touch you baby
Let me come and stroke your hair
I ain't in no big hurry
For you I got the time to spare
You know you turn me on
With just a look in your eye
Where you walk I follow
I don't need a reason why
You're a fine sweet woman
I'm confessin' that's no lie
I wanna love you baby
Love you till the day I die
I been contemplatin'
Bout the times we've had
Long as I was with you
I didn't mind the bad
So I wanna love you baby
Please you any way I can
I ain't in no big burry
God we must be crazy
The whole world's been falling apart
I've never seen such suffering
Or so many broken hearts
How people can hurt each other
Lord I swear by the stars above
Ain't got nothing to do with love
Ain't got nothing to do with love
You say you want my money
You wanna buy you a brand new car
You say you love me honey
I ain't seen no proof so far
'Cause the way youve been treating me, darling
Doin' things I've never heard of
It ain't got nothing to do with love
It ain't got nothing to do with love
Nothing to do with love
You've got nothing to do with love
Nothing to do with love
Nothing to do with love
God we must be crazy
The whole world's been falling apart
I ain't never seen such misery
Or so many broken hearts
How people can kill each other
In the name of the lord above
It ain't got nothing to do with love
Nothing to do with love
It ain't got nothing to do with love
Nothing to do with love
It ain't got nothing to do with love
Nothing to do with love
Nothing to do with love
Ain't got nothing to do with love
Nothing to do with love
Nothing to do with love
Ain't got nothing to do with
Nothing to do with love
Ain't got nothing to do with
Nothing to do with love
Ain't got nothing to do with
I've traveled the world and had no time to rest
I've played for people every day
Living from a suitcase from town to town
Till my nerves began to fray
Dreaming of the day I'd stay at home
I feel like I've been on the move too long
Eight years of on the road
Got me a place in the burning sun
Found me the way to go
I'm building up a house to make a home
Found a great love I was looking for
Two people now are one
Her clothes in the closet and her with me
Everything is always fun
Once we had a house but now it's home
Build up your rooms and decorate your walls
That's all you have to do
Work in your way till you find your peace
And life can be made for you
Oh, pretty woman
Sure's the rising sun
Says all your cheap paint and powder
Ain't gonna help you none
'Cause she's a pretty woman
Right down to her bone
So you might as well
Leave your skin alone
chorus:
Pretty woman
What's the matter with you?
Can't make you love me
No matter what I do
Oh, pretty woman
What you gonna do?
You kept on foolin' around
Till I got stuck on you
So you can drop your mess
And come down off your throne
Stop using my poor heart
As just a stepping stone
chorus
Oh, pretty woman
That's all right for you
Now you just go on doing
What you wanna do
But someday when you think
That you've got it made
You're gettin' water deep enough
So you can't wade
chorus
Oh, pretty woman
Oh, pretty woman
Oh, pretty woman
Oh, pretty woman
Can't make you love me
No matter what I do
Can't make you love me
No matter what I do
Can't make you love me
No matter what I do
Well...I'm sittin' over here on Parchman Farm
I'm sittin' over here on Parchman Farm
I'm sittin' over here on Parchman Farm
Possessive emotions creeping up on me
I wish my emotions had less jealousy
Don't want you to be with nobody else but me
Wherever you are that's where I want to be
Is it wrong to feel this way?
Jealousy go away
When you are out shopping and I'm home alone
Possessive emotions make me wish I'd gone
I look for your car lights coming up the hill
Want to tell you I miss you ... just can't get my fill
Possessive emotions make me feel so low
Don't want to be lonesome 'cause it hurts me so
I've got to be with you everywhere you go
If you talk to somebody I just got to know
Is it wrong to feel this way?
Jealousy go away
If I didn't feel this way about my girl
That she was the only one in all the world
I wouldn't be caring for her quite so strong
Every street is choking
Looks like too much traffic on the road
No fun in driving
You wait in line forever just to go
Heavy roar of engines
Sitting in your prisons on the road
Everybody's rushing
Is it so important to be so
Where's it going to lead to
If all the rushing leads to moving slow
Heavy roar of engines
Sitting in your prisons on the road
Poison from your engine
Merges with the air we've got to breathe
Look at that congestion
Don't it make you want to pack and leave
Thoughts you've been having
I've got rambling
I've got rambling all on my mind
I've got rambling
I've got rambling all on my mind
Is to leave my baby
'Cause she treat me so unkind
I'm going down to the station
Catch that old first mail train, see
I'm going down to the station
Catch that old first mail train, see
I got the blues 'bout miss so and so
And her son's got the blue about me
I got mean things
I got mean things all on my mind
Lil' girl, lil' girl
I got mean things all on my mind
Is to leave my baby
I've waited a long time
To get my loving done
There's so much beauty around here
I'm bound to find me one
I said, "Baby,
Don't you run, you can't hide
My love is boiling over
'Cos right now I'm ready to ride"
Took me one week to find her
We danced a special way
She got me so excited
That I couldn't walk away
Love all night till the morning
She nearly wrecked my mind
She's got to be the best lover
It takes a big, big man to handle everything
It takes a big, big man to handle everything
We?re the people wearin? and it doesn?t mean
We need a big, big man to look out all our fears
You?re a big, big man to shoot the world in tears
Oh, yes, world of troubled years
It takes a big, big man to handle all the men
It takes a big, big man to handle all those lands
No one seems to have a plan
It takes a big, big man to make the world go ?round
It takes a big, big man to make the world go ?round
Hey Miss Junkyard, no one can be found
Big, big man no one can be found
Takes a big, big man to make the world go ?round
Looking for a leader, no one can be found
I took the car and drove off to the hills
Saw the flashing lights and saw them die
I left behind society that kills
Me and Nancy waved them all goodbye
I took the car, the sun was going down
Saw the changing colors of the sky
An old apache canyon our camp-ground
Me and Nancy running hand in hand
Took the car and drove off to the hills
Took it back and made of it a fire
To be a child again would be so good
Me and Nancy warm in our desire
Took the car and drove it everywhere
Through the land where all the west began
Desert wind was blowing in our hair
I call her on the telephone
But she is hardly ever home
I know she?s gotten a lovin? man
And so I see her when I can
Roxanne will always be my friend
And that?s the way I?ll keep her love
I think she?s pretty as a rose
I take her out and buy her clothes
I?d like to take her home with me
But I must wait until she?s free
Roxanne will always be my friend
And that?s the way I?ll keep her love
I love to touch her when we walk
I love to listen to her talk
The way I feel I can?t explain
But I will wait for her again
Roxanne will always be my friend
Thinking of my woman
I'm sitting in my hotel room
Hoping that she loves me
Wishing I could see her soon
When I left my woman
Was it only yesterday?
Seems like so much longer
Since I had to go away
Parting at all airports
Make me feel I want to cry
When I left my woman
It hurt to have to say goodbye
Somewhere across the country
I wonder what she's doing now
I'm lonely for my woman
You got me runnin', you got me hidin'
You got me run, hide, hide, run, any way you wanna let it
roll
Yeah, yeah, yeah, you got me doin' what you want me to,
baby why ya' wanna let go
I'm goin' up, I'm goin' down
I'm goin' up, down, down, up, any way you wanna let it
roll
Yeah, yeah, yeah, you got me doin' what you want me to,
baby why ya' wanna let go
You got me peepin', you got me hidin'
You got me peep, hide, hide, peep, any way you wanna let
it roll,
Yeah, yeah, yeah, you got me doin' what you want me to,
Tell your momma, tell your pa,
Gonna move you back to arkansas.
All right, baby what'd i say?
Whoa, all right, baby what'd i say?
Oh baby, oh baby.
All right, baby, what'd i say?
Baby, what'd i say?
Oh, all right, yeah.
Baby, what'd i say?
Yeah, what'd i say?
Baby, what'd i say?
Baby, what'd i say?
Oh, what'd i say?
Baby, what'd i say?
Ah well, ah hey, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Hey, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Walking on sunset
Watching all the people like the waves along the shore
They hang around he whiskey and every open store
Chorus
I'm walking on sunset
And I'll never reach the end
I'm walking on sunset
Everything is like a friend
All the pretty women, never seen a better crop
Music all around, the flashing lights will never stop
Standing at the corner watching every kind of car
Friendly people come and say they wanna see your star
The cops were in the car but they never bothered me
Watching all the people
Like the waves along the shore
They hang around he whiskey
And every open store
I'm walking on sunset
And I'll never reach the end
I'm walking on sunset
Everything is like a friend
All the pretty women
Never seen a better crop
Music all around
The flashing lights will never stop
I'm walking on sunset
And I'll never reach the end
I'm walking on sunset
Everything is like a friend
Well standing at the corner
Watching every kind of car
Friendly people come and say
They wanna see your star
I'm walking on sunset
And I'll never reach the end
I'm walking on sunset
Everything is like a friend
The cops were in the cars
But they never bothered me
A new magic world
I never felt so free
Well I'm walking on sunset
And I'll never reach the end
Well I'm walking on sunset
She was my lover
She was working undercover
Oh the woman knew all of the moves
She really had me rockin'
We were barefoot stompin'
She just kept igniting my fuse
I was blinded by the blackness
Of her long silk stockings
She was rocking with an optical illusion
This ain't how I'd thought it'd be
She just kept on keeping me
In a state of total confusion
She took me for a ride
She rattled me down to my shoes
And I found out
She was an undercover agent for the blues
She never really needed love
Omnidirectional
I was just an innocent bystander
She kept on getting kinkier
I sank hook, line, and sinker
She was just too hot for me to handle
She took me by storm
It must have been a season for the fools
She was so bad
An undercover agent for the blues
I was blinded by the blackness
Of her long silk stockings
She was rocking with an optical illusion
This ain't how I'd thought it'd be
She just kept on keeping me
In a state of total confusion
She took me for a ride
Rattled me down to my shoes
And I found out
She was an undercover agent for the blues
And I found out
She was an undercover agent for the blues
And I found out
Every morning (a)bout half past eight,
My Mama wakes me says,
"Don't be late",
I get to the office, tryin' to concentrate,
My life is just a slow train crawling up a hill.
So I stop one day to figure it out,
I'll quit my job without a shadow of a doubt,
To sing the blues that I know about,
My life is just a slow train crawling up a hill.
Minute after minute,
Second after second,
Hour after hour goes by,
Working for a rich girl,
Staying just a poor girl,
Never stop to wonder why.
So here I am in London town,
A better scene I'm gonna be around,
The kind of music that won't bring me down,
My life is just a slow train crawling up a hill.
Every morning (a)bout half past eight,
My Mama wakes me says,
"Don't be late",
I get to the office, tryin' to concentrate,
My life is just a slow train crawling up a hill.

Life is just a slow train.
So here I am in London town,
A better scene I¹m gonna be around,
The kind of music that won't bring me down,
might be superstition but some kind of somethin'
goin' on down there
it might be superstition but some kind of somethin'
goin' on down there
it's an old time tradition when they play their
drums at night in Congo Square
you can hear 'em in the distance
and the old folks up the bayou say a prayer
you can hear 'em in the distance
and the old folks up the bayou say a prayer
that's when the voodoo people gather
and they play their drums at night in Congo Square
... voodoo people
my eyes were not believin'
what I seen there but I could not turn away
my eyes were not believin'
what I seen there but I could not turn away
they had that mojo in motion
and I seen 'em dance in trance with that snake
... snake dance
it might be superstition
but when I hear 'em in the night I say a prayer
yeah it might be superstition
but when I hear 'em in the night I say a prayer
because I respects tradition
like the kind they carry on in Congo Square
My loving woman and me lying in the sand
We re on a holiday out in a foreign land
Sunny day
We can play
Lazing by the deep blue sea
Happy now that we are free
This is how it ought to be
We are on our own
Go underwater and see another world of green
Fishes go by and I get to wondering where they ve been
Sunny day
We can play
Lazing by the deep blue sea
Happy now that we are free
This is how it ought to be
We are on our own
Take out a boat and paddle it around the bay
Pressures from the world seem to fade away
Sunny day
We can play
Sailing on the deep blue sea
Happy now that we are free
This is how it ought to be
I'm crying
Yes, I'm crying
And I just don't know
How it's all going to end
I'm thinking back a long time
When I hit my woman down
It was a bad bad evil night
When I realized what I'd done
It was way too late, too late
Too late for words and I'm crying
In torment sometimes
We hurt each other so bad
Nobody to turn to, no going back
No such thing as God for us
No more to touch her body
No more to stroke her hair
All I can do is break down in tears
I'm crying and wondering
Where am I now because of what I did
I just don't know and I'm crying
It was a long time ago
The pain is over now
But I still think back sometimes
And remember how I cried
Burn out your blind eyes, baby
Just slow down and play it cool
Why don't you
Realize you've been a fool
You can tell my brother
You can tell my mother
I won't be loving any more
Burn out your blind eyes, baby
Can't you see that I'm a heel
Why don't you
Understand the way I feel
You can tell my brother
You can tell my mother
I won't be loving any more
Burn out your blind eyes, baby
Cat's away the mice will play
Why don't you
Why don't you drive me away
You can tell my brother
You can tell my mother
Somebody Broke Your Wings - Little Bird, - You Can't Fly.

Then I wanna tell you the truth, baby
Thinking of you, baby
That's why I can't sleep this night
I can't sleep this night
That's the reason, that's the reason

[Incomprehensible] night and day

And that's the reason I can't sleep this night
Can't sleep this night, sleep this night
I can't sleep this night, child
That's where I lay, where I lay
Goin' back to California
So many good things around
Don't wanna leave California
The sun seems to never go down
Some people may treat you ugly
Some treat you beautiful too
That's the way life is all over
So look for the good things for you
California, so many things to be free
California, that's where I wanna be
California, so many place for home
California, I'll be back there be for long
I'll be back there be for long
I'll be back there be for long
California, that's where I wanna be
California, I'll be back there for long
I'll be back there be for long
I'll be back there for long
You must be crazy woman
If you don't believe that I love you
When you cry and get unhappy
You don't know how it hurts me too
With a little understanding
We'll get to know each other's ways
With a little bit of patience
We'd never have unhappy days
I love your lovemaking
Never knew it could be such a game
If you ever left me lonely
I know I'd never be the same
You must be going crazy
If you don't believe that I'm with you
If I had to live without you
All the love I miss loving, all the kiss I miss kissing
All the love I miss loving, all the kiss I miss kissing
Before I met you baby, never knew what I was missing
All your love, pretty baby, that I got in store for you
All your love, pretty baby, that I got in store for you
I love you pretty baby, well I say you love me too
All your loving, pretty baby, all your loving, pretty baby
All your loving, pretty baby, all your loving, pretty baby
Since I first met you baby, I never knew what I was missing
Hey, hey baby, hey, hey baby
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, baby, oh, oh, baby
Another man done gone
Another man done gone
Another man done gone, another man done gone, another man
done gone
On the country farm
He's on the country farm, on the country farm, he's on
the country farm
Another man done gone
Another man done gone, another man done gone, another man
done gone
I don't know his name
Didn't know his name, I didn't know his name, I didn't
Got to see all those headlines
Same old depressing news
Trouble surround us so I play my blues
Tell me why should I worry
All the world is crazed
We can take it, yes we do don't we
I'm so amazed
So I go to the ocean
Give me time to think
No time for troubles
Give me one more drink
I'm gonna leave for the ark
Do the best I can
Shake out my troubles
I'm not a worrying man
(Believe that stuff about gas gettin' cheaper)
(You know the price will be up before you get up in the morning)
I let a life slip through my fingers
Where am I gonna turn?
I'm the causing of the trouble
And it makes my poor heart burn
I been tryin' to tell you people
That the blues hit me in my life
You know I was born for trouble
And it's a hard road till I die
I've loved and lost so many women
The cause of many broken heart
Drank and drifted through the years
And watched my family fall apart
I'm gonna pack up my suitcase
Put my misery inside
Throw in a bit of pain and trouble
There's a hero living at 2401 and all around
A family circus in the sun
Got his Mothers working
While you're having fun
Trying to change the system
Many things that must be done
Where did Moon go?
Better call at GTO
In the red room
Pam is planning where to go
Gail and Pauline
Who is prowling round your door?
A maniac, The Raven
Could he have his gun back?
No! 2401, got myself a place to stay
On the railroad, Kansas nearer every day
Miss Christine cooking
Looking very gay
How do you say a Thank You?
A car has killed a friend down in Chicago, thousand miles away
A car has killed a friend down in Chicago, thousand miles away
When I read the news, night came early in my day
J.B Lenoir is dead and it?s hit me like a hammer blow
J.B Lenoir is dead and it?s hit me like a hammer blow
I cry inside my heart that the world can hear my man no more
J.B had a struggle playin? unappreciated blues in vain
J.B had a struggle playin? unappreciated blues in vain
Looking back through the years
Like I got myself a time machine
Memories flood around me
People and places where I've been
I had the blues for the lost days
Way back when times were lean
We had Sonny Boy, Freddy King and Hendrix
And they'd be sitting in till the break of dawn
Sweating at the all night Flamingo
And coming out to pigeons on a Sunday morn
So many raves, so much music
But back then, nobody knew that the London blues were born
So today I got to thinking
Where go friends that drift apart
Some of them are dead and gone now
But they still live on in my heart
I had the blues for the lost days
I've been living with the Bear in a big house full of
blues
Going back through the years, hear any record you choose
The sun is shining down and the Bear is rolling in the
shade
Everybody is gonna boogie, blues roll night and day
Turn on all of the people who got no place to stay
All the men of Canned Heat are part of my family
I'm gonna remember the things they did for me
I got to be moving, they call me Wandering John
Television eye hypnotizing me in my bed
I've got no time to sleep, my eyes are getting blood-shot red
You've got me in your power, staring at your many channeled head
Television eye before you got me hooked I used to read
Now you're by my bedside shining empty lights on me
'Round the clock commercials, trying to sell me things I'll never need
It's hard to turn you off, even though you never turn me on
You're trying to slow my thinking, feeling like my mind is nearly gone
