Only after our first night at the camp did our doubts start to arise. The altitude got to us and we really struggled to sleep at night. We chose not to hire a guide after meeting some Polish guys who had just arrived back from Damav

My name's Michael and I'm the Marketing Manager for Wild Frontiers. I'm here at the magnificent site of Persepolis in Iran. I've been in Iran for two weeks now and so far I've been enchanted by this fascinating country.
CITIES
The capital Tehran is most people's starting point, and in this busy city you can see ostentatious ornaments from the royal household in the crown jewels museum, and wander around the Shah's old residence, Golestan Palace. Just north of Tehran you can visit the Elburz Mountains for skiing in the winter or hiking in the summer.
But the real highlights lie elsewhere. In the off-the-beaten-track city of Yazd you'll find a cityscape dotted with the ingenious wind tunnels -- which could be described as the world's first air-conditioning system - the ancient Zoroastrian site of the Towers of Silence, the magnificent Friday Mosque and a number of beautiful palaces and gardens.
Shiraz meanwhile is a lovely university town, known as the city of poets, wine, literature and flowers, and is a real delight. I particularly loved visiting the atmospheric tomb of the Persian poet Hafez. In the evenings it has a magical atmosphere as people gather to read poetry and celebrate the life of this revered poet. Shiraz is also blessed with numerous picturesque mosques and beautiful gardens.
The jewel in the Persian crown is undoubtedly the beautiful city of Esfahan, which has one of the largest squares in the world in the breathtaking Naqsh Jahan Square and probably the most stunning Islamic architecture found anywhere. Esfahan is unbelievably picturesque, with its famed bridges and lively bazaars.
ANCIENT SITES
Iran has a long and rich history, with the Persian Empire at one point ruling over 44% of the world's population. The country is home to some world-class archaeological sites, including the rock-carved tombs of Nagsh e Rostam, where Darius the great is buried, and the spectacular Achamaenid palace complex at Persepolis. This ancient palace was built by Darius the Great to celebrate events such as the Persian New Year, when representatives from the four corners of the empire would congregate. This vast site merits at least a couple of hours to explore the ruins and bas reliefs.
SCENERY
But it's not only about the cities and ancient sites, the scenery of Iran is an unexpected highlight. From beautiful picnic spots such as the Murgon Waterfalls, to fertile valleys in the Bavanat Mountains, where you can encounter Kashqai nomads and see a way of life that has changed little over centuries. In the Dena mountains around Yasuj you'll find an alpine scenery of snow-capped mountains, lakes and streams. It is well worth spending some time away from the better-known cultural sites to explore this lesser-known side of Iran. It really is a beautiful country.
THE PEOPLE
The people of Iran are another real highlight, being welcoming and keen to engage in conversation about everything from politics to football. You are likely to be surrounded by schoolkids asking you questions, offered tea and invited to share in picnics with the locals pretty much wherever you go.
If ever a people were misrepresented by a regime it would be the Iranians. Thanks to a baby boom in the 80's, over 60% of its 70 million population are aged under 30. This generation is well-educated, worldly, and exposed to global media through the internet. Walking around the streets -- which are incidentally very safe - this certainly feels like a nation on the cusp of change.
So forget about any preconceptions you may have about safety, security, or the welcome you'll receive in Iran. I've found the people to be the friendliest and most hospitable I've found anywhere in the world. So check out Wild Frontiers' tours to Iran and discover for yourself this fascinating country.

Bazzar is not only a place for shopping, but also a place for visiting people especially seeing Iranian people and talking to them. So we went and saw the Persian Carpet Market in Tehran Bazzar. As the second part you can see some natural attractions of Iran in Mount Damavand.
The last part of our journey was visiting Chaldareh in Mazandaran province.

Take a tour of Historic Abyaneh in Iran -- part of the World's Greatest Attractions series by GeoBeats.
In the mountains of Iran is a magical place where visitors can travel back in time.
The small town of Abyaneh has adhered to old, traditional ways of doing things.
The historic red clay buildings of their town climb up the slopes of Karkass Mountain.
The Abyunaki can still be seen wearing the traditional clothing of their heritage.
The village is believed to be one of the oldest in Iran.
It is impossible not to feel the awesome weight of passing years when visiting Abyaneh.

In this version, the last episode of Iran Travel Guide, Mohsen Nazaran , the host of the show traveled to Kish Island. It is part of the Hormozgan Province of Iran. Due to its free trade zone status, it is touted as a consumer's paradise, with numerous malls, shopping centres, tourist attractions, and resort hotels. Then he went to Tezerj waterfall in Hormozgan Province. Then, to The Borujerdi House, a historic house in Kashan. The house was built in 1857. It consists of a rectangular beautiful courtyard, delightful wall paintings by the royal painter Kamal-ol-molk, and three 40 meter tall wind towers which help cool the house to unusually cool temperatures. The house took eighteen years to build using 150 craftsmen. Then he went to Abyaneh, Shemshak ski resort in Tehran, Chehel Sotoun in Isfahan, the old bazzar of Isfahan and Shoormast lake in Mazandaran province.

Climbing Mt. Damavand was everything we expected and more. We arrived in Iran wanting to climb this Volcano and quietly confident we would be able to reach the summit. Only after our first night at the camp did our doubts start to arise. The altitude got to us and we really struggled to sleep at night. We chose not to hire a guide after meeting some Polish guys who had just arrived back from Damavand. They assured us it was quite achievable without a guide, although i would recommend a guide for anyone who likes piece of mind. There were a few occasions on our adventure when a guide would have come in handy. But at the end of the day we made it and I’m sure anyone else could have. It was very physically demanding but in saying that, there was a group of european middle aged people doing the hike the same day as we did and some of them would have been 40-50 years old. Although they were hiking a lot slower they still reached the summit. I would recommend anyone going to Iran to at least go to the bottom of the mountain and check it out. The wild poppies are beautiful and the mountain itself is a masterpeice! Please do not hesitate to contact me for any further questions or information in regards to climbing Mount Damavand. We found it extremely hard to find good information before our climb so i will happily answer any questions to help inform anyone wishing to make the climb. Thank you Mt Damavand!

When it comes to Tehran, it's impossible to avoid politics and easy to overlook the Iranian city's thriving culinary scene. In our first installment of The MUNCHIES Guide to Tehran, our host Gelareh Kiazand introduces us to the bustling street food offerings in the city.
We begin our journey at the capital city's Grand Bazaar, since that's where commodities first arrive. Gelareh beelines for the market's food stands, where she samples dried fruits and nuts while waiting out the line at Moslem Restaurant, frequented by up to 5,000 kebab connoisseurs daily—well worth it for her favorite tah chin. At the more modest and bygone Tajrish Bazaar, she's the proverbial kid in a candy store, wading through copper and carpet vendors in search of sweet snacks, such as grape molasses and lavasak (fruit leather).

Araqchi said the Joint Commission meeting focused on the path forward before the implementation of the deal. The senior negotiator said the commission decided to meet before the implementation day in Vienna and every three months after that. Araqchi added that Iran plans to sell its stockpile of enriched uranium and buy natural uranium in return rather than diluting it. The Joint Commission is responsible for monitoring how the two sides implement the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action. Under the July agreement, Iran will limit its nuclear program in exchange for the removal of Western sanctions.

The US said on Wednesday that Iran can undertake some construction work at a key nuclear facility as long as fuel is not produced and advances are not made on a planned heavy water reactor.
The Arak site was among the thorniest issues negotiators sought to resolve in last weekend's nuclear agreement in Geneva.
The White House said that Iran would not advance its "activities" at Arak or progress toward plutonium production.
It spelled out several more constraints.
"The reason we put specific requirements in place is because we wanted to ensure that Arak would not be operational in this time frame," said Jen Psaki, US State Department spokeswoman.
Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Wednesday that while his country was honouring the deal, construction on building projects would continue.
Psaki said she was not sure what work Zarif was referring to.
"Whether he meant a road here or an out-building there, we don't have more clarity on that," she told reporters.
Psaki said that road or building work might be allowable, but nuclear fuel production, reactor work, testing, control systems advances and other activities are not permissible.
But even minor progress at Arak could bring claims by Israel and other opponents of the deal that Iran is violating its rules and spirit.
Heavy water reactors such as Arak produce a greater amount of by-product plutonium, which can be used in nuclear weapons production if extracted by a special process.
Iran has pledged not to pursue facilities that could separate the plutonium.

wn.com/US Backs Iran Claim That Some Work Ok At Arak Site

STORYLINE :
Iran's hardline president declared on Saturday that his nation's controversial nuclear programme posed no threat to any other country, even Israel, "which is a definite enemy."
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad spoke after touring and inaugurating a heavy-water production plant, which went into operation despite UN demands that Iran roll back its nuclear programme.
Tehran says it is for peaceful purposes, but Western countries fear it could eventually be used to develop a nuclear bomb.
During a speech, Ahmadinejad declared that Iran would never abandon its nuclear programme and repeated that a nuclear weapon was not the goal.
"Making nuclear weapons is not on Iran's agenda," he said. "We are not a threat to anybody even the Zionist regime (referring to Israel), which is a definite enemy for the people of the region."
Iran is under a Thursday deadline established by the UN Security Council to suspend uranium enrichment or face political and economic sanctions.
Tehran has called the Security Council's resolution that set the deadline "illegal" and has insisted it won't give up its nuclear programme.
Iran also responded on Tuesday to an incentives package presented by the five permanent members of the Security Council plus Germany.
Tehran said it would be open to negotiations but did not agree to the West's key demand for Tehran to halt uranium enrichment as a precondition to talks.
On Saturday, Ahmadinejad affirmed Iran's right to develop nuclear technology even if sanctions are imposed.
Though the West's main worry has been uranium enrichment, it also has called on Iran to stop the construction of a heavy-water reactor near the plant that Ahmadinejad inaugurated.
Iran has been a building the reactor for two years but is not scheduled to complete it until 2009.
The spent fuel from a heavy-water reactor can be reprocessed to extract plutonium for use in a bomb.
Iran's Vice President Gholamreza Aghazadeh, who also heads the Atomic Energy Organisation of Iran has said the heavy-water facility will be used to treat AIDS and cancer and for other medicine and agricultural purposes.

Heavy water reactors are of proliferation concern because they are optimal for the production of high quality, weapons-grade plutonium. These reactors do not require enriched uranium to produce weapons-usable material, they are fueled by natural uranium. The Institute for Science and International Security (ISIS) estimates that if operated efficiently, the IR-40 reactor will be capable of producing 9kg of plutonium annually, enough for approximately one-and-a-half nuclear weapons per year.

Iran has unveiled a new state-of-the-art control room for its Tehran Research Reactor (نيروگاه پژوهشي هسته اي تهران) to mark its National Nuclear Technology Day.
The Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali Akbar Salehi (علي اكبر صالحي) described the establishment of the Tehran Research Reactor control room as another breakthrough in the country's nuclear energy program.
"This control room is the first research reactor control room that has been designed in Iran," Salehi said on the sideline of Iran's nuclear achievements exhibition on Wednesday.
He added that Iranian scientists have launched an Oxygen-18 isotope production unit at Arak nuclear facility.
Iran has announced that the Arak reactor (نيروگاه هسته اي اراك), which uses natural uranium to produce radio medicine, is planned to gradually replace the Tehran Research Reactor to produce medical radioisotopes for cancer patients.
Salehi said Iran is seeking to produce stable radio isotopes which are commonly used in diverse industrial, medical and environmental fields.
The announcements come as Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei (آيت الله سيد علي خامنه اي) said Iran's nuclear research and development activities will never stop.
"Everybody should know that although negotiations [between Iran and world powers] are going on, the Islamic Republic of Iran's activities in the field of nuclear research and development will never stop...," he said to Iran's nuclear officials and experts in Tehran on Wednesday.

Many in the U.S. fear that a deal as outlined would not go far enough and, instead of being a benefit, would strengthen Iran's hand in the Middle East. Not to mention the important question of trust. Is this agreement a "once-in-a-lifetime opportunity" to halt nuclear proliferation, or does President Obama have this wrong?

Key quote from Senator Al Franken (D-MN)
This agreement is, in my opinion, the most effective, realistic option available to prevent Iran from getting a nuclear weapon anytime in the next 15 years and beyond. Iran must never, ever have a nuclear weapon. And after 15 years, we will still have every option we currently have, up to and including the use of military force, to prevent Iran from getting a bomb. Moreover, while critics have eagerly pointed out what they see as flaws in the deal, I have heard no persuasive arguments that there is a better alternative.
The agreement imposes a series of physical limits on Iran's nuclear program, especially its production of the fissile material it would require to make a bomb. And the agreement's verification provisions are extremely strong: 24/7 monitoring of, and unfettered access to, Iran's nuclear sites and ongoing surveillance of Iran's nuclear supply chain. Let me briefly review the central limits on its nuclear program that Iran has agreed to and the verification provisions. Together they are designed to prevent Iran from trying to get a nuclear weapon and to detect them if they do with enough time to respond forcefully and effectively.
The agreement will prevent Iran from using weapons-grade plutonium as the fissile material for a nuclear weapon by requiring Iran to redesign and rebuild the Arak nuclear reactor, which if completed as planned, could have produced enough weapons-grade plutonium for one or two bombs each year. Under the agreement, it won’t be able to do that. Iran has to pull out the core of the reactor and fill it with concrete to destroy it. And Iran can’t get any sanctions relief until it does that.
The agreement also very significantly reduces and limits Iran’s production of uranium, which, in its highly enriched form, can also be used in a bomb. Iran currently has about 19,500 centrifuges capable of enriching uranium. And it has stockpiled about 10 tons of low-enriched uranium. Under the agreement, Iran has to go down to about 5,000 first-generation centrifuges enriching uranium and down to 300 kilograms of low-enriched uranium – a 98 percent reduction. And Iran doesn’t get any sanctions relief until it does that.
Right now, it would take Iran about 2-3 months to get one weapon’s worth of weapons-grade uranium. That is called the breakout time. The longer the breakout time, the better. And this agreement will increase the breakout time to one year for the first decade. And because of the inspections included in the agreement, if Iran tried to cheat at their nuclear facilities and dash for a bomb, we would catch them almost instantaneously and have more than enough time to respond effectively. Iran’s nuclear facilities will be subject to 24/7 monitoring and unfettered access by the inspectors of the International Atomic Energy Agency or IAEA. The limitations on Iran’s nuclear facilities and the strict verification make it impossible for Iran to dash for a bomb at its known nuclear facilities for the next fifteen years.
But the verification provisions are also important for another reason - they make it much more difficult for Iran to be able to go for a bomb in secret as well. Beyond the 24/7 monitoring of, and unfettered access to, Iran's nuclear sites, international inspectors will also be guaranteed access to any site in Iran that they have suspicions about, including military sites.

The Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory's Center for Global Security Research (CGSR) sponsored this talk entitled “What Matters in the Iran Nuclear Negotiations” on Sept. 11, 2014.
To date, the nuclear negotiations with Iran have focused on limiting activities at declared facilities, e.g. uranium enrichment facilities at Natanz and Qom and a heavy water reactor at Arak. Moreover, the U.S. goal, as characterized by Secretary of State John Kerry, has been to push back Tehran’s “breakout time” from 2 months to a period perhaps of 6-12 months. Focusing on these issues does not bode well for success in the negotiations. In addition to attempting to extend the breakout period, the P5+1 negotiators should insist on limitations that will test Tehran’s willingness to forego a nuclear weapons program altogether in exchange for better relations with economically advanced nations, and deter attempts to cheat on any agreement, using undeclared facilities.
William Tobey was most recently Deputy Administrator for Defense Nuclear Nonproliferation at the National Nuclear Security Administration. There, he managed the U.S. government's largest program to prevent nuclear proliferation and terrorism by detecting, securing, and disposing of dangerous nuclear material. Mr. Tobey also served on the National Security Council Staff in three administrations, in defense policy, arms control, and counter-proliferation positions. He has participated in international negotiations ranging from the START talks with the Soviet Union, to the Six Party Talks with North Korea. He also has extensive experience in investment banking and venture capital.

As part of the ongoing Nuclear Crossroads Initiative, the Center for Global Security Research (CGSR) sponsored this talk by Robert Einhorn, entitled “The Iran Nuclear Negotiations: Prospects for a Deal and Implications for Proliferation in the Middle East,” on May 18, 2015, at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.
Abstract:
The political framework reached by P5+1 and Iranian negotiators in Lausanne on April 2 provides the foundation for achieving a comprehensive agreement on the Iran nuclear issue. Significant progress has been made toward meeting key U.S. objectives: lengthening Iran’s “breakout time” via the uranium path to at least one year for at least ten years; blocking the plutonium path using the Arak heavy water reactor; and establishing a monitoring and inspection regime that can deter and detect a covert program. But critical issues remain, and success is far from guaranteed. Even if U.S. negotiating objectives are realized, the agreement will be heavily criticized, both domestically and by traditional U.S. Middle East friends. There has been wide speculation that, with or without an agreement, Iran’s nuclear program will trigger a wave a proliferation in the region. While there are grounds for concern, fears of additional states acquiring fuel-cycle or nuclear weapons capabilities are exaggerated. Interest by Middle Eastern countries in acquiring such capabilities will depend on their perceptions of the effectiveness of an Iran nuclear deal, of Iran’s future regional behavior, and of the reliability of U.S. commitments to their security. And even if regional states decide to “match” Iran, it is questionable whether they would have the technical resources to pursue an indigenous program or the ability to secure the necessary foreign assistance.
Robert Einhorn is a Senior Fellow with the Brookings Institution’s Arms Control and Nonproliferation Initiative. Before coming to Brookings in May 2013, Einhorn served as the State Department’s Special Advisor for Nonproliferation and Arms Control, a position created by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in 2009. Between 2001 and 2009, Einhorn was a Senior Advisor at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, where he directed the CSIS Proliferation Prevention Program. Before coming to CSIS, he was Assistant Secretary of State for Nonproliferation (1999-2001), Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Political-Military Affairs (1992-1999), and a member of the State Department Policy Planning Staff (1986-1992). Between 1972 and 1986, he held various positions at the U.S. Arms Control and Disarmament Agency, including ACDA’s representative to the strategic arms reduction talks with the Soviet Union.

Iran's nuclear negotiations have been arguably one of the most remarkable diplomatic struggles of the past decade. After years of negotiations an agreement has never appeared to be more in reach. With the deadline fast approaching, a number of outside players have ramped up their efforts to prevent an agreement from taking place, Israel above all.
In this revealing and analytic program, we explore why Israel is so concerned about a peaceful ending to the decade-long drama, and what are the tools that Netanyahu is using to convince the western powers against a possible deal.

Saudia Arabia and the other Arab states are responding to the Iranian deal

The American-Iranian Nuclear deal has brought strong criticism from Israel and the Arab states. Israel sees it as a threat to its existence. One of the outcomes has been the development of closer ties between the Arab states, answering to "Sheba and Dedan" of Ezekiel, and also the development of better relationships with Israel.
Headlines this week revolved around the historic agreement between the USA and Iran regarding the nuclear agreement.
President Obama proudly took the podium brag about his “peace in our time” nuclear agreement. Here are some of the excerpts of his deal:
Obama address the nation about the Iran Nuclear Deal
Today, the United States -- together with our allies and partners -- has reached a historic understanding with Iran, which, if fully implemented, will prevent it from obtaining a nuclear weapon…. I am convinced that if this framework leads to a final, comprehensive deal, it will make our country, our allies, and our world safer.
Today, after many months of tough, principled diplomacy, we have achieved the framework for that deal. And it is a good deal, a deal that meets our core objectives. This framework would cut off every pathway that Iran could take to develop a nuclear weapon. Iran will face strict limitations on its program, and Iran has also agreed to the most robust and intrusive inspections and transparency regime ever negotiated for any nuclear program in history. So this deal is not based on trust, it’s based on unprecedented verification.
Many key details will be finalized over the next three months, and nothing is agreed to until everything is agreed. But here are the basic outlines of the deal that we are working to finalize.
First, Iran will not be able to pursue a bomb using plutonium, because it will not develop weapons-grade plutonium. The core of its reactor at Arak will be dismantled and replaced. The spent fuel from that facility will be shipped out of Iran for the life of the reactor. Iran will not build a new heavy-water reactor. And Iran will not reprocess fuel from its existing reactors -- ever.
Second, this deal shuts down Iran’s path to a bomb using enriched uranium. Iran has agreed that its installed centrifuges will be reduced by two-thirds. Iran will no longer enrich uranium at its Fordow facility. Iran will not enrich uranium with its advanced centrifuges for at least the next 10 years. The vast majority of Iran’s stockpile of enriched uranium will be neutralized….
Third, this deal provides the best possible defense against Iran’s ability to pursue a nuclear weapon covertly -- that is, in secret. International inspectors will have unprecedented access not only to Iranian nuclear facilities, but to the entire supply chain that supports Iran’s nuclear program -- from uranium mills that provide the raw materials, to the centrifuge production and storage facilities that support the program. If Iran cheats, the world will know it. If we see something suspicious, we will inspect it. Iran’s past efforts to weaponize its program will be addressed. With this deal, Iran will face more inspections than any other country in the world.
The ongoing failure of Obama to deal with Iran was made evident in an article in the New York Times, (April 3, 2015), commenting on the negotiations and the agreements that came out of them:
But as the talks hit one deadline after another, the administration had to compromise more. Instead of maintaining strict limits throughout the life of a 15-year accord, for example, it began to talk about keeping the toughest limits — the ones that would extend to a year the time Iran needed to produce enough nuclear material for a bomb — in place for at least 10 years….
The growth of the Iranian nuclear project has been substantial since Obama has been in office, the article stated:
“Iran had a few hundred working centrifuges in 2003, thousands when Mr. Obama took over and 19,000 now.”
wn.com/Saudia Arabia And The Other Arab States Are Responding To The Iranian Deal
