Osaka (大阪, Ōsaka?) listen (help·info) is a city in the Kansai region of Japan's main island of Honshu, a designated city under the Local Autonomy Law, the capital city of Osaka Prefecture and also the biggest part of Keihanshin area, which is represented by three major cities of Japan, Kyoto, Osaka and Kobe. Located at the mouth of the Yodo River on Osaka Bay, Osaka is the third largest city by population after Tokyo (special wards) and Yokohama.
Keihanshin is the second largest area in Japan by population and one of the largest metropolitan areas highly ranked in the world, with nearly 18 million people, and by GDP the second largest area in Japan and the seventh largest area in the world.
Historically the commercial centre of Japan, Osaka functions as one of the command centers for the Japanese economy. The ratio between daytime and night time population is 141%, the highest in Japan, highlighting its status as an economic center. Its nighttime population is 2.6 million, the third in the country, but in daytime the population surges to 3.7 million, second only after Tokyo (combining the Special wards of Tokyo, which is not a single incorporated city, for statistical purposes. See the Tokyo article for more information on the definition and makeup of Tokyo.) Osaka used to be referred to as the "nation's kitchen" (天下の台所, tenka no daidokoro?) in feudal Edo period because it was the centre of trading for rice, creating the first modern futures exchange market in the world.
Greg Richardson (born February 7, 1958 in Youngstown, Ohio) is a former boxer who was WBC Bantamweight Champion between February 25, 1991, and September 19, 1991.
He was born on the East Side of Youngstown, where he launched his amateur career in the late 1960s. In 1974, Richardson was the National AAU and National Golden Gloves flyweight champion.
Known as "The Flea", Richardson turned pro in 1982. Richardson's professional career peaked in February 1991, when he scored an upset victory over Raúl Pérez and won the WBC bantamweight title. Trained by Earl Charity, Richardson's quick reflexes were credited with earning him a 12-round unanimous decision over Perez, who held the title for almost 28 months. He defended the title only once before losing the belt to Joichiro Tatsuyoshi in 1991. In 1992 he moved down in weight to take on WBC super flyweight title holder Sung-Kil Moon, but lost a majority decision. He retired in 1996.
During his career Greg Richardson also held the NABF Bantamweight Title, as well as the USBA Bantamweight and Super Bantamweight Titles.
Joichiro Tatsuyoshi (辰吉丈一郎, Tatsuyoshi Jōichirō?, born May 15, 1970) is a former World Boxing Council (WBC) world bantamweight champion from Kurashiki, Okayama, Japan. His record is 19–6–1 (13 KOs).
He is popular for his fight style and unique personality, and has appeared in several television variety shows.
He is named after Joe Yabuki, the main character of the boxing anime, Ashita no Joe (Tomorrow's Joe). Coincidentally, he fights in the same weight class (bantamweight) as the character he is named after.
He has a large reach in comparison with his height (he is only 164 cm tall, but has a reach of 178 cm), and is known for his distinctively low guard. He often keeps his hands in front of his chest, unlike other boxers who usually keep their hands closer to the head.
He is managed by the Osaka Teiken boxing gym.
Tatsuyoshi's father was a boxing fan, and began training his son when he was still a toddler. After graduating from middle school, Tatsuyoshi moved to Osaka to begin training, working part-time at restaurants to support himself. Tatsyoshi won the Japanese amateur bantamweight championship at age 17, becoming a candidate for the Seoul Olympics. Tatsuyoshi was featured in a local Kansai newspaper as one of Japan's best young boxers. His amateur record was 18–1–0.
