Step (Kara album)

Step is the third full-length album by South Korean K-pop girl group Kara. It was released on September 6, 2011. A special limited edition was available for pre-order starting August 25, 2011.

Background and recording

On August 4, 2011, the group confirmed that they will be releasing their third official album on mid-September and will resume their activities in South Korea for the first time in over six months. It was also reported by industry representatives that the group has been recording songs for the album during their spare time while they were busy promoting their fourth Japanese single, "Go Go Summer!". DSP Media stated that the group are in the process of reviewing which songs to be used as the lead song from the album.

Concept and artwork

Regarding the concept of the album, the group was also faced with a choice between maintaining their usual bright, cute and youthful concept or transforming into something new.

Composition

The limited edition of the album contains a bonus track called "With My Heart (Dear Kamilia)" which is the Korean version of "Ima, Okuritai 「Arigatou」" from their third Japanese single.

Step (Meg album)

Step (stylized STEP) is the fifth full-length studio album by Japanese singer-lyricist Meg, released on June 18, 2008 in Japan by Universal Music Japan. This is Meg's highest selling album in her career as well as the second electropop album to reach the top ten in the Oricon charts since Perfume's Game (released two months prior), debuted and peaked at number 8 in the Oricon charts, selling 15,801 units on its first week of release and a total of 29,048 units in Japan.

Step (ClariS song)

"Step" is a pop song by the Japanese duo and idol unit ClariS, written by Kz. It was released as the unit's tenth single on April 16, 2014 by SME Records. The song was used as the second opening theme to the 2014 anime series Nisekoi. A music video was produced for "Step", directed by Jungo. The single peaked at No. 3 on Japan's weekly Oricon singles chart.

Composition

"Step" is a synthpop song with instrumentation from a synthesizer. It is set in common time and moves at a tempo of 146 beats per minute in the E minor key throughout the song. The introduction starts with the synthesized music to transition into the first verse, followed by the chorus. After a short bridge, this pattern is repeated for the second verse and chorus featuring the same music with different lyrics. A break is used to transition into the third verse, immediately followed by the chorus used as the outro to close the song.

Release and reception

"Step" was released in a regular edition and two limited editions on April 16, 2014 as a CD by SME Records in Japan. One of the limited edition versions was packaged with Nisekoi artwork and also contained a short version of "Step" instead of its instrumental version. The other limited edition version came bundled with a DVD containing the music video for "Step". The song peaked at No. 3 on Japan's weekly Oricon singles chart and charted for 8 weeks. "Step" debuted and peaked on the Billboard Japan Hot 100 at No. 5.

Smithers-Oasis is a company specializing in floristry products headquartered in Kent, Ohio, United States. The company created water-absorbing foam in 1954 and leads manufacturing and marketing of various products in the global florist industry.

History

The company was founded in 1954 by V.L. Smithers in Kent, Ohio after he developed a water absorbent foam to use in floral arrangements. Since then, other products have been developed including floral accessories, cellular growing media, and post-harvest plant products. The company is headquartered in Kent and operates a manufacturing plant there. Corporate offices were returned to Kent in late 2013 from Cuyahoga Falls, where they had been located since 1992.

Wet floral foam

Oasis is a trademarked name for wet floral foam, the spongy phenolic foam used for real flower arranging. It soaks up water like a sponge and acts both as a preservative to prolong the life of the flowers and a support to hold them in place. The foam's structure is similar to that of plants and has capillary action to move water to the surface and up the stem. It is often green, but is also available in many other colours, such as purple, red, yellow, and brown. It usually is supplied in a brick shape, but can be bought in spherical shapes. Oasis can be bought wholesale or in arts and craft and gardening stores, particularly ones that feature large faux flower collections for creating artificial arrangements.

Oasis (O.C. & A.G. album)

Oasis is the first collaboration album by New York rappers O.C. and A.G., both members of the D.I.T.C. crew. The album was released on November 24, 2009, through a joint venture between Nature Sounds and D.I.T.C. Records, after several pushbacks dating as far back as the spring of 2008. The album was first premiered in its entirety on the duo's Myspace a week before the official release.

"Musically, it’s by the same producers so it’s gonna have the same type of feel. But it’s different because on the joints I think our message also sets the tone. Like, we are that last instrument. And we tried to do that intentionally on the project. It’s a lot of melodies on the project. It’s a lot of things like… We brought the best out of each other I think. Like, O brought the best out of me. I’ve learned at this stage of my game, “Oh, this is how you attack something like that when you wanna attack it with some melody…” ‘Cause I definitely know O specializes in that. So, I think we gained a lot from each other and learned when we go on and do our next project, “Oh, I could add this to my shit. This is somethin’ I learned from my cohort, my partna.” So that’s dope. And a lot of that is reflected in the music, how we feed off of each other.", said AG.

Oasis (Star Trek: Enterprise)

Oasis is the Twentieth episode (production #120) of the television series Star Trek: Enterprise. It guest stars Rene Auberjonois, who previously starred as Odo in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.

The crew is directed to a barren planet, where a derelict ship may be salvageable for supplies. However, the crew quickly learns that rumours about the shipwreck being haunted may be true.

Plot

Captain Archer, Sub-Commander T'Pol and Commander Tucker are dining with D'Marr, a visiting trader. He tells them of a "haunted" transport vessel that has crashed on a nearby planet, and Archer orders an away team to investigate. Once on board, T'Pol hears a noise, but detects nothing with her tricorder, while Archer and Ensign Mayweather find a computer terminal and decide to take it back to Enterprise. In engineering, Tucker and T'Pol discover a section of the ship protected with a dampening field. As they make their way to locate its generator, they find a chamber containing many armed crewmembers.
