Aside from people who have mental conditions like sociopathy and end up being violent regardless of the kind of moral code they were instilled with as youth? What correlations and patterns would we see among the people of different creeds if we studied their behavior? To illustrate my point, imagine all those Islamic countries where the people have very bad morality. What if they were all raised in middle-class British environments? Would those human beings be more moral?

Just say whatever comes to mind first. My initial assumptions are that man is an intellectual animal. We exhibit the same appetites as the animals (for sex, food, violence, etc...) but we can realize when it is more expedient to not resort to those appetites. We can restrain ourselves thanks to our Reasoning. But then, does that make the lunatic who cannot control himself less of a man?

I understand this is not a question that can be simply answered based on any kind of scientific evidence but I guess I'm just asking what other people believe, and not based off of religion. My question is, are all of life events that we experience predestined or predetermined in some type of way or is it all just random occurrences which happen based off of our free will choices? I personally want to believe that there is some meaning behind why we live on earth and have the events that happen to us occur in our lives, because if I were to think that everything that happens in life is just random and has no meaning and we just attribute meaning to it, well that would be a hard pill to swallow and it just makes it pointless to even want to live... Is life a series of random occurrences that just happen by chance and we just attribute meaning to them? Or is it something that is already written in stone and will happen no matter what, OR are some events which happen in our lives random and some others happen due to a higher reason and have meaning?
