Sattar Khan (Persian/Azeri: ستارخان, IPA: [sætːɒːɾ xɒn]; (October 20, 1866—November 17, 1914), honorarily titled Sardār-e Melli (Persian: سردار ملی meaning National Commander) was a pivotal figure in the Persian Constitutional Revolution and is considered by many Iranians to be a national hero.
Sattar Khan was born in the village of Janali, in the Iranian province of Azarbaijan, some time in 1868. He was the third son of Haj Hasan Bazzaz, from the Qara Daj mountains. While he was still a child, his eldest brother, who had become a highway robber, was executed by the authorities.
The family later moved to Tabriz where Sattar himself came into conflict with the law when he tried to find a hideout for two Caucasian fugitives to whom his father had given shelter. He was incarcerated for two years in Narin Qalʿa, a notorious local prison. Afterwards he too became a brigand and was subsequently imprisoned again. He also served in the gendarmerie controlling the main road between Khoy and Marand, and for a while found employment as part of the armed escort to the crown prince Mozaffar-al-Din Mirza and was given the title of "khan" (which means "sir" in the Azeri language).
Ali Hatami (Persian: علی حاتمی , August 14, 1944 in Tehran, Iran – December 7, 1996 in Tehran) was an Iranian film director, screenwriter, art Director and costume designer.
Graduated in cinema from Faculty of Dramatic Arts, his debut was Hasan Kachal (Hasan the Bald - 1969), the first Iranian musical film. Since then, he paid attention to unusual rhythmic dialogs and also the use of traditional settings and architecture in his films that became the characteristics of his works.
Although his works did not attract international attention, the Iranian audience praised him. His mind was occupied with making films on the basis of historical and folkloric figures. He was usually the art director of his own films. His last film remained incomplete because of his death by cancer, on December 7, 1996 in Tehran.
Hatami made three great historical TV series, all of them are considered as eternal works in the history of Iranian TV. Meanwhile, he established a small production village as the historical site in which he made Hezar Dastan. It has been since used as the shooting location for many films and TV series, including Agency (1997), The Red Ribbon (1998), The Dead Wave (2000), The Low Heights (2001) and many others.
Abdul Sattar Khan Niazi (October 1, 1915-May 2, 2001) was a religious and political leader of Pakistan. He was born at Isakhel in district Mianwali. After initial education, he opted for religious education in Lahore. He obtained his Master's degree from Islamia College,Lahore, and was later appointed the Dean of Islamic Studies at the same college. He remained at that position until 1947, after which he joined active politics.
Abdus Sattar Khan Niazi was an active participant in the political struggle for the creation of Pakistan. He was elected the President of Punjab Muslim Students Federation in 1938. He then took the position of the President of the Provinical (Punjab) Muslim League until the creation of Pakistan in 1947. Abdus Sattar Khan Niazi was elected as Secretary General of the All-Pakistan Awami Muslim League in 1950 under the Presidentship of Huseyn Shaheed Suhrawardy. He was briefly arrested along with Abul Ala Maududi by the Pakistan Army for purportedly inciting the Lahore riots of 1953 against the Ahmadiyya. He worked as the Secretary General of the Central Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan from 1973 to 1989 and was elected as the President of the Central Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan in 1989. He was elected member of the National Assembly of Pakistan twice, in 1988 and 1990. He was elected to the Senate of Pakistan in 1994 for a six years term.
Ustad Rais Khan (born 25 November 1939) is a legendary Pakistani sitarist born in Indore, India. In the different lines of "gayaki ang" (where the sitar plays the material of singers more than those of instrumentalists) Ustad Rais Khansaheb is the torchbearer of the Mewat or Mewati Gharana (lineage), which is connected to Indore and the "beenkar baj gayaki ang" (singing style combined with rudra vina approaches) carried out by Ustad Rais Khan's father Ustad Mohammed Khan, one of the greatest rudra vina (been) players and a great sitarist himself. This lineage goes back to the court musicians of the Mughal Emperors. Amongst the Khayal and dhrupad doyens, Rais Khan's gharana is a lineage containing the masters Haddu Khan, Hassu Khan, Bande Ali Khan, Nathan Khan, Babu Khan, Wazir Khan, Waheed Khan, Murad Khan, Latif Khan, Majid Khan, Nazeer Khan, Amanat Khan and Rajab Ali Khan of Devas, Madhya Pradesh.
From maternal side, Ustad Rais Khan is descendant of great sitarists of Etawah Gharana. Ustad Rais Khan's mother was the elder sister of Sitar legend Ustad Vilayat Khan. Like wise Vilayat Khan had influence of his brother-in-law Mohammad Khan (Rais Khan's father) in his earlier phase of career, Rais khan has also been influenced by his maternal uncle's style. The Sitar he plays is 'Gandhar-Pancham' Sitar - which was standardized and designed by Ustad Vilayat Khan only.
I am Starhearken and lost
Learning only now the quiet cost
Drowned in star-song wild and deep
Whispers from the corners of my sleep
Foundling heart with haunted eyes
Grasping at the fires where star-song lies
Bridge: Space-singer I am not
Those bringers who have brought
This curse to me
To look on wings that fly
To know the thing that I
Can never be
I am Starhearken and found
Chained forever to the silent ground
Kindred to the crippled dancer
Hearing star-song yet unmade to answer
Crawling here in quiet shame
While the choir of stars sing out my name
Repeat Bridge
I don't know what you're staring at, your eyes are always open
You said you hade a really bad day
And I don't know what to say to you
But close your eyes and try to see
I know it's hard for you to keep your mind relaxed
In this wounded world in this wounded soul of yours
I was standing at the balcony and you didn't know what to say to me
But you should know my friend, this is not the end
Although sometimes I just can't
I just can´t close my eyes and try to sleep
A little bit more before this beautiful day arise
Just look at me
Cause I just can't see my own beauty
You were sinking lower soon at the bottom of the sea
And I was sinking lower soon at the bottom of the sea
